Backstory:
Born in the small village of Umbryl, Io Desnan Kuorgan has always led an eventful life. One parent was an Iomedaen Paladin, the other a Varisian sorceress. Magic filled his childhood, until his parents left for the crusades in Mendev.
Io lived with his Uncle Tonn for a few years, hoping to see his parents again.
Unfortunately for him he did. While sleeping one night he heard his mother calling his name. 'Io, Io, come to me Io.'
Seeing her standing outside he was overcome with joy, and ran to see her. Only when he opened the door and rushed out did something seem wrong...
She was pale and dark at the same time, and her motions seemed off some how.
'Whats the matter Io? Aren't you happy to see me?' When she spoke her fangs showed through, and Io ran for all his life. Crashing through the door of the Cathedral he screamed for Father Zantus to come. His 'Mother' could not enter it seemed.
Father Zantus arrived and boldly holding forth his holy symbol drove the apparition away.
Just as he was helping Io up, they heard screaming from his home.
" Uncle Tonn!"
Together they grabbed holy water from the font and rushed to help. Alas they were too late, Tonn was dead, pale and ravaged from the negative energy touch of the vampire.
" I cannot save him Io, but I can keep him from rising as an undead." Father Zantus said as he prayed over the body.
The next few weeks were a horror as zombies and vampires invaded the town nightly. Eventually, with the help of an outsider who hunted undead, they defeated the scourge. The price was too high tho, most of the town burned and destroyed many villagers gone as well.
Adrift and lost, Io left and travelled with the hunter. He changed his name to Umbryl Char in remembrance to his home, and went in search of knowledge and power, mostly to aid him in his hunt...
