Stats for an Abjurer Wizard from The Chilling Pass of Argosal.
Still working on char. Should have something soon.
EndofDivine |
I had a druid or conjurer bouncing around with my old stats so I could summon things that weren't as horrible as me. But since you're allowing rerolls to people with less than a 10 point buy and I ended up with a 5 point buy...well...
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 5) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 6) = 17

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 3) = 13
15, 14, 16, 14, 17, 12 this time around. Exact opposite of the first time. =D

On a side note, did everyone enjoy the opening flavor text that much? I keep getting praise for it.
Well deserved praise, and it keeps getting better the more you add!
Must admit Im a little jealous of some of these rolls, but my more 'average' stats should be fun to play: Bromen has lived his live being told he is destined for greatness, then he 'dies' and finds himself in the company of people more exceptional than he ever was.......sounds like a lot of fun to play!

Seraphina while I like the character setup, the backstory is kind of gibbed.
The duke doesn't see people, and is pretty much a recluse. As for the other bit about being thrown into the mist, there's no being resurrected from that as it literally destroys your soul as well. Not even True Resurrection brings you back from that. You literally cease to exist.
------------------------------------------------------
On another note, as much as I enjoy the fact that everyone seems to love the chilling pass, I'm going to be looking for diverse backgrounds among the lot of you, so, I think everyone understands what that means.
That being said, plenty of potential characters from everywhere else to choose from, but I think Argosal has the majority, haha.
That being said, we could certainly use more Hazrit, Dukedom, and Agristrad.
I think the issue is that Argosal is the most straight forward, and easiest to wrap a head around. There's plenty of things about it that can be used rather easily to make a nice character.
That being said, it's easy to make a character if people simply ask me about the place, on specific, or hell, broad, things. I think there's been *one* person from Zeltos?
I mean I don't want to privately message people and tell them "Hey, you should make this guy be from here" and much prefer them do it of their own accord as they read the flow of this recruitment thread.
I won't say that I won't be taking more than 2 people from 1 province, but, I'm not taking more than 2 people from the same province.
Oh! And good news. I'm taking 5 total. Kind of upped the number. S'gonna be swell.

Looks like I missed this also.....so Im guessing we need to end our background with a more 'normal' death? Should we assume the mist was already part of everyday live before we died meaning we already have some knowledge of it, or should our deaths pre-date the mist making the new world order a bigger surprise?
Simple enough to make an adjustment either way. What are some of the threats in Hazrit that could cause a dwarven warrior to meet an untimely end?
(and since the thread is picking up speed, heres the profile again for reference)
Duboris |
The Mist has been around long enough for you guys to know that nothing comes out of it. Mist-related deaths are lacking in information, but, everyone knows it's lethal.
As for Hazrit's lethalities, the mindless dwarven miners in it's mountains use broken picks, shovels, etc, etc. They're relentlessly strong, though.
As for the rest of it, dragons tend to fly around freely, namely red ones. It's a bit of a birthing haven for them, and they've seemingly come to an agreement on Territory on account of not being able to fly very far away.
The cliff-falls are awful, the mountains are all volcanic on the inside, the mines are mazes, the miners don't take kindly to strangers.

Coming right up, Namtarou.
Oh also, I'd like to point out that if your original rolls don't break 15 point buy (Before racials) that you're allowed a reroll. However I'm sure everyone, save for 1, who's doing it now, has already done so and been rather pleased.

Bromen Spellbane - Dwarven Two Handed Fighter - Hazrit

I'd also like to point out that I'm giddy with anticipation, and in light of that, I haven't stopped making NPC's.

Never stop! Pull back the curtain and reveal to us a story.
Thanks for letting me make those adjustments. My highest stat isn't my highest anymore but I can do things besides wave my hands angrily and go 'nee' at enemies.

Rolling for stats, LE Cleric of Asmodeus on the way! How widespread, or not spread at all, is the religion of Asmodeus at this point? And do you have any more details on Zeltos? Thinking that may be where he is from...
Youch...interesting spread, thats for sure. Lets see what I can work up here...may go Oracle instead. Aasimar for race.

Have a couple of character ideas, should have something solid soon.
Tiriael |
So... After much soulsearching, I have settled upon a White haired witch/Magus idea I have been toying around with for a while.
I have to say that I think I started backwards with this one, and the first thing that sprung into my mind was how and why she died :D. And then her LE alignment.
Would the above classes/archetypes/alignment be ok Duboris?
Raziriel |
I got a little carried away as I wrote her background, so please bear with my wall of text, and I hope it is understandable :D
The crunch is a base sample, no gear as of yet, and still a work in progress but I think it gets the overall idea across.
Let me know what you think of the concept and Backstory Duboris.
Thanks.
Btw, this is the person that was posting as Tiriael ;)
Duboris |
@Seraphina
The background is fine, save for the fact that the only way you're not allowed to die is via mist. It kind of kills you deader than anything. TR won't even bring you back.
@Raziriel
Lovely background, but I fail to see how the crab stays alive. That, and I assume you're from Gibraltar. Burning witches wasn't their strong point, but that place is a mad house regardless, so it flies well.
Also while I typically love the idea of a crab familiar, there's not really any crabs anywhere near Gibraltar, and I understand you picked it for the CMB bonus.
As for the LE alignment, pft. Trust me, in this mad world, LE may as well be CG. Your characters idea of evil is probably going to be significantly less so than whatever you guys encounter.
Raziriel |
Well, I guess Rend could have swam away? :D
The issue with the crab will be the same for any class with a familiar right? And yes, I have chosen him for the CMB bonus, since it will play an important role of what Raziriel can contribute to the party as far as combat goes.
If there are no crabs near Gibraltar, I guess I need to be from somewhere else, where would we find access to a sea in the six regions? I guess, in terms of background it would make more sense her hailing from Agristrad, with the fundamentalism and forced conversions and all.
Plus there is plenty of water to go around? ;)
Lamora Drach |
Like a lot of people, I'm not 100% done but I've got enough done that the idea is obvious enough. Mostly just submitting her now so I can get feedback from you on the background to smooth out any bumps.
I'm a bit sad that there wasn't some kind of disease or pestilence kind of domain for clerics though. Went with an undead lord cleric because Urgathoa's other domains just don't fit with what I had in mind. And I had to have a scythe just because it feels like it fits better thematically than hiding behind a shield...even if a necromancer with a scythe is a bit cliche.
Kolgar Ironblood |
Submitting Kolgar Ironblood, defender of Dwarven honor and man of few social skills.
I've always wanted to do a Stalwart Defender type of character, and this guy's built around that idea. And, in true dwarven fashion, he's about as sociable as a brick. Perhaps less so.
Hoping I got the feel of Hazrit right, I didn't see a longer blurb on it like the other places got. I was thinking of picking up the Surface Survivalist racial modification, but I wasn't sure if Hazrit was windy/cold/hot enough to warrant losing the very dwarven Darkvision.
Duboris |
@Raziriel
I wasn't ousting the crab, I just thought it was silly. The sewers are chock full of the little buggers. Nasty little buggers.
Agristrad is a marshland/swamp/bog/pillar of filth, and don't forget you can easily flavor a King crab into a Hermit one without changing any of the stats. The Dukedom of Gibraltar was actually strategically made to be near water, and as such was originally within 30 miles of the sea, but, that's inaccessible now.
Crabs easily got caught for food, but, needless to say the little buggers escaped and dived into the sewers were plenty of "Food" was. There's worse things, though.
Regardless, a crab is fine, and I can see it being qwerky and hilarious assuming the character makes it in.
@Kolgar Ironblood
Plenty good background. Surface Survivalist racial mod is kind of iffy, but as you get higher and higher, the wind/heat is kind of ridiculous. Especially for the higher volcanoes where things kind of become nonsense.
Plenty of cave-diving though, just as much as cliff-walking.
@Lamora Drach
That's the cultists typical behavior, actually. Raw Raw Sacrifice Raw Raw no other dieties Raw Raw death to non-believers Raw Raw Sacrifice.
In other news I've never seen this many evil characters submitted before. Can't blame ya given the materials, however.
Raziriel |
Regarding alignment, I have to say I am still on the fence about Raziriel - it has been a looooong time since I played an Evil character.
I just envisioned her as having her morals broken by the stuff she has been through, and really distrustful regarding others, unwilling to lay down her trust or to ponder the greater good in face of her own objectives.
On the other hand I envision the Lawful part as a structured creature, and not at all random in her actions - totally opposite from the "I feel like robbing this old lady because I need money" :D
The idea is to have her able to work with others towards a common goal, but also callous regarding "good" actions.
Duboris |
I figured I'd be nice about this and give everyone a quick glimpse of the area they'd be in at the start of the game. Stripped of Important inklings written by me, of course, but still more than interesting, and plenty to whet your appetite. I also thought I'd explain, for now, a very important mechanic.
Or not.
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5337/8773591328_bd0c751a68_h.jpg
That being said, there's something really important to this game that comes into play as soon as it begins and will be thoroughly explained at that point in time, most likely by one of the more intelligent NPC's that like to hear themselves talk.
For now, I'll just say that it's called "Aether" and that it plays a supremely crucial roll in your soon to be less-than-enjoyable-but-awesome lives.
Duboris |
Recruitment Closes in 2 days, because the anticipation is killing me and it's plenty of time for everyone to get their stuff set up that's already posted interest.
I'm aware this a bit of a time-skip, but I'm so giddy for this that I can't personally wait much longer, bahaha. That and everyone seems rather devoted to posting! I'm happy :D
