Seltyn Sevenleaf
GM:
Seltyn weighs the risks, draws his sword, and decides to cast color spray, originating diagonally from the top right corner of his square, and getting Merk and Hagrid, but not his friends. With any luck, he'll get the spell off. DC 16 Will. Current AC 17.
Knowledge dungeoneering to figure out the creature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Human on Team Human
The human with the bow fires at Seltyn who has cover while casting. He has fired into tight groups before and seems good at it.
Seltyn is covering enough in the corner that the temple guardian next to him does not get an AoO.
Still -6 for cover and two shots.
1d20 + 7 - 6 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 6 = 31d20 + 7 - 6 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 6 = 31d8 ⇒ 1
Will Saves Merk then Hagrrid 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
After both bow shots miss. Hagrid is affected by the spray of many colors and slumps to the ground, Merk resists.

Marlamin drags Talon to safety.
Frustrated, the guardian burrows up into the top of the crawlway causing massive dirtfalls to clog the passage. Face to face, Seltyn realizes this creature is a small elemental from the plane of earth.
The creature sizes up the opposition deciding who to grab or slam.
Seltyn Sevenleaf
It's an earth elemental! Defend yourselves!
With the injured outside and unable to help us anytime soon, Seltyn sees that the elves still inside are on their own. With only one spell left, and no way to cast it safely, he does the unthinkable.
He attacks Merk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Human on Team Human
The temple guardian slams Elorin hard--digging prevents a charge. Elorin slumps to the ground.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Merk slams his axe at Setlyn; his glazed eyes showed he was already raging. Biting deeply with his axe into Seltyn, he prepares to cleave the helpless bard and holds back at the last second.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 221d12 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Telethal retreats in fear from Hagrid giving Amys another ineffective shot with her axe.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 121d12 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
The fleeing Telethal avoids damage and is afraid for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds (including this one).
The archers seem content to target Telethal while Seltyn feels outnumbered.
Outside Ingwe reunites with Marlamin.
Seltyn Sevenleaf
Roll to stabilize next round. 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Just made it! Merk's been hit twice, BTW.
@ Elorin: It's a DC 10 constitution check + damage taken. Your con is 8, so -1, and -5 for the negative hit points, so 1d20-6. You need a 16 to stabilize at -5. If you don't, roll next round at -7. Mar can stabilize you if he can get to you.
Marlamin
Mar yells in,
Look, we really mean you no harm. A truce? Let us take our friends out and go. There has been too much hurt already. Think on this, if you fight the rest of us out here, you will be weaker still. The dryad will undoubtedly have its way of knowing. If we call a truce, and my friends and I leave, the forest will see us going and focus on us. This will give you time to heal. Maybe we can make it out. I hope so.
Mar looks at Talon, hoping for input. Leading is not his strong suit, and he is caught between a possibly hopeless battle and leaving his friends.
Human on Team Human
Merk answers, "We are waiting for Hagrid to regain consciousness, I hope your companions do too. We have little need to heal."
Marlamin
Okay. Again, all I want is some sort of peace. You have seen me, you know that this is true. Would it be possible to arrange some sort of deal?
Mar thinks he has more words for the man, but decides to give him time. Stalling, he hopes for input from the others. And, he thinks of his companion. Using the knowledge from Ingwe, he thinks of something.
In Elven, and with a low voice, If we can get the humans out of there, along with our allies, they will be weaker.
He turns to Ingwe, and while visualizing the fight between the elves and the humans, he says, Go to the heart of the forest. Bring help. I dont know how much you understand, but if she can see what I have said... Run. As fast as you can.
He knows he is sending an ally away, but... with two of them injured, it does not look good.
And one of them entrenched in studying abroad lol jealous.
Talon Moonwalker
We are all hurt, your healer down and our own allies also seriously hurt. Our gods might be opposed to one another, their agendas are at odds. That does not however mean that we are opposed to one another. Let our people go and you will be doing us a great service. Life and destruction are not at odds with one another. One needs the other to survive. I would ask that you spare those lives that are at your mercy now.

Marlamin reveals Ingwe has convinced the dryad to come. She is bringing the limited mobile resources at her disposal. Her most powerful creatures, very large snakes, are slow and cannot respond so quickly.
A breathtakingly beautiful creature with Spanish moss for hair and a delicate light brown bark skin arrives. The dryad meets the group part way to the cave as Ingwe communicates through his bond a meeting spot back down the trail from the cave. She is calm and serne.
"My mistress Sarenrae has spoken. I am to trade myself for your release and safe conduct away. My blood is similar to your blood--but your blood is more important as the future of an entire race relies on your mission. My magic is weak outside my domain, and the destroyer cannot let your friends live without my sacrifice; fighting with the resources at my disposal is not warranted. The agreement between the greater powers has been reached. But while Rovagug expects and receives blind obedience, my mistress values her subjects, their feelings, and their thoughts. Do not pity me, although I look young, I watched Queen Ciedrel be born."
"I know of no other option, and I do not presume to put the forest and my life above your cause and our three companions."
Talon Moonwalker
If Sarenrae has decided that this is what must be done then we are not going to stop you. However, I would like to know your name, so that we might honour what you are about to do in our songs and tales of the future. Your sacrifice is great, and for that we thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
Talon admires the quiet courage of this woman, and takes the small potion that he has. If there is no other possibility of healing, then he will take it, as his wounds are great and need tending too
Chainmail
The dryad looks touched.
"Radriel is my name. I have been the tending spirit for this place ever since a great druid passed from these lands and left his essence to hold the creatures and plants together in harmony."
"If we have no other option, I guess we can get on with it. I will pass some words of wisdom on before I go. When Rovagug gets what he wants this place will soon be dangerous."
"Can anyone think of another option? I surely can't"
Chainmail
Radriel looks at Marlamin and smiles. "You will have to keep my spirit alive as well as the legacy of Radagast the Brown, whose dying Ishtari spirit held this place together. The young ape I place in your care and the bond of this magnificent animal I transfer fully back to you. My other charges will find a life elsewhere. These barbarians serve Rovagug, and Rovagug wants me. I have given my word that you will leave, the elf nation will leave this place alone, and I will surrender to them; in return your companions and all your possessions will be returned and you will be granted safe passage away."
"It will take a few months for the jungle to be destroyed and the nearby town to be converted. Then they will look to the ruins for more treasure. Although a group representing the elf nation is forbidden to return, perhaps you could find another legitimate authority to sponsor a return. I would hate to see Rovagug and his followers have the power of the ruins. I warn you, though, this land will be hostile."
The passage to the cave is opened once more and the dryad enters. Seltyn, Elorin, and Telethal are returned barely able to walk on their own. The dryad hugs them each as they leave and bids them to keep the elven lineage strong. "You are the future; I was just a relic of the past. My time has come."
Talon Moonwalker
Even relics of the past have much that they can teach the future. You will be missed.
We can find such a legitimate authority, although it may take us some time.
With the others back and alive, Talon turns and begins leading the group back to the safety of the beaches, his job clear, his purpose even more so
Chainmail
Experience check -- party is at least halfway to 3rd level. I will need to resolve events in the neutral areas (Northern Reaches for dwarves and Coastal Kingdoms for elves and post in the main thread).
It will soon be time to decide next destination. Sailing further down the coast into the unknown is now an option too.
Talon Moonwalker
When and if the party is somewhere safe then Talon will turn to them all. Hopefully there will be a camp fire burning that they are sitting around, maybe eating.
We have screwed up. There is no doubt about it. We, the guardians of the forests and the wilds have attacked that which is our sanctuary. I am most to blame for this. When confronted with creatures that looked to be about to attack us all, I lost all reasoning and shot first, asking questions later. For this I beg all of your pardons. It would appear that I have a lot of learning to do. My mistake led us all on this path of ruin. We could have potentially all been killed today as my stupidity led to more and more problems for us. I am sorry for this. I never even thought for a moment that the first arrow that I let fly could have led to such problems as we faced.
I know that there is little reason for you to take me at my word and listen to my suggestions. However, if it were me then I would make a course for the Human city immediately. Let us go there and find a sponsor for a new expedition into this temple. I would not have us go back to our Queen with defeat upon our lips. I vote for not returning just yet, and seeing what we might be able to do off our own initiative. Let us make our story a true epic, and our dedication to the Queen's cause without question from those that we believe to be traitors within her very court.
Seltyn, you lead us, and you have led us well. I stand ready for your decision, my bow and arms are yours to command.
Seltyn Sevenleaf
I agree with Talon, and I also blame myself for letting us get trapped like that. I should have known better, but at the moment, I mistook the humans for allies, and thought they'd give us refuge. I was wrong, and realized what they were really about only after it was too late. Had Radriel not interceded, at least some, if not all of us would be dead right now.
We owe her our lives. If we can't save her, there's still a chance we can save her forest from this cruel fate. Let's rest and heal up, and tomorrow we'll head for the city. Elorin has at least one big fan there. He might put us in touch with a few more. We can't go back to the Queen as failures.
I'm guessing Elorin and Seltyn only have 1 or 2 hit points right now?
Windfavor
As the dryad has secured you safe passage away, you quickly rush back to the beach to signal for Windfavor just past midnight, but he is already there. Windfavor claims he heard the news from a few seagulls who spoke to him that you would be returning and he should be ready. They wailed that, "The lady of bark and moss is no more."
Windfavor pulls out to a sheltered anchorage safely away from shore. He is very taken with the young ape who quite docilely follows Marlamin around. The ape is not a bit afraid of the sea and is somewhat of a natural sailor and follows Windfavors instructions eagerly. (who'd a figured that) "Should we can rest and recover here or sail for home? I hope you gave as good as you got."
Seltyn Sevenleaf
Seltyn will trust Windfavor to the ship. If Elorin or Mar haven't used up all their CLW spells, now's the time. Save the potions, if there are any left. I used mine on Mar back during the ape debacle.
We'll wake up with 2 more hit points each. Healers get themselves to full hp first, then the rogue, the wizard, and Telethal last. If it takes another day, so be it. That's 2 more free hit points each. Let's not go into the city and get TPKed. Full hp, full spells.
Elorin Silentall
Elorin drinks her potion and moves as quickly as she can towards the boat with the rest of the group. She is very unhappy over what happened and the actions of the two gods has dragged up a lot of old feelings and memory's. She processes what happened as she walks. She is unusually quiet and complacent. anyone looking at her will notice she is subdued more than her injury should warrant. I still have a CLW spell left if anyone is desperate and wants to keep their potion.
Seltyn Sevenleaf
Elorin: I think we were about out of potions. Heal yourself, and save the potion. A night of rest, and you and Mar will have some healing to go around. He can memorize 3 CLWs tomorrow, and you'll have 2 or 3. Let's get you two up to full, then you can fix the rest of us.
Windfavor
As the human city is so close to the elven kingdom, Windfavor sets sail for home. "I can do some maintenance on the ship and we can replenish supplies. Plus we can find out what the spymaster found out while we were gone."
Talon used a potion and one was used to bring Mar back. The rest you save. That makes 4 total lvl one potions. You will probably get to choose three more when you get back.
