Sense Motive (DC 7): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Fran momentarily looks alarmed at Erasmus' statement but then her expression slowly shifts to a look of puzzlement, instead.
"Um...are you trying to spice things up for our book-friends?" she whispers to the nobleman. "That's...that's actually really clever! Books are supposed to be interesting, so it makes sense that people living in a book would want to hear an interesting story," she smiles.
She then clears her throat. "Right, I think most of the citizen councils are just people...but that doesn't mean that all of them are! It's something I'd never thought about but it would be a good way for demonic cults to gain influence, wouldn't it kitty?"

Things are worse than I feared.
And that means that the entropic interbleed ratio is clearly rising at an exothermic rate. Which means that we can expect the earthquakes to begin soon, starting with the major cities.
Inadvertent Bluff, Aid Another: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
I must investigate this further at first opportunity to quantify the rate of interversal fluxion bleedthrough. It's likely to be an exponential relation, but what is the base constant...?
Herald goes back to being lost in thought, occasionally reaching out to pet (or attempt to pet) Mr. Sunshine.
Rhasuel |
Rhasuel is entranced by the floating workspace. Why didn't he think of that! It would be so convenient!
Then the book starts talking and he starts scribbling notes. He was totally going to replicate this before he kicked the bucket.

The book's pages flutter again as Teresa's voice is the first to speak out. I do hope that my friends in Ustalav faired well. I would hate to think that they were ill treated by the rabble.
Tabetha's voice quickly snaps back Calling them mrabble may be the reason that the common folk rose up in the first place. Be mindful of that
Tobin seems to take an interest in The Herald's proclamations Only ten thousand years you say. We had best stop dilly dallying here then.
As much as I hate to lose your company I fear that Tobin is right. Two days ago a wild-eyed man dressed like a farmer and covered in dirt rushed in here and broke open the cupboard behind the desk. He took a vial from it, and suddenly everything in the room started floating around. It was quite a sight watching him kick and spin in the air. Eventually he made his way back out, but not before he’d cursed Dr. Quolorum up and down. He kept yelling about the greenhouse and how he
was going to be too late you hear Tabetha's voice say.
Fran Belmont |
"The greenhouse?" Fran asks, lazily spinning in circles mid-air. "Oh...that doesn't sound good. We should probably hurry over there and see what's going on!"
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
However, her efforts to try and maneuver herself back towards the office's exit only serve to make her spin faster, as though she were a top.
"Noooo, this isn't what I wanted to do at allllll!" she shrieks.
{The} Herald |
Herald misses any sarcasm that was intended in Tobin's response. He smiles smugly and attempts to swim toward the exit.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
GM Ietsuna |
You are not in a time crunch. You can take 20 on teh acrobatics check, I think, if you like.
Fran Belmont |
"Rope...rope might be a good idea," Fran groans, finally having come to a stop. "So dizzy..."
________
After a somewhat lengthy period of careful 'swimming' through the air and the use of a rope, Fran is finally relieved to have both herself and Mr. Sunshine back on solid ground.
"That was fun but next time we should remember to tie a rope so we can pull ourselves back out," she advises as she dusts herself off. "At any rate, I'm ready to go see the greenhouse once everyone else is!"
________
I'll have Fran take 20/use whatever rope Elena and Erasmus dig out :)
GM Ietsuna |
Feel free to RP your way out of the office of gravitational surprises. When you are ready you may check the map. It is teh green house area. I tried to remember everyone, but our cast is quite large in this game. Sorry if I missed anyone. I will reveal the rest of the map when everyone is ready to proceed. If you could give me a marching order that, that would be handy.

{The} Herald |
Herald spins, flails, and cartwheels, never quite getting close to anything except Mr. Sunshine (who is particularly sharp at times like these). Eventually he takes his shield and uses it as a makeshift fan to propel himself slowly and jerkily toward the door.
Take 20.
Well. That was...interesting, he says while self-consciously smoothing his robes.
He is happy to be anywhere in marching order someone wants him to be, but suggests that he be toward the front to protect the squishier members. Perhaps second, behind Elena?
Wormling |
Gulch slowly gets the hang of his movement and works his way to the door. When he finally gets out, he crawls out of the room on all fours and empties his stomach on the front porch. "Le's go, an' neve' 'ome ba'." Wiping his mouth, he makes his way to the greenhouse, Wormling in tow.

Elena White |
"Do you have some rope Elena? That we might fish them out of there."
Elena shakes her head, ”I didn’t bring any rope, sorry. Just take your time getting out guys!” Elena looks into the doorway, trying to spot the vial. Did somebody grab it?
Elena watches The Herold and Wormling make it safely back to the hall. "Did one of you get the vial?"
{The} Herald |
Sadly, no. The vial was stolen two days ago by "a wild-eyed man dressed like a farmer and covered in dirt" and who is now likely in the greenhouse. I suggest we make our way there post haste.
Hmm... a Pregen |
Mr. Sunshine claws and hooks the Herald's long hair as the prophet goes past, falling finally into Fran's arms.
"MROW!"
That was awful, Fran! Never take me anyplace like that again.
Fran Belmont |
"Come on kitty, let's stand near the back," Fran murmurs to the disgruntled cat as the group finally collects themselves and heads towards the greenhouse. "Hopefully there's nothing bad in store but you never know!"
"And I'm not sure where the greenhouse is but there are probably signs - places like this always have signs. Or they should, anyway," she adds to Elena.
_________
For a marching order I'd assume Elena up at the front but beyond that I'm not sure. Fran and Mr. Sunshine will be more towards the rear of the group.
Elena White |
"And I'm not sure where the greenhouse is but there are probably signs - places like this always have signs. Or they should, anyway," she adds to Elena.
Elena looks around the hallway for signs pointing to the greenhouse.
Perception (Wis): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
Elena is prepared to lead the group to the greenhouse.
GM Ietsuna |
The way to the greenhouse is very clearly marked.
As the group, led by Elena, arrives.
The greenhouse is a large rectangular building made of a wrought iron frame with glass panels. The building looks as much like a cage as it does a greenhouse. The walls curve as they rise peaking at 40 feet above the ground. There is vegetation all around, growing up the inside walls of the greenhouse and all along the path that you have just come along. The gate into the greenhouse looks to have been forced as it is misshapen and hangs from just one hinge.
Can I have a perception roll from everyone please?

"Hello? Is anyone there?"

GM Ietsuna |
I thought of rolling them myself, but I didn't want to "take the dice out of my player's hands".
Everyone notices that there is a body in the bushes to the south of the path. The body matches the description of Quinn, the lead gardener who has been missing for 3 days. It appears to be rapidly decomposing and looks like a dry, desiccated husk.
Ahead of you inside the greenhouse you can see a glowing purple vial on the path.
Wormling |
In typical Gulch fashion, he blunders over to the corpse to inspect the thing first hand. If he makes it the whole way, he prods it roughly with a meaty finger, trying to make sure it is dead.
Wormling does his best to stay near by. "Some horrid beast, I'm sure of it. I've heard of many armed gorilla demons in certain areas of Golarion that are won't to do this type of thing. This is an ill omen indeed... Be on your guard everyone! Speaking of, this may be better suited for them to deal with..."
________
Have no fear, Gulch is always eager to facecheck any potential encounter!
Elena White |
Elena draws her longsword and lifts up her shield. Elena observes Gulch to see if he will share the same fate as the late Quinn. She lifts an eyebrow as if to say well?
If the others determine it's safe, Elena approaches Gulch to examine the corpse of Quinn.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
GM Ietsuna |
The corpse is in fact that of Alerin Quinn, head gardener at the University. His clothes are well cared for, but not new and show stains from soil and sap and he wears a leather apron designed to minimise any additional stains. He has some small miscellaneous items about his person. A handkerchief, a small set of pruning scissors and a small religious symbol of Erestil. The corpse does seem to have been drained of blood. You do not notice anything else of interest about the corpse..
Just want to make it clear, the corpse and the vial are not in the same places.
{The} Herald |
Herald examines the body for clues.
Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Once finished with the body, he casts Detect Magic and casts his gaze at the vial and surrounding area.

The cat is too busy staring at the branches of the trees in the creepy greenhouse to notice a stupid dead body. Maybe there are birds up there.

GM Ietsuna |
As you move through the gate of the greenhouse you notice that the air in the room is humid and aromatic. Odors of earth and mud clash with crisp notes of sweet flowering plants. Farther in, a freshwater spring burbles quietly. As Elena moves past them the branches and leave of the plants seem to follow her movement.
As she reaches the herbicide a figure on the north side of the pool becomes visible. See the map slide in bottom left corner for a picture of it

Move Action: Elena walks up to the creature that just pelted her with a green pod. See map: 3 squares right, 1 square up
Free Action: Elena says to the creature: "Hello! I'm Elena White! Paladin faithful to Iomedae! Who are you?" (Should Elena roll Diplomacy next round?)
Standard Action: Elena lifts up her shield to defend herself and to display the insignia of Iomedae. Total Defense: +4 dodge bonus to AC for 1 round.

To identify the creature see the spoiler below.
The creature is a mindslaver mold. It has latched to assistant gardener Gren. For every 5 by which you beat the DC you can ask 1 question.

"Oh! What is it? It looks horrible!" Fran gasps as Elena's presence draws forth an unwelcome visitor. She moves up the path a few more pace and stops, focusing her attention on the brave paladin. "You can do it Elena! Kitty and I believe in you!"
Whatever *it* is, anyway!
_________
Fran moves up and uses her Fortune hex on Elena; the witch can grant a creature within 30 feet a bit of good luck for 1 round. The target can call upon this good luck once per round, allowing him to reroll any ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, taking the better result. He must decide to use this ability before the first roll is made. So Elena can use it on her next action, whatever that might be :)
