Sorry, unexpected guests yesterday. I was thinking about either stepping back or even run away.
We need to find a place where we won't be surrounded.

Unexpected guests of such impact..... oh my. :/

I'm a little confused.

The orc attacking Phoebee, was killed by her before.

The creature attacking her now is a choker.
Do you mean that you are attacking the choker, or the she-orc?

Well, there was an orc still on the map… I wanted to post quickly, and didn't read Phoebe's actions, wanting to get rid of her foes..

So I'll attack the chocker instead, sorry for the confusion

After Nemesis acts, it’s the choker and chainsaw girl.

Then Phoebee and Mylvwara will act.

I think that’s right.

Chyro:

I've got to admit, I'm disappointed to be so severely affected by hidden-from-the-player success conditions. It really looks like anyone playing the whole AP will get to success level 10 pretty confidently. If we'd known that we *had* to be victorious in the other two locations then we probably would have taken the time to do it.
Not complaining about you, I really enjoy your GMing, just that there are hugely important factors at play that we have no clue about. Especially in play-by-post PFS where, to be honest, I don't think any of us really understood the setting/environment and were just getting on to the next cool adventure location.
When Angelface died in the spaceship it even made narrative sense for us to avoid the site.
So frustrating!

I hope you don't mind me reading that stuff while my leopard is still in play. I don't think it will impact the game and I really wanted to see whether we were doomed from the start.

Honestly, I think we were doomed anyway: Kulgara and Draigs together could easily have wiped our group and I don't see what we could have done against Hellion's Chassis!

This AP is tough.

I was thinking "retreat with parting shots".

I'd suggest casting grease beneath Kulgara. How you want to move otherwise is entirely your call.

I'm considering throwing my fireball after retreating into the tunnel - that would probably kill Brallenera, but it could well also kill Kulgara and the choker. Channeling would do less damage, but be safer.

There are such things as body-retrieval teams for the price of a few extra Prestige (or certain Boons).

Maybe we shouldn't have rushed into a room we could have been surrounded.

But I think something in PFS mechanism might be broken.
If your character dies, you have to pay quite a sum to come back. That's logical.
But you cant use that money to buy a better equipment, and you are required to play missions according to your level, with more and more dangerous foes.
So you die again, or at least your chances to die increase, and you won't NEVER have the same money than another character from the same level.

Awesome.

About the 5ft step and bird-shift, it looks like only Mythic Haste provides you an extra move action.

Mylvwara:

I agree with you.
For example, earning a 2nd PP in missions depends on strange conditions.
There was a mission in season 0, where you give the McGuffin to person [X], instead of person [Y] (who wants you to retrieve it), something which wouldn't come to mind at all normally.

This encounter came together from a variety of circumstances and, checking the GM table, this went up to a CR 11 fight.

Circumstances you'll read about, no doubt.
But yes, the crashed shuttle could have lowered the difficulty here, if things went better there. But that captain was dangerous.

So. I've been peeking in on Mylvwara's correspondence with GM Chyro, and...if I (or the 2 newercomers) die this way, that feels like a VERY raw deal; I was led into a massively excessive fight due to reasons and decisions made before I even came onboard with a chance to do anything about it. Magabeus stepped down from it, recently. I think Tyranius took the position. :o

I can very much understand Nemesis' worries, i would have preferred a different outcome, like you.

Regarding the reasons and decisions, allow me to clarify, if it makes more sense for you.

Part of the Iron Gods AP, is a reputation system, which rises with certain accomplishments. (winning specific fights, mostly)
The original team encountered a crashed space shuttle, which, upon completion, awards 1 reputation point.
One of the original team died, and the shuttle now houses two dangerous undead, and the team decided to stay clear of it thereafter.

If the reputation gets to [amount X], adds in fights down here will not be present. (chokers & brigands, in this case)

Unfortunately, the reputation has not yet reached that amount and, per the PDF, some enemies join the initial encounter up here in the control room, under certain conditions. It's a mix of various inconvenient circumstances.

With what has transpired before was it possible to earn th me reputation points?

Loot sheet No plunder, no pay Battle map--Misc info slides

From what i gather, and i've asked on the boards prior, the PCs start out with 8, and can get reputation for clearing the shuttle, and defeating the arena master.

They did the latter, effectively i'll add.

Nemesis, as to your question of prone & 5ft step.

d20, Combat movement wrote:

Crawling

You can crawl 5 feet as a move action. Crawling incurs attacks of opportunity from any attackers who threaten you at any point of your crawl. A crawling character is considered prone and must take a move action to stand up, provoking an attack of opportunity.

Reference via feat

In addition, 5ft steps, stepping is done while walking, afaik.

To your question of alternate actions, what would they have been?

The frustrating thing is that we had no idea, otherwise we would probably have revisited the crash site.

Also, for PFS you need a perfect run to reach the success condition.
In the original AP, player outside of PFS, there are enough ‘success points’ available that you do not need a perfect run. The AP ‘expects’ PCs to achieve the success conditions.
