I have been speaking with Ameiko at length about the towns history, walking the town and watching the people, and trying to understand my role in future events.

Sacerdos departs the boneyard with his new comrades, the Robe of Bones secured safely in his satchel, his hand resting on the hilt of his bastard sword hilt where his holy symbol is engraved. As they arrive back at the Rusty Dragon, the cleric deviates from the group and heads for the stairs.

When they look questioningly in his direction, a smile forms on Sacerdos’ face that doesn’t touch his eyes. ”Go ahead, my friends. I wish to retire to my quarters and commune a while with my Lord Ragathiel.” The cleric looks to the stairs and begins climbing. ”I’ll join you soon.”

Once in his room, the cleric lights the lanterns in his room and sets about preparing a space on the ground for his daily prayers. Before him he lays his trusty sword and alongside that, the Robe of Bones he and his companions had discovered. Withdrawing his holy symbol from about his neck and closing his eyes, Sacerdos prays to Empyreal Lord Ragathiel for clarity and fortitude.

After an hour of prayer, he takes a flask of water from within the pockets of his satchel and casts Bless upon it. Then proceeds with a ritual to hopefully cleanse the taint upon the Robe of Bones, sprinkling it with the now Holy Water and asking that Ragathiel protect his hands as he and the team seek to know the vile garment’s origins...and hopefully its former owner.

That accomplished, Sacerdos gathers his things, refolding the robe of bones into his satchel and douses the lanterns in the room. He heads down stairs and rejoins his friends.

Downstairs, he sees them gathered at the table but troubling to see was the absence of Lorillon. Sacerdos finds a seat at the table and orders up some food and cider. All around him, the denizens of Sandpoint are working out the day’s events and leveraging food and drink to climb their way back to normalcy.

As Sacerdos observes the comings and goings, he casts a divine net among the people, seeking perhaps one or more among them that may have connection to the evil worming its way through the town. Those involved had to know something of interest existed in that tomb...perhaps someone here may be in alignment with our enemies.

Sacerdos leans back in his seat, sipping at his cider and casts Detect Evil and allows the spell to drift throughout the room.

Detect Evil:
You can sense the presence of evil. The amount of information revealed depends on how long you study a particular area or subject. Range 60 ft

1st Round: Presence or absence of evil.

2nd Round: Number of evil auras (creatures, objects, or spells) in the area and the power of the most potent evil aura present.
If you are of good alignment, and the strongest evil aura's power is overwhelming (see below), and the HD or level of the aura's source is at least twice your character level, you are stunned for 1 round and the spell ends.

3rd Round: The power and location of each aura. If an aura is outside your line of sight, then you discern its direction but not its exact location.

**Aura Power**
An evil aura's power depends on the type of evil creature or object that you're detecting and its HD, caster level, or (in the case of a cleric) class level; see the table below. If an aura falls into more than one strength category, the spell indicates the stronger of the two.


The man at the table immediately turns bright red in the face as Katrin hands him the satchel, still embarrassed by his performance earlier in the day he looks at the ground and hands the satchel back to her..

"'aye Lass, you bested me..and taught me a lesson today..'tis only fair that you keep it.."

he then quickly gets up and leaves the Inn.

As the rest of the group Sits at the table enjoying themselves, Ameiko comes over and serves some drinks and platters of food, she then sets a sizable leather pouch down in the middle of the table along with a scroll.

"Mr. Foxglove sends his apologies, he was unfortunately not able to make a meeting with you tonight, however he asks that I give you this and let you know that he would like to meet with you sometime tomorrow."

Sacerdos:
You do not detect any Evil presence within range.

She watches the man leave and sighs. She then opens the satchel and transfers the funds into her money purse. Once she gets this done she listens to Ameiko and says, "Thanks Ameiko." and then takes the pouch, opens it and then proceeds to count the money inside and divide it as evenly as possible among the party members.

She gathers the gold and puts it back into the pouch and hands it to him.

To the Group of Adventurer's that Saved me,

Please accept this small gesture as my further gratitude for the heroic effort you put forth today in saving the town, and myself from what would have otherwise been certain doom.

I am sorry I could not meet with you tonight in person,I find myself mentally and physically exhausted and require a good nights rest and some hours of meditation as I have some business to attend to early tomorrow, but please be assured that I will find you in the next few days before I return to my home in Magnimar.

Incidentally, I have been planning to go on a Boar hunt before I return home, and would like to formally invite all of you to Join me at no cost to you, Horses and equipment shall be provided for you at no cost and all you need to do is arrive.

I look forward to getting to know all of you a bit better and will contact you soon with the details.

Sacerdos rolls up the scroll and places it next to the pouch of gold. "First, let's look in on the local talismonger or even the temple, see if we can't acquire that wand. If I slip from the horse and crack my fool head, then you'll need an alternative to Lord Ragathiel's healing." He cracks a smile that slowly fades as he looks back to he scroll.

"As for this boar hunt...I'm not much good at the sport, but perhaps we can leverage the time afield to continue our investigations."


The boar hunt will commence next week, this week the Team spends the week doing odd jobs around town, helping out the Sheriff and buying whatever supplies they need while gathering information and preparing themselves for later adventures, feel free to continue to RP if you want..sorry i dont have enough time to get a lot of detain in this week..I will be Better next week..=}

Anders spends the week speaking to the people of the town, trying to get a sense of who does what. he also looks out for a wand of cure light wounds that can be purchased with group booty.

She asks around town for information in hopes of finding any information on the human that might be working with the goblin as well as leads of where the goblins come from. Beyond that she goes earn some coin through using her Profession: Solider skill to work with the watch and assist them in fighting crime and keeping the peace in the town.

I walk around town, and listen for rumors and information about the goblin attacks. I do search for more information regarding the church burning 5 years earlier and the family involved.


Everyone please make your way back to the Rusty Dragon, We will be starting fresh from there, You can discuss what you have seen or learned with each other, I will go back through and keep reading to see if there was any questions that I need to answer, but wanted us to get moving again.

After what seems like a long time of wandering the city, the group meets back at the Rusty dragon to discuss what they have learned.

Anders was Successful at finding a wand merchant who had a wand of cure light wounds, and after a very pleasant conversation and a fair amount of haggling he is able to obtain for the group a wand with 50 charges for the very low price of 187GP..75% off the normal retail value..the Merchant will be staying at the rusty dragon as well, and the wand will be available for purchase should the group decide to buy it.

Bedlam after much wandering and searching has gained a pretty good knowledge of the local area and the town, as such he gains a +2 bonus to all knowledge Local/geography checks while in town.

Sacerdos learns after having the robe of bones checked out that it is a very crudely made robe that still has very faint necromantic power, although all of the robes patches have been used up. There were no identifiable markings to suggest who the robe may have belonged to or who made it, the talismonger suggested that anyone with a basic understanding of necromancy, could have made the robe, but does not have any ideas of who in town that could be.

Katrin goes about town doing odds and ends for the local law enforcement including helping to rid a house of a wayward goblin that had terrorized a small boy, killed the family dof and done some nasty damage to the father while he was trying to pull the blasted thing out from under the floorboards, for her efforts she earned 250GP.

Carrion hears rumors of a local shop owners daughter shacking up with a local saw mill worker, quite a scandel in some peoples view, he also hears that strange things have been going on lately around the area of the glass works, and that a strange Elven ranger has been spotted outside of town.

Spears and Lorilon are at the rusty dragon when the group arrives back, both looking very forlorn, and not in the best of spirits.

After a busy week, talking to many people, Anders is looking forward to a chat with the rest of the company. He orders a drink and sits at his customary place, offering a brief prayer to Alseta, and looks around. Only Lorilon and Spears are in evidence, but they look so glum he has to speak.

Bedlam enters the Rusty Dragon, views his companions and decides on joining them.

Well, me been all over this area and
i don't see nothing absolutely wrong with the layout.

He nods to a serving girl for some ale.

I believe that we be needing more leads.

Katrin walks into the location dressed in a new breastplate armour and wearing a tabard of the Sandpoint watch. She says to the group, "I spent the week working with the watch. Looks like there was a goblin straggler hiding in one of the homes in town. I make swift work of it before it got a chance to take a bite out of the man of the house. Beyond that I whipped the watch into shape and gave them some instructions on how to properly wield a weapon. The men of this town wouldn't last a day in the northlands with their lackluster training. Beyond that I found no further information on the man the goblins mentioned was behind the raid. Looks like we are at a dead end at the moment."

Bought a breastplate armor with some of my gold and traded out my old scale mail for 1/2 it's value.

Sacerdos arrives back at the tavern, a frown on his face. Half a dozen people later and he'd not uncovered anything of real value on the robe of bones. He looks ready to head upstairs to his room when he spots the gathering group in the common room. The cleric diverts and joins them.

"Unfortunately, that much is true, brave Katrin." Sacerdos takes a seat next to the Ulfen warrior, dropping his bag next to his chair. "I've found little in the way of information centered on the accursed robe of bones. Anyone with knowledge of necromancy could have fashioned it, for it is not of the best quality." his eyes drift to the bag next to him. "If no one objects, I'd like to burn it in a purging fire. Be rid of the evil thing."

Anyone hear about the glass works? Some strange activities have been occurring there. I will find more information on the glass works.

An elven ranger is running around the outskirts of town, and that may be providence. We shall see. Perhaps we can find this ranger during the boar hunt, or we could have a look.

Katrin nods to Anders and says, "Yea the Glassworks is a pretty prosperous business here in Sandpoint. It might be prudent to take a look to see if there is anything amiss going on there."

Glad to see someone had actually uncovered something of use, Sacerdos rests his hands on the table and says, "A good next step visiting the glassworks." The cleric shoulders his pack, already contemplating the sermon he'd write as part of the ceremony to burn the robe of bones and destroy it properly.

"As for this elven ranger," he looks to Katrin. "If he proves to be ally, perhaps he may have some insights into dangers lurking in the woods around Sandpoint."

I am the only one to state what I did or learned while waiting for Foxglove? At least I am progressing the plot.

If it is a consensus, which it appears to be, I suppose it is the next logical place in our grand adventure. Let us see what fate is to bring.

(sorry its taken me so long to reply, I had to download all the books and stuff again, and have been working a ton as well, I need to read the AP again tonight to get caught up and will post a more lengthy reply tomorrow I cant remember if we are ready to go to the glassworks or not yet)

Hello,

This will be my first attempt at GMing a PBP campaign, I am fairly new to Pathfinder, but I loved the "other game" back in the 80's and 90's. I've been playing with my kids at home now for a couple months and want to hone my GM skills, so I thought I would try and do this. Id love to have several new players, but will take whatever I can get, I am very active and I am on and will post several times a day, so Id like players that can also be active, and will stay for the long haul..maybe even past ROTRL and into further adventures. I'm not exactly sure how this all works, but if I have enough interest i want to start playing by Sunday night or Monday.

As for character creation rules, they are simple:

* Pick a name. First names only are OK at this point.
* Create stats as per the 25 point buy system
* All Paizo Core races.
* All classes.
* Starting gold: 150gp
* Pick 2 traits

This poor little guy has been trying for a very long time to get into a RotRL game that last more than a few weeks/month or two.

He's seen many incarnations, but he's a favorite of mine, and refuse to port the concept to another game.

You using aniversery addition traits?


I have a Paladin called Anders Trelassion, will need to be tweaked (was created at 3rd level, plus I want to rearrange the stats). The aim is to go 2 levels of Paladin then switch to Sorceror then go EK.


I would like to apply with this guy. I need to adjust abilities because he's based on 20 point buy. Need to verify his gold was right too. Outside of that, he should be pretty well set.

Just to make sure you understand he's a spear and shield fighter, Phalanx Soldier archetype, will allow him to one hand polearms/spears when using a shield at 3, so that's his plan.


Havocprince, you can use whatever traits you would like, I just got my hands on the anniversary addition of RotRL so I will be using that for this AP. I will try and get the anniversary players guide as well and have a quick look through of it.


Both Player's Guides are useful and available for a free download here on Paizo.com. The older guide is useful for backstory and such, the newer for updated info on the PF versions of the classes (since the original was 3.5)

Just a note, I've GM'd the first few encounters, but would love to play the AP through as a player before I GM it anymore.


I've just been building a Kaer Magan Golembuilder...
I had a couple of builds in mind, and I think one might fit.
I know you already have a lot of arcane guys, and a wizard, already though - so I figure I'd need to fit the niche they don't seem to - blasting.

I'd like to play Runelords - I've had the Anniversary AP (and carefully not read it) ever since it came out.


If there are just too many wizards, then I have got a cleric concept (Magdh), but it is a little wierd.


I think we could use some more meat shields honestly, we do seem to be very arcane heavy, with not allot of upfront muscle, the paladins may fill that roll or a healer roll, we have one rogue type, but probably could use one that has some disarm traps and disable device skills, I'm surprised at the turnout I was going to go with 6 players, but i might go with 7 if I can get a couple more non arcane caster types that want to play.


Are you looking for tanks or strikers?


Well consider Spears a tankish person. And at level 3, he'll have reach to help slow monsters toward the casters.

Also, if you aren't requiring a campaign trait, I might switch my Friends and Family one out.

Red is a tattooed Shoanti tribesman, whose fiery hair and pale skin suggest some Ulfen ancestry. Both muscular and handsome, he wears light armor and wields a spear. Small scars, both from weapons and flames, accentuate his features.

Background:
Red grew up originally in a remote Shoanti village, where he was expected to grow up to be a hunter due to his physical prowess and knack for magic. However he was reckless and a bit dimwitted, never quite learning how to effectively track prey. When a single wolf wandered into the village, the other villagers found him babbling incoherently and on the verge of accidentally burning their homes to the ground in the process of trying to stop it. After that incident, he was pressured to leave the village, and find a place where he could put his talents to better use.

Personality:
Red is careless, both in behavior and grooming, and is prone to ignore advice, even when his curse doesn't prevent him from understanding it. He is, however, fiercely loyal, and will defend his friends to the end. It is this loyalty that drives him to work for the Korvosa guard, in order to protect the city that gave him a new home.

Background:
Anders was born the third son of a Chelaxian Landowner in Varisia. From a very young age, Anders was enthralled by the tales of heroes and sorcerors that are a common part of Chelaxian culture. He doesn't remmeber when it happened but at some point he decided to dedicate his life to being the perfect Hero, and threw himself into the arms tuition that his father had ordered for him.

Noticing his budding enthusiasm for heroism, his father decided to apprentice him to the Nightguard (The body responsible for overnight guardianship of the pediment building in Magnimar), hoping to cure him of his idealism by exposing him to the harshness of hardened criminals. the plan has backfired, as Anders has adopted Alseta as his patron Goddess and vowed to follow the example of his fellow Nightguards all his life. he has devoted himself to learning the Martial arts, to studying the Goddes of Doorways, Praying and dedicating himself to the life of a Paladin.

In addition, while in magnimar a tour of the Irespan picqued his interest: He has studied as many Thassilonian artifacts and ruins as he could and is determined to study more. So it was that at the age of 17, having completed his apprenticeship and finding that there were no vacancies in the Nightguard due to cutbacks, he has decided to temporarily pursue his interest in Thassilonian ruins. he has taken ship to sandpoint, where there is less competition to study ancient monuments in the region.

Hope this is acceptable. I have changed his background to accomaodate this campaign and given him a hook into sandpoint. let me know if you got any problems with it.

Looking at the list of characters, we're lacking healing support in our group. The Oracle can do some healing but as only the Life Oracle has access to channeling, the fire Oracle is fairly limited. I might be willing to create a cleric if the party requires one.

Advanced Player Guide, campaign traits. I assumed these were the campaign traits for this campaign. If they are not, I will pick something else and rewrite the background to account for it.

Its full title is Outlander, with Lore Seeker being a sub set of that.


If push comes to shove, my Paladin can use a wand of cure light wounds, though as a frontline character (at least for the first 2 levels), he may not have time to cast in combat.

He also has the sacred touch trait, enabling him to stabilize with a touch. Again, don't know if he'll be bale to use it in combat, but it's there.

I am interested in RotRL, and would fit your support need nicely. I'm at work and can't update my character for a few hours, and will obviously change his Avater since both he and Anders have the same one.

I post 3-10 times per day and am very active. I am new to the pathfinder forums, but have played many a PBP on Enworld before some bad experiences soured me to the site.

Silver Crusade

Well the thing about having a dedicated healer is you have someone with the means to deal with Player Crippling Conditions. A wand of healing does not cure diseases, ability drain, level drain, poison, paralysis and numerous other effects that can totally screw over a character. Just my 0.02 cents on the issue.


IIRC, the stabilize touch from that SLA doesn't provoke AOO, so you could do it in melee, but it's not hard to roll a successful stabilize roll either, YMMV.

If we are going to have 7 in the group, a dedicated healer wouldn't be a horrible idea, i had even though about making Spears a cleric and just work with the shortspear as his melee weapon, but i don't want to step into a role some other character might try for.


A healer would be a good idea, i was thinking the same thing..if someone wants to create one, I think we will be going with 7

I updated the avater so you can tell us apparet now. Zander is fairly support oriented, and can help in combat with his reach weapon. Never seen a Cleric of Shelyn running around, so I thought it would have some nice novelty.


If zander wanted to turn his cleric to a healing domain or something that would work as well, but ill let you guys decide on what you want to do, Ideally I'd like to see a healer, a rouge type, 2 melee fighters, 2 ranged/caster types, and a battle field manager type..but that is open to change on what we get here, I can work with it..=}

Shelyn doesn't get healing if I remember correctly, but the stat bump from 20-25 point buy will be going ito Charisma, to get me an extra channeling, so I'll still be able to heal well.
