Action 1: Round 3:
Instead of being scared by the demon’s near miss, Hedda smiled. ”My turn.”
Swinging her greataxe down at the vermlek’s head, she attacked.
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

The cold iron that was used to forge the weapon, sliced through the vermlek's disgusting hide and it roared in anger.

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
knowledge planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Even though her focus was on the already manifested demon, she could sense that there was something off about the obese farmers that were starting to attack. Realization dawned on her and she yelled to warn the others. "Those obese farmers are actually vermleks. They're inside their skin. Be careful."

Arodric went white as the unseen shield stopped him being skewered by the farm implement. Being in the Engineers might be dangerous, but you never really see who's shooting at you...
he nodded as Hedda confirmed his guesses. Desperately he searched his mind for any scrap of knowledge on Vermlek capabilities - or better, weaknesses - he might possess.
Meanwhile the wielder swung wildly with Arodric, the black sword glowing with purple light, giving word to the battle cries the sword fed him... though less impressively than the sword wanted. The harsh Abyssal in which he spoke rendered all speech scary, of course, but the words inside that meaning lacked punch. "Ah, you will die...? you WILL die? I am Arodric? Sorry - This is Arodric, and I am its wielder." In common he added "oh, just let me concentrate, damn you!"
attack, 2 handed, arcane strike: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 26
confirm: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 = 27
knowledge:planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
damage: 2d8 + 12 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 12 + 2 + 2 = 19
If kills...
Arodric's sword sliced through the air, diagonally slicing through the obese farmer who had attacked him from left collarbone to right waist. The wound sizzled as the 'farmer' slid apart, torso toppling off and flopping on the ground before the whole body started burning with a purple fire.

Climb: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 7 - 4 = 4

Oh, for the love of...at least in my IRL game it's twos I'm rolling constantly instead of ones...

With a string of muttered curse words, Kaede rose to her feet, thigh-deep in the murky water and caught up in the wreckage of the grapevine trellis that had broken her fall. She tried to climb back onto the earthway, but her boots slid on the embankment's slick muddy sides, and the ghost of a grapevine caught on her armor and entangled the haft of her hammer. After several seconds of struggle (and more choice language), she finally emerged onto the earthway, dripping wet and muddy, with a few lengths of grapevine still clinging to her. I don't have time for this...

Well, I tried to do the move action check, but apparently that wasn't happening...dicebot, why do you hate me so? So it's a full round for me to get back on the embankment.

Action 1

Finding himself in a flanking position with the demon, Sabola felt the gods shining on his back, ”take this demon,” he thought.

Sabola swung with his twin cold iron blades against the creature.

Main Hand MW Cold Iron Dagger: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 = 28
MW Cold Iron Dagger Damage: 1d4 + 4 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + (4, 1) = 12

Crit confirm:

Main Hand MW Cold Iron Dagger: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15
MW Cold Iron Dagger Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Off Hand MW Cold Iron Dagger: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
MW Cold Iron Dagger Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (2, 2) = 9

His blades cut deep into the creature which...

... bled heavily and appeared bewildered from the furious nature of the attacks.

Bewildered:
Bewildered: The target becomes bewildered, taking a –2 penalty to AC. The target takes an additional –2 penalty to AC against all attacks made by the rogue.

... fell to the ground in a lump of flesh and blood.

Hello Kazmuk!

Hey guys, really nice to play with you, I hope we all have fun! And hi Arodric! Let's try this...

Kazmuk hears the sound of fight and clearly recognizes some words in abyssal. He doesn't know who is fighting the demons, but he'll help for sure. He runs as fast as his short legs allow him and, once he has a better view of the fight, he stops.

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Vermlecks hum...I hope my calculations are correct.

Kazmuk makes wide gestures while he speaks in a deep voice, finishing with an abrupt punch in the ground.

"Ya zaklykayu vas mohutniy zemlya , padinnya shche raz!"

Chunks of stone appear in the sky above his foes, raining down the demons, breaking their heads and backs. The ground, littered with stones, seems difficult to walk.

Kazmuk casted Stone Call, making a 40 ft. radius difficult terrain for 5 rounds. The radius barely touches Hedda, but catches all the baddies and all the space behind them.

Stone Call@Fat Farmer: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Stone Call@Farmer: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
Stone Call@Vermlek: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7
Stone Call@Hedda: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
Stone Call@Farmer: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12

Damn it! I hit one of my supposed allies! Good start Kazmuk, you stupid dwarf...

Not sure if everything is alright... also, there is no initiative, right?

Hi Kazmuk!

Question: would I be able to charge along the earthwork?

Welcome Kazmuk :)

I'm hoping that Hedda completes her turn before Kazmuk. If not let me know and I'll adjust my post.

Hedda continued to move her greataxe in a fluid movement, bringing it back across the vermlek's torso. It almost looked like she was writing something in the air as she fought with her weapon.

attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Just as she was about to make contact with the demon, rocks rained down out of nowhere. A rock hit her in the upper arm and she grunted as she lost her momentum and had to take a couple steps back to avoid the worst of the pummeling.

it makes sense that the stones would contribute to her missing her target so we'll go with that.

I'll be out of town for a few days. I'll have internet access but posts will likely be short and not properly formatted. If you need to move this along before I have a chance to post, please bot Hedda. She'll hack and slash her way through the demons until they're dead.

Yes but not this turn since you don't a straight line to your target.

Good first post. We do play with initiatives, which I roll at the beginning of combat.

Current Initiatives are:
Arodric 6
Hedda 15
Kaede 25
Sabola 7
vermleks 2

initiative Kazmuk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

I 'rollplay' in order but may alter the order in the turn recap.

These combat turns are rather short with not much roleplaying available but there will be more time once combat is over.

Kazmuk continued to run, avoiding the stones that his own magic created.

Hum... better try something else this time.

Kazmuk touches the muddy soil and begins a couple of gestures, finishing with a thick spit in the ground.

"Zhorstkyy kaminʹi mastyla slyz povynna zlamaty kistky!"

Kazmuk casted grease (Reflex DC 15) under the closest vermlek (it is on the southeast corner of the 10 ft. square)

Kazmuk looked at the other combatants and yelled.

"Sorry for the stones... If you are killin' demons you found a new ally! When this is over, the lady can throw a couple stones at me too if it makes her happier..."

Yeah, that was joke about you killing everyone. :)

There's no link to combat maps. I move everyone based on their descriptions for the round in question but you have to be explicit (and even then I may screw up). :)

It doesn't matter this time since you can still cast grease but, if it would have mattered, we would have corrected it.

Don't be afraid to point out any mistakes I may (will) make. I have very thick skin and am here to tell a good story so it's all good.

Sorry, I usually use bold in lieu of quotation marks. You hadn't mentioned that before. :P

Kaede saw that several of her allies were injured and in need of aid - but she also knew that being uninjured, she would be the most able to neutralize the threat of the vermleks quickly. She swung her long hammer at the vermlek nearest her with a loud cry...

Attack, damage (cold iron): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

...and made solid contact with his gut, though the blow missed any vital spots. "Let's take these monsters down, then I'll treat any wounds."

At least the 1 was for damage and not attack...

6/27 HP https://docs.google.com/document/d/11YJJloTRtW5R5w8tB1eFVdffoqeDoS27DfP1800 NDzE/

Arodric coughed up blood - but his fear the Vermlek had called for reinforcements was paranoia - for now.

"Hold for me! Keep them on the rocks!" demands Arodric, chanting and waving his sword, then stepping PAST the enemies.

Asking Sabola to hold. Casting Protection from Evil on self. Move past & through the Vermlek. Spend Arcane Reservoir on CL. Up & right diagonal, then up twice. Difficult terrain due to rocks (so no one can 5ft step, right?) Attracts 2 AoOs - with flanking @ AC 20. Summoned Evil creatures cannot attack, I believe.
If successful, they won't be able to cast without provoking AoO, as well as having a penalty due to wounds to CL and concentration. They can't 5 foot step. Sabola and Hedda will have flanking if they move up.

Action 1
Now that the threat was neutralized, Kaede reached into a bandolier draped across her chest. Withdrawing an old, beaten tusk with a curious fetish tied to its end, she began to approach each of her wounded allies. "Here; let me help." She began calling out a rhythmic chant in the same harsh tongue as before and dangling the fetish over the many injuries, and the runes carved along the bone began to glow.

Cure Light Wounds wand charges until folks aren't hurting quite so bad anymore. I don't know exact hit point numbers, so I'm not quite sure how many we need, but feel free to deduct however many it is.

Action 2
After seeing to her allies's hurts, she stood and looked around the flooded fields. It was full of life, once... She shook her head and looked to the others. "I don't like being out in the open like this. We need to get under cover. Can everyone walk?" As she scans the group, her gaze falls on the strange new dwarf in their midst. "I suppose it's thanks you'll be wanting, for nearly crushing everyone," she grumbles. "But at least you managed to take some of them down with us..."

She looks back up and sees Sir Ilivan standing obstinately across the fetid water - then she notices something else. "Where's the other kid? Roan, or whatever his name was? Anyone see him once we went to fight?" Then suddenly her attention perks even further. "And - those are the horses I hear!" She runs back along the earthwork, heedless of her heavy armor and the fatigue of battle, and leaps across the gaps.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 1 - 4 = 1

So apparently I should quit with the whole trying-to-be-nimble thing. :)

Tripping over a boot and landing with a splash in the water, she simply begins splashing straight through to the opposite shore, anxious to get to the animals.

OOC: I want some time to roleplay properly the 'end of battle scene' so there are a few minutes between Action 1 and Action 2.

Therefore, part of Kaede's Action 2 stuff actually happens in Action 1.

Her Actions 2 response starts at: "She looks back up and sees Sir Ilivan..."

Action 1

Sabola lay quietly on the ground, his life's blood ebbing away as he tried to staunch the flow with his fingers. Realizing his inability to stop the flow, he lifted his hands in prayer, "Inheritor, my life's blood is shed for you, I give it gladly," he coughed twice, pain wracked his body, and his arms fell to his side as he passed out.

Action 2

Sabola's eyes fluttered open. He moaned. "I did not expect the afterlife to come so quickly, or to hurt so much," he thought. His eyes tried to focus on the figure bending above him, "Mother? Is that you?" After a moment, he recognized Kaede, and he asked "did none of us make it then? We failed?"

Action 1:

Hedda bent over andtriedto catch her breath. Whatever that thing had done to her at least she made it pay with its life. She spat out some blood and wiped the blood from her eyes. She was about to reach for her healing curative when Kaede offered help. Hedda grunted her assent and sighed as the healing energy washed over her. It was then that she noticed that Sabola was in rough shape. She was just getting used to him and he had been nice enough to share his cloth for masks. Walking over to the half-Orc, she nudged him with her boot. "You can't die, Sabola. Get up."

Turning around she almost knocked over a dwarf she was fairly certain had not been with them. After dealing with demons who infested bodies, she was wary of the newcomer. Gripping her axe she demanded, "who are you and why are you here?"

Kaede smirks. If I'm one of your Inheritor's angels, something's gone horribly wrong. She helps Sabola up to a sitting position, then continues to chant over his wounds. I carry a healing talisman with me, and I used it to close up your wounds. You took a beating, but I'm afraid it's more of the Abyss for you, not Heaven just yet.

Kazmuk approached the other combatants with both his hands up. As he walked, he kept whistling. All of them saw him casting spells and, perhaps, if he kept his his hands in plain sight and his mouth occupied, they would know that he was casting no spell at the moment.

There is no doubt they are the ones I look...

Once he came closer, he stopped but kept his hands up.

"You do not know me and I do not know you, but you are the ones I was looking for!" He gave them a moment to heal themselves before he continued. "My name is Kazmuk, a blue warden from from Tar-Kazmukh... a wizard." He he explains. "I came her a couple of months ago with my kin, but we were ambushed and slaughtered. I'm the only left. When I arrived in Nerosyan, I heard of your group and tryed to find you, just to discover that you had already left, so I left after you... so here am I."

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 Making only the second check, since Kazmuk has no idea that Roan is missing.

This thing with the tag... you tag the person you want a response, right?

Yes, that's correct on the tagging. It's a chance to draw others into RPing with you.

As Kaede said, it is a good way to 'poke' people and tell them you've offered an opportunity to roleplay, in case it wasn't evident.

I plan to move this along tonight so you all have about 12 more hours to get some RP in.

Hedda grunted at the dwarf's introduction. "So you're the one I have to blame for my sore arm. You may want to work on your aim."

Action 2:

Once they were feeling better and got Kazmuk sorted, Hedda realized that neither Roan nor their leader had done anything to help. She planned to give Sir Ilivan a piece of her mind which was when she noticed Roan was gone. Instead she asked, "where's Roan?"

Sabola smiled weakly, "more of the Abyss sounds great actually. Where are my blades?" He scanned around as he got to his feet. He was a bit unsteady, but he managed to find his daggers, clean them off, and stuff them back into his bandolier. He looks at Kaede, but points at Kazmuk, "where'd the little guy come from?"

Do you want me to leave everyone with 'light wounds' (75 to 99% of maximum hit points) or to get everyone back to 'healthy' (100% of maximum hit points)?

Arodric had felt something tear in his guts during the Vermek's last spell. Desperate and nausesous he fell to his hands and knees, black sword lying in the mud, and felt his stomach convulse. His vision narrowed to simply the patch of ground below his face, a dead farmer's hand off to one side. Spatters of blood fell onto the ground from his open mouth.
after healing
Though Arodric felt much better, his nausea rose. Desperately his stomach heaved. Something thick and worm-like choked his breathing. Still on his hands and knees, he reached up to pull it clear, convulsing stomach trying to do the same, and he wondered if he was going to choke to death here in this field.
A moment later he could breathe as it popped clear, not a Vermlek as he feared, simply a two foot length of intestine.
While the others talked he simply shook, the adrenaline of the battle leaving him shaking.
Finally he stumbled to his feet, the black blade serving as a walking stick.

"You came alone? These days?" he looked at the dwarf with respect "You must be pretty good, or pretty stupid then. The countryside's not safe anymore - if it ever was."

Arodric was starting to thank Kaede when her head came up.
"The horses?" he asked, desperately following her - straight into the mud.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
I don't think he used a black blade point

Action 1

"I'll tell you who he is - someone a damn sight more useful than you, and he was throwing rocks at our heads." Kaede at least had the good sense to mutter under her breath this time. She looked with concern at Arodric - he'd seemed to be pretty sick after the fight with the vermlek, and she worried he wouldn't be strong enough to keep going. You all right? she asks in a hush, leaning toward him.

Tag Arodric.

Action 2

And why weren't you scouting while we fought, instead of standing there with your perfect shiny sword up your ass? Why the hell are you even out here, if not to fight demons and help people? Kaede managed to keep this to herself, however.

"I'd feel better if we checked on the horses first - you said yourself you don't fancy walking back to Nerosyan, and I like that horse of mine better than I like most people." Including one in particular I can think of... "But if you'd rather leave it to chance, we can go scout out the buildings - at least my horse is smart enough to come looking for me. Hope you enjoy your stroll."

Action 1

Kazmuk spent just five minutes watching Sir Ilivan talking to dislike the man. Unfortunately he was the superior in charge and one thing dwarves learn is how to follow orders and to respect their superiors, even if they are completely full of s***.

Kazmuk stepped ahead, with his hands at his back.

"The name is Kazmuk Doortsgarf, from the Blue Wardens of Tar-Kazmukh. I had been seeking this group from Nerosian just for a chance to kill some demons, simple as that. You, sir, point the way and I do what I can to help."

Action 2

Listening to the talk about horses, Kazmuk left to the opposite side, searching for his own horse he left tied to a small scorched tree. After a couple of minutes he came back with a small and robust animal, suited for a dwarf... at least it looked like one.

Sir Ilivan considered the offer for a moment. "Well, if you made it here by yourself, you're better than that kid that just went running." He looked at the rest of the group, "And it sounds like you have some good sense about you. I'll let you come along with me for now and then we'll see once we finish our mission."

"So Kazmuk here will form part of my group; is that understood?"

So Arodric, you vomited your own intestines. You have to elaborate on that.

Have I done this wrong? I figure that sort of level of damage, done to the stomach and intestines, has to have done some pretty serious damage. I figured having his intestines chopped up sounded about right. I can imagine the healing magic works almost perfectly, just leaving a length of intestine that was pushed through the stomach wall needing to be removed by less metaphysical means.

Action 1
Arodric stepped out of the water, the dark sticky mud simply running from his clothes. Prestidigitation

Kaede wrote:

"No. Not really." there's a bitter tone in Arodric's voice as he speaks just as quietly. "I'm guessing whatever I coughed up I probably need, long term. I knew this damn thing was a death sentence, didn't realise it came in parts. I'm good to go though. Sword'll keep me going till I drop and it grabs the next in line."

He looks pensive "You know much about Roan? Didn't think he'd just run. Do you think they got to him somehow?"

Action 2
"Look. I don't like it either, but I answer to a Higher Power. I'm an Arodric - I assumed you knew what that meant. Do you know what out life expectancies are? Sword says jump, I jump."
He paused "Sword doesn't say anything about the horses. You want me to check the houses? I'll check the houses. Sure would be nice to have a ride out of here, though."

Actually that is very appropriate so thank you for that; it makes a lot of sense.

BTW, I'd like to move this along later tonight so let's see if we can get the people that haven't posted to post within the next 12 hours. (and I know that Hedda is still out).

As always, I won't necessarily cut off any ongoing RP, but it is my main job as a GM to move this game along and present RP opportunities for you guys.
