Whenever I'm finishes with the interviews...
Asher approaches the others. "Got a lead. You won't like it." He says, his voice a low growl.
When it seems they have a bit of privacy (he won't mind about the regular police) he explains that Xambria had come to visit before Bergeron's death.
"Not sure if that adds towards being his killer, but she's our only suspect just now."
LeMond Asher |
"Sure" Asher agrees with Falko.
"What's our current theory of what happened at the site, and how it fits here? Who stole the seal? Is the seal the energy you are feeling around here that scaled the wall outside? Maybe the energy is from one of the creatures that attacked us before. It climbed or flew up the wall and... Just went THROUGH the window and wall, ate Bergeron's brains and then left. Why? Who sent it, Xambria? Does she have the seal? Why would she need to assassinate Bergeron? We should interview her for certain, esecpially about the star-maps overheard by the other guests here, but I'm doubting she is immediately responsible."

You can continue this conversation for a bit, I figure you will probably want to meet up tomorrow and talk to Delft and then go to see Xambria
The group splits up each going to his apartment, Chretien still thinking he is Sarya makes his way to the Dream Merchants Compound but is not allowed entrance.

In addition, I will also like to discuss your potential career advancement be it in politics, the RHC or even a return to the military of Risur.
Sincerely yours,
Lord Viscount Inspector Niles Price-Hill Feel free to write him a letter in return
Falko
The letter reads Dear Constable Escheus,
We know you are one of us, a Docker a hard working man in this city where none of us can get a fair shake, whether it be the lockins in Parity Lake or such. The situation is such, although you were there when the Fair went awry and a man one was inadvertently shot, the local police are still holding the great entertainer, Rock Rackus, under guard and we seem to think that someone may have put out a hit on him.
Please could you speak on his behalf or at the minimum could you meet me at the Thinking Man's Pub at 7pm, I am there with almost every night.
Respectfully,
Thames Grimesly
Angus
the writer were so used to signing and sealing his letters that he almost mailed it with his name affixed. There is no return address, but it reads: By Decree of the Old Stag:
You, servant of Srasama, have been chosen to strike
a blow for our order. The swine Rock Rackus has
insulted us for the last time. At our latest secret
gathering, the Old Stag said he thinks the man deserves
to die, and we must carry out his desires, because
he speaks for the Unseen Court. The pig deserves to
die, and you are to do the deed!
Do it however you want, but make sure it makes the
news, so we can verify that you did it. Your actions
will earn us both favor.

Lovely to meet you outside of official University business where we can talk. I must add that it was fascinating to be able to see the Staff of the Ancients as well as the sword and the medallion as well. I am enclosing an invitation to you and your team as a reminder.
By the way, I spoke with a colleague here at the University, a Colonel Harlock, who sometime teaches here at Pardwright but mostly does his teaching at the Battalion on Pine Island. Anyway, he said he used to be a teacher of a colleague of yours who is on assignment, a Constable Savan Harn. He would like to speak with you at the university at around noon. He will be here for the next few days or so.
Best of Luck!

Asher reads the letter, and his mouth drops slightly agape as he reads the potential offer to rejoin the military. He gets himself a bottle of something and sips at it straight as he attempts to compose a letter.
Honorable Lord Viscount Inspector Niles Price-Hill,
Assuming I live through the duties facing me in the Royal Homeland Constabulary, I will be attending your ball. I don't yet know about bringing a guest, but I shall make a cursory attempt at acquiring one.
I'm eager to attend a gathering of old soldiers without having to suffer the casual nature to which the rest of the upper-class seem to think of a soldier's death, and share drinks and stories in good company.

He tears the letter up and rewrites it, this time leaving out anything to do with his opinion on his career. He signs it:
LeMond Asher, Former Cheif-Engineer. RHC
He puts the letter with his outgoing mail and finishes the bottle.

Cretien, when next the team gathers, hands out invitations to the team. It is from Prof. HANS weber who would like to talk to us.
Angus McCormick |
not sure how / when but angus will try to arrange for a restoration spell on himself when possible

Everyone who is acting weirdly please give me a Fortitude Save

The five of you make your way to HQ to report in to Delft. He notices right away that some of you look a little worse for wear and says, "Hmmmm, I've heard that they party rough down in Bole but damn, what happened to y'all." as he spits out the chaw he has in his mouth.
"You get back and fifteen seconds later, you find one of our suspects dead. Any leads?"

Falko Escheus |
Before the meeting
Falko turns to his colleagues as they meet at HQ: "Had a letter waiting for me. Supposedly, someone's trying to murder that Rackus Star we apprehended. They're still holding him, can you believe? Should we see him before we leave HQ?"
With Delft
"Hi Sarge! Party rough indeed..." Falko mutters back as flashes of the Fey Titan's stare and his companions' corpses washing on the steps of the ziggurat cloud his mind.
Regaining composure, he answers: "I like Xambria for the murder. Perhaps we should pay her a visit?"

Did you mean will save? If so, at another -1
.... Not that that matters. Sorry Angus, guess I still hate your weapon!
Before the meeting:
"What?! How?! When?! The cops that arrested him better not have anything to do with it! It's absurd that he's still being held, it was clearly an accident!"
----
With Delft
"Rough? ROUGH? Hah! Rough is a hail of gunfire in a jungle. Rough is the sea trying to tip your ship over at night. What we found was hellish!!"
He tries to keep himself more or less composed, but his hands shake as he remembers the fey titan. "ACI, it was bad. As you can tell, some of us have been burned by some kind of acidic shit, and we're lucky for that. I don't suppose we have any healers that can put us back in fighting conditions? I feel like Constable Holbrook here could shove me over right now."
ACI Stover Delft AKA GM |
i miswrote, it should be a Will save
Delft responds to Falko, "Son, you must be in really bad shape by calling me 'Sarge.'"
He then chews on Falko's words, "Hmm, the Slatian archaeologist. Paying her a visit should definitely be in the cards for today."
Delft then moves over to Asher and puts his hand on his shoulder and says, "Ok, I might be able to help with that."
For Angus and Asher, you are going to need to use your prestige with three entities to get one restoration spell and the caster to cast it, plus the material cost, which 1000gp per spell. The restoration scroll would be a level 3 prestige favor, the caster is only level 2. And then in seven days you can do it again to get the second level. This can be put together for today. I will need a diplomacy or intimidate check and which group you want to make the favor with. Refer to the Campaign info tab for your prestige rating.

No a bad idea Falko, let go and have a chat with the man. Let's see if that threat is real before we head out again
he looks at the others
if you don't mind
Cretien Dufrene |
Cretien remains quiet and introspective, occasionally seen looking at his hands or tugging at clothing to see it better.
LeMond Asher |
Yeah, Asher will go with Angus, he's rather looking forward to being at tip-top again. Before he goes however...
Asher turns to the group before separating. "If you find Xambria..." he says, pointing at the others and addressing them gravely. "... GET HER to tell you what she was talking to Bergeron about, and anything odd she saw in his room. Witnesses overheard her say something about star maps so if she doesn't speak on it you know she's lying!"
ACI Stover Delft AKA GM |
Delft says, "You should definitely follow up on that."
The party splits with A+A going to first Cippriano's and the rest going to Pardwright University to go find Dr. Xambria Meridith.
Angus and Asher
He sees Angus and says, "Buenosera, a Caribinieri who took down the mayore... hmm, I ah don't knows you so good. And whosa your Amico."[/ b]

'I haven't seen her is several days' he explains, 'and she won't answer her door. The university has a spare key to her suite, so earlier this morning I used it to enter and check if she was okay. The rooms are empty: she's gone.' He wrings his hands. 'I don't know where.'

Either John or Falko cast the ritual: it detects strong energies here, that came and entered through the doorway. Can I get a perception check for searching the room and the checks for casting the ritual.
In the middle of you searching the room, Dr. Weber pulls Chretien aside.
Chretien
Once you bypass security and are frisked several times, the Colonel takes you through some tunnels and security doors to a huge underground room covered in crates of ice and bizarre machinery. 'Colonel Harlock, pleased to meet you Chretien'[b], he introduces himself. His uniform is highly decorated for such a young man, and he has a fantastically-styled moustache.
He chuckles to himself and says [b]'I still find this all interesting, you being a Danoran after all." and then continues "You probably recognize these", he points to the iced palates and the autopsied bodies of the tentacled monsters you fought at the fair ground. 'The study of newly-discovered creatures or magic is crucial for the Risur military', he explains. 'Im writing a thesis called Methods of Extricating Warriors from a Variety of Tentacled and Tendriled Monsters,' He tells you over a small glass of sherry later in his small clean office. 'I'd appreciate if you can tell me everything you remember about the staff and the monsters'. He writes it all down methodologically, forgetting nothing, asking pertinent questions throughout. 'Excellent. I'll stay in touch with you, and give you a copy of the thesis when its done. If you find out anything else please keep me informed.'
