Azlain |

Azlain seems apprehensive, but then shrugs. "I suppose you'll have to learn about this sooner or later. Better sooner."
With a bit of help Azlain doffs his armor and tunic.
It is suddenly obvious that he is not a normal elf. His waist and hips are even narrower than an elven woman's, but his chest and shoulders are nearly as barrel-shaped as a dwarf's. Much of the girth seems to be gauze and bandages, but it is clear that Azlain is somehow deformed, possessing row upon row of corded over-developed muscles on his back, sides and chest.
The oddities did not stop there. As the bloody bandages lifted and revealed the skin beneath everyone nearby saw the terrible wounds that covered his body. Someone had carved frightful runes into him. They were obviously older and caked with dried blood, but the strenuous fight had opened them.
As Wil began the process of wiping away the blood he found that Azlain's skin was comprised more of scar tissue than healthy flesh. Blades, burns, claws, acid scoring, needles and razors of all sizes had marred him, layer upon layer. His joints were swollen in ways that spoke of past breakages. His entire body was a roadmap of suffering.
As the last layers of gauze across his shoulders came free the worst horror was revealed. Protruding from his shoulders were still-oozing stumps of bone and muscle where some kind of additional limb had been viciously torn off. The ragged holes were surrounded by a few pathetic, bloody feathers still growing from his skin.
From behind the mask he still wore he looked over his shoulder with a stoic expression and said "I will not fault you if you choose not to look upon me."
the runes carved into his skin are a dialect of Infernal. Specifically, the alphabet used by fallen agents of Good who wish to corrupt and dishonor the beauty of their former language.

Talon Moonwalker |
Talon looks at the wounds dispassionatly, at least until he recognizes that the still bleeding wounds are symbols of some language that is currently unknown to him. Whilst the sight of the wounds made him damned uncomfortable, he too was a healer, and here was a wounded person for him to tend to, and so he did. It took time, and plenty of it, but eventually the worst of it was tended to. The remaining feathers plucked, gauze once more applied and bandages made. The old bandages were taken, and if they could not be boiled and reused, then would be simply destroyed. It was not a short process, but eventually, with the limited tools that he had, a half decent job was done.
Hopefully that will make things a little easier for you. I am worried though. Your musculature is unusual, and what little I know implies that feathers and that musculature in your back would mean an angel. I suspect you have more to tell us Azlain.
You are a brother in arms, and thus my time and my life is sworn to your protection, and I hope you would make the same oath for my life and my own protection. I would however like to know more about you, for if your past is likely to haunt us later, then we all have a right to know. There is no pressure to tell us immediately everything, but you owe us information. In the meantime, I will continue to tend to all of our wounds as best as I can

Azlain |

"I am definitely no angel." Azlain says. "Though I've been mistaken for one before."
He shrugged, his bandages in his severed wings already beginning to seep through. "I am just an elf. Do the still exist? That is what my kind were called when I was young. I think it translates to Sky-kin."
"As for the rest, I'm not sure what would be relevant. I betrayed someone who does not look kindly on such things, but if he is still alive I am positive he thinks me dead. I understand it has been a considerable amount of time, though I admit I am unsure exactly how long it has been. I was a prisoner. Time lost a great deal of meaning."

Seltyn Sevenleaf |

Seltyn doesn't flinch, but looks with interest at Azlain's injuries. He realizes that he's suffered a great deal.

That looks like Celestial. What happened to you?

Wilaml Fmelvam |

Wil looks at Azlain's wounds with a mixture of surprise and concern. The look of past bandages and poorly set injuries, plus the missing appendage put him on edge. "It is surprising you've survived this long brother Azlain. It looks like some of your injuries are in need of cleaning up and a surgeon's touch, although it won't be pleasant. At least I can heal you up after incision's, let me get some salves out and see what I can do. Let me know if you want this and I will try."
He kneels down and scoops out the clean water around the shrine, speaking a small prayer in thanks to the god that watched over this place. He kneeled by Suny first.
Lay on Hands Remaining 3/6

Wil regains 3 hp per use of lay on hands
lay on hands - Suny 1d6 ⇒ 5
Let me know who else needs healing and roll a 1d6 for yourself :)
He poured the clean water over the wounds slowly and scrubbed away any debris that was still in the wounded flesh before placing his healing hand on Suny's skin. As the flesh stitched together he whispered quietly to her in elven. "Thank you for what you did back there, you put yourself at great risk for me and kept me from going off recklessly as well. Thank you again Sister Suny."

Azlain |

"They do not heal, Wil. Not past a few days anyway. They do not kill me either. They simply hurt. They are punishment. I was told they will last as long as I do. Even my soul will carry them. At least that's what the ones who did it said."

Suny |

Suny smiles at Wilaml's attention, probably from both the easing of her pain as well as growing friendship. She looks to Azlain,
"Well...there's somat else we've gots t'fix." She says simply, but with a steel of determination in her voice. She looks to her companions,
"I also be thinkin' there's some more talkin' we's gots t'be doin' about every one's respected pasts an' stuff." She nods, "But till then, lets get back t'some wheres we c'n sort out our kit an' clobber an' get us some more goods t'be takin' any more fightin' t' th' next set o' bad folks we meet." She stands and moves over to help Azlain with his recovery.

Azlain |

The fresh bandages would not stay fresh long, but were still obviously a relief. The old ones, as well as his tunic, he began to wash as best he could, boiling water over the camp fire to soak them in.
"I.. think.. I agree, Suny." obviously having trouble understanding her accent.
"I am not sure what I have signed up for, but I am not skilled at much besides bloodshed so I am actually glad I woke up down here rather than some house of politics or farmer's field. What is our next step?"

Seltyn Sevenleaf |

We rest, and gather our strength and magic. Let's set up a watch, and minister how we can to the wounded.
We've been walking into ambushes. I suggest we have one or two of our stealthiest elves do a little scouting before we all bluster in. There's little doubt that the ratfolk are laying for us. If we know what to expect, we can plan accordingly. I've got some brief invisibility magic (3 rounds of vanish) that might help with that.

Elorin Silentall |

"Yes a watch and scout might be a good idea Seltyn." Said a familiar (to some of you) Elorin. As she slowly walked into the shrine area.
"sneaking past those isn't easy, It is good to see you all." she said smiling to everyone, "I am Elorin for those who have not met me yet and I shall help with the wounded if it is needed"
She looked around at the group seeing some familiar faces and some new ones. She was glad to be amongst her own kind as her time helping in the town has made her somewhat homesick.
"Seltyn if it ok with you I can take first watch, I feel I may be one of the more rested of us at the moment"
"Does anyone need help?" She was the type to get straight to work, there would be time to catch up whilst people where resting.

Talon Moonwalker |
Talon jumps up quickly at the hearing of Elorin's voice, and a look of confusion and guilt goes over his face. For a moment that he voice was somewhere he didn't expect it meant that he wanted to treat it as though there was a threat. His nerves were on edge a little after fighting the rat queen.
Elorin! Its good to see you. How has being a priestess of our Lady been suiting you?
His eyes dance, he knew Elorin's distaste for all things religion, and was trying to tease her about it, although how successful he was going to be, he was unsure. Still, that she was back listed his spirits.
Wil, Azlain, Suny, meet the lady who was instrumental in our successes in the Coastal City, and more than pulled her weight in that death trap that was the jungle. He will point out each of the members as he calls their name.

Wilaml Fmelvam |

Wil washes off his hands before turning and bowing deeply upon being introduced to his newest Sister. After bowing he takes her hand and shakes it firmly. "It is both an honor and a pleasure to meet you Sister Elorin. I am Wil of house Fmelvam, Hospitaller and Holy Warrior, are you injured?"

Elorin Silentall |

"I greet you well, Wil of the house of Fmelvam. I am in good health thank you, I make a better healer than patient. Are there anyone in need of help."
She shakes his hand and looks around to return Azlain's nod.
"It is good to see you again friend Talon. I trust you are keeping 'my' bow well." She said to him in the same mock jest he did when he asked her about the religious goings on.

Talon Moonwalker |
Talon smiles, those that he considers his friends have accepted Elorin into the group once more. She looked almost unchanged, the life in the temples and such like had not made her soft it did not appear.
The worst injury she probably has is from spraining her wrist lifting food from plate to mouth at the temples. How was the soft and easy life?
His eyes still dancing, an almost forced over joviality considering the deaths that they had seen and caused today, combined with the shock of Azlain's condition meaning he is trying his best to remain seemingly unaffected.
If only we knew more about these angels and their manner of falling. Can they be redeemed
When hearing about the bow he smiles again.
If you want it then I will exact a heavy price. A single kiss from a fair maiden such as yourself. Or you know, a bow in exchange so that my training is not completely wasted

Wilaml Fmelvam |

Wil looked to his own injuries, which appeared to be healing seemingly on their own, and smiled sheepishly. "Thank you Sister but I am okay for now, as I heal the others I too will... Heal. Don't ask how, it just happens."
He rolls his single eye at Talon's good humoredly for Elorin's benefit before smiling at Talon. "That is a heavy price with the way you smell at the moment Brother. It would be like kissing a wet moose in spring." With that he went back to healing the others, a light chuckle escape him as he pretended to cough roughly.
1d6 ⇒ 1
1d6 ⇒ 6
Those are my last two Lay on hands, take them as you guys need it :) 6 more hp for me and I should be full up now~

Seltyn Sevenleaf |

Seltyn is thrilled.
Well met, Elorin. You're a sight for sore eyes! It's good to have you back.
He looks over the group. Azlain could use some more healing, as could Suny. Wil should be all right by morning. We decided to stay here for now, so let's get the spellcasters and the injured rested.
I wasn't hurt, so I can take first watch. Perhaps Talon can keep watch through the night, and you can take the last, as long as you're rested enough to regain your magic.
4-hour shifts? That should have us good to go in 12.

Talon Moonwalker |
Yeah that works for me to take a shift or two, worst comes to worst I might be tired tomorrow... I don't gain spells of my own till next level so don't need 8 hours rest like some of you.
I can't promise to be able to watch right through the night and still be at full form, but I suspect I can take two shifts and be mostly fine. Do we take 12 hours, and then start penetrating this in the night then? Or do we leave and come back here in the morning?

Seltyn Sevenleaf |

It's still early in the day. We could just go back up and resupply, rest up, etc. I'll take a look at the items and see what's what. It will take until tomorrow morning to regain all our spells, and it looks like we'll need them.
Any magic? I cast DM a couple times.

Talon Moonwalker |
Whilst I do not often end up in close quarter combat, I would appreciate the magical chainmail rather than my own. I believe that it would mean I am of greater use to you, as currently the sheer amount of gear that I am carrying does mean I cannot proceed quite as rapidly as I might like. That is the only item I wish to stake a claim to. Perhaps one of the daggers if they are spare.
Talon will remain in the slightly odd mood that he has been in all night. Slightly on edge, his eyes often straying to whereever Elorin might be, and smiling slightly.

Wilaml Fmelvam |

With his healing powers spent Wil turns back to the group and nods with Talons assessment. "Indeed, we've struck a blow against them and they will only be reeling for so long. It would be the best time to find a staging point and hold it against them but since we've already retreated we will just have to be prepare for what lies ahead."
He looks at the magical items with interest remains quiet and reserved as Seltyn works his magic.
I am assuming the good news hasn't been shared yet~

Elorin Silentall |

Ignoring Talons comment about the temple she smiles walks slowly and seductively towards him and leans in to his face and softy but loud enough so those close can hear says "Well my tall friend, should I ever find a 'fair maiden like me' I shall ask her" and stands up and giggles a little. "It is good to be around you again Talon, you always could make me laugh" She winks at Wil as she walks past to thank him for the moose comment.
She walked over to Azlain. "Are you in need of help?" Sitting down next to him, smiles and says to him. "You are not the first 'punished' Elven I have met. We all have a past and we all carry scars, the fact that you wear yours on your skin, does not change who you are now nor does it mean you have to share your past if you chose not to. I am happy to meet you and I am glad some one as strong as you, is here by our side Sighing and stretching as she sits and says, somewhat relived, "and I am also happy I get to sit down after the journey here." Extending her hand to Azlain to offer to shake his hand.
"Sunny are you in need of healing at all?"

Talon Moonwalker |
You outwit me at every corner. I can face down a charging crocodile, face down all kinds of other beasts, and yet I cannot face you down and take it upon myself to simply steal that kiss from you. Damn ethics!
You bring out the best in me Elorin, that much I already know. Perhaps at some point we could talk more about what has been going on in our lives. I might even teach you how to use Oneshot properly eh? She is a fine piece of craftmanship, something my father would be hard pressed to match I suspect, and deserves good care.
Talon smiles widely, and then ruefully shakes his head as Elorin continues wending her way around the small camp. It was true, she really did bring out the best in him. He was more relaxed, less dour, and more talkative than in a while.

Seltyn Sevenleaf |

There will be more fighting, but now that Elorin's returned to us, you don't have to stay if you don't want to.
Seltyn looks at the jewels. What do you think is fair? You've been a big help to us. You can stay and fight, or take a share and go. It's up to you.
That would make 8 of us, including bananaman.

Talon Moonwalker |
I would rather have all the allies that we can muster with us. I will hold no ill will to you Spider if you decide to leave us, but note that if we die, then that will be on your head. You seem to know these areas well, and know the rats weaknesses, it might come in useful once more to have you on our side.

Wilaml Fmelvam |

Wil returns Elorin's wink with a warm, but tired, smile. He was spent but not entirely beaten and anyone still looking at him notices hes fully healed yet he never used his ability on himself.
Listening quietly he nods in agreement to spiders suggestion. "I agree with Spider and the sooner we sell off the gems and exchange the gold for what we need we can return here and rest up. If you want I can accompany him back to the city proper and return shortly once we have reequipped ourselves." He looks over the Bastard sword and shrugs. "In all honesty I don't mind giving my share to our sister her so that she can equip herself in the city proper, that is if there isn't anything her worthwhile for her. All I will need is a hundred to two hundred coins to replace the potions I have used."
Standing at six feet and eight inches tall, Wilaml Fmelvam is a very tall, thin elf, towering over most humans with ease. He appears to be wearing a clean, well maintained cleric vestments underneath his armored duster and sports a heavy steel shield depicting his gods symbol. He has lightly tanned skin with short cropped blond hair, akin to what Human soldiers are seen to have most of the time, his left eye is a cloudy grey while his right is covered by an eye patch. Which appears to be covering a cruel looking scar that runs from the right part of his forhead, down through his right eye and ends in the middle of his cheek.

Suny |

Suny grins back at Elorin,
'Nah, nuffin' I can't look after m'self." She replies cheerily, then at the talk of going out into the city she skips over and hugs Wilaml,
"Aye! Lets go SHOPPIN'!" She exclaims enthusiastically.

Talon Moonwalker |
If we are talking of re-equipping ourselves and the like, might it be better to relocate to the general location of those blocks of accomodation? Certainly it might be easier and more comfortable. I speak only of staying down here to make sure that at least this small area that we fought so hard to win remains clean. Whatever you decide I will go along with, but I am loath to send too many people out and into the potentially hostile city when we haven't finished what we started here. I might be scaremongering, but I would ask that you heed my words.

Azlain |

Azlain shook Elorin's hand and nodded. "I suppose you're right. I have known people far worse off than myself. We are alive, so we should live."
He said little else, simply listening and waiting to follow the rest of the group's lead.

Human on Team Human |

Spider will show you to the market where the jewels can be sold for the price he quoted.
"I think it is time for us to part ways," he says. "I assume I will get a share of the coins if no magic items. Defeating a rat bigger than the largest warhorse I have ever seen is something I will always remember."
He hugs Suny goodbye.
"If you decide to pursue the raid, leave me a message at the 'Handsome Stranger Inn'. Anyone in town can direct you there."

Suny grins and hugs Spider enthusiastically in return. She seems far more interested in the hugging and physical contact than anything else.
Yah...did I say how much I am enjoying the rolls being dispensed by the roller? :p

Wilaml Fmelvam |

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Wil watches the exchange between Suny and Spider with a warm smile, but deep down he felt like he had missed something important. "I'd hate to lose you while we are still in the middle of this but until next time my friend." Wil offers his hand and gives Spider a firm handshake. "I am sure you will hear from us as soon as this commission is done with."
After that Wil will follow up on Spiders offer to go to the market, unless someone else volunteers to sell the gems~

Human on Team Human |

After haggling over the huge aquamarine, Spider gets his target price after an hour.
Spider speaks to Wil before departing. "Good luck Wil. Give my share to your temple. Have them say a prayer for me and my four sisters. After watching Lianelda's ascent, I am a religious man. The Ferret is back in town, I am sure he will come up with a way for me to get some serious swag. Watch out for those ratmen."

Elorin Silentall |

Elorin sits quietly listening to the conversations and makes sure the things she may need are close to hand. almost without realizing it she begins quietly singing to herself. An old folk song she hadn't thought of in a long time, all the talk of pasts had reminded her of it.

Talon Moonwalker |
Talon listens closely to Elorin's songs, knowing that she might well have some small tidbit of information that could help them later on. She was smart like that. That she seemed uninterested in him was curious, and he would bide his time, building his suit before proceeding once more.
During the negotiations he will try and sell off the old chainshirt that he will no longer need, and make a few small purchases or knick knacks for later. Another potion of enlarge person, a potion of jump and a potion of mage armor from funds that he had left over from previously.
Being in the human city was a strange experience. He tried to keep himself disguised as best as he could as he went around and explored the area, trying to find out any rumours and the general goings on of the city.

When do we head back to the sewers and finish what we started? It sounded to me like we went back to the room above ground. Hence this post. If thats not the case then disregard.

Azlain |

Azlain stuck with group, saying little but glad to take in the sights.
The way I look someone might think I'm a leper.
Suddenly realizing something, he began to chuckle. It was not a plesent sound, but he was obviously happier than he'd been since he had met any of them.

Suny |

Suny skips along with her companions, seeming to not care about any 'Looks' the local Humans might cast in her direction.
All on offer seems new and novel to the blond Elf and she flits from place to place, sampling things, poking things and generally trying to see all that there is to see.
Suny takes random hold of which ever of her friends are closest at the time to point out whatever new discover she makes in her travels.
perception:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Wilaml Fmelvam |

Wil's steps are heavy, after such close encounters and being drained of his abilities he always felt like the world was riding on his shoulders but with the loss they suffered it was an especially painful day. He carried his share of the findings and went to purchase potions to replace the ones he had used up before returning to the sewers and the shrine down below. He smiled at Suny's energy but the smile never quite reached his eyes, he was badly distracted and with Spider leaving them to their quest he was focusing hard on what lie ahead of them.

Talon Moonwalker |
Talon notices the dour mood of the Paladin, and deliberately spends some time both helping out and talking with him
Wil, I know the death lays heavy on your heart. It does on us all. The problem however is that if we only focus on that negative, we are weakened. We all tried our hardest. The blame doesn't lie specifically with any one person, and if you try and take it all then you and I are going to have words? You are my Blood Brother, what harms you harms myself also. I can't allow that. Smile a little, and let it go. Your oaths are important, but not if they drag you down into self hate and the like ok.
Mental heal check? :p

Chainmail |

The money and gems are sold and the elves awake the following day. Setlyn expends a single spell to identify the rest of the items after relearning his spells for the day.
An estimate puts the treasure haul at 20,000gp to 40,000gp, but that is the cost it would take to buy the items. Selling them would bring less.
