KULIK is saddened that it has come to this. However, he will not allow his friends to fight the misguided beast alone.
In Common, he says, KULIK ashk friends to not kill confushed dragon. Confushed dragon not evil. He then casts silence on the first visible apex point directly behind the dragon.

Even so, the dragon wouldn't have tripped himself. Taurus's CMD is only 33 while total defensing. You have to fail by 10 to fall on your face. =(
Edit: Dragons use spell-like abilities. SLAs don't have verbal components so silence won't affect them.

That and I'm pretty sure he's done casting spells and he's going to commence with the ripping of faces. Probably mine if history is any indicator.

Oh, I mathed it up as if you had the three ranks in acrobatics to get super-defensive-fighting. *shrug*

Ashur needs a Reflex and a Fortitude for the breath weapon (unless he's somehow resisting all this acid.) I need a Will from everyone vs Fear.
Ashur Glaber
|
Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Fort: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
Stupid Fear!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
| GM Burglar |
How fortunate for me; he has an odd number of hit dice, so his negative level doesn't affect his DC's; I coulda just posted them. Derp.
DC 22 for the breath, 21 for the aura. So, in summation, Ashur only takes 6d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 5, 1, 2) = 25 Acid, but is also Slowed for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 rounds.
Failing the fear effect makes you shaken for 5d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 4, 3) = 18 rounds.
Ashur Glaber

Oh, slowed. The bane of my existence. Anyone have a way of getting rid of this? I'm thoroughly neutered if we can't.
Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull

You still do more damage than me once my last two rage rounds are spent.
Taurus spins around as the space dog makes its reapperance.
With a roar that brings the massive bull horns out of his skull, Taurus tries to trample the hound underhoof.
Rage 1/2. Everything includes prayer and shaken.
Overrun: 1d20 + 27 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 27 + 1 - 2 = 44
Assuming that knocks it prone it takes 9 damage and:
Taurus drives a spiked shoulder into it…
Spiked Destroying: 1d20 + 18 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 18 + 1 - 2 = 27
Damage: 1d3 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 = 13
…drives his horns into it…
Greater Overrun Gore: 1d20 + 20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 20 + 1 - 2 = 36
Damage: 1d8 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 15 + 1 = 21
…and kicks it once more for good measure.
Vicious Stomp: 1d20 + 20 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 20 - 2 + 1 = 31
Damage: 1d3 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 15 + 1 = 19

Naturally, the Hound would pick THIS as an opportune time to show back up. I mean, it's evil, why doesn't the dragon attack it? :-|
At this point, I expect the statue to come alive and go to town, too.
Ash, Taurus, save vs. aura might be a Very Good Time to use a reroll shirt. I did not use Feral's, used my own.
Fear: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Move action to draw out KULIK's gift from Zarta, a bead of force; standard to throw it at the dragon (up to 60' with no range penalty). I presume it should be a touch attack?
Desperate gambit: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Mighty DC 16 Refl to avoid the sphere
Erin Alegra

5 foot left, full attack defensively on dragon, +3 AC.
Attack 1 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 (Flank, Shaken, Defensive)
Damage 1 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 (Flank)
Attack 2 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 (Flank, Shaken, Defensive)
Damage 2 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 (Flank)
Erin makes two more desperate swings at the dragon.
Ashur Glaber

Though his movements were slowed, Ashur was still fueled by gamma rage and his namesake horns do what they do.
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29
1d8 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26

Round 1 after Breath Attack 1:
At risk of strangers on the internet being mean again, I'm still going to follow tactics, despite how much murdering Ashur makes oh so much sense now. [sarcasm]Oh, I do hope I can handle the waves of hate this time.[/sarcasm]

Would the force damage still take effect? It's certainly debatable as to whether striking the dragon would be "sharp impact", but it also doesn't say that it's an either-or effect, hence my question.
KULIK activates Double Judgment (sacred justice +2, sacred resistance acid 6) and, seeing the dragon in retreat, readies an action to loose his bow attack if it elects to resume the combat.
| GM Burglar |
Oh, right. I read so much of Resiliant Sphere that I didn't roll the damage, do ho ho. 5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 3, 5) = 19 It is now added to my total in my spoiler house. Your readied will be going off, barring some clutch Calm Emotions action so feel free to roll it.
Kulik
|
A half-orc tries to reason with a copper dragon...nah, I don't even have a punch line for that. I don't suppose another Diplomacy roll would help? LOL
Diplomacy without a hope in the Hells of working: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Kulik
|
Haha, no...if anything, KULIK makes it worse. He is definitely learning to do that better after this debacle. LOL
Readied attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
| GM Burglar |
Action: Using Diplomacy to influence a creature's attitude takes 1 minute of continuous interaction. Making a request of a creature takes 1 or more rounds of interaction, dep...
Nope, but that 2 would have made for a really poor attack roll (that most likely affects his view of you in the same way as the diplomacy would have. do ho ho.

Taurus shakes the space-dog gore from his horns and boots and then gestures for the party to follow him as he exits west.
End Rage 1/2 Fatigued
Is there any reason we need to fight this thing? If it's playing keep away, can't we just nab our ride and go home?
Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull

Our escort is at least a 9th level wizard who has been authorized to use her magic to defend herself should the need arise. I'm sure she can handle a little acid breath.
The slowed tiefling is a bigger problem...
Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull

Thanks for the retcon Burgler. In the interest of expediting this can we say everyone spends their turns this round getting back indoors. Even slowed Ashur should be able to make it inside and Taurus will use his standard action to shut the door behind us.
| GM Burglar |
He did seem quite unhappy about the idea of fighting while slowed, though I am reluctant to assume actions (because that's one of my huge peeves as a player in any medium.) Though since Erin's on board (and everyone knows that he'll have to listen to her from now anyways until she dies of old age when he's barely hitting the old category,) I guess it passes. I'm going to bed soon anyways, though if you want to roll stuff in case he's not suicidal in staying out there.
Oh, and as far as the aura...
This special quality makes a creature's very presence unsettling to foes. Activating this ability is a free action that is usually part of an attack or charge. Opponents within range who witness the action may become frightened or shaken. The range is usually 30 feet, and the duration is usually 5d6 rounds. This ability affects only opponents with fewer Hit Dice or levels than the creature has. An affected opponent can resist the effects with a successful Will save (DC 10 + 1/2 frightful creature's racial HD + frightful creature's Cha modifier; the exact DC is given in the creature's descriptive text). An opponent that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to that same creature's frightful presence for 24 hours. On a failed save, the opponent is shaken, or panicked if 4 HD or fewer. Frightful presence is a mind-affecting fear effect.
Those who saved (were there any?) are golden. Those who didn't, assuming we're waiting out the time period, will get another save chance once the aura is activated again.
Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull

Heh, well maybe I'll roll a 15 next time.
Kulik get those buffs running and then we open the doors for round two.
Taurus waits for the lingering fear to fade and then draws a potion and waits for his companions to give the ready signal.
Kulik
|
KULIK made the Frightful Presence save.
I'm okay with retreating inside until Ashur's slow wears off.
While KULIK is out of prayer spell slots, he has five remaining for bless and has weapon of awe, which 1) doesn't stack with the sacred bonus from his Judgments, 2) lasts 8 minutes, and 3) isn't "personal" like divine favor is. It can't be cast on a natural weapon (which means Ashur is out of luck) but it can on unarmed strikes.
Also 3 charges to his wand of infernal healing to heal Ashur up now. Taurus, do you want KULIK's potion of fly?
KULIK will ask again, when the time comes, to not kill the copper dragon as it is not evil. Non-lethal on the last blow will do, or stopping when it drops to negative and allowing for a stabilize works too.
Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull
|
Bless and Weapon of Awe are a good idea. Infernal Healing isn't necessary. Ashur didn't end up taking any damage. Kulik's potion of Fly isn't necessary. Taurus has one of his own.
As for the non-lethal part, we can handle that discussion in-character since Burgler retired for the night and we have ~8 rounds of waiting around anyway.
"Kulik but we're putting your friend down. He's endangering the mission and we don't have the resources to waste anymore time trying to talk him down. I'm taking him down using whatever I have to. If you don't like it you can report me in your chronicle when we get back to the lodge."
Ashur Glaber
|
Hey, that's low making fun of Ashur's whipped-ness. In case the dragon uses it's non-lame version of it's breath weapon, he'll cast resist energy(Acid)on himself.
"Yea, what he said. We've given him a chance to let us do our job. Now we do what we have to. If he dies, I'm sorry Kulik. But he's getting the horns."
Erin Alegra
|
When Kulik's gaze shifts to her, Erin responds.
"I am sorry Kulik. I tried, and he will not listen to reason. He attacked us first, and we have already given him every chance to back off. He is not even just defending the tower anymore. It sounds like he has made things personal, especially with Ashur, and that does not sit well with me."
Kulik
|
You guys have gone all Ivan Drago on KULIK now: "if he dies, he dies." LOL
The humans and human-type thing were right, of course; they'd given every opportunity for Zondalain to withdraw, to no avail. It was as though something else had gripped the dragon's mind and wouldn't let go. Paranoia.
KULIK listens to his companions speak, is silent a while lost in thought, then turns to the them again. Taurus person mishinterperet KULIK. Mighty beasht dragon not friend of KULIK, KULIK not want dragon dead becaush dragon not evil. But dragon not friend of KULIK. You and you and you are. Alsho, dragon say mean wordsh about mother of Ashur human-type thing. We fight. We try not to kill. But if we need to kill, we do.
Ashur Glaber
|
"Good, then you understand." Ashur responds.
"Stupid dragon, calling me a demon. Of all the insulting things..." Ashur grumbles to himself.
Kulik
|
Okay, so: once Ashur's slow is gone, KULIK will cast weapon of awe on one of Taurus' and one of Erin's weapons, then bless, then drop a divine favor just before following the rest back out the door.
Taurus-Strong-Like-Bull
|
Yeah but you can judge for attack bonus and give yourself weapon of awe. You're going to be our primary damage dealer if it keeps at range so you're going to need every bonus you can get..
Ashur Glaber

What he said. I'm tempted to drink one of my potions of fly, but I'm afraid that in response, it'll melee me out of spite. AKA Green Market.
