The Traveler gives a shrill cascade of notes he doesn't seem to expect you to be able to hear. "Now this pointy bit o' shine is fancy." It only takes a second of consideration before he decides to shrug off his pack so he can heft the dead soldier onto the back of the horse. It's only while he's lashing the body down that he looks up at Tom. "To, uhm... bury him. S'only right. Me an' him got real close in 'is last moments. Just the thought of leavin' him here in 'is clop-beast's soil turns my stomach."
Sheridan's ear twitches at a perceived shift in the sounds that permeate through the camp.
Who's really in control here?
What is about to happen?
Pack on back, seat in saddle, Sheridan looks around. "Where'll you sit? ... See? we should definitely take more of these clop-beasts. What if we run into Belym... or Bucky? You're headed his way, right?"

Defy Danger if needed: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Bender of the Elements: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 2 = 10
Bender damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
The Defy is if there's anything that would get in Belym's way; I figure Bender requires Near range, so there may be soldiers she'd need to dodge or avoid. That's a 7-9 for anything except Str. If Bender works to just move the boulder, 3 hold moves the boulder to the riverbank, and deals 1d6 forceful damage to any Braxans who were trying to cross.

Hearing the shout of the guards, I ready my blade, elven Skysteel practically singing in the cold night air.
Gentlemen, you've fought bravely, but if you value your lives, I implore you to disengage and retreat. Some of you might survive this fight, but can you be certain you'll be the one to live? Your commander has sounded the retreat. Take this gift.
[dice=Parley + bless. Leverage: all their blood stays on the inside of their body]2d6+2
The men fall back, going north as they are bid. you have a clear shot to the commanders tent, What do you do?
Of course, but on my own and this far from our altar . . . Kelos would demand a great sacrifice. I fear the cost would be too high. We would need numerous human sacrifices, and I cannot ask you to spend your men. Do you have any prisoners?
Selwyn's face twists in disgust. "We have not taken any prisoners" he says "Are you capable of illusion, without blood sacrifice? else we will simply have to retreat into the forest, and pray to Mersiel that we all arrive safely". What do you do?
What here is not what it appears to be?
What should I be on the lookout for?
The mercenary beastmasters are disobeying the orders to retreat. you can see that they are not gathering their things to retreat, but to join the fray. (Thats kinda both. mostly the situation is overt.)
What do you do?

Ron is in charge, he has enchanted the commander, and convinced him to retreat.
Aside from a disorganized retreat, the beast-masters are going to loose their monsters on the attackers, and that would be terrible (But you might be able to catch a few and brainwas- befriend them)

I think you actually have to be in between reach and Near (about 15 meters away max). You can get there before the Braxans have crossed the bridge, but it will exhaust you (-1 ongonig to Str and Dex, until you rest for a few moments.
Assuming you do, if you don't, there are braxan soldiers attacking the Norwich archers
The bridge flips over onto the bank, sending several braxans flying, and simply crushing others. the men appear to be in retreat, but you have not broken their force, they will be back. What do you do?

there are almost 20 beastmasters, and a large number of cages. already loosed are a pack of malformed dogs (anyone who as been to, or studied, the western deserts would know them as hyenas), and a viscious, scarred bear, larger than any bears of this forest. the are currently working to loose an enormous serpent (which Sheridan will know as a semi-aquatic ambush predator, think larger anaconda). i thought gambits just represented clever ways your plan comes together, where the dog thinks it's eating your friend but haha that was the plan all along we just needed him close enough to stab to death.

Yeah but we placed some limitations on it. Here, I don't even know where you are or what you are fighting. I think it would be stretching it here. Are you completely alone? Someone else could aid you.

The battlemaster smiles, and feints towards Selwyn. The commander side steps and brings his sword down where Ron was standing a moment before. However, the old battlemaster hops back just out of range of the enormous sword. As Selwyn recovers from his swing, Ron holds the butt of the spear with his right hand and thrusts it one handed at Selwyn's armpit. Selwyn doesn't even grunt as he brings the sword back at Ron with a flurry of cross slashes. The commander is fast, but Ron is barely able to block each blow.

oh now I'm rolling for damage, huh? Is this experiment to see if my dice are just low or if they're cruel in both directions?
[dice=paaaain]1d8+2
Just low! Ok
Pinned by the foul beast, with just enough room to separate us by way of eleven blade. It's easier to get out from under a dog when you cut him I half first. Also maybe getting mauled by a dog was all part of Ron's clever plan?

No, I just decided to steal it from Ron, because quotes make dice go funny
the good news, you manage to slash open the dog, and throw if off you. the other one leaps at you, but a chunck of the ground fries a it, sending it flying. Jericho is beside you, trying to hold off the remaining two hounds.
The bad news, the dog takes a piece of your face with it same damage, same tags

Wait, so how do you GAIN gambit from my injuries when I'm far away (all part of the plan!) but you can't USE gambit to help me (Sorry, can't see you can't plan for this whomp whomp). It seems logical that a either master tactical genius like Ron can plan for my injuries as part of a lure to get the animals in close where I could close the trap or he doesn't benefit at all from when I get hurt. For the record, I'm strongly in favor of using gambit to people you can't see when it makes sense in the fiction, even if it means retconning the fiction. Thats keeping with the intent of move. My read is that when one of us gets hurt you could go "Ah, but I WANTED them to think they had you on the ropes, when in reality it was just a clever plot and now we have a much greater advantage!"

There isn't a line of sight limitation under RAW. We imposed that limitation on the +1 to any roll option during the cultist fight. Under RAW, I probably could have spent a gambit to help you with a short flashback to us training together and me giving you a few tips on fighting trained attack dogs.

I'm just saying, if there's going to be a limitation (and I think that losing out on EXP is punishment enough) the limitation logically has to work both ways. I'm not certain why you'd get gambit for me getting hurt but in turn can't spend gambit on me. The mechanics of it isn't that you're barking out orders on the spot, it's that we're triggering previously devised plans because you're so clever you already considered what if dogs attacked me.

Yeah, just deal your damage (remember the +4 to damage for working with Jericho). also, you only mark a debility once, only a temp -1

I should have made it more explicit, but what you were describing as something from a move you already had rolled (give the earth the forceful tag). if you want it to count, Conwall should untake the damage, and you get hit with arrows (1d6+4, hits befoe you can take cover) instead, do you? also, that's a fine retcon, seems logical

Whoops . The response to my post said I knocked aside one of your attackers, which I took to mean it worked. Seeing the DM's post, and since the Aid roll was a miss anyway, I'll just leave it be. Would removing an attacker have reduced Conwall's damage by 1?
