The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

Everyone!

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

The night passes and the party eventually dies down. Early the next morning there is reports of contact with Mendev forces. The ripple of Rumor runs though the camp: Scouts!
The two are brought in to the conference room to meet you. They wear the armor of crusaders and look exhausted, but alert and ready.

Thrall stands ready for their words, eager to know whether the situation has spread or it has been taken under control for now. Of course, Irabeth's the leader and so he lets her speak first. A command chain is a command chain, after all.

Balthasar enters the conference room, Radiance at his side. Somewhere he'd found a holy symbol of Iomedae to wear. The banner of Mendev is hung on the wall - tattered and a little dirty, but proudly displayed. In the end, the crusaders had managed to hold Kenabres, and had prevented Areelu Vorlesh's plot to use the Wardstone fragments to turn the crusaders into demons.

Balthasar approaches the scouts and says, "Balthasar Heimrin. A pleasure to meet you both."

He then waits on Irabeth to speak with them. After all, a command chain is a command chain.

Serena, too, waited near the back. Following protocol was important - if she had something to contribute (and she didn't yet), she'd just get some attention at that point. Greed and selfishness were the demons' way, not hers.

Not overly eager at having been summoned to a meeting with Crusaders, Arianna stayed to the back corner of the room allowing the more personable and respectable members of the party take the lead in this situation.

Bitey stirs from his drunken stupor, roused by the commotion. He rises slowly and stumbles forward towards the new arrivals, each foot finding a little more strength until his stumble becomes a mad scramble to get to the newcomers.

"Bark Bark, new peoples, woof woof yarp yarp yarp."

Bitey bounds forwards on all fours, happy and excited by the prospect of new persons that may not know about his appetites. He could almost taste the new chances for treats.

"Bitey so happy see new peoples bring much chickens and tasties for Bitey. Bitey is yours bestest friend of friends. You give Bitey the Horse Dog Lizard much in the munchens and crunchens yes Yes YES!!!"

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

The men looks warily at Bitey before saluting and giving their report. The taller of the two speaks, I am Scout Tinman and I bring news. The Queen herself is but a few days out with an entire army at her back. We have had suspiciously little contact with the enemy over the last few hours, so I thought it best to talk to you in private. What contact have you had? Where have the Demons holed up?

Bitey gives an exaggerated approximation of a salute. "Queen bring chickens then? Bitey eat all the bad guys already, now Bitey need real food."

Balthasar returns the scouts' salutes. "Down Bitey. We'll get you chicken as soon as we can," Balthasar says. To the scouts, he says, "That is good news. Kenabres has been hard hit. The demons last fortress in the city we knew of was the Grey Garrison - we took it yesterday. They had a plan to use the fragments of the Kenabres Wardstone - shattered in the attack on the city - and plans to use them to subvert the protective field and use it to transform all of the Crusaders into demons. After we disrupted their plan, they may have fallen back to lick their wounds."

Seeing that all of them are allowed to speak, Thrall nods at Balthasar's words, and when he's finished, the half-orc ads his own.

"We'd be wise not to throw our hands in the air too much, though. They've been weaving this plot for so long, it's feasible that they had this inconvenience planned for and keep a contingency for it."

While speaking, he recalls the ambush the evil guys had set for them at the last room of the Grey Garrison.

"There are only so many plans you can handle, though." Serena opined. "The Crusades haven't held out this long by being something the demons can just growl at or trick, however chaotic they may be."
