GM DSP previously said that:
1)We would have 15,750 gp to spend.
2)Loot would be scarce in the campaign, so prepare accordingly.
3)Anything other than straight enhancement bonuses to weapons and armor needs to be specifically cleared by him.
I hope that that helps! :-)
Harold Wainright, Ranger: 4d10 + 25 ⇒ (1, 5, 8, 9) + 25 = 48.
Kara, Animal Companion: 4d8 + 23 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 6) + 23 = 40.
Hmmm... A bit less than 'half plus one', but not ridiculously so... It could work :-)

Osslend Abenier |

Born and raised in (city name), Osslend Abenier was the poor son of a poor man who was foolish with his money. Osslend's mother had left before he could even remember her and his father did his best, though that was hardly saying much.
By the age of 15, Osslend was caring for himself as his father had all but disappeared, showing up only on occasion and always in trouble with some lender or another when he did.
It was at the age of 15 that Osslend met the creature that would send his life in a whole new direction. Lost, shivering and hungry, Osslend found a full-breed war hound wandering the streets in the pre-dawn hours one winter morning. He cared for the dog, sharing his own food and blanket, until a few weeks later, the dog's owner finally found him.
To Osslend's surprise, the Baroness who owned the dog was kind and seemed genuinely concerned for the well-being of her hound. She offered to reward Osslend who declined the offer asking only that he be allowed to visit with the hound on occasion as he would miss its company. The Baroness agreed and before long, Osslend was named her Master of Hounds, caring for all eight of her powerful animals. He soon moved onto the grounds and found a home for himself.
The Baroness was a kind woman and surprisingly young to hold such a position of power and esteem. She disappeared for days at a time and often returned home injured but unwilling to share details of her exploits.
The years went by and the Baroness aged, marrying and outliving two husbands during Osslend's 20's. The young man was more than content spending time with the hounds whom he had grown to love. Of course, he socialized as well and became a popular figure at the local taverns, never over-indulging, but never under-indulging either. He became known as a friend to the poor, giving over much of his wages to help others and always ready to defend anyone in need. He was known for carrying a large flail that he jokingly claimed he needed to train the hounds.
On his 26th birthday, the Baroness returned from one of her mysterious trips gravely ill but bearing a gift. A young War hound pup, the finest Osslend had ever seen. The Baroness's steward, a man named Hargrave, was beside himself with grief at his mistress's illness. In a moment of alcohol-induced weakness, he confessed two things to Osslend: 1) Hargrave was and had been madly in love with the Baroness (this Osslend had long since figured out) and 2) the Baroness was actually a covert agent for the government. Her work saved lives and kept peace.
The Baroness did not last long enough for the clerics to arrive and they soon learned that she had been poisoned. By whom or what, they could not say.
Three years to the day after her death, Osslend was approached by two men claiming to have known and worked with the Baroness. They said that she had spoken often of Osslend to them and that she was impressed by his worth ethic and clever mind.
They hinted that Osslend might find work...the kind of work the Baroness had done if he were willing. If so, he show up at (x-time, place specified).
Osslend, now nearly 30 years old, is anxious to do some good in the world. Though he never could have confessed this to Hargrave, the truth was that he was in love with the Baroness as well. Anything he could do now that might make her proud is what he would do.
Osslend is a jovial man, though quiet unless he finds cause not to be. Thanks to the kindness shown him by the Baroness, he is kind to anyone deserving of that kindness and no friend to those who aren't. He learned to fight the hard way...he got beat up a lot when he was a kid on the streets. Luckily, he learned his lessons well.
Though fairly warm to people he likes, Osslend's kindness and joy know no bounds when in the company of dogs. Most who meet him say he is a kindred spirit to the canines: loyal, true and a good judge of character. Any slight to his hounds is a slight to Osslend himself and slights are not tolerated.

What's the status on the "normal" magic items? I'm understanding that you would like the acquisition built into the backstory. Things like:
Rings of Protection
Amulets of Natural Armor
Cloaks of Resistance
Well, I am hardly official, but I was asked to work how I acquired a cloak of resistance +1 into my back-story, so I imagine the other 'standard' items would be equally rare...

Alright, I'm throwing my newcomer hat in the ring. Rolls for stats first, then the ideas for characters later.
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
Well I might be crazy for saying this, but I'll go with Set 1.

Harold Wainright |

Alright. Luke_Parry here, with my concept for Harold Wainright, a LN Half-Elf Ranger(Infiltrator) 5, and fervent Pollexian Patriot.
His crunch is listed on his character page.
Let me know what you think :-)
Harold is a tall, broad-shouldered Half-Elven male with strong, aquiline features. Affable and good-looking, he accentuates his natural charm by dressing impeccably in well-tailored clothing and highly polished armor, although he also has a rather eccentric fondness for an old, weather-beaten, broad-brimmed hat, through the crown of which pinned an exquisitely crafted arrow, with green and yellow fletching. He is never far from his favourite ancestral weapon - a magical silver greatsword of great antiquity, the hilt of which is a stylised depiction of his family's crest.
The eldest child, and only son, of a minor noble family based in the provincial town of Eraest, Harold had an undeniably pampered upbringing, with the best tutors that money could buy. Despite this, he was not a particularly good student, and few of his lessons actually stuck; he vastly preferred to be gallivanting around town, or practicing blade-work with the town guards. He also developed a particular affinity for hunting and hawking, and spent many happy days in the nearby forest with his father's chief woodsman.
In despair that his son would ever be fit to take over the family holdings, Harold's father decided that what his son really needed was an adventure or two to 'get it out of his system', so that he could settle-down, and focus on his 'real' future as the next Wainright Patriarch.
To that end, he contacted a few of his old friends, including a Captain in the Royal Guard, and managed to acquire a commission for his son. He immediately packed him off to the capital, handing over the family's ancestral blade as a parting gift.
For his part, although he was initially quite proud of his new position, the dull monotony of essentially acting as a well-dressed thief-taker gradually wore thin, and he was contemplating caving in to his father, when his unit was sent to Blimi to investigate tales of grave-robbing and disappearances amongst the citizens. When they arrived, they found a town under sieige from within - a Cabal of debased humans and ghouls, led by a ghast cleric of Urgathoa had been slowly and systematically gnawing-away at the town's population. In a series of close-running battles, Harold's unit was finally able to break the leadership of the Cabal, and sent the cult's remaining forces fleeing, but at terrible cost - including Master Wainright, only five members of the unit survived the Hell of Blimi.
Nonetheless, they were all hailed as heroes, and back in the capital, they were all handsomely rewarded with promotions, each receiving well-crafted breastplates emblazoned with the symbol of the Imperial Guard, magical cloaks with clasps that idenitifed them as favored agents of the Royal Court, and magically-enhanced, sturdy leather belts. They were then all quickly parcelled off to positions in top units, but Harold had other plans - he had seen that a black growth existed at the heart of the Nation, one which endangered innumerable law-abiding subjects. Harold swore that he would dedicate his life to rooting-out this taint, and requested, and was granted, a transfer to the Inqusitiors, a group who specialized in cutting away this cancer...
Since then, he has proved his worth time and again, notable exploits including rescuing a Druidic Circle near Rynton, which was being plagued by a Vampiric Wolf, a feat for which he was rewarded with a companion in the form of a trained Wolverine, and a magical amulet, designed to enhance the effectiveness of this companion against the foul creatures which he encountered.
Harold, and his companion, whom he quickly named 'Kara' after a favored childhood hunting dog, are now familiar sights up and down the highways of Pollexia. He never knows what he is going to encounter, but one thing he takes as given is that he will do his utmost to protect the Crown, and by extension, all of the subjects of Pollexia, from the cancer which devours its heart, even if it requires his last breath...
Harold loves his family dearly, but he finds life amongst Nobles stifling. He would much rather a life full of adrenaline-pumping excitement, but he knows this runs counter to his father's plans for him.
Harold is also extremely patriotic, and would willingly lay down his life in defence of the Crown. He has nothing but compassion for the law-abiding citizens of Pollexia, but if he encounters any of the supernatural forces which gnaw at the heart of his Country, or worse, citizens who have allied themselves with such forces, he does not hesitate to do what is necessary to protect the Crown, and his way of life.

rolling for hp 5d8+5
When you emphasized that this is to be a ROLE playing game, does that mean there may be high levels of intrigue and romance?
There just might be ;) In all honesty though, there should be a good mix of everything.
I emphasized ROLE play because, regardless of what's taking place (combat, tavern night, dinner with the king, interrogating the werewolf, etc.) I hope to see the characters behaving and acting like themselves. Feel free to describe your swings in combat, use italics to show character thoughts that no one can hear but add to the character's development.
Hopefully that helps!

Can those still interested in playing please post what time zone they're in and how often they could post per day?
No answer will outright deny you a spot, I just want to know where we stand.
*Note* The "everyday" magic items are ok to purchase. For example, cloak of resistance, ring of protection, etc.

Cecil Von Spirito |

I might be just the archaist you're looking for!
Cecil is presently built as a level one Master summoner. However, I'm leaning towards can building him as a brood master. Frankly, that sounds like more fun because I think it's an interesting concept, but more of a roleplaying and less roll playing class. In other words he's not optimal combat wise, but fun to play. The basic story line is in his profile, but can be changed to suit the campaign.
His stats are using a 20Pt buy, but if you like the concept I'll reroll. Of course if you like the concept I'll rebuild everything to match your campaign.
Let me know what you think.

Jaerric Insolitus |

I'm on U.S. Pacific Time, normally. I'm a grad student, so I should be able to post at least a few times during the day, and probably a few times on the weekend.
Also, I have part of Jaerric's background posted on the profile. Should be able to finish that in a bit, and then (depending on if my family wants to go anywhere or what) hopefully get the rest in tonight or tomorrow.
Edit: Blarg, almost forgot--if we need an arcanist, I can turn Jaerric into a sorcerer or witch with nearly the same background (don't think a Wizard would really fit how things are going). I can stat him up as such once I have this stuff finished.

Thanks for the update Jaerric. Please, only switch Jaerric to a sorcerer (or whatever) if that's what you want to play. I really want my players to be happy with who their character's are. It makes everyone have a better time.

Thanks for the submission Cecil! Go ahead and adjust him for the campaign if you're interested. It'll just make it easier for me to see how you'd fit into a party.
*Hint for Arcanists* All types of magic is usefull but I know that Divination and Control spells will come in handy
It may be early next week before I have time Or I may get inspired and do it all tonight. ;-)
I'm going to build him as a master summoner, but if you think boodmaster would be more fun I can make him a boodmaster fairly easily. Will roll stats shortly.

I would advise you to "get inspired" (lol) if at all possible because the recruitment board closes at midnight PST on Monday night. At that time I will only consider fully completed submissions for the campaign.
I should have a final party decided on by noon on Tuesday.

I'm working on it now, but he's going to be a standard summoner.

Cecil Von Spirito |

Alright, Cecil is basically done. I may play around with his feats a bit, including possibly getting rid of the familiar entirely.
I need to do a few things, but nothing that should affect the selection process. For example I have to build the familiar raven, but everything is standard.
Thoughts? Questions? Concerns?

Ok good. So far no one is too far from the posting schedule I had in mind.
@Kayla: Consumables are pretty ok with me, so your wands are good. However, wands will work more like staves in that they will only have 10 charges, but they can be recharged. 1 charge is restored everytime a spell of equal level is sacrifcied. No more than 3 charges can be replaced per day, and you can't sacrifice more than 1 spell per day to the wand.
Ex. a level 3 wand of whatever gains 1 charge if a 3rd level spell is sacrificed, 2 charges for a 6th level spell and 3 charges for a 9th level spell.
I do it this way because wands can keep their usefulness, but players don't feel immune cause there's not always a wand to save you after a fight :)
Does that make sense?
@Cecil: That looks good. I have a clearer picture of your character now.
Typically the woman's job to remind the men of practical things....
I see how you are 8) Well said.

Cecil Von Spirito wrote:What's your stance on Magic Item Creation?I covered that earlier, for the sake of time, please scroll up.
** spoiler omitted **
Got it. No problem. I have my items chosen including some wondrous items. As far as why he has what he does;
Cecil is a noble who likes nice things. You'll notice his mundane gear has some normal items with "extra flavor." For example; a full tea service set and his hand mirror is a filagree compac. He's very much a gentele noble type. He detests manual labor, but he has summoned creatures for just that purpose.
Also I overestimated the GP value of the mundane gear because All of it is "the best." He's a bit spoiled and I planned to play him that way. Still fun, but very Role Play.
I haven't decided if he's actually gay or if he's simply effeminate. I'm gay IRL, so it won't be done disrespectfully. Just entertaining. ;-)
