Honestly, not paying much attention to that stuff since this fight might be interesting in person, but still likely not as these guys are SUPPOSED to try and jump you in the maze in groups of four or five. Starting and stopping combat over PbP for you guys each to launch a salvo of attack before they get to act seems more pointless than this fight. I guess I'm trying to say. Did you even take any damage? ;-)
Dragorin

So are we out of combat?
If not Dragorin will use burning hands on as many as possible.
Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1, 2) = 12 DC 16 reflex for half
Atum Nakhti

When I ran this I remember a certain Bold-Striding paladin punching morlocks in the face left and right. Yeah, it's hard to make this combat challenging. I think even in core-mode it would still be a wash.

Not out of combat, yet.
Atum, Hal, Desmond and Terrill each take out one morlock apiece with their weapons as Dragorin steps forward and blasts more of the underground dwellers with holy fire.
Dragorin: 1d7 ⇒ 7
The remaining seven morlocks are seriously burned and flee from the Pathfinders who killed most of them in under six seconds.
Karu just boldly strode through and used the Champion of Irori ability Sweeping Smite to take down like... twelve or something in one round. It was sickening... ;-)
As you make your way through the maze-like fortress, you see tons of pits, likely where the morlock horde funneled their prey to rain down death, however it seems that the Pathfinders have already dealt with this threat.
Moving through the maze, the broken ruins spread out here into a larger space. The floor is clear of rubble, as if deliberately swept clean. In the center of the chamber stands a silver bubble that rises up to touch the ceiling of broken stone 30 feet above. It appears to be formed from liquid silver, with ripples and eddies continually flowing across its surface. All manner of animal and humanoid bones—each picked clean—are stacked around the base of the dome.

"What's with the giant bubble?" Atum asks. "Something tells me that whatever we need is in there. One of you magic users: tell me what I'm looking at. And when if I should try to break it."
Halbarad of Arbor

"Bizarre." Hal comments gruffly. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 70/72hp.
Terrill Mayern

"No idea what this thing is, but maybe I can figure it out," Terrill says. He lifts one hand and concentrates on the strange, metallic silver bubble.

Basalte
|
"I wonder what sustains it." notes Basalte. "Shall we try and smash it?"
Halbarad of Arbor
|
Hal embraces his inner troubleshooter.
"Everybody back up." Once everyone is as far away from the object as possible, he looses an arrow into the hemi-sphere, watching closely to see what happens.
Flinders Offendurr
|
Flinders glances at Halbarad. "Rydych chi wedi bod o gwmpas y garreg pennawd un, yn rhy hir." He says wryly.
Halbarad of Arbor
|
Hal grins back at Flinders, running his fingers through the arrows fletching. "Mae'n costio pum darn copr i gael eich dân datryswr problemau saeth i mewn i'r peth glowy rhyfedd, a bum can mil o ddarnau copr i godi eich datryswr problemau oddi wrth y meirw. Desmond Aesculus
|
Desmond picks up a bone, hoping to get a femur, and throws it at the silver dome.
He offers a useless shrug to his companions.
| GM Bold Strider |
Halbarad fires off a single arrow at the shimmering dome as Desmond roots through the bone pile next to it.
Twang!
The arrows flies true and strikes the dome, pausing as if held aloft by the tip as the quicksilver seems to vibrate before the arrow is flung backwards, nearly hitting Desmond in the eye.
Dragorin
|
Well that was mildly amusing, but now what?
Atum Nakhti
|
"Break our way in?" Atum suggests. He moves up to the sphere and swings his bec de corbin at it. If that doesn't work, he throws his own body at it.
Desmond Aesculus
|
Desmond gives Halbarad the stink-eye after dodging the arrow. He shrugs off the miss and gets back to considering the silver dome.
"So...wait, Atum - your hammer went through this quicksilver stuff, right? It hurt a little? Well, maybe we could just charge our way in?"
Desmond, draws his falchion and rushes at the dome, trying to break through the surface.
I don't know.
Desmond Aesculus
|
As Desmond charges at the dome, he rotates his torso slightly and leans forward, trying to slam into the dome with his shoulder.
Body slam! He's got his falchion drawn, but he's not using it to break through the dome - just having it ready for whatever may be on the other side.
Dragorin
|
This should be entertaining.
Atum Nakhti
|
Atum follows suit and runs through the dome after Desmond.
Basalte

Basalte imitates Atum, obediantly following into the dome.

| GM Bold Strider |
Ok! Let's see how this plays out.
You see the three biggest guys in your party rush headlong into the quicksilver dome, weapons drawn.
As each of them connects with the dome, they seem to meld through the quicksilver to the inside.
Damage-Desmond: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 1, 2) = 12 DC 20 Fortitude Save to halve.
Damage-Atum: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 2, 3) = 18 Not affected by DR. DC 20 Fortitude Save to halve.
Damage-Basalte: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 5, 5) = 21 Not affected by DR. DC 20 Fortitude Save to halve.
The interior of the bubble is a hollow dome, magically illuminated by an unknown source. The interior surface of this silver liquid is completely covered with various images depicting scenes of forests, plains, seas, and cities. All are extremely realistic and filled with moving creatures, flora, and weather. Standing at the center of this hemispherical diorama, like a lone sentinel, is a tall pillar of rock. A single eye stares out from the center of this column, just above a fang-filled mouth, and shifts from scene to scene as it takes in all the images being portrayed on the interior of the silver dome. A perfectly preserved woman’s corpse lies on the side of the one-eyed pillar, partially absorbed into its stony hide.
As you breach, three tentacles whip out attach to your exposed skin.
Strand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 DC 25 Fortitude or take 1d6 Strength damage
Strand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 DC 25 Fortitude or take 1d6 Strength damage
Strand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 DC 25 Fortitude or take 1d6 Strength damage
"Why have you breached my sanctum?" states a cold, rocky voice that floods your minds.
You can see through the quicksilver slightly to see your compatriots watching your entrance.
Please respond in spoilers.

Following the same pattern, I assume the middle strand was against Atum, although it got a nat 1 so it misses. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Atum yells back at the creature, "We're here for the body! Let us go!"
Unless the thing backs down and surrenders, Atum grows in size and swings his polearm at it!

Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Not sure what kind of knowledge check it should be. If it should be a Nature check, add 1 to the above roll. If it needs to be another check, then I'm out of luck. But Dungeoneering seems most likely.
Atum Nakhti
|
Just a note: I don't think you need to defensively cast for swift-action spells. Might make a difference on Desmond's attacks.
Also, if it's not backing down, Atum continues with his action above.
Desmond Aesculus
|
I know the CRB says 'free action' spells do not need a defensive casting. But I wasn't sure if that would still apply to swift action spells.
| GM Bold Strider |
Can you have a target be a favored enemy if you don't know what the enemy is? (Especially important for me to know as I just started a ranger.)
Swift action spells don't provoke, thus no need to cast defensively. I guess you could theoretically cast defensively swift action spells, but there is no reason to, that I can think of.
Desmond Aesculus
|
Of course, I was trying to cast 'instant enemy' which just allows me to treat the target of the spell as one of my favored enemies (I was hoping it would land and so I could treat it as a human: +6 on all rolls!).

Terrill Mayern

Terrill shrugs his shoulders and says, ”No reason for them to die alone in there.” He calls on Desna to support him and charges through the quicksilver barrier, already whirling his blade. Once he’s through, he swings his sword at whatever is attacking the gang.
Activate boots of speed for +30 move, total speed is 70’. Activate judgments of Protection (+3 to AC, +6 vs crits) and Purity (+3 to saves, +6 vs curses, disease and poison). Step through barrier and try to identify whatever is there.

He sees a huge eye opening in this conical creature's front, just above a toothy mouth. Long strands of fibrous material whip from its sides. He is completely lost as to what the creature is.
