"Well, shock, startlement and even surprise. Not a response, and boom! She is gone. Sad."

Quick to wipe away that disappointment, Osmillar draws a thick tome from his pack, diving right back into the pages of Plants and trees of the Mwangi Expanse.

Shorga; Castor says hi.

Going for a support build; I intend to take the infusion discovery and pass around potions in battle, while providing some cover fire with bombs.

this is seriously the largest amount of characters I have put in the running for a campaign.

Travis looks over at the sleepy-eyed halfling and resists the urge to pat her on the head like a child. She's no child and is probably only half your age, idiot.

"Sorry, didn't know you had an issue with strong drink, ma'am. I'd offer you some of mine, but it is at least as strong as vodka. Perhaps some mead or even something non-alcoholic for you?"

lol, Logan, sounds like the start of a joke: "a half-orc, werewolf, tiefling, birdthing and aasimar walk into a bar..."

"Hullo Logan, nice... tattoos?" he says, taking a guess as to their origin. "Quite the fashion in Varisia these days.

"Varisia?" Logan inquires.

is it some country in this land?

"You are mistaken, Tiefling. These tattoos are the mark of great prowess in the name of the Aeon Legion. I would get them removed, but they are enchanted so that they stay there forever."

Travis, Mead is one of the single most alcoholic beverages ever made. More than a thimbleful can severely poison someone who has not built up a resistance.

"No, no, s'fine... s'fine."

And with that, she trails back to sleep.

You can tell that she's still really drunk.

mead is also thick and rich, and drunk usually in small quantities

"Poor thing, I guess her small body can't handle much alcohol... I hope she's going to be okay."

He turns his attention to Logan and lofts a brow questioningly. "I'm afraid I haven't heard of the Aeon Legion. It sounds formidable, whatever it might be. They are quite attractive on you, I must say, and give you the look of ferocity. Will you tell us, if you can, of this Legion?"

"The Aeon Legion..." Logan begins her explanation. But as she is about to continue, her tattoos start glowing, and a look of pain crosses her face.

"...Is... one of the greatest armies across the planes... The Great City of Aeon... AGH!"

a sharp pain goes through even the minds of those near her, and she sits back in the chair, panting.

"I am sorry. I cannot tell you. I can tell you this: These tattoos are the Deserter's Mark. I had not realized they would appear even as no one noticed me."

"Obviously their magic isn't 'friendly'... I won't ask again, you don't have to say more. I'm sorry my inquiry led to this. So, perhaps you can simply tell us what brings you here this fine night. I hope that is an innocuous enough query."

"I am trying to find out why the Le... *ahem* they... allowed a minor wound to kill my brother. I believe the answer might be in the jungle; cousins of the Ophiduan live there, and might know the answer."

"I am stopping here to rest awhile."

"I'm not familiar with the... Ophiduan, did you say? You are obviously much more informed of the world than I am... I admit I grew up in a rather singularly sheltered environment. I AM sorry for your loss, however. Losing family is never easy. I had no real siblings, but I lost my wife not long ago. I share your pain."

I hope my children never have to suffer such a loss... may they both live long and happy lives.

He raises his half-filled glass, which he has been nursing for some time, fiddling with the glass, but not drinking. "To rest, then, and renewal." He takes a sip from his glass, and then tosses back the remainder, followed by a deep sigh.

I really need to drink less. It does not jibe well with my training to bury my sadness in the fog of drink.

Background's up.

Logan raises her drink. "To renewal."

Zachary signals a server over. "More ale, please."

Right off the bat, looking at the list that Mug/Shorga provided I would recommend that Painlord/Wren (mage), Allie (Rogue), and Andando Morte (Rogue) bring another class to the table. Not that your characters aren't great, they are. They just overlap with the current party.

I am, of course, happy and willing to bring in a different yahoo than Wren. The basics of my playstyle won't change: good RP, focus on interactions with hooks and pushes, timely posting, and solid mechanics.

Wren looks again at the menagerie and smiles.

This is like home to me. "Isn't that right, Plumie?" Wren strokes the bird and gives Shorga a wink and half of a yellow-toothed smile.

She seems lost in her thoughts, she has more to say, but delays in saying it, letting the group expose themselves more fully.

I have these things too.

After a rather long break, that unforunately led to Elsie the Cat leaving, and not paying anymore attetion to him, Vasily returned to the table with his nandolin.

Hefting a refill of his stout, he surveyed the room, eyes settling on the lycanthrope, Zachary.

"Come, man! A favorite tune? "Bad Moon Rising", perhaps?" the Varisian entertainer counts the few coins in his hat, shuffles them into his pocket, and strums a few chords, trilling notes here and there without a real tune.

"Werewolves of London. If it doesn't exist yet, make it up!"

We have decided.

I know it sounds cliche and politically correct (and all that BS) to say that we would be happy with any of the players, but I think we honestly would. If we had a random number generator and rolled, I think that we would be happy with the results no matter what.

With that said, I thank you personally for your efforts and it has been a pleasure for me getting to know the characters. We have selected, based on party fit, and roleplaying comfortability ( I made that word up ) the characters of Wren (played by Painlord) and Alphonse Veritas (played by Rynjin). Would you two please post ASAP on the discussion thread that I will PM to you so we can get started.

Everyone else, it was a close race. Very close. If there are any drops I will be keeping this thread open, so feel free to do the same because I will come right back here for the choosing in case we need a replacement.

Thanks again, and GOOD JOB! SWEDISH FISH FOR EVERYONE!

You are all free to PM me if you would like an explanation of why your character wasn't selected, to further help you get into games in the future. I might be running another game in the future (either PFS or an AP, it just depends on how busy I am or am not in a couple months, so look for that too).

Welcome Rynjin and Painlord... I look forward to gaming with you! To those who weren't selected - maybe next time, eh? Fun rp'ing with all of you in the tavern.

Congrats to those who made it and thanks to all those that applied. It was close and your fun ideas and engaging RP made choosing extra difficult.

See you all on the boards!

Castor! Glad you made it to the recruitment party, even if it was a little late. :)

Hi all, Variel Whitestorm here. I hope it's ok I drop by. I heard that you were in need of a healer. I applied for a AP with Mary at level 4 but would prefer to start an AP at first level if I can get into one. Mary is an oracle of life with channeling at first level. I will have to redo her stats to go back to first level and change the traits a bit. Besides healing is there anything you as a group would like for skills to give myself the best chance?

I think between us we have most skills covered, so whatever tickles your fancy.

I could be mistaken though.

for this module, it wouldnt hurt to have some knowledge nature or survival of your own, to either assist, or make your own rolls... but that is based on the player guide, not any real knowledge of the scenario... just a guess on my part.

That said, we DO have a ranger, so those skills WILL be covered and I know oracles only get 4 sp per level... so like Ryn said, whatever floats your boat.

Ok thanks. I did see that you are thinking about going with the alchemist from the original recruiting. I understand completely. However if there is a change of mind PM me and I will ave Mary ready to go with background and crunch for your perusal.

Thanks Mary!
