welp. Moving as close to the rest of the group as possible; would've earlier but didn't get to check the forum before school

Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Cassander is following along behind the others.

Cassander and Tasnim, you can assume you start next to Xion, I'm cool with that.

NPC: Vitalia initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

One of the creatures skitters carefully back a step, and the purple swirls on its back seem to move for a moment. The other one steps over nearer its companion and attempts to bite Trezsia again.

Cockroach 2 5' step to S-6.
Cockroach 2 attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Cockroach 1 5' step to T-6.

After its attack, a darkness falls in the cavern, as Trezsia's torch suddenly goes dark.

Trezsia or the Penitent can attempt a spellcraft check.
(I am working on a map update)

MAP

(Trezsia and the Penitent know about where things were, but then Trezsia's torch went dark, and they cannot see.)

Trezsia:
Trezsia still feels the heat from the torch, as if it were still lit.

Male Human (Kellid) Monk 1 [ HP: 14/14 | AC:15 | T:14 | FF:14 ] (Grappled - AC:13, T:12, FF:13)

No spellcraft skill here. I will wait to respond in-character until I'm nearer to being able to take action.

Female Human (Ustalav) Paladin 1 {Init +0 Perception +0}
HP:
HP 12/13

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Trezsia:
The creature cast darkness.

To speed things along, feel free to post your actions, if you have a general plan. I will interpret actions as optimally I can (avoiding attacks of opportunity while moving, flanking when reasonable, etc.) if they're a little unclear. Vitalia is going to hang back and ready action to protect the injured until further notice. If circumstances change drastically between when an action is stated and when it will happen, we'll pause to allow any changes requested. If I move forward with an action or misinterpret what is said, just speak up, and we'll retcon it.

Female Changeling Oracle 1 [HP: 7/9] [AC: 17 | T: 11 | FF: 16] [SR: 7]

Hearing the sounds of movement and combat, Xion charges forward, weaving through the cavern tunnel to get as close to the fight as possible.

Move around the corner 20 ft. Don't think that gets me close enough to attack. If I can see in the darkness, keep moving a second 20 ft. or until I reach an enemy, whichever comes first. If I can't see, stop.

Female Half-orc Inquisitor 1 (HP 11/11) (AC15/11T/14FF)

"Xi, wait up!"

Sticking close to Xion, sword ready if threatened by an enemy

Round 2:
Cockroach 2
Cockroach 1

Female Human (Ustalav) Paladin 1 {Init +0 Perception +0}
HP:
HP 12/13

"Beware, there is magical darkness here," Trézsia calls loudly so her companions can hear, "I am wielding my blade in the dark - stay clear unless you can bring light."

Dropping her pointless torch, she unsheathes her greataxe and sends the great blade whistling through the air in direction she thinks the cockroaches last were.

atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 98
dmg if hits: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

She begins to sing song of Vildeis' glory so her companions might know her location, but softly enough not to drown out their voices.

Trezsia drops her torch to the ground and swings a great two handed blow at the ground in front of her where the foul vermin was standing before the cavern went dark. She feels her greataxe connect and dig into the creature before her as she begins singing a song in praise of Vildeis, but the axe seems to bounce back with more force than she would expect, as if the creature had a supernatural resistance some of the damage her great weapon should deal.

Xion moves swiftly up the passage, and sees where the light from Cassander's holy symbol seems to meet an invisible wall and stop before it can bathe the Penitent in its light. Her eyes, however, are able to pierce this darkness as well as any other, and she sees Trezsia, though blind, somehow manage to hit the cockroach before her as her torch gutters uselessly on the ground. Xion is able to get up close to the creature. Xion moved 40'

Tasnim follows her cousin closely, and is relieved when she can see clearly in the darkness. Tasnim moved 40'

MAP

Male Human (Kellid) Monk 1 [ HP: 14/14 | AC:15 | T:14 | FF:14 ] (Grappled - AC:13, T:12, FF:13)

As the light disappears around him, the Penitent freezes in place, listening to sound of Trézsia's warnings and her song.

He smiles, taking a short step forward, keying in to the sound of her voice and keeping her to his right in the absence of light.

His own voice takes on a sing-song tone, as he calls to the darkness ahead of him.

"Come to me, Demon, come to me and we will dance to this tune," he calls with melodic words, "We will dance and sing until one of us has had their fill of revelry!"

He tilts his head, listening for the sounds of the creatures. He raises his hands, gnarled and scarred fists clenching over and over.

5-ft Step to the right of the map, from 'R' to 'S', readying a Standard Action Grapple Combat Maneuver if anything that sounds threatening enters squares S4 or S5 to the right (mapwise) of Trézsia.

CMB Grapple Check, if needed for Ready Action: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 54

Because you are unable to see, the 5' step is actually 10' of movement. You are able to do everything else in the round as you have stated, but your movement would not have been a 5' step.

Also, please make a perception check. :)

Male Aasimar (Angel-blooded) Cleric 1 {HP 5/10}

Yes, Cassander wouldn't be scouting ahead, but he would be with the group as they progress. Probably somewhere right behind Xion.

I am assuming that Cassander can still see since he has darkvision, but I also assume I do not have enough movement (speed 20) to reach the cockroaches in a move action. Let me know if those assumptions are incorrect.

Cassander will rush into the room, mace at the ready. (Double moving adjacent to nearest cockroach.)

Male Human (Kellid) Monk 1 [ HP: 14/14 | AC:15 | T:14 | FF:14 ] (Grappled - AC:13, T:12, FF:13)

Totally right on the move, my bad!

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Cassander, I show 40' of movement getting you adjacent to either the Penitent or Tasnim in R-5. You can see clearly with your darkvision as you approach. I am assuming you would end up next to the penitent, because that leaves you in a better position to get an attack next round. Please correct me if this decision is incorrect.

Vitalia inches forward as Cassander moves, trying to see in the light. The injured woman and elf follow, with Horgus sticking close to the winged angel and his torch. As Cassander approaches the Penitent, he hears Anevia ask, with a slight quaver in her voice "Gods, the light, it's disappearing...it's like a wall of darkness!"

Horgus reaches toward Cassander. "Don't go into the darkness! You can't see what's in there! Stay with us!"

The surrounded cockroach attacks Trezsia in the darkness.

Cockroach 2 attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Cockroach 2 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Waving its antennae in frustration, the thing retreats up the cavern wall.

Tasnim and Xion, please take AoOs if you wish.

The other cockroach darts forward, unnervingly quick on its many feet, attacking the Penitent and then skittering back again.

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Penitent's perception while blinded - Oops! I see you took it into account already. Thank you!

The Penitent hears a rock clatter as the creature nears him, and reaches toward the creature, landing a good hold on a couple of its chitinous legs. The gigantic insect begins writhing furiously!

Cockroach 1 CMB (escape grapple): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20

The filthy creature's frenzy allows it to break free, and it flees back again, climbing ten feet up the wall.

Each cockroach is 10 feet up the cavern wall, within reach of weapons. This cavern isn't super tall, it's ceiling is only about 15' up.

Longsword AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Yeah, I doubt that hits, but just in case... 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Tasnim swings at the roach with a grunt as it moves by.

Move up to keep targeting the one that she AoO'd, attack it again.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 and just in case 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Female Human (Ustalav) Paladin 1 {Init +0 Perception +0}
HP:
HP 12/13

"Where are the vile things?" Trézsia stops to listen for chitinous scurrying.

Perception: 1d30 ⇒ 9

Delaying until she hears one, or until one moves and she has another chance to hear it, or until light returns.

Male Human (Kellid) Monk 1 [ HP: 14/14 | AC:15 | T:14 | FF:14 ] (Grappled - AC:13, T:12, FF:13)

The Penitent growls in frustration as the creature slips from his grasp.

"You are slippery, demon, but you only delay your journey to the Dawn's Light!"

Cocking his head slightly, the Penitent edges forward, his steps careful and measured. He listens, hands raised and ready, for any sound of the skittering enemy.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Move action 5 feet to the map's right, readying another standard action grapple for any sounds of an enemy moving into a square I threaten.

CMB Grapple Check, if needed, for ready action: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 39

Female Changeling Oracle 1 [HP: 7/9] [AC: 17 | T: 11 | FF: 16] [SR: 7]

AOO Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Xion takes a swipe at the passing insect but hits nothing but air. She nevertheless gives chase as it retreats, pursuing it toward the wall and holding her blade at length for a second attack attempt. "Up here, the beast went up the wall!"

Move 15' toward bug at T6 and attack.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
damage 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

The cousins swing at the dog-sized cockroach scrambling up the wall, but both of their blows miss in the supernatural darkness.

Trezsia stands, her sword at the ready and her head cocked as she tries to determine where to attack. (Delayed. Please feel free to interject at any time. Your turn will begin as soon as the current one is resolved.)

Xion moves up and attacks the cockroach that fled from her and Tasnim, landing a blow with a crunch of her halberd against it's carapace, but she can see it doesn't do nearly as much damage as she expected.

Tasnim, you can attack the other cockroach, if you wish. Attacking the one you had the AOO against requires an acrobatics check to avoid an AOO yourself from the creature, or you can provoke. Please let me know what you prefer.

MAP

Female Half-orc Inquisitor 1 (HP 11/11) (AC15/11T/14FF)

Yeah, let's avoid that AoO and go for the other. I will one day learn how maps work.

Oh, goodness, no, you read things right, Tasnim's cousin just had a higher initiative is all!

Tasnim darts between the Penitent and Trezsia to swipe at the other cockroach, and hits it! While she feels her blow connect, she can see she barely dents the creature's carapace.

MAP

Male Aasimar (Angel-blooded) Cleric 1 {HP 5/10}

I believe I am up, yes?

Cassander advances to the cockroach by Tasnim. "Be careful, those of you who cannot see in this darkness. Be strong. The light will prevail."

He hacks at the cockroach with his sword.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Cassander walks by his companions that are unable to see into the darkness, and his light winks out as he moves forward. He advances on the cockroach Tasnim hit and swings a blow at the foul thing on the wall, striking it. He feels his blade hit the creature solidly, but it's tough body is harder to damage than he was expecting.

Horvus cries out as Cassander and his lit holy symbol are swallowed by darkness, and blunders in after him. Panicked, he doesn't watch his step as he rushes forward. Acrobatics: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (6) - 3 = 3 He trips over an unseen rock and sprawls on the ground next to the Penitent, gasping for breath.

As true darkness falls on the entire cavern, Anevia presses her back to the left cavern wall with a visible gulp, and puts away her bow. She pushes Aravashnial against the same wall with one hand as she draws a short sword. She gestures with it and mutters under her breath.

Cockroach 2 strikes a full retreat, denying Xion any attack of opportunity as it scrambles along the walls. The roach disappears from your sight around the corner. You last catch sight of it in U-7 as it whips around the bend.

Cockroach 1 moves to strike at the blinded foes, doing his best to dodge retributive attacks from Cassander and Tasnim. Acrobatics (Cassander):1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Acrobatics (Tasnim):1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
He fails to avoid their attacks, however. He scurries along the ground and attacks Vitalia.

She mutters an irritated swear under her breath, grumbling at the escaping opponent, then gives chase, weapon at the ready. If it gets too far off ahead, it might bring friends.

Before she goes, though, she's going to make sure when she catches the thing, she can hurt it. "Ragathiel Favorem!" she chants in the darkness, and - despite not being able to see such - she feels the swelling of the golden fire in her as the spell takes hold. She then gives chase, weapon in hand.

Casts divine favor (duration: 1 minute) then moves to U8.

Male Aasimar (Angel-blooded) Cleric 1 {HP 5/10}

As the cockroach skitters past, Cassander takes the opening to swing his sword at the nasty bug.

Attack of opportunity: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Trézsia holds her ground and does not swing, sensing her comrades nearby and not wishing to strike any of them accidentally.

Pass.

Cassander lands another blow on the cockroach as it scurries toward Vitalia. It appears to be badly injured.

Xion casts a spell and dashes around the corner after the other fleeing insect, but when she peers around the bend, she fails to see it.

AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

"Xi! Where..." Tasnim sighs and chases after her cousin, wondering not for the first time if it would be worth investing in a leash.

Tasnim and Cassander both hit the cockroach and it moved to attack Vitalia, and its dead body slides past the Penitent, clattering against the rock floor, before coming to a halt.

Female Changeling Oracle 1 [HP: 7/9] [AC: 17 | T: 11 | FF: 16] [SR: 7]

"It ran around the wall here," she calls back over her shoulder to Tas.

Hearing the sound of the other insect hitting the ground confirms the danger behind her is at an end, so Xion continues forward, moving back down the tunnel after the direction the creature went, ready to strike the instant she sees something hostile.

Move 20 ft. after the way the roach went. If still don't see it, another 20. If I see it, attack if I can reach it, move closer if I can't.

Male Human (Kellid) Monk 1 [ HP: 14/14 | AC:15 | T:14 | FF:14 ] (Grappled - AC:13, T:12, FF:13)

The Penitent hears the curses and shout from the dual-eyed girl.

"Yes, rags and favors, hags and labors!" he shouts, stumbling forward in chase.

Move action to U6, readying a standard action Grapple attempt for any enemy entering my threatened squares.

Xion, you're a round ahead. :)
Tasnim, do you plan to stick with Xion? Or move as far as you can? What is your movement speed?
Penitent, perception check, please.

Female Changeling Oracle 1 [HP: 7/9] [AC: 17 | T: 11 | FF: 16] [SR: 7]

Male Aasimar (Angel-blooded) Cleric 1 {HP 5/10}

With one cockroach slain, Cassander pursues the other in the darkness.

Most likely a double move, unless I can reach it in a move action.

Female Half-orc Inquisitor 1 (HP 11/11) (AC15/11T/14FF)

She'll stick with Xion. Bad enough they're away from the rest of the party as is. I believe she's got 30' move.

DM Stuff:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

The Penitent moves forward, carefully making his way through the darkness.

As Cassander joins the cousins in their chase of the fleeing vermin, Cassander's holy symbol begins lighting the cavern with a clear glow once again, but the gigantic bug is still not within sight.

Trezsia and Vitalia hear Anevia muttering softly to herself for another moment, then a relieved "It worked!" as the tip of her sword begins to glow softly. "I have light!"

"Light? Light?" Horgus scrambles along the ground, blinking as he emerges into the soft glow of Anevia's magical shortsword. "Abadar be praised!"

Moving to V7

Male Aasimar (Angel-blooded) Cleric 1 {HP 5/10}

"It has fled," Cassander says, turning to the others. "Perhaps it seeks easier prey."

I am okay with calling off pursuit if this thing isn't bothering us anymore.

Trezsia feels her way forward in the darkness as quickly as she can. The Penitent finds his way back into the light of Cassander's holy symbol, and Xion stalks ahead, her weapon at the ready, Tasnim close behind her. She peers through the cavern but sees nothing ahead.

Just as Cassander calls out that it has given up the fight, Aravashnial cries out.
