Amnur notices the preparations to leave and excitedly prepares Ursa, and mounts his steed. Then he remembers something he forgot and goes back to his untidy bedroll, grabbing up his falchion and sliding it home across his back. Hopping onto Ursa in a single vaulting leap he turns to the others, "Where shall we go?" he asks with open curiosity.

No map access at work, lets head somewhere exploratory! Someone plot the course please. :)


The previous day...

Before the party leaves the slain creatures, Osmillar stops to study the two specimens, curious to find out more about their biology. He collects a small sample of venom, hoping that it will eventually be useful to develop an antidote if needed.

The night, after Osmillar's guard turn, again finds him burning the midnight oil and working on his formulas. He can feel he's just on the edge of a discovery; one that may just help them all.

Travis waits for the leaders - the trackers and those with some nature lore, and maybe those with weapons appropriate to clearing brush - to move out first, then follows right behind them, wary of local threats, flora or fauna.

"They're not a huge threat but we should be careful traveling around in case there are more. They're mildly poisonous and we can't afford to have too many of us laid up sick."

Wren gives Shilyn a good long stare.

"You'd want that scaly thing on your shoulder? You'd want that cold reptile for company? Hmpf! They are nothing like my good natured Plumie here, I'll tell you that!" Wren's hands reflexively go to make sure Plume is safe and sound on her shoulder. "Oh, that won't be a good idea at all."

Wren shakes her head.

"Maybe we could find you a nice man to cuddle with up. Did you see one that you like around here, do you?" Wren leans in close to Shilyn to gossip.

Shorga lets Ursa pick her path as they follow the beach westward, his face happy despite the blood-shot eyes and constant sweating from his pronounced forehead. The salty breeze from the ocean keeps him slightly cool, and just being out of his bed seems to have brightened his spirits immensely. He looks down at the others, walking along on their own two feet and pats Ursa is a gesture of friendship and gratitude, "You're the besht horshe on thish island Ursha. I meant it." He tries to keep his eyes peeled for anything shiny or interesting or dangerous, the strange birds from yesterday still remembered.

You make camp for the night after a day of exploring the northwestern coast, and as you do an interesting thing happens...

As Alphonse puts another log in the fire, this one a little heavier... The fire falls into the ground. The rest of the ground begins to slide toward the hole.

Reflex saves:

Shorga, Travis and Shi fall in. The rest of you make it back to "safety". You land softly on something moist, which is mold, if your nose doesn't deceive you.

Those of you on the top, you can see that the fall is only maybe 15-20 feet down, nothing lethal.

With a take 10 perception, you can hear cluttering around in the darkness around you. The fire is extinguished from the fall, so those of you without dark or low light vision can't see anything. Those of you who can see, don't like what you see. Skeletal creatures have noticed you... and at that point I roll your INIT.

Wren stands in the surprise round, taking a looksee at the horrors (the undead, not just the PCs) in the hole.

Yes, and yes Alphonse. I think that it is common knowledge that you wouldn't try to pierce a skeleton with a rapier, when a sledge hammer is nearby. If you want to waste a round RPing, I don't mind you doing that, and you *might* get rewarded for good RP, but I think that there is enough working knowledge with skeletons to figure that out on the fly, without needing someone else to tell you. It is always a good idea to shout it out, though. In case a player doesn't know, or just forgets.

That is right Wren. I will forget 10 more times, so keep reminding me! :) Wren is not considered prone for round 1. Wren, per your knowledge these are regular old skeletons and zombies. Nothing too difficult for the group.

As wren looks further she notices that there is a treasure chest on the north end with some gold spilling out.

Fixed the map Trav. Sorry, messing around with some light and fog of war settings. Still don't have it 100% because of time constraints.

Shorga coughs to clear some dust from his throat and then notices the creatures all around them, "Lookout! It's the undead!" he shouts in a dazzling display of intellect. He draws his weapon and touches a hand to his horse, standing nearby, murmuring something in orcish. Ursa responds by tensing her body, and lashing out with her strong jaws to try and bite the nearest foe.

Shorga stands and draws weapon, and is out of actions. Ursa stands and attacks.

Shilyn, you are at 9/9. I made a mistake and had a skeleton stand up, move and attack in one turn, which was too much.

One skeleton downed in round 1 from the combined effort of Wren and Shilyn "acid poking."

The monsters started to surround the group.

I'm not precisely sure where Alphonse IS (whether he's supposed to be at the edge of the hole, or me and Wren are actually off the boat) but I think I have the actions for this either way.

Alphonse drops his rope on the ground at the edge of the hole when he sees the undead moving in on his companions.

Well, this is a spectacularly dumb idea. he thinks to himself, and drops in.

Whipping out his sword and shield, he looks around for a target.

Spotting a zombie right next to him, he swings his Falcata at the creature, two handed.

Weak crit, but that still amounts to one (almost) dead undead. The zombie falls unconscious.

Shorga smiles at the cascading sound of bones tumbling over his blade as the skeleton is destroyed. He turns his attention to the remaining foes, calling out to the others, "Undead are dying!" he says with obvious positivity and excellent powers of observation. Noticing the cunning Travis moving into a flanking position, Shorga takes advantage of it, bringing the falchion up, down, and the back up towards the zombie in a great sweeping motion, trying to cut the zombie in two from the bottom up.

I wanted to step west to give Travis a chance to double flank... but I don't think the dumb Shorga would think of that--- on his own.

Round 3 results:

Travis drops a zombie.

Os lights a zombie on fire and Shilyn proceeds to shishkabob it. Another zombie down.

Alphonse, takes another zombie very closely down to nothing, and Wren paces about waiting for the precise moment and then misses, as does Shorga.

We have a zombie left with a couple hit points and 2 skellies, which I am going to say that you proceed to dismantle in another round.

Looking in the chest and around the ship you find in usable condition.

415 gold pieces, some silverware and plates (eating utensils, pots, pans etc), 15 arrows, 11 bolts, 5 broken scimitars, and one torch that seems to have magical properties. You also find a book that seems to explain how one that had the proper knowledge could create food and knowledge. The text seems to be religious in nature.
