Similarly, the oread averts Nemis's gaze. But does not so enough to acoid the ball of energy flung her way by Fung. Felicitas and Toctep stand ready in event the oread retaliates.

Khalid glares at the oread, cursing it with a long-forgotten ill omen.

She's 40ft high, don't think Khalib has enough range to cast ill omen.

Ready action to cast it whenever she comes down, then.

"You come into my home and attack my creatures! And you dare chase me!" She yells from above.

As Toctep predicts, she begins to start casting a spell. Toctep throws his spear towards her in attempt to break her concentration. And the force is strike is strong enough to put her into pain that her sleeps wisps away. Nothing of it. But she refuses to move from where she stands.

"You say this is your home, but our guide says this is not your home. He wants you gone." says Belinda, offering a non combative way out for the Ored.

She replies, but seems to not take things too kindly. "I don't care what the others think. Neither the Goanran and Ainsi can stop me, I'll never surrender."

Just saying, at this moment, as long as any of her hands are free. She's going to continue attacking.

"What do you think the Ainsi and Goanran are trying to stop you doing?" she asks.

While Belinda talks, she takes out her sling and steps back as she sheaths her rapier.

"Ascending to my true form!" In return she replies, and you note again, half of the oread's body is elemental stone. Not in a pretty way.

"And why do you think they are trying to stop you?" she continues to ask.

I hope someone is taking notes, this would be fantastic stuff for a Chronicle later on.

I'm going to have to stop conversations there. Mechanically she is hostile at there moment, so she's not going to reveal anymore to you. And since we're still technically in combat, you don't have enough time to diplomacy her while she tries to kill you.

She grunts angrily at the group, declining to reveal anymore.

Hearing the exchange between the oread and Belinda, Fung gradually starts to doubt the cause of this combat. However, the oread is clearly still aggressive. To preserve the team, I do not have any choice it seems. But let me see if I can disable her somewhat.

Again, Fung continues to draw from the power of the elements around him, but this time, he seems to be drawing even deeper into himself. Straining with the effort, he suddenly coughs out some blood just as he lets loose another bolt of lightning at the oread. This bolt is different though, because as it strikes, it is accompanied by a loud thundering boom!

5-foot step, move: gather power to reduce burn cost by 1, standard: electric blast with extended range AND thundering infusion. Fung will take 1 burn and 3 nonlethal damage.

I get really tempted to pick up occult adventures everytime Fung does something out of the ordinary!

As Fung throws the loud cracking noise, the oread is thrown off guard by Belinda's talking and takes a hit. Closing her ears trying to drown out the ringing. At the moment, she looks very weak.

Nemis shakes his head at the violence that cannot be avoided, "Subideal circumstances warrant subideal behavior."

Seeing Fung's skill, he opts to conserve his own mental strength, and again tries to daze the oread with some mental scrambling. Will DC 14 to negate or be dazed next round.

Khalib gets closer and makes sur he can curse the oread the moment he comes into range.

Move, then ready action like last round - unless I'm within range, of course.

And once more, the Oread proves her mind is stronger than matter as Nemis is unable to protrude again. Similarly from the safety of her height, she decides to cast another spell.

Toctep throws a Javelin, but from where he stands, it falls short. Glitterdust starts to fall all over Fung once more.

Belinda slings a stone at the flying earth-born.

Why is Belinda at -15? She failed the save against the desert heat but healed up the damage she took from the flying section before going in.

I forgot to subtract the heal before going in, Belinda is at -7. It's not flying, it's standing on the ceiling.

If the oread is deafened, she would have 20% chance of failing to cast spells with verbal components. Unless it is a SLA, in which case never mind. :)

As the cloud of glitter descends on again, Fung fails to avert his eyes and the blinding sparkles overwhelm and blind him. Trying to orient himself regardless, he aims his next bolt where he last remember the oread to be. However, the bolt goes wide, smashing harmlessly into the ceiling.

My mistake in totally forgetting the deafened part.

The glitterdust fails to materialize as the oread is unable to make out the words she says. Belinda's stone his the Oread and causes nothing more than a minor annoyance.

Felicitas, seeing that she is 40ft up, even if you are directly below her she is still 35ft distance away from her. So you would not meet the 30ft range. Need not retcon since Fung has made her unconscious.

Fung makes well with another blast of energy, and the Oread goes unconscious. Her spell spiderclimb keeps her afoot to the ceiling, and is likely good for the next 40 mins of so.

The emissary comes singing good praises "Excellent, that one was quite a nuisance, causing a ruckus always! Now we can remove her permanently!"

Khalib sighs in relief as the oread falls in battle. He first elects to heal himself, then turns his attention to the statues all around the room. "Most interesting. Did you know that statues of the elemental lords played a key role in the binding magic of the Osirian wizards? Tahonikepsu would surely like if we brought back extensive notes or even samples of these elemental manifestations. If you don't mind I'll do that while we wait for the oread's body to come down."

Khalib, if enough time is given, will experiment on the statues and their elemental manifestations, then take some notes for his de facto leader. If allowed, he'll also take samples.

CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"What do you mean by 'permanently'/" asks Belinda.

"We need to get her down or she might die up there, out of our reach..."

Still, Belinda has no way up, so she goes to have a look at the various statues.

"These were elemental lords. They were used in ancient Osirian times to help with binding lesser creatures."

"That impure being should not live. We should let her die and fall to her death." Iyasset suggest.

You may take samples as long as you have a container to store them.

"I have a blanket which I can cut in several pieces. We can use those to fold the samples in, which I will than put in my belt pouch."

Toctep looks up and sighs "I don't mind killing in the heat of battle, but this seems to be murder. And that on the grounds of her race, I do not like that at all."

The elemental looks a little upset at Toctep's words. "Don't misunderstand, as much as I dislike the earthens. This one is not like them, she is not a pure elemental yet she strives and transforms herself to be one. That is unnatural! However, be it, once she is gone from here, the trials shall be complete and we can return to the leader."

Anybody going to attempt to "save" her? Just to be clear, you still do need to remove her from this room to pass the last test.

"Your help is most appreciated, Toctep, we'll do that. As for her... I do not care one way or another. We defeated her, let's gather those samples and move on."

Khalib seems more interested in his scholarly work, gathering watery samples with his emptied waterskin, earth with his pot, and even plays with fire by lighting one of his candles with it.

Belinda eyes up the wall, trying to judge how difficult it would be to climb.

The wall itself is not difficult to scale upon with it's rough surfaces DC10. But the ceiling on where she stands, proves to be a tougher challenge, having to climb upside down. DC30

"Maybe we can lasso here? Can anyone slow her fall if we pull her down from the roof?"

"I'll lend you my rope if you'd like, but I tend to be rather clumsy with one, so I'll let you do the job." suggests the Nethysan.

Fung sighs a sigh of relief when the oread is finally taken down, and even more relieved when he notices that she is merely unconscious. His ears perk up, however, when the host talks about a permanent solution. He is glad then that his party seems to be opposed to that as well.

Fung walks up under the oread, scratching his head in puzzlement, lost for ideas.

Short of waiting for the spell to end and hoping the fall doesn't kill her, I have no idea. And no, Fung can't jump that high. Not that would accomplish anything?

Belinda keeps trying to lasso the Ored until she succeeds. Once looped, she then drags him down the side of the cave - aiming to get him as low as she can before he loses contact with the roof/wall.

If you guys feel lucky, maybe Fung can jump high enough to cushion the fall. I.e. fall damage from ceiling distance until Fung as oppose to the 40ft.

It is spiderclimb and not fly. So dragging her to the side would likely cause her to lose contact with the ceiling and fall.

Yeap, but Belinda doesn't know that, and as we have no way to fly, she'll either bleed out up there, or fall to her death anyway when the spell wears out. So at least this way we can get it down. Maybe someone can catch or feather-fall her. With a bit of luck Belinda will at least be able to reduce the fall distance a little. If anyone has a better suggestion, sing out.

As Belinda lasso throwing catches the Oread, attempting to move her causes her to immediately fall. Luckily Toctep is in sight, and cast a spell for her benefit causing her not to fall to inevitable death.

The emissary scorns a little, but in reply says "As long as you move her out of this place."

He turns back "We ahve passed the test, yes?

Actually... she casted her own glitterdust. I'm not sure why she has a wand of it!

"Yes.. Yes.. The test are passed... as long as you see her out the door. Even if she lives, I guess with a beating like that, I doubt she will return here." Iyasset says, he moves towards the exit motioning you to follow him."We are ready now to meet the leader. I shall take you to him."

When everyone is ready to move on, let me know. If you are not waking her up, someone has to carry her out of this place as well.

GM, Fung has -6NL now, because he has taken 2 burns, one for the earlier air's leap, and one for the thundering infusion.

Fung, glad that the party found a way to bring down the oread without taking her life, assist in bringing her unconscious body out of the room. Before proceeding though, he recalls that he had recently acquired another wand. He draws it out and after a short while, finally manages to activate it.

Completely forgot I had this. Activate wand of heightened awareness. If enter combat within next 10min, he'll dismiss it to get +4 init.
