Maria loses her grip on the mite, but it does not matter. Faust's blade cuts a long gash on the side of the the creature's neck through which blood rapidly spurts.
End of Combat
Mite is dying.
Takumi: That is my understanding.
Small short bow
17 x small arrows
Small dagger
2 x potion of cure light wounds
2 x tanglefoot bags

Shalendra Yllaban
|
Yep the Evil Eye lasts one round if the target saves. Otherwise it's 7 rounds on this character.
"That was fun. At least it didn't try to bite me. Should we keep looking or go back to the cobra?"
Takumi Kamizo
|
"My humble suggestion would be to continue our exploration of this mansion. The iron cobra would no doubt still be there when we are ready to return."
Faust Alhazred
|
"Indeed, to the next room then," Faust comments while wiping his scimitar clean on the bed. Once everyone is ready, he and Dumont step up to the next door.
Maria Kuerlara
|
Maria searches the hacked up body and looks a couple items over, "anyone want these potions?" She glances at Shalendra's wound and adds, "go ahead and use my wand please, I'd feel better paying back the earlier debt."
She looks at the group, holding up the potions, "if not I'll hold onto them. There is gold there too we should collect... to uhm... fund the 'war' effort or whatever we are calling it nowadays. Anyone keeping track of that kind of stuff?"
She slips the tanglefoot bags into her pack and mutters, "these are good against flyers, don't know if we'll face any but better to have them."
Once that fun book-keeping stuff is done she steps up behind Dumont as usual and waits for the next door to be opened.
| GM Blake |
Dumont stands in front of the door. He tries to pull it open, but it is locked.
Maria Kuerlara
|
Maria looks around at everyone and asks, "can anyone pick a lock? I know that's a skill I need to work on. Maybe next time I'm home I can apprentice to a locksmith. Yeah, that sounds like a decent little vacation from all this slaughtering mites and centipedes stuff."
Takumi Kamizo
|
"I seek your forgiveness as that is not a skill I possess, nor do I possess the power yet to do so via magic." Turning carefully to Faust, he adds cautiously, "Would your... brother be able to knock it down?"
Faust Alhazred
|
"A mere wooden door is but a momentary obstacle for us! Come Dumont, let us break it down together," Faust boasts, as he solidly kicks the door near the handle while Dumont pushes against the middle. They have begun to warm to Dumont! Fantastic!

IIRC, we ran into this problem earlier too.

The sturdy door resists Faust and his skeletal kin's attempt to break it open with one swift strike. They are forced to use the painfully noisy and slow method of chopping and smashing the door to manageable pieces.
The furniture in this irregularly shaped room are cluttered with scientific equipment, and the glassy eyes of taxidermy animal heads stare down from the walls. At the north end of the room, the stuffed body of a large, winged beast is mounted on a low platform.

I would've helped, if it matters.

Maria slips into the room after Dumont wanders in. She keeps a wary eye on the stuffed beast as she starts looking over the scientific equipment for anything to indicate the room is currently being used or if anything still has value.
| GM Blake |
Dumont steps onto a tile that slides down into the floor, revealing several spikes. He fails to notice; however, you can now easily move around the spiked floor.
Maria finds that though the equipment and supplies are dusty and long unused, it is serviceable and could function as a fully stocked alchemist's laboratory.
Should she get closer to the tables...
A masterwork monocle (detect magic + Spellcraft DC 18)

Takumi Kamizo
|
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Takumi examines the areas in case of other traps, especially around the table of vials. (Assuming none found) He then approaches the table and examines the items.
"These vials of potions would come in useful. I would defer them to the rest of you though. The melee fighters would find the potions useful, and in case we encounter swarms, those without might find stocking up on the alchemist's fire useful. Let me examine this monocle."
detect magic + spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Faust Alhazred

Leaving the others to the tables, Faust and Dumont circle around and look deeper into the room. That's a little gaudy. Trap could have been more... deterring... Putting it in front of the door would have been better for starters. Maybe a spike trap with something pouring out of the ceiling? Now THAT would be nasty...

Dumont continues around the tables and toward the stuffed monster and the cabinet in the back of the room. He steps on another tile that sinks into the ground. As though reading Faust's mind, the room releases a more elaborate trap as a heavy blade drops out of the column and swings around. It just narrowly misses Dumont's skeletal neck and causes a breeze that ruffles Faust's hair and that of everyone currently inspecting the table, stopping with a clang on the opposite side of the column from where it began.
Nothing else tries to kill you as you approach the taxidermic oddity. Faust thinks that he should know what it is, but Maria is able to explain why the name is escaping him.

Maria hands out 1 CLW potion to each other member of the party, ignoring the spirit and the skeleton out of concern those potions might be harmful to that type of creature.
She will grab two of the alchemist's fires and stuff them in her backpack, leaving the rest of the potions and items for someone who can make more use of them.
Seeing the second trap trigger she smiles, "wow, Dumont is indeed quite useful."
Carefully avoiding stepping on the same tile in case the blade reset to swing back, she steps up to inspect the monster. "Ooooh, a frankenmonster. I mean, they were aiming for a chimera but it's just a goat head, lion head and lizard head stitched together instead of an actual chimera. I'd say either the Sarini's were idiots from inbreeding or just really inexperienced in authenticating purchases."
She looks at the cupboard, checks it for traps and then requests Dumont attempt to open it.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
| GM Blake |
Dumont opens the cupboard door. Nothing tries to kill him--at least nothing that an undead servant made of bone would notice--in the process. Within, Maria can see a rolled parchment, a suit of chainmail on a dressing mannequin and a finely crafted cold iron longsword.
The rolled parchment is a map of the manor and surrounding grounds. There is a musical note inked over the ball room (the room with the grand stairs and angel statue). There is also a notation for a concealed door in the southwest corner of the cellar. Fog of war removed from the map as well as adding the cellar to map.
Maria Kuerlara

Maria shows the map and items to the group, ”any of that stuff magical or useful?”
Takumi Kamizo
|
GM, what about the masterwork monocle? Takumi got a spellcraft check of 25.
Takumi comes up beside Maria. He waves his hands and mutters a few arcane words under his breadth to see magical aura.

Apologies. I was so excited to try to chop Dumont's head off that I forgot. I'll post it tomorrow, but it's a unique item that basically lets you read magic at will. No new auras after Maria opens the cabinet.

"Guess again," Mutters Lydia, gingerly handing the potion off to her shadow.
Faust Alhazred
|
"He is, isn't he?" Faust practically beams as Dumont fumbles through the room's defenses. "Just think that could have been any of us instead!"
"HA! Indeed. Thank you Maria for your hospitality, but it simply isn't my brand to appreciate. Keep it for your own wounds, my flesh doesn't stitch up the same way yours does..."

Abyssia notes no inconsistencies with what you have experienced of the manor so far with the exception of the strangely placed musical note in the area depicting the ballroom. Exhausting the interesting findings in the laboratory, you move on to the nearest unexplored room.
The door opens easily when Dumon tries the handle. The large windows of this bedroom offer a magnificent view of the hills to the northeast. As you warily search the guest bedroom for malicious mites or overgrown vermin, you notice a glint on the roof of the gazebo. Squinting, you can make out a key lodged between two broken shingles.
Shalendra and Lydia point out scratches at the base of the bed's foot board: help me.
Shalendra Yllaban
|
"I wonder what that is from?" She'll cast detect magic on the bed just in case, and then see if Dumont would be so kind as to push the bed out of the way to look for secret doors and such.
Faust Alhazred
|
Faust gestures towards the bed at Shalendra's request and Dumont attempts tp move the bed out of the way. "Likely a moot point considering what we've done to the doors, but that key may be worth acquiring."
Takumi Kamizo
|
Takumi gulps silently, feeling his heart pound harder when Shalendra and Lydia points out the eeries words scratched on the bed. Nonetheless, he maintains as calm a disposition as possible and carefully searches the room, especially for the source of the words.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Eventually, he notices the key lodged on the roof of the gazebo.
Can Takumi's mage hand reach the key? His range is 30ft and from the window, that would reach part of the gazebo. If so...
He gestures towards the key, concentrating on it as he pulls it in towards him.
| GM Blake |
Dumont rearranges the furniture, although doing so fails to reveal anything except for dust and pill bugs--of the normal variety. Takumi invokes a single magic trick and draws the key from the gazebo roof through one of the broken window panes. The key matches the style of the locks in the manor.
You make your way back around the balcony to the next room in the counter-clockwise direction. Dumont opens the door without resistance. This dormitory-style bedroom looks tidier than other rooms in the building. A hunched figure wearing a maid’s uniform is sitting on a small bed in the northwest corner of the room.
"My scissors are dull," the figure says, snipping at the air with a pair of shears. "Do you have anything sharper?"
Faust Alhazred
|
"A twisted wretch if I ever saw one. She clearly isn't right in the head..." Faust mutters to himself. "What on Golarion are you doing here? I've got plenty sharper right here," he boasts, hefting his scimitar before him.

Takumi: Do you want to know Ecology or one of the usual statistics questions?
"Ew! No!" she scolds Shaldendra. "I said I don't like weapons."
Turning her attention back toward Faust, she pauses in her mock scissoring of invisible thread and says, "I am Anilda. I don't know you. Who are you? Why are you here?"
Faust Alhazred

"I'm Faust and I don't answer to things like you," he sneers. "I asked first, and you shall answer first. Speak," Faust demands, his eyes narrowing, patience wearing thin.
