My bad, didn't check the map and I missed that it retreated 10 feet. (my fault for not waiting until break to check in) I've moved myself on the map. Ignore the iterative attack.
Would I have been able to get an AoO against it since I wasn't paralyzed?
Dragorin |
Get back her WITCH! Bellows Dragorin as he thunders around the stall towards the building the woman is clinging too.
OK, if I cast Order's Wrath can I aim the spell so one of the corners is the corner of the building and have it spread out from there or do I need to see the center of the area of effect?
Focusing his energies again as he runs he creates a grid of axiomatic energy bathing the side of the building in bright intersecting lines.
[ooc]Order's Wrath

If not he'll just move 20ft forward.
Basalte |
Basalte runs after the red-tongued undead, waving his massive sword at it.
Double move again... What an exciting fight for Basalte! All I've done so far is move, move, move...
GM Bold Strider |
Desmond fends off paralysis as he crunches his morningstar into the mohrg, but the creature still seems full of vitality, for a mohrg that is.
@Dragorin: I would think that you need to see the middle of the spell location as it is a burst? "A burst's area defines how far from the point of origin the spell's effect extends."
As Basalte runs up towards the alley where the undead ran, he seems them at the end of the alleyway.
The red mohrg turns and leaps at Basalte, licking him before retreating ten feet back into the alley.

Halbarad of Arbor |
"Apologies, Dragorin. Now if you'll excuse me..." Hal digs in his knees and trots towards the edge of the building, looking for a clear shot at the woman. But, she is gone!
"Seven hells, where did that woman go? I WILL KILL YOU!" he shouts into the cool night air.
As he turns his mount towards the sounds of fighting elsewhere in the market, a flick of his wrist produces a wand, with which he taps himself. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Double move for mount, swift to retrieve wand, standard to cast, free actions to talk and guide mount w/knees. HP 37/72.
Terrill Mayern |
Terrill isn’t sure where the woman has disappeared to, but he knows there are still foes to fight. He runs like lightning through the market, casting a spell on himself as he goes.
Use boots of speed for 70’ move speed (round 1/10 today), single move and cast divine favor.
You may be tracking this already, DM, but Dragorin did cast invisibility purge earlier, so if he gets within 55’ of the vampire she will become visible again.
Also, given Halbarad’s actual position when I cast PfE on him, I didn’t need to use my boots of speed to get there in a single move action last round, so this round was my first use of them today.
Spells left: 5/4/3/1
Basalte |
Sorry about the save, I completely missed that.
Fort: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 232d4 + 18 ⇒ (1, 2) + 18 = 21
Also, please note that he won't be able to use Spring Attack against Basalte in this case, since the feat states: "Benefit: As a full-round action, you can move up to your speed and make a single melee attack without provoking any attacks of opportunity from the target of your attack. You can move both before and after the attack, but you must move at least 10 feet before the attack and the total distance that you move cannot be greater than your speed. You cannot use this ability to attack a foe that is adjacent to you at the start of your turn."
Also, you had him move 15 feet on the map, not 10 like in your description.
GM Bold Strider |
@Basalte: The mohrg and the vampire spawn were actually at the end of the alley, not where the icon was, hence the arrow. You lost sight, so I was just showing you where they were heading last. Either way, the AoO missed, so the result is the same. I did misquote the distance he moved back into the alley, however. It is 15'.
Desmond fends off paralysis as Terrill moves to aid Basalte.

He then draws his rapier.
Is this last round's action, then?
The elemental stalks off after it's quarry. Tremorsense and pun intended.

Flinders calls out to the earth elemental, in Terran, askingit if has found the woman. If it repsonds and indicates the area, Flinders casts a spell, filling the area with glitter.
Meanwhile, the elemental will attack the woman, if it knows where she is.

Edit: Ninja'd. Is the building stone? Can the elemental earth slide through it?
Assuming Flinders can't target where the woman is for his spell, he will take out an oil of invisibility and give Faraz and oily massage!
"The woman is on the roof!" Flinders calls out.
GM Bold Strider |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
The creature would have to climb the building and can't earth glide as I don't think there is enough stone in the construction to support a Large Earth Elemental. (It would spend both move actions to climb 20' up the side of the building). Also, I just realized that she might have been outside the tremorsense if vertical distance is factored as she is 30' up (roof level) and over 30' away as the vibrations have to travel through connected surface area not direct line. I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of getting the woman with Glitterdust with the Earth Elemental's identification.
Edit: Also, giving the oily rubdown to Faraz is hilarious.
As Dragorin finishes casting his Invisibility Purge, the vampire invisibly smirks and Dragorin's spell fails in a burst of flame.
Readied Dispel Magic for Next Dragorin Spell - DC 22: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Flinders sends the earth elemental to injure the woman as it starts to climb the building, leaving giant, gaping holes in the side of the building where it slams its rocky form to make handholds.
Flinders sensually opens a bottle of lavender-scented oil and begins to massage Faraz. The Champion of Irori becomes invisible with every movement.
Desmond crushes the Mohrg with two brutal blows, however the creature still stands, though it is likely on its last bone.

Am I now acting before or after the fireball? If it's before, I don't know what square she's in. If after, I've got a shot. Actions pending.
Halbarad of Arbor |
Gotcha, thanks.
Watching the elemental climb, Hal does some backpedaling on his mount to get some distance--looking to take advantage of the range of his bow. Th'reiwa-don's beak certainly isn't reaching the roof, anyhow. He takes another tap from his wand, waiting for a target. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Don't think that changes the spread of the fireball much, so I still get hit when it goes off. HP will be 19/72.

"Thanks again, Terrill," Desmond blurts out as he runs past the inquisitor trying to help out Basalt, based on the cries he'd been hearing earlier.

Basalte cuts into the mohrg with his dagger, but the creatures wheezes and bounces like it is laughing at the man.
