A male voice speak out from around the corner. "Glybweote, the keeper of this area, guardian of the plates. I presume you are this traveller's companions? Is there just the four of you? Are you prepared for my two riddles?"

Sczarni

Female Human Rogue 10 (hp 82/82) | F +7 R +11 W +9 | AC 24 T 15 FF 24 CMD 27

"Riddles? You did not have enough fun with the doors?"

Grand Lodge

Male Shoanti Barbarian 10 HP: 102/102 l AC: 12 /T: 12/FF: 10 l Fort: +13, Ref: +6, W: +9 l Init: +2 l Per: +5 l Movement: 40

Taurus clears his throat and takes a spot adjacent Asher.

"Ask your riddles. We have one of the Society's sharpest minds among us."

That's you Erin.

Male Bear Burglar 1

I made the map a google doc, let's see if I can make this work with the map not being editable to me at work.

The Man-sphinx doesn't move from his spot and wiggles his tail around as he lies there. "I know not what is above. I am bound here to ensure only those of right mind can attain the runeplates. I have deemed none worthy in centuries. If you are ready for my riddles..."

"What virtue acts long after others, yet rules supreme over six jealous brothers?"

Grand Lodge

Any checks we can make for these?

Male Bear Burglar 1

There is none listed in the scenario for this. I will note that all the answers have been at least somewhat relevant. within the scenario somehow.

Grand Lodge

Male Shoanti Barbarian 10 HP: 102/102 l AC: 12 /T: 12/FF: 10 l Fort: +13, Ref: +6, W: +9 l Init: +2 l Per: +5 l Movement: 40

Well then I'm going to go with the obvious answer.

"Sloth."

It's either that or patience but do the bad guys think of their own mojo as vices?

Male Bear Burglar 1

The sphinx pauses a moment, possibly for dramatic effect. "Correct. Very quick wit."

"He silently sleeps while the world above toils. His slumber stretches countless moons. He awakens to claim Golarion’s spoils. His enemies fear this master of runes."

Grand Lodge

Male Shoanti Barbarian 10 HP: 102/102 l AC: 12 /T: 12/FF: 10 l Fort: +13, Ref: +6, W: +9 l Init: +2 l Per: +5 l Movement: 40

It's probably not appropriate for Taurus to know this but since this seems to be a mostly meta-puzzle anyway...

"Krune, Lord of Sloth."

Male Bear Burglar 1

They're basically current events, so even the 5 Int Demon Tiefling can know what they are, with a few mental leaps of faith.

The sphinx pauses again. "Very good, you have bested my test presnted to me oh so long ago." The sphinx moves backwards and waves you to the left path. "What you seek is down that path."

Grand Lodge

Male Shoanti Barbarian 10 HP: 102/102 l AC: 12 /T: 12/FF: 10 l Fort: +13, Ref: +6, W: +9 l Init: +2 l Per: +5 l Movement: 40

I have that character!

Taurus regards the sphinx with a nod and then leads the party down the left path. He keeps an eye on the beast until it's out of sight.

"That seemed too easy."

Male Bear Burglar 1

The hallways lead 10ft wide, and wiggle around.

@Erin:
DM RULEZZ: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30 D'oh, now I'm sad. There's the best trap in a PFS scenario ever in front of the front line, and you're gonna friggen' disable it. Now the Ruby Prince is gonna die! How's that going to make you feel, you jerk? D':

Sczarni

Sczarni

Female Human Rogue 10 (hp 82/82) | F +7 R +11 W +9 | AC 24 T 15 FF 24 CMD 27

"Wait a second, there is something here."
She says sharply before hunching down to examine the hall.
Disable Device 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31

Male Bear Burglar 1

That was not a 1 or a 2. Now, I'm no DM-vs-Players DM, but now I am King Grumpyface you didn't open it up. If only we were in high tier, if only.

Erin fiddles with the floor in a few spots to gum up some pressure plates. It should be disabled now.

KULIK nods as Taurus calls the tests too easy and then follows the Shoanti down the path. Even KULIK might have known those answers.

Once Erin indicates that it's safe, Taurus continues leading the way.

Male Bear Burglar 1

Aaaaanyways, sidetracked myself. Moving on and updated the map.

The hallways leads to an ornate archway. Inside, the octagonal chamber’s finely cut stone walls and floors offer a sharp contrast to the irregular architecture of the sole passage that opens into it. A dark marble pedestal supports a stack of hand-sized iron plates, and a small pile of gemstones glitters in one of the room’s corners.

"I hope so, because that means those are fair game."
Erin says while pointing to the pile of gems in the corner. She then walks to the center of the room to examine the plates and marble.
"However, I have to see if there is anything crazy about this pedestal first."

Male Bear Burglar 1

You're not any detecting traps from the center of the room.

Sczarni

Erin makes her way carefully through the rest of the room.
If I do not see anything after checking the rest of the room I will be picking up the plates.

Did I miss something beyond 'hand-sized iron plates'? Is anything written/etched in them? Are they glowing with obvious magic?

Sczarni

Female Human Rogue 10 (hp 82/82) | F +7 R +11 W +9 | AC 24 T 15 FF 24 CMD 27

Gems!
Erin hands the plates off to Taurus, then goes to gather the gems.

Male Bear Burglar 1

Erin's treasure pile contains include eight topazes, five diamonds worth 625 gp each, 1,400 gp in archaeic coinage, and a ring (with more fancy, probably magic squiggles!)

The stack contains seven iron rune plates, each inscribed on one side with (what you can assume is) Thassilonian runes. As for magic, there is nothing to the mundane eye that is magic.

Should Kulik try to detect some magic...:
The plates radiate moderate Transmutation magic. Also, the ring detects magic (Moderate, no school.)

Sczarni

Female Human Rogue 10 (hp 82/82) | F +7 R +11 W +9 | AC 24 T 15 FF 24 CMD 27

Taurus looks over the plates briefly before tucking them into his pack.

"She's outside the way we came. I left her someplace hopefully out of sight any hungry wildlife."

KULIK detects magic as the Shoanti puts the plates away, then scans the rest of the room and points out the ring to Erin. He appears lost in thought as the banter goes on, then slowly speaks his mind.

Zonaladin dragon talk about Lisshalan cultishts, but Brute Shquad find no cultishts here. Zonaladin dragon was not evil, but shtory not fit. Shomething not right.

He glares carefully about the chamber.

Just occurred to me that KULIK is still 23 points down. He's going to use his wand to heal up.

So the dragon killed them then?

All the way out, unless anyone has any objections. We only needed the plates right?

Male Bear Burglar 1

He's a pretty good guardian, and earned his two negative levels + curse + magic fatigue the hard way. And yeah, the plates were your primary mission.

I don't think so. But I think something is going to interrupt us on the way back.

Male Bear Burglar 1

The keyword of optional encounters is "optional". I hate those "WHY IS THIS CREATURE HERE?" thing? There's still more to the scenario, though...

As the party exits, they right around the statue and see a big dragon eye peering into the doorway, like a girl and a dollhouse. In an awkward, mildly bashful tone, he looks to Taurus in the lead. "So, uh, hey. Did you find anything in there?"

Please reference the first time you met this guy for relevant rules for convincing dragons of things.

"It would bore you. It bores me. We're ready to head home."

Male Bear Burglar 1

"I think you've got my interests pegged wrong. If the evil in there is gone, then I'm pretty much free to go. I want to make sure I can leave."
