Marra doesn't notice any traps or anything out of the ordinary with the glass, and Anfial quickly smashes right through it before anyone else can back up her vision. She seems to be right, however; the ring drops to the ground harmlessly and the skeleton dissolves into dust when free of its tomb. The ring emanates even stronger waves of gratitude.

Behind the secret hatch lies a winding passageway that slants slowly upwards, in which no traps nor anything nefarious can be found. Several minutes later it opens onto a high dune on the blessed surface, from which the Bleak Portal can be seen perhaps a mile and a half away.

If you'd like to return and tell the mercenaries about this way out, it will take you about two hours to go to them and back. You aren't really on a time schedule anymore, though, the ring has been recovered and the trail of Amenopheus seems to have gone cold. Also,
could everyone start rolling their Day Job checks?

Essentially, Achistem is a div-blooded janni who was exiled from his tribe for his fiendish taint. At some point, he met up with an underground Usij cult (they were ancient Jistkan mages who worshipped Ahriman). That made him think he was some sort of avatar of the div lord, and he learned of the Society's discovery of the Citadel. He thought he could speed up his transformation into godhood by visiting the site of Ahriman's wrath so long ago, and the divs and Calipharo who already lived there were convinced he was such an avatar.

The journey back to the city is a grueling and uneventful week, the mercenaries thanking the team at every opportunity. It is nowhere near as hot as it was in the citadel, but still quite so. Back in Manaket, Venture-Captain Obo thanks you profusely upon hearing your report. He promises more teams will be sent to further investigate the citadel's secrets. He is also particularly interested in the Ring of the Weary Sky. "This will be sent directly to the Decimvirate for further analysis, but perhaps it will accompany you on your travels later."

The VC also charters ships to anywhere you desire to spend time before your next assignments and pays you handsomely. It has been quite the month you have spent together as a party, smuggling a cleric into the godless nation and fighting millennia-old menaces. Surely things will seldom be the same as the Pathfinders climb the ranks.
