I'm actually not quite sure what to do with Corwin. His amulet was of course supposed to play a role, as was his family history. In character he wouldn't give up on finding out more. It feels weird to write him out, but I struggle to bit PCs well long-term. I can minmize the history stuff but it would make sense to keep him there. Would one of you be willing to bot Corwin, at least as far as combat goes?
He would then leave after receiving closure from his personal quest.

GMDQ |

Oh, and yes, Lark can get a crucible to melt the silver. Let's call it 5 gp.

GMDQ |

Thanks, Lark. We can assume Corwin grows quiet as he contemplates his grandfather's history, but this way we also keep the fighter for this party, which will make it easier for me to... uh, not kill you all.
I mean, I don't want it to be too easy...
Please post in the game thread when you're ready to go.
Charcoal is fine and inexpensive--we'll say 1 sp a pound for properly processed charcoal.

I probably should've had Lark run around behind the officer for flanking last turn! I was too worried about the AoO, but now I'm looking at having Corwin make that same move. I don't think it's even possible for him to dodge the AoO.
Unless... should Corwin Bull Rush the officer, try to make it fall to the lower level? Also, we need to protect Threnody.
Kahuranga - are you still going to try that hex again?

GMDQ |

I will note Corwin does far more damage than 2d6 falling damage. But pushing the officer to the lower level will make him have to move rather than attack and gives you more positioning/rescuing Threnody time.
(Which is to say I am not advising you either way, just hopefully pointing obvious features of both tactics)

thermopyle |

For future reference, can Corwin move over the stairwell to reach the other side of this platform?
Also, the Misfortune Hex applies to all rolls while it lasts (1 round in this case). I think that is what Kahuranga is using: AoN Witch Hexes

GMDQ |

Threnody, I am sure you have a highly well formed strategic plan, but I was thinking maybe you, you know, might want to read over your class abilities. You know, just for fun and no reason in particular.

GMDQ |

Only reason I said anything is that your party members may not be aware of your class abilities, and it appears Lark wants to discuss tactics. Also I was feeling highly silly when I typed that and rereading it it sounds much more snotty than I intended. So I am sorry about that.

Also: I had an extremely busy weekend and today is going to be insane due to a huge event I've organized that happens today. I had hoped to post yesterday and got distracted; I apologize. I will post the turn as soon as I can but it may not be until late tonight or tomorrow. Things will be much easier for me from about Wednesday on. I am sorry for the delay.

GMDQ |

Again sorry for the delay. Having a moment where I had my game notes, brain, and time to post an extensive combat post all at the same time was not happening. I'm still not sure where my brain is.
Good news is I am past the holiday event crunch and things should be smoother from here. Obviously I presume things will be slow around Christmas for most of us but I will have more time to post otherwise.

GMDQ |

You absolutely can spend the hero point to add to your Saving throw.
Re: Channel energy. Channel energy has to either target living or undead creatures, not both. Lathiira didn't describe it explicitly, but as he rolled saves for the undead, obviously that's what Sandara was targeting. So no, unfortunately you are not healed.
Corwin can walk on the narrow spaces but they halve his movement, because he has to squeeze over what for him a tight space. I would allow a DC 20 Escape Artist check to move normally through that space, but I doubt Corwin could make that in any case. He could also attempt an Acrobatics check to make a long jump over the area (DC 20 for 20 feet), but for similar reasons I am not sure he'd be able to succeed.

Lathiira |

I did think about healing you Lark, but I decided that blasting the enemy might get them to focus on something other than eating you. Since you getting eaten would be a bit of a drag and all. DQ did deduce I wasn't going for healing the living, I needed to remember to specify that.

thermopyle |

Lathiira - no worries about the healing, I think you made the right call.
I'm going to ask y'all to check my math: with Haste Corwin's move is now 60' so a double move should get him into position to flank Yoha with Lark.
I don't think there's any way for Corwin to get in a melee attack this round and it feels like setting up for next round or a potential AoO is marginally better than drawing his bow and shooting...

thermopyle |

Regarding Corwin's round 5 move - I described it as a "step" but he actually moved 10 feet. Sorry about the confusion.
Corwin was 5' away from Yoha and 10' from Lark, so he had to move 10' to get adjacent to Lark for that reach-around attack.
Either way, Taniwha just killed it, right? Perfect time for a critical hit!

GMDQ |

He did indeed, and how! And a great way to bring this combat to a close, just in time for the holiday.
I'll be absorbed in family stuff for the next few days. Though I will check in with my phone from time to time, it will be intermittent and I presume many of you also have family obligations this time of year. Merry almost Christmas, Happy 1st Day of Hannukah, and joyous growing of the light for you all.
If any of you are going to be incommunicado past 12/26 please let me know so I have a sense of when to really push to get things going. Thanks!

GMDQ |

Hi folks, hope your holidays have been going well. Please check in when you are ready to go.
FYI I have made this offer here to a group to apply to this game since we are low on players, if they can't find a better option. Let me know if any questions/concerns.

GMDQ |

It is an amazing plan and turned out way better than I expected. I wanted to give you a chance to do some creative problem solving and the vermin form was awesome.
