Poor guest chambers it is. The bare stone room contains four beds, a work table, and a small shelf of ancient books. Straight ahead of you is a massive mechanical apparatus. Its main feature, a single stone block the size of a horse, hangs fifteen feet above a carpet of shattered bones, rock dust, and other debris. A chain as thick as a human thigh runes up from the block to a small, dark cavity in the ceiling. Two short stone ledges situated on either side of the stone block form a shallow container for whatever happens to get crushed beneath this smashing device. Flush against the device is a large wooden wheel with numerous pegs. The wheel is attached to a crank fitted to a chain that runs parallel to the one attached to the stone block.

Carrying on!
Leaving the bed and work chamber, the party approaches the only remaining door. Pelkin does his check and hears skittering on the other side. The group prepares then the half-elf opens the door.

Buff or cast anything you wish before this occurs.

Purple desert shrubs and a desert oasis adorn this sandy valley of pale yellow and reddened sand, bordered by impossibly tall barriers of solid sand. The crimson sky above shows the sun at its highest point, and the valley's immense heat creates a rippling haze in the distance. Running north to south, a large dune makes up the floor of the valley, sloping gradually downward toward a narrow passage through the eastern wall.

The source of the skittering is easily identified as four gigantic scorpions immediately turn toward the party and move to strike, hungry for a fresh meal.

"Damn my stubby legs, I can't quite get over there."

Horgrym drops his greatsword and moves up, drawing his polearm. He stops just north of Pelkin and attacks the scorpion to his south.

Hello my players!

As a heads up, I'm going to be out of the state until October 6th, so we're going to have a day or two late start. Gasp!

If you have a problem with this, I'll make sure and reserve my GM 20's just for you.

So a few things I'd like to note:

1. If you would, either a quicklink or brief overview of stats to always display on your character post's would be nice (either in the Race or Class section of the character sheet). Makes it easier for me to do quick references.
2. I use Google Docs for maps and will take your PC avatars and drop 'em in the appropriate map. I'll have a few map links under my name between the town of Thornkeep, the floor you're on, and finally a special combat map for better tactical planning.
3. For combat, I roll initiatives and play things roughly in turn order. You can feel free to post ahead of time and I'll allow another post to change your action if its invalidated (example, attacking a target that is just felled by another player).
4. I'll eventually need everyone's email address so I can email out Chronicle sheets at the end of the session. I do send out unique chronicle sheets that also note any expenditures as well as the Day Job check results (since those are now allowed for modules).
5. For prior character activities, I'm going by the honor system here: as long as everything is noted on your character page, I'm going to be alright with it. I may review PC's just to make sure everything looks good.
6. My best posting time is in the 10am-5pm MST range, although I'll try to check on things in the evening when I can.
7. Please PM me if you have any questions!

Yarr. I'll get my character posted in the next day or two. As a note I will be at Nuke Con in Omaha and will not return until Monday the 7th.

Ok, I'm signing in, but no idea what character to play yet... I'll play something to balance out the party. (Enough GM credits to create a new 2nd level character)

Here and flexible on a character to play. Either way will send character info soon.

Yes, that's one tactic that is fair game; returning topside to rest if things do get hairy. Of course, then I get to break out my wandering monster chart!

If I want Twigg to pick up a 1st level wand by spending 2 PP do I have to do it before we start the next session?

Niswan map Ebon Destroyers handouts Combat map

@Twigg: Technically it's once per adventure. I've always seen it as either during or after (since your very first mission, you don't have PP!). So a PP wand purchase will count for Forgotten Labs. If you wish to make one during the Enigma Vaults partway through, that will be your Enigma Vaults PP purchase (presumably, you'd have been in Thornkeep long enough that you know the locals somewhat and in the wand's case, received it from the Goldenfire Tower mages.[/ooc]

Niswan map Ebon Destroyers handouts Combat map

Alright guys, we're basically close to the end of the adventure and should be wrapping things up by the end of next week (which I hope since I'm out of town from June 28th-July 7th).

That being said, boons are done differently this year. Instead of them random drawing it, you guys get to roll for it!

Do a dice d20 roll in the discussion; the post cannot be edited. If it's a 20, you get your choice of boons. If it's a 1, you get a random boon. I will roll for anyone who has not rolled by June 25th so I can report things in time.

Here's mine!
Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Silver Crusade

Male Elf Magus (Hexcrafter) 10 - HP 83/83 - AC 21/T: 14/FF:19 - Perception +7 (+10 near familiar) - F: +12/ R: +11/ W: +8 (+2 vs. Enchantments) - CMB: +11- CMD: 25, Speed: 30, Init. +2 - Arcane Pool +3 10/10

Amarthecthel's Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 7

Say, GM! I've really enjoyed this. Have you contemplated doing more of Thornkeep?

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor of Desna [11] | HP 43/91 | AC 30 (32) T 14 FF 29 | F +12 R +8 W +14 (+2 vs enchantment, +1 vs poison/disease, Elven imm.) | BAB +8 CMB +11 CMD 25 | Init +7 | Perc +20 | SM +15 | Survival +8 (+10 vs lost/+12 track) | Spellcraft +5 Heal +10 | Intim +12 | Climb/Swim +7 | Speed 40'

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 10

I hope so, we've done three levels so far.

Niswan map Ebon Destroyers handouts Combat map

But of course! I think we got a stable group now, barring if I can get a hold of Guido again <_< We'll see.

Admittedly, the next level, the Dark Menagerie, is comparatively easier than this one. Of course, that's just a lull before the (arguably) hardest floor, the Sanctum of a Lost Age.

But yes, if everyone's interested, I'd like to see this through :)

Silver Crusade
