Lorilon Minkmasher |

Lorilon stands up from his chair and wipes his foam-covered mouth, before grasping his beltbuckle with both hands.
"If Spears is going, I am going. This weary old guardsman might need a crutch at some point, and I'm thinking only Lorilon Minkmasher can provide the strength!"
His smile turns into a grin as Katrin leaves.
"Besides, the half-ogre lady can take care of herself!"

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam drains the last of his morning ale as the others decide on their courses of action.
Well, I be not waiting here by meself. I suppose if Katrin would like some dour company, I also wouldn't mind inspecting these wares around this town too
Bedlam leaves with Katrin.

Sacerdos Echthileon |

Sacerdos smiles at the dwarf. "Happy hunting then, Bedlam. Let's make sure we meet back here for lunch. See if this..." He grins at Spears and continues. "...Foxglove makes an appearance."
That left one more at the table. "Mr. Hawthorne, what say you? Taking in the local life with Katrin and Bedlam, or heading over to the Sheriff's office to inquire on our little green prisoner?"

![]() |

You guys are doing this activity when I'm sleeping. I'm here now.
I wish to see what fate the goblin holds.
I will accompany the group to the sheriff.

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam plans on visiting around town. He would like to get to know this town, since this is his first outside the mountains experience.
He will spend most of his time in armories, crafting halls, and taverns!
And since he is a Ranger, he will visit any 'nature' spots too.

GM BigBusMan |

"As the Companions walk through the streets of Sandpoint, making their way to the sheriffs office, several of the local towns people smile and wave and a few even run up and ask for autographs..at one point the local bread maker runs out of her shop and stuffs a huge loaf of bread into Carrions Arms..making a remark about how he looks underfed and the need to eat more..it seems everywhere you go someone notices you, the group has become quite the local hero's.."
"You finally arrive outside the sheriffs office, its mid morning and the sun is shining bright..people everywhere are cleaning up the mess from the previous days raid, as you approach the front door of the Office, the sheriff steps out and greats the group."
"Well if it isn't our little group of Hero's..I didn't get a chance to properly thank you yesterday, but rest assured Myself and the entire town of Sandpoint owes you a debt of gratitude for what you did"
The Sheriff proceeds to shake everyone's hand, in the distance you can here the Church bells chime..Signifying that someone is being buried, youve heard the bells chime several times this morning..The sheriff looks off into the distance, then looks back at the group..
" Without your help yesterday, I'm afraid we would have heard those bells chime a lot more than we have..anyway, what brings you lot down here this morning?..i figured you all would still be enjoying yourselves over there at the Rusty Dragon?"

Sacerdos Echthileon |

"The owner at the Rusty Dragon has done a great justice to the rumored hospitality of Sandpoint." The cleric pauses and looks about at the friendly faces traveling the streets. Then the tone of the bells and the Sheriff's words settles in the air. Sacerdos bows low and speaks solemnly. "Those citizens you lost in the attacks yesterday are at the center of my prayers."
His hands lock behind his back as Sacerdos continues. "The meaning behind our visit resides with the prisoner. My colleagues and I were curious as to what you've learned from the goblin over the past few hours. We're keen to find out from where this goblin threat sprung and too offer our services in putting an end to any future troubles."

GM BigBusMan |

Sheriff Hemlock scratches his head for a moment, then starts to talk:"
"Well, that blasted little creature put up one hell of a fight while we were trying to get some information from him, and a couple of his friends were also apprehended last night as well..we did just about every unimaginable thing we could think of to get the little bastards to talk, but in the end it came down to the fact that I don't think they knew much of anything..all we could get out of them is that they had orders to kill everyone in the town, and to burn the town down..one of them knew that part of their group was on a secret mission..but he didn't know what it was and none of them could tell me their leaders name..only that he was a "Longshanks" like us.."
As Sheriff Hemlock finished, Father Tobin appears and whispers something in his ears..Hemlock turns back to the Group and says:
" I'm sorry to have to cut this meeting short, but The good father needs my attention for awhile, if you could excuse us for a bit, I would like to discuss some things with you if you don't mind, so if you could meet me back at the Rusty Dragon, lets say an hour from now..I may very well have a job for you to do.."
With that the sheriff turns and walks away with Father Tobin..

Sacerdos Echthileon |

Sacerdos bows his respect. "We are at your service, Sheriff. We will see you in one hour at the Dragon." As the two depart, the cleric studies them, watching their postures and their gate. He wonders if there is more danger afoot. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

![]() |

"it is somewhat troublesome. If a human or humanoid is behind these attacks, that suggests they are an enemy of this town, but this town has no enemies that I can think of. Who would want Sandpoint to be burned to the ground?"

Sacerdos Echthileon |

"Very true, Anders. Most troubling to contemplate." He watches the priest and sheriff depart, blue eyes narrowing with consideration. "Something has them shaken, my friends. If e are to be effective in protecting this town, then let us hope they disclose all that they know."
He looks to the others; Anders, Spears & Lorilon. "Perhaps we should find the others, ensure they're at the Rusty Dragon inside the hour."

![]() |

A human leading goblins in an attack on the day a new temple is dedicated and the town is gathered. It seems very premeditated, and there must be some way they are watching this town, or even someone inside. Longshanks, plural, so a group of them. Anyone is suspect, and I would seek the path to truth. If it is to be, we shall be shown the way. I hope nothing too aggregious way done to the captives.
Thank you for your time sheriff. We shall be with Ameiko and the Rusty Dragon.

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam has been visiting the armory and then a 'nature' shop.
He walks about town, smiling and shaking the hands offered and eating the food given!
You be fine folk and welcomed to a traveling Dwarf!

![]() |

"Not necessarily, friend Carrion. Shanks are part of your legs, and one person would have two legs - hence the plural. Longshanks simply means 'Tall-Legged' which to a goblin is a description of most humanoids. In fact any that are larger than them, that they would not otherwise recognise."

![]() |

That may well be Anders. I would think human as I am one. One or more beings willing to deal with goblins and perpetrate these acts upon us and innocents. They must be dealt with, but such things are often complicated, such is the way of things.
I will find where the local goblin tribes normally stay, and see if I can't unroot where they came from and when they would have mobilized. Anyone have any leads or know of one who could aid in this?
Knowledge local for anyone or resources that would yield results, a higher chance at least. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 I'm thinking to myself as well.

Pierce "Spears" Friggens |

"I'd say Bedlam is probably eating his way around town and Katrin is probably taking some oaf's money in a display of strength, or visiting a weapon shop, if I remember correctly? Shall we split up to find them? Anders, you and Carrion might check the merchant area for signs of them, Lorilon and I will head to the nature area, I think I remember Bedlam talking about that. Sacerdos, would you mind heading to the Tavern to make sure to tell them if they happen to get there first? I apologize if I seem forward, I am used to leading a squad of men...." Spears voice trails off as he shrugs and looks around at everyone.

Lorilon Minkmasher |

"Maybe they got into a brawl, those lucky.. Ehrhem! Good plan old man, lets get a move on boys!" Lorilon marches off in a random direction, trying to take point but is obviously not sure as to what he is doing.

![]() |

I was thinking of finding where these goblin settlements are located by speaking with Ameiko and experts in town. Some are around the merchant area so I can assist both goals.
The naturist area is over there, not terribly far. Pointing in a NW direction

Sacerdos Echthileon |

"A good plan. I'll go to the tavern and see if we can secure a private room for our chat with the Sheriff."
Sacerdos nods respectfully to all and heads off. He contemplates the potential of a traitor in the midst of the townsfolk. What would motivate someone to do such a thing? To kill all residents...to raze the town... Could it be those behind this are after the land? Is there something of deeper importance - either literally or figuratively?
What ever the case, the cleric thanks Lord Ragathiel for bringing him to Sandpoint at such a time. He further prays that his sovereign Lord will be able to use Sacerdos to aid the people against this evil.
Once he arrives at the Rusty Dragon, Sacerdos moves thru the throngs to find Ameiko. "Begging your pardon, Mistress, but might I inquire as to the availability of a private dining room? My friends and I will be taking a meeting with the Sheriff inside the hour."

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam has found the Sandpoint market. He is casually walking around, inspecting mostly camping wares.
He is seen to be talking to an venerable human woman just North of the Market proper, outside an ancient, decrepit manor house.
He looks as if he is thoroughly enjoying the conversation!

GM BigBusMan |

Bedlam and Katrin, Because of your new found status in Sandpoint you are offered a 20% discount at all local merchants..let me know if you want me to RP any of your side adventures here, or if you are just out wandering and such..when the other players find you, we will continue on the main path, but there will be more opportunity soon for town exploration and interacting with locals..=}

![]() |

Katrin spends some time getting praises from the theater staff and an invitation for a free ticket for "The Harpy's Curse" for being a hero of Sandpoint. Afterwards she heads to the armory and checks out a nice breastplate and some of the masterwork weapons but eventually retires lacking the large amount of money they will cost (ooc: 51 gold is not enough to buy a Breastplate or get masterwork gear, even with 20% discounts). She eventually heads back to the inn to meet up with the others.

Pierce "Spears" Friggens |

Spears and Lorilon finally find their companion wandering the Market. They explain the sheriff would like to meet them at the tavern within the hour. After explaining the information they know, Spears heads back to the Rusty Dragon.

Lorilon Minkmasher |

"Hey. Hey Spears. Do you think we should surprise the Sheriff with a brawl at the Dragon? I'm sure he'll appreciate it. I mean, get his mind off the whole tragedy, you know? Or, HEY! How about I smash a chair over his head as he enters the tavern? That would be hilarious! I bet he'll forget the whole thing! Hahaha!" Lorilon strides off ahead of Spears, his eyes almost closed as he marches on towards the tavern, clenching his fists and swinging his arms almost comically - his broad smile apparent for all to see.

Pierce "Spears" Friggens |

Spears stops and laughs at the young gnome's desire to have a brawl...then realizes he's probably serious. As Lorilon strides off Spears thinks how that might play out in Sandpoint, if the heroes decide to instigate a brawl.
Realizing that Lorilon's idea may ruin the incredible position the group is in, Spears takes off running to try to intercept the gnome warrior before they end up with a huge repair bill and have to find another place to live.

Lorilon Minkmasher |

Once Spears catches up to him, Lorilon notices the stern look on the man's face. He lowers his arms and stares at Spears all puppy-eyed. "No brawling? Oh, ok. Well that's fine too! I'm sure we'll find us a good old fashioned brawl, someday - huh? Don't you think?" his broad smile returns, and he strides onward at Spears' side.

Pierce "Spears" Friggens |

"Lorilon, my friend, something tells me we are in for a good brawl with someone soon. In fact, if the sheriff doesn't have something for us to do, we'll go find some goblins, I heard some of them like to hang out at the town dump, perhaps we'll go kick some butt there, eh?"
Spears lets out a satisfied breath having averted another potential disaster.

GM BigBusMan |

"There you go, you should be all set, If you need anything further please let me know"
Ameiko then exits the room and goes back to her chores.

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam ends his conversation with the elder lady and he follows the others back to the tavern.
Aye, I be agreeing with Spears--no brawling in this town! We be having a good opportunity here, I be thinking
He pats Lorilon on his shoulder.
But he be correct in that we be getting one soon I think!

Sacerdos Echthileon |

Sacerdos nods his thanks, standing as Ameiko sees to the food. "My gratitude, Mistress. If you would be so kind as to direct my comrades here when they arrive."
The cleric seats himself and takes a morsel of fish, glad for the offering of such fine fair. It'd been a long time since last he'd eaten the like. With a contented smile he awaits his new comrades and the sheriff.

![]() |

Katrin goes back to the bar and meets with the others. "Hello my friends. Had a good trip down to the Opera House today. So happens they're offering the heroes of Sandpoint free tickets to the Harpy's Curse play. Should be pretty interesting to go and see. As for the armory, a good selection but far beyond my price range until I've got some more coin. Speaking of which, how was your meeting with the Sheriff?"

Sacerdos Echthileon |

"Abrupt" Sacerdos responds with a shrug. "The Sheriff was able to get some information from the goblin. Their group was instructed to kill all and burn Sandpoint to the ground.
The cleric pauses and hands Katrin a small plate of the raw fish. "The troubling bit to the tale revolves around who the bugger claims was his employer...a human."
He pauses to let the words sink in then continues. "Unfortunately, the Sheriff was called away before he could elaborate on next steps. He is to meet us here soon."

![]() |

With no leads to follow I move to the Rusty Dragon, discover that Sacerdos has arranged a room and enter. Ideally prior to bedlam and katrin arriving.
Opera, where the bellows of the earth meet the body and wonderful music is made. I may be interested in this Harpy's Curse.
It is indeed troubling to have such forces mobilized. Anyone taller than them, as Anders stated, would be considered a "longshanks". My first guess was human. I was bereft of ideas as to who to contact for information about the goblins so I came here.

![]() |

Katrin says, "A human huh? Well not a very smart one if he's bossing around goblins. They're all a bunch of weaklings. You saw how easily we beat down their so called invasion, definitely their plan is doomed to failure. Its high time we find this traitor and bring him in for the bounty on his head. Bet we'll get some good coin if we bring in the ringleader of this goblin operation."

Sacerdos Echthileon |

"Bedlam, I think you have the right of it. It is a larger picture beyond our eyes." Sacerdos sighs and turns a smear of spicy green paste under his eating stick. "As well to know the goblins are weaklings, but in a mass force...had we not been here...then they may have been enough for the job."
He twirled the eating stick in his fingers. "Just like for me, this implement is nearly useless for eating. But if you pair it..." He grabs the other one and uses it to grab a morsel of fish as Ameiko had taught him. "...it works just fine."
He places the fish on his plate. "The goblins were a tool, one probably sufficient with us out of the picture. But now this vile benefactor of goblins knows we're here. If he is a worthy adversary, he or she will send something worse next time."
"Whatever the Sheriff tells us, we should be prepared to investigate this town more closely. Find out who would stand to benefit from eliminating it and the people. Perhaps someone interested in its history...someone with a grudge...someone not so willing to let the events of five years ago rest."
The cleric fell to silence, open to the suggestions of the group.
