I would prefer (but not mandatory that your characters be in the form of aliases, formatted like this character:
but it isn't mandatory, as long as i have access to your characters important information stats, saves, exceptional bonuses, etc etc..its all good.
I like it if you have some fluff to go with the crunch as I enjoy reading it, but you don't have to be elaborate, maybe a brief history and why your character is in the Sandpoint area..but again it isn't mandatory.

My character. I need to adjust the stats, skills, and traits, but I'm posting my character. First, dibs.

![]() |

Updated. Minor equipment changes, but 95% done. I could move forth with this guy as he is. He's good. Let us do this thing.
I've been trying for RotRL game in reality and here for awhile now.

Khalbar Bloodsong |

Not sure if am supposed to check in here also? I am interested to play as the one game Khal played in died quite quickly.
In interest of full disclosure, I am DMing RotRL on the boards currently and also have a RL group in the midst of Chapter 3. I have never played more then the opening round as a player however. I'm certain I can keep OOC knowledge out of my guys actions (he's not that bright after all...).
LmK, if you need any changes etc.

GM BigBusMan |

cool, alright i will check out your guys in the morning, ill probably wait for two more to join, and then i will go over what i need you guys to do as far as profile and sheets and whatnot, I will also need to brush up on the sorcerer and conjurer as I have never played one or GM'd for a player that was one..(my kids all play fighters, rouges, and a wizard) but looking good so far! but just for reference i strongly prefer the alias(character sheets) to look like the example I posted above with your stats under your names for quick reference and for making things run quicker, but im not gonna be die hard about it..lol..I'm pretty laid back and easy going about most stuff, and its all about fun!!..anyway feel free to call me out if i accidentally make any mistakes for the magic users as well..=}

Khalbar Bloodsong |

You got it boss.

GM BigBusMan |

GM BigBusMan |

Ok, Looks like we have enough players now, so before we start ill go over a few things about how I would like us to play.
As GM i will be responsible for:
#1 Rolling initiative when combat begins, I will roll for everyone and monsters, so we don't get held up waiting for someone to make thier moves, how i will work combat is like this, after initiative is rolled i will group everyone into two groups, those that roll higher than the moster will be in group one, those that roll lower than the monster will be group two for example i will post:
Initiative:
player 1
player 2
player 3
Monster
player 4
player 5
Player 6
Players 1,2,3 can go in whatever order you post in, i will then make the monsters actions, then players 4,5,6 can go in whatever order they post (so if you have a move you want to make first, it pays to be active)
#2 Any Player that goes longer than 24 hours without making a move, I will bot that player for that round (lets try to not have that happen..lol)
#3 I will let players know when i need them to make any kind of a check, however if you know that a check is needed feel free to add it in your post without me asking for it, im OK with that.
#4 I wont be giving out individual XP after each encounter, and if you are all ok with it I will just let you know when it is time to level up your players. I will though be awarding GP and other awards for encounters as appropriate.
#5 It will be my job to provide a fun and fair game, However i am in no way a master GM, and i can and probably will make mistakes, if you feel i have made an error in anything, please let me know in a civilized manner and i will do my best to correct it..lol
Players:
#1 Players will be responsible for making all of their attack rolls, and damage rolls applying any modifiers that are appropriate, as well as when i ask for any kind of roll it will be up to you to add your appropriate modifiers to the rolls, when you do an attack roll, go ahead and add your damage roll as well, even if your not sure you hit, that way i have it right there if you do, and we don't waste a lot of time waiting for another post just for a damage roll. example:
Player 1 makes an attack with his short sword
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
#2 It will be up to you how you decide to split up loot and who gets what, and to track what you take, I find that if there is a disagreement on who gets what, that it is best settled with a 1d20 roll, whoever gets highest gets the loot, I like how its done in WoW myself, with Need rolls taking precedent over Greed rolls, but it will be totally up to you as to how you handle it.
#3 When your character levels, it will up to you to adjust all of its stats and abilities and update your character sheets, and as you get loot and GP or buy equipment it will be up to you to keep track of those as well.
#4 Players will be responsible for playing fair, and making sure that you have fun!!

GM BigBusMan |

a couple other things while im on the subject of rules and stuff, these are like my "house rules":
1: I don't worry about encumbrance as far as I'm concerned you will all move at full speed regardless of how much you are carrying. However as we go over rough terrain, I usually just say you go half speed, unless you have the favored terrain feat or anything else that keeps you from being slowed by terrain.
2. I don't keep track of time, so if you have spells that have a 1 minute casting time, i usually say those become 1 round casting time, meaning you start that spell on your turn and you cast it the beginning of you next turn before you make that turns actions. Periodically i will say that you guys all camped and rested, at that point the spell users can prepare their spells and everyone can heal back to full health (lots less dying that way)
3.I don't use Combat maneuvers a lot in my home games, I will allow them here, but it may take me a bit to figure out how they work and how i want them to be rolled etc etc, same goes with attacks of opportunity, I don't use them in home games, and probably wont use them here, but if someone wants to help me with how they work, i will consider them. Concentration Checks however will be made if a caster is attacked while casting a spell.
anyway thats all I can think of at the moment, if anyone has anything they would like to add or discuss, please feel free to speak up

Song of Chiroptera here hoping I still have a chance to submit a PC. I'm following up on that Cleric of Ragathiel idea from the Recruitment page.
I went ahead and created a rough draft of the character to get the majority of crunch and fluff I could manage. I'm so used to using Hero Lab that I've forgotten how to manually create the pcs. Like forgetting math can be done w/o a calculator!
At any rate, click the character link and you'll see my stats and a very brief history for the PC. I'll clean him up a bit later tonight when I get home.

Full statistics and background done, as I stated before; I am able to post several times a day if need be. I am also quite new to PbP - though I am currently playing 2 campaigns (both Shattered Star).
Let me know what you think.
(Not sure you wanted me to post here already or not, so if not - pay no heed to the post).

Khalbar Bloodsong |

I think I'm going to withdraw. There are more than enough applicants and I have more than enough to do running 3 games myself. I'd like to play this as a PC sometime, but now isn't good.
GM if you need some resources etc, just PM me and I'll share.

Posting my profile in the Discussion thread.
Name: Karl Sarvo
Race: Human
Class/Level: Fighter (Cad) 1
Gender: Male
Size: Medium
Age: 28
Height: 6'5 feet
Weight: 178 lbs
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Occupation: Mercenary
Hair: Dark Brown, Short, curly
Eyes: Grey
Skin: Light Tan
Back-story: Karl was born into a family that was no stranger to crime or poverty; his father was a small time thug, who died when Karl was 14, his mother on the other hand was a bitter woman who hated her self and the decisions she had made in life. After his father died Karl's mother did nothing but put him down, saying things like; that he would always be a petty thug just like his father, that the apple would not fall far from the tree. That angered the young Karl, because it was partly true, as he was already mixed up with local gangs and street toughs.
Two years later his mother committed suicide and her son had vowed to prove her wrong, he joined the city guard, and have somehow found a girl he would gladly spend the rest of his life with. Karl's life had taken a turn for the better, but that turn was at an end; news of his wife's corpse, found stabbed to death in an alley soon made him obsessed with finding the one responsible for his suffering. Finding no help among the guardsmen he had come to trust and befriend, he left his respectable position and had revisited the life of crime he almost seemed to inherit from his father.
After a couple of years of searching, he assumed that whoever killed his wife is either dead or has simply gone to another town. Karl took to the road, offering his skills to whoever was willing to pay, the type of job didn't really matter, just as long as the employer paid with money or information he needed.

Jalias is an amiable young man who's often found tending to his garden. He treats botany as an extention to his arcane research and one day hopes to unravel deeper secrets about the bond between nature and the arcane.
But while his plants grow and their roots sink ever deeper into the ground, Jalias feels the wanderlust of his mixed ancestry ever calling him onwards. Sandpoint, one day he'll leave. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe next year.

Bedlam Bottomland |

Hello everybody...this is exciting. Thanks again GM! I think I formatted my profile correctly. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Lorilon Minkmasher |

Lorilon reporting in!
As stated in the recruitment thread, I will work out his appearance description and personality post haste. Looking forward to adventuring with all of you.
I have never played this campaign before, and I will not read further into it than I have - to deny myself any meta-information beforehand.
Worth noting is that I am working at a restaurant almost daily the entire summer, and working some next to my studies come august. I should be able to post several times every day - and I will strive to let everyone know when I can't.
Also, is there anything you'd like me to fix considering my character - feel free to let me know, DM.
Can't wait to get this show on the road!

Bedlam Bottomland |

I have been wanting to play this AP since I bought the Anniversary Edition last Summer. I only read the first Chapter, so it will be totally new and after all the people gushing over it, I am raring to play!

GM BigBusMan |

Lorilon and everyone else please unhide your stats in your profiles if you could if they are hidden..and also make sure you have your HP/Init/perception/AC/T/FF/CMB/CMD/F/R/W modifiers info under your names in the thread, like lorilon does it will help me out a lot..thank you =}
Spell Casters, i will do the best I can with figuring out how your spells dc's work and whatnot, ive never played a caster,and not 100% familiar with how they work so i am reading up on how they work, if you could do me a favor and put (wis + spell level ) (int + spell level) or (cha+ spell level)next to your class type in the status bar (whichever is applicable), and also make sure your spell books/spells known and levels are in your Character sheets, that would help a ton..=}
I will probably be off the rest of the night as my wife is wanting me to watch a movie with her and i have to work in the morning, so I will be back on around 1:30 tomorrow, i will check in on my phone sometime in the morning though to see how things are going, if all goes well tomorrow afternoon I will get us going, i will try and get maps up as often as I can and when needed, they may be crude hand drawn maps if i cant get anything else to work, but they will work and i will make token for everyone as well. Im really excited about this and I hope we all have fun..and please feel free to give me tips and comments about my GM skills as we go along, Have a good evening!

Bedlam Bottomland |

I am really excited to do this with you guys. I have wanted to play this one for over a year! GM BigBusMan I am familiar with the PF rules so if you do need advice or assistance please let me know. (Goes for both campaigns). I am new at this format but I learn quickly. We have 7 players for this campaign? Nice to meet everybody. I am Eastern time (Michigan). I work 5-6 days but usually home by 6pmish. I am off classes until Fall. Let's have fun!

Lorilon Minkmasher |

Everything should be in order on Lorilon's profile now.
Let me know if I missed something.
Glad to have so many eager players aboard, this is promising to say the least!
Edit: I will be using spoilers to address my actions and stats during combat, to ease everything for the GM and to not clog the thread. Here's an example of what I mean:
HP: 15/15
AC: 22 (18+4)
Active:
Potion of Mage Armor 5/30 (rounds lasted/remaining)
Abilities:
Barbarian Rage 7/7 (rounds used/remaining)
Standard Action:
Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Move Action:
5-foot Step towards enemy.

Pierce "Spears" Friggens |

One of the things I did with Spears is I took the 20 pt buy I had and then I just used the extra 5 points to make him smarter. I thought about raising his Charisma, but then I thought I would play him as smart and wise, but used to following orders and a little gruff.
I think you might need to add to your CR with this many and the 25 pt buy. I am pretty sure the AP is written at 15 pt buy for 4 players. I guess we could always try some and if you see we are steamrolling, adjust.
What do the rest of you think?

Bedlam Bottomland |

I agree. This IS a big party, almost double the usual 4 party format the AP's are designed for. I would definitely up the CR's. We will see...can't wait....I am playing a Dwarf--not known for their patience...lol.
