Elena, after being hit with the pod bravely walks up to the creature and attempts to instigate diplomatic negotiations, while Mr Sunshine bravely runs away. Fran moves in and gives Elena a little good luck, she may need it. Meanwhile Erasmus picks up the glowing purple vial of herbicide.

Wormling tries to keep up, taking twice as long to get up to his keeper.

Maybe the enemy understands your words, maybe it does not. There is no outward sign either way but it does move away from the group. Once it has shuffled 5 feet it launches another green pod at Elena.

Elena is struck in the face athe pod explodes into a small cloud of green-brown dust which disipates quickly. Elena feels a small amount of her willpower drain away.

Move Action: Elena makes a five foot step, approaching the creature again. (Yes, I know you can freely take a 5 foot.)

Free Action: Elena looks startled as the pod smacks her in the face. Did he just slap me with a plant? Her surprise turns to anger, "WhaaaAAAaat?! How rude! I SMITE THEE!"

Standard Action: Elena swings her longsword at the creature in anger. Elena uses Smite. Whatever happened to basic etiquette? I tried to give he- she- it a chance.

To hit: 1d20 + 4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 3 + 1 = 23

Honaire moves around, can't quite get into flank yet with Elena and tries to slam the plant.

Honaire and Gulch both attempt to strike the plant-creature but cannot seem to strike it. Estra and Wormling offer assistance with their spells.

Unable to retreat any further and surrounded by foes the creature again launches a spore pod at Elena.

Erasmus drives his knife into the plant mass and as he withdraws the starknife the mold falls away to the ground and a man stands briefly, before falling into a heap with a groan.

With a little help he manages to stand again. He is able to direct you to a local healer. Over the course of the journey he explains what happened.

My name is Silas Gren and I am the head gardener here. All of this is my fault. We received a shipment of strange plants from all over the Forest of Veils. One of my assistants opened a crate in inside was a Mindslaver Mold. It attached to him and started looking for a place to reproduce. Our greenhouse was the place apparently.

I needed to save young Quinn. The plant was feeding on his blood, he was going to die and it was all my fault. I had to get that herbicide. It took me 3 days, but I finally worked up the courage to break in to the office and get it, but when I did everything started floating, including me.

When I got to the greenhouse young Quinn was already dead. I searched the greenhouse but the Mold came at me from behind, latched on and took control of my body. If you had not come when you did I would have been dead in a day, I swear. Thank you for ending this.

The healer takes charge of Gren and he is fine in 3 days. You are free to return to the Doctor.
When you arrive back at the Doctor’s office he listens to your account of what occurred at the school. Well, I am glad that you retrieved the herbicide and you all managed to avoid that mind-controlling lettuce. I think it may prove useful in the next task I have for you.
