Delta Green: Wisdom of the Aged (Inactive)

Game Master GM Darkblade

A retired Delta Green agent reached out to A Cell because something's was not right in his hometown. What followed was a series of events which propelled O Cell through a variety of challenges threatening to release things best not meant to be known.

Hig draws his gun, makes eye contact with Felix as he nods at the door. Then he pushes it open.

doors and corners he thinks.

Agent Ormando goes first through the door, moving to his left and quickly scanning the area. He takes in the room, looking for danger or signs of movement.

Myers Apartment Burgled

In the living room area, it appears the sliding door to the balcony is open, with the wind blowing softly and rustling a mess of papers scattered around the floor by three open filing storage boxes.

A small mess clutters the dining room table and both closets in view appear to be open. The other doors down the hallway, likely the bathroom and bedroom, are closed.

Alertness or Search Check please, anyone who is rushing the apartment.

Oscar draws his gun and enters the room.

Alertness: 1d100 ⇒ 64

Jones follows suit and draws her firearm, but lets the others go first. She's no marksman.

Allowing Ormando to cover the hall and living room Oscar moves right into the dining area, eyes on the kitchenette area. He does not hear any movement in the apartment other than his and Ormando's, with Olive's still out in the hallway watching their backs.

Clear he says, noticing the table before him is covered in empty liquor bottles, a new in the box mega squirt gun, and a birthday card.

The kitchen area appears in order, if somewhat piled with dirty dishes, the trash can nearly full with what appears to be fast food packaging and wrappers.

GM rolling Alertness for Ormando: 1d100 ⇒ 53

Agent Ormando moves into the living area as he spots a shadow sway across the curtained sliding balcony door. A barely audible thump sounds as a knotted nylon climbing rope bumps against the outer wall of the building. He signals to the others as he moves to the doorway.

Spotting no one on the balcony the agent edges forward, parting the curtains slightly with his barrel, then steps through as he brings his gun and sightline up along the building, trailing after the rope. No one is on the line, it swaying in the breeze.

The rappelling line traces up the side of the building and over onto the rooftop. Whoever set the line only ran enough slack to reach this floor, planting the line directly over Myers' balcony.

Hugs won't disrurb anything yet, once clear he will stay in overwatch and observe.

what would he need to squirt, and is the alcohol for squirt gun ammo?

The squirt gun is still new in the box, a pink and yellow Super Soaker model, with a large reservoir tank holding about 3-4 liters. The card next to the box is likewise in pink, yellow, and orange colors, with a large "Happy 8th" on the front.

The liquor bottles are all empty Captain Morgan's 100 proof rum.

The loose papers from the filing boxes appear to be accounting ledgers and corporate reports.

I think the only man with answers just went up to the roof. Jones, watch the line in case he doubles back. Ormando, let's head to the roof, and assume he's armed and will shoot to kill.

Felix and Higs can check out the balcony, if it makes sense Higs will run back to the stairs to head to the roof, or down to the main floor.

Jones nods and watches the window/line.

As Agent Oscar was not actually aware of the balcony climber without Agent Ormando first mentioning it, we will assume he did.

GM roll O: 1d100 ⇒ 64 GM roll O2: 1d100 ⇒ 56

You rush out of the apartment and past the hall with the elevator to reach the stairwell with hopeful roof access. You find the door has an emergency alarm pressure bar on the door which will likely sound if opened.

Agent Ormando however notices a cigarette butt laying on the floor by the stairwell in what must otherwise surely be a non-smoking building, considering some of the rooms he's passed had warning placards for oxygen in use. Taking the chance he pushes on the door bar opening the exit onto the landing. Wide stairs lead down to the lower floors with deep and easy risers and sturdy hand-holds. A small metal service ladder rises up along the wall on the left behind the door to a square, locked hatch which must allow for access to the roof.

Agent Olive waits in the apartment, surveying more of the interior of the entry area. She notices the TV in the living area is an older non-HD model without Smart features. There is a land line telephone mounted on the wall near the kitchenette. A discarded phone book lies on the floor near the bookshelf which appears to have been rifled through sloppily, similar to the filing boxes.

A locked mahogany display case in the dining area holds four angled and cushioned, red velvet shelves supporting four out of five weapons as part of a collection. There is a suppressed dull black rifle, a long automatic rifle with a black wood stock, a squat matte black shotgun, and a light pistol with an ivory grip. The last spot likewise seems shaped to hold another pistol, but is currently empty.

Down the hallway Olive spies a white dry-erase board on an easel which has been messily erased, the writing smudged and smeared save for a small green triangle in the upper right corner of the board. There does not appear to be any electronic hardware or gear in the living room, dining room, or kitchenette.

I thought when we were talking about breaching an apartment and sweeping it we'd be more or less sweeping the whole room together.

After entering the stairwell after Ormando, Felix climbs the ladder, signals Ormando down below 'on three' and opens the hatch slightly after three beats.

How does Agent Oscar unlock the hatch? It is a simple padlock, secured most likely to prevent a resident with dementia or other issues from accessing the roof than for any real security concerns. If you have a small prybar or lever you might try to snap the hasp or dislodge the hinge, you could brute force the hatch itself, or perhaps shoot the lock free. Other suggestions are possible as well.

Speed reading. Didn't see that it was locked. Can I jimmy it with a multitool?

It is a simple hinge and padlock so if you are referring to a normal pocket multitool then you can probably use the pliers or file bar to try and work the piece free, or a combat knife if available. If you are referring to one of the little card size pocket tools then no that would not work. Without a skill in Lockpicking you will need to make a Strength check, at -10% due to doing this one handed on the ladder with an improvised prybar. Sound reasonable?

Agent Ormando does not hear any sounds from the roof above while on the balcony. Looking out over the parking lot he does not see or hear anything unusual on this side of the building.

Realizing the knife blade will not fit well into the lock Agent Oscar then sets his mind to prying the hinge free of the hatch cover. It takes some doing but he manages to pry the flange and screws free of the thin steel cover, nicking himself but careful not to leave any trace blood on the ladder or cover.

Do you wait for Agent Ormando to return or proceed with opening the hatch?

Oscar waits for Ormando to come back.

Sights on the hatch He says pointing his fingers in the shape of a gun at the hatch over his head and twitching it as if firing.

Ormando comes back. Whispers How can an old guy clamber up or down a balcony? Or did he run out down the stairs?

He motions up to Agent Oscar.

Agent Oscar sets himself firmly on the ladder, stepping up another rung and locking his leg around one side to better maintain his grip. He puts away his knife and motions to Agent Ormando that he is ready. With a strong heave he throws open the access hatch, the square rimmed sheet flipping open fully, slamming against the roof only articulated hinges.

Glancing around Oscar catches a glimpse of a pale, blonde haired man far across the black tarred roof, aside the exterior fire escape ladder on the opposite side of the building from Myers' apartment. The man looks at Oscar with deep ice blue eyes and a condescending smirk before stepping over the edge of the rooftop.

A few seconds later a heavy metal clang can be heard as the man lands on the first, possibly second, landing of the fire escape. A rhythmic clanging can be heard as he rushes down the stairs.

Agent Oscar:

Agent Oscar climbs the rest of the way out of the service stairwell and races across the roof after the fleeing suspect. Reaching the edge he sees the man jump from the last fire escape landing to the ground below, forsaking the last stretch of ladder yet to lower to the street level. The man sprints across the small lot on this side of the building to a waiting red jeep with a black soft top, idling in the bank lot on the opposite side of the street. The driver appears to also be a pale man with blonde hair.

Oscar can attempt to fire at the man or jeep at range, or begin climbing down the stairs.

Agent Ormando:

Agent Ormando rushes down the stairwell, many times taking two-three steps in a stretch, pacing himself but moving faster than might be wise. He finally reaches the ground floor and bursts through the exit door into the main hallway, setting off the emergency klaxons, loud buzzing alarms sounding, lights strobing at each end of the hallway. Guessing which direction he might need to exit closest to the escapee he forces himself past elderly residents as they stumble out of their rooms, starting to respond to the noise and alarms. The rear exit door alarm triggers as well as Ormando bursts out the door, finding himself looking across a small lawn and hedges to see the suspect jumping into a waiting red jeep with a black soft top.

Ormando can attempt to fire at the man or jeep through the hedge, or give chase over the hedge and across the street.

Agent Olive:
Agent Olive scans around the living room, spying no router or computer equipment. A quick scan with her mobile phone confirms there are wifi signals in the building, both a public signal offered by the apartment complex and three others likely from tenants. None appear to be for Myers - MrsApplebaum, 3047683242, and Frontier407. The waiting around the apartment starts the little hairs on the back of her neck to rise moments before the alarm begins sounding, a pulsing electric siren accompanied by two flashing strobe lights, one in the living room, another down the hallway over the bathroom door.

Olive can exit the building with the tenants who are starting to mill around in the hallway outside, conduct a quick search of the apartment, loot, etc...

Agent Oscar:
Agent Oscar rushes down the exterior fire escape as the exterior alarms blare and people along the street begin to take notice of the building. A couple of retirees manage to find their way onto the stairs, impeding Oscar's progress, forcing him to put his weapon away and assist them with descending the aged steel stairs to the waiting staff below, who are trying to herd the residents from the building and corral them in designated gathering points. The last he sees before reaching the ground is Agent Ormando rushing into the street as the jeep tries to flee the scene in view of several bystanders, some already producing cellphones to capture the action at the apartments.

Agent Ormando:
Agent Ormando ignores the sirens around him as he clears the hedge and watches the escaping suspect right himself in the back seat of the jeep, the driver beginning to squeal tires, attempting to speed away from the scene as a small crowd of cellphone video and selfie-taking onlookers gather from the mini-bank, tobacco shop, and pharmacy across the street from the retirement community.

Agent Olive:
Agent Olive, unsure of what to do next, decides to give the last few areas of the apartment a quick look before joining the exiting residents in the hallway outside. She notices the bedroom has been rifled through, the drawers partially open, clothing tossed about, and a small box of handgun ammunition laying on the bed next to an empty, belted military style holster. In the bathroom she spies some shattered glass and pieces from the broken mirror scattered on the floor. She opens the door fully to discover Mr. Myers laying on the floor, battered, beaten and bruised, his left arm heavily bandaged with a largish wound that seems to have been covered in a purplish salve seeping through the wrapping. He lays propped up against the far wall with a single gunshot wound to the head. He twitches slightly as she enters and looks up at her, trying to say something, his speech soft, his lips barely moving, pulling his wrapped arm closer, shielding it from her.

Ormando will stop and pull out his (burner) cell phone and take a quick video too.

Then he will slip back to where they parked the car and meet the team to exfiltrate the area.

Oscar goes down the zip line to Myers' balcony and pokes his head in the window.

We got enemies fleeing the area. Time to go. Grab anything useful.

He then continues down the fire escape and heads to the truck.

The zip line was on the opposite side of the building from the fire escape, which was why the suspect was still on the roof when you came up the stairwell ladder; he had crossed the building after making sure no one followed him up the zip line. Is Oscar reversing direction, crossing the roof, then rappelling down to Myers' apartment?

Never mind. Oscar calls Olive on his cell as he goes down the fire escape instead.

Agent Ormando catches about 20 seconds of video of the fleeing jeep before it runs through the red light, turning onto the next street speeding towards the bridge across the river. He then looks around as everyone is watching the crowd on the street and those still slowly climbing down the fire escape.

Seeing Agent Oscar start to head back up those stairs, then turn back around on his cellphone, bumping into a confused looking older woman turning in random circles, Agent Ormando has sudden inspiration to salvage this situation.

He taps his throat mic, hoping Agent Oscar is wearing his own. Dementia, Alzheimers, whatever, use it for cover. It wasn't us.

He then glances around for a staffer, and moves in their direction.

Higs / Ormando walks up to the staffer. When we got to Mr. Meyer's apartment, the alarm went off. I am guessing a patient pulled the alarm? Not that they will remember it.

The staffer appears confused for a moment, not recognizing you from before. Seeing the orange lanyard identifying you as a guest of the facility his look changes on to resignation. Yeah most likely. Usually it happens once or twice a year with some of our older folks. But this makes it three I think in the last six months. Shame what getting old does to 'em. Guests should check in around the front, they'll let you in once there is a proper head count. The young orderly then goes back to trying to gather people together as another staffer checks faces to a clipboard of resident mug shots.

Agent Oscar reaches Agent Olive on the phone and she informs him that Myers is dead, the apartment partially tossed, the zip line still dangling from the roof, bound to be spotted if it remains that way much longer. She asks how he and Ormando want her to proceed. Right now no one knows, but if this gets found out now... and we haven't cleaned the scene... if the staff makes noise... What do you boys want to do?

Agent Olive quickly goes over the entirety of the apartment, confirming the surfaces are wiped of anything her group may have touched and trying to locate anything which may have importance to the current case or Delta Green overall.

In the bathroom the agent grabs a couple of quick photos of the body, it's wounds, and the disarray. It appears Meyers briefly struggled with his assailant before being shot and killed. A few strands of white hair are grasped in his hand. She is careful not to touch the body or the strange wound on the former agent's arm.

In the bedroom Agent Olive finds an empty service holster for a revolver and three boxes of ammunition. The boxes have a small green Delta symbol marked onto them. She adds the ammo to her purse, just in case, but not the holster.

In the closets she finds two sets of "repurposed" electronics which appear to be used for covert surveillance. She deems the transmitters and boom box receiver too conspicuous to attempt to remove and leaves them behind. She does however drop the wrought iron manacles into a tan canvas shoulder satchel which had been repurposed as a home exorcism kit.

In the kitchen Olive discovers a hand towel covered in dried purple goo and blood, giving off a foul decayed odor. It would appear that Meyers had been cleaning the wound on his arm here in the kitchen, as evidenced by similar bandages and debris in the kitchen trash.

In the living room the agent notices a few books on the shelves which may be of use but doesn't have the time to really go over them, opting to leave them for the regular authorities to discover. She also doesn't have time to go over the papers scattered about, opting to snap a couple of pics of both the papers and the books for review.

Agent Olive then listens for activity in the hall, stepping out to join Agent Oscar as he exits the stairwell from the rooftop after pulling up the assassin's rappelling line. The pair then take the elevator down and exit the building, moving to the car and a waiting Agent Ormando.

Only once in the car does the group feel comfortable discussing what has occurred.

Eventually he stops at a Starbucks, and gets two venti coffees (black, sugar, and cream, sweetener for Oscar and Olive) along with a venti mocha (for Ormando).

Returning to the car, he slips behind the wheel and hands out the caffeine. What's in that stuff you scooped up Olive?

Glancing at the kit, Ormando tries to come up with how recently it was used, or what it may have been used on.

Agent Olive takes a few moments collecting herself before she replies to her fellow agents. She uploads images from her phone to a DG cloud server and surreptitiously to her laptop as well, then purges them from her phone.

She hands Agent Oscar the boxes of ammunition since Agent Ormando is driving.

Ammo:
The ammunition appears to be hand-loaded cartridges of .455 caliber. Each brass casing is etched with either of two commonly recognized Elder Signs. One box of originally 20 rounds has 6 cartridges missing.

While still on her laptop Olive reports that there were several items she had wished they'd had more time to review. It was apparent that Myers had kept files from his previous employment in the apartment, but that she was not sure if they were from Delta Green operations or something else. She attempts to review some of the books from her less than best resolution camera phone pics, Founding Fathers, Secret Societies, something something. Flipping over another couple, Fundamentals of Physical Surveillance, I think. Frustrated at the poor quality she disgustedly exclaims, The Hunt for Zero Point, what the hells, is that fiction or some scientific who knows what...

As she continues with her reviews Agent Oscar goes through his phone, where he took pics of the files Myers had sent. There, I knew I had remembered it. Myers took a pic of that jeep, from the TV news report. Ohio license plate UBT-9770. An attempt to run the plate determines the plate number is not part of any recent or established plate series. The plate itself comes back as unregistered and available as a vanity plate.

When someone reviews the home exorcism kit, you discover the items are well cleaned and maintained, though it is not easy to determine how recently it was last used. The kit contains an old family version of the King James Bible notated for the Myers' line, what may be holy water in a clear glass bottle etched with a Roman Catholic cross and prayer, a tall white candle (never lit), a small stub of a white candle (previously lit), a small white bottle of perhaps anointing oil, a silver bell with a crystal bead striker, a seven inch silver-plated knife with the hilt shaped to form a cross, a half-used roll of gray duct-tape, and a pair of old fashioned wrought iron manacles of the type used in New England in the 1860's. The items are well maintained and in working order but there is no key in the bag for the manacles.

Anyone have a weapon that takes .455 caliber? If not, we need to get one. I have a feeling that Meyers knew he needed it.

Ormando continues to drive around, and then heads in the general direction of the campsite to investigate next. If he needs to, he will pull off into a parking lot in order to look through some of the stuff himself.

The only thing I know about that is a .455 is a Webley - a British gun that hasn't been in production since WWII. Where the heck do we get one of those old top break revolvers?

He thinks a bit more. Can we put some of those symbols on some of my ammo?

GM Roll #1: 1d100 ⇒ 9
GM Roll #2: 1d100 ⇒ 1

Agent Olive interjects While my own experience with such things is limited, I understand that the symbol alone is not enough to invest any item so inscribed with power, there must be a ritual, incantation, perhaps even some kind of anointing or enchanted stylus to complete the process. She shrugs and goes back to her laptop, tapping away at the keyboard. But then again, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try, I doubt it would damage the bullet to have a bit of dried ink on it, or a bit of chicken scratch.

Finding something more in her web-surfing Olive leans forward to play a small sound bite. It seems the search has widened for the missing hikers, and WSAZ reporter Mike Blaise is live at the Charleston Police Department. Screen cuts to a man in a shirt and tie standing on the street outside in front of a police cruiser where two men are being roughly pulled from the car and towards the entrance up the walk. The men are shouting at the camera about something. Cheri, Captain David Bechert tells me the department is collecting a few known persons from Tent City, a community sponsored safe haven for the homeless along the banks of the Elk River. He tells me these men were past residents of several vagrant communities which have existed in Kanawha State Forest in recent years. The captain indicates several such residents are being detained and questioned about recent events in the forest, and in particular about where the missing hikers may have run into trouble, whether lost or perhaps afoul of more dangerous individuals who remained behind. As you know Cheri, the past several months have seen an explosion in the homeless...

If we don't know what these symbols do, I doubt we should be messing with things like that. Besides, we don't even know if they have something we'd need them for yet anyway.

I am never good at these mystery things! Which is why I made a shooter!

How do you feel about going to the police station and asking what they know? Or will there be other FBI already on the scene who will know we are not what we say we are?

Or do we go visit the campsite, and then maybe check out the cemeteries?

At this point the hikers have been missing less than 24 hours. This would be treated like any other lost persons case, and not a matter the FBI would assume jurisdiction over. That is not to say you could not volunteer to help out since you are already in the area reviewing the Missing Girl case.

Agent Olive speaks up, reviewing more news coverage of the missing hikers. It appears they have state forest rangers, a state police helicopter with an infrared camera, and area firefighters/law enforcement on the ground now. They are asking for any local K-9 Search and Rescue volunteers willing to assist to gather at the main entrance lodge for coordination.

Here is where you can communicate with players, the GM, and discuss RL matters outside the In Character posts.

I have posted a few things to the gameplay thread outlining the parameters of your current assignment and what tools were made available to your team. Before we begin posting in character on the gameplay thread I would like everyone to check in here to discuss anything before we are ready to officially start.

It will be up to the team to decide if you need to post prior to arriving at the airport. Please include on your characters which city is your home location. I will add a few NPC aliases to the Campaign tab as well as your characters once they are finalized.

Hope everyone is ready to have a little fun going mad and delaying the apocalypse.

I should mention the mission alert is received on July 14th at just past noon. You will have some time that afternoon and evening to prepare for the trip/research anything you might need before you depart.

You are booked on connecting flights such that the three of you arrive together, flying from Washington DC to maintain cover. You are booked on an American Airlines flight from Washington Reagan to Yeager arriving at 11:00 AM on the 15th. Your return flights leaves Yeager for DC at 6:30 AM on the 18th.

Hey guys, happy to start looking into the great scary unknown with you!

All looks good from here. I had a few issues getting past the recruitment only thread, but all is well now.

One question - in recruitment you had mentioned using different character sheets, and us not posting who we are (keeping SAN secret, skills and stats secret, etc).

How do we handle that?

Do you want us to put on our Alias what we don't mind people knowing?

If we do that - do you want us to PM you a "real" character sheet? How often do you want a sheet?

I am leaning toward keeping SAN secret and my backstory, but that is about it (everyone will know what kind of gear I have, and therefore know what my background is anyway).

Once I understand the mechanics you prefer of keeping the character sheets, I will fill out the info on Fendar Hig.

Yes you can post on your character page any particulars you don't care for your teammates to know, or even altar to play to any bravado or humility your character may possess. However please send me a correct character sheet updated with your background, Bonds, hometown and agency affiliation, and full equipment list.

I have posted four local/near to local assets which Delta Green has worked with previously. I will post additional support characters to the page as needed or time allows. I will try to keep around ten or so assets listed at any one time. Availability will be subject to their schedules but you may be able to work things out on a case by case basis.

You may contact them as needed to assist you during your mission, just remember this is a covert agency and it has eliminated threats to this country from Unnatural sources for nearly 100 years now. Try to avoid calling attention to your actions and using inappropriate tools for the job at hand, aka a hammer with a screw or a hand grenade while fishing...

PS - I also uploaded Alphonses Axioms for Agents on the Campaign Page, a handy list of do's and don'ts for field agents.

Ms Jones I take it will be in the adjoining room, bunking Michael and Fendar together. While the government has moved in a PC friendly climate, co-ed room assignments are still avoided whenever possible.

Was there anything special you folks needed or wanted to do before arriving in Charleston? Once the last of you has boarded the plane there is no turning back?

Fendar, you did have a bit of trouble at the airport with your gear. TSA informed you the security clearances for Agent Ormando's rifle and grenades were not transmitted with his other weapons permits by the FBI field office. The TSA will send a follow-up request to them and DC but for now have allowed you to remove them from baggage claims. You likely have the weekend before any red flags are triggered. It should be a small matter for Ms Jones or someone else with good computer skills to send a fake update to clear the matter.

Michael, Agent Oscar's personal weapons gear will arrive at the UPS main distribution center in South Charleston late afternoon on the 15th for personal pick-up. The office closes at 3 PM and will not be open on the 16th. It cost $100 to ship, I assume you placed the charge on Agent Oscar's prepaid.

Fendar didn't fly here; he drove. Deep blue Dodge Charger with IL plates.

He arrived in the Charleston WV area about 0100 hrs, catching a few hrs of shut eye at a truck stop before he drove to the hotel and checked in.

That will work, though I would recommend the Pilot Truck stop in Nitro over the TA truck stop in Teays Valley. Closer to Charleston and fewer nocturnal visitors to fend off, unless that's your thing, no judgment here. My last active DG character could not handle personal relationships due to things seen on the job so instead he had a pair of escorts he frequented on those nights he needed to work out things without actually thinking about them. You could also have theoretically driven into town and parked in the hotel's multilevel garage.

As I said I wrote this first scenario as part of a shotgun mission for a local group and am presenting it at the convention this year. I used a lot of local color to help immersion into the scenes, to make it more real should the shyte ever hit the fan.

Sorry, didn't see this kick off yesterday, catching up now.

The Need to Know book has pretty much no info on gear, I assume I can bring along whatever's relevant? i.e. A laptop (presumably a 'clean' one without any personal files on it) either tethered to a burner phone with a data connection, or it's own 'burner' SIM. Some light, concealable sidearm (neither I nor my character are gun nerd enough to know what would be appropriate). Maybe a basic electronics toolkit, plus the contents of the 'other' go bag?

As for character updates, I will be keeping my google doc up to date as a character sheet. Will post known knowledge to my profile.

A clean laptop is reasonable and could be considered appropriate for your role. The burner phone is likewise available. A sidearm is likely a necessity as an "FBI" agent so you may look for something relatively standard. The other gear would be appropriate and acceptable.

As I have not played Delta Green before - are those rolls in opposition to the net search rolls?

Another question - are we playing this like a gritty realistic (horror) story, or are we playing a bit more loose with reality (like in the show Supernatural, where their IDs are generally believed, for example)?

Sorry no, the rolls were not in opposition but on a set of chances I had built about contacting Myers and such.

As for the level of realism, Delta Green leans more to the gritty realistic "drives you insane" horror, but in general I am fairly reasonable with your ID's and motivations, if they are not blatantly abused.

Walk up and say "Hi I'm Mulder, this is Scully" and you are going to get scrutinized worse than a bull in a china shop.

"We're Agents Hall and Oates" is going to get some attention but you can probably get through the door, but only while they call the local office for confirmation.

Tell them "we're following up on the Violet Glesson (the missing girl from Myers' notes) case, but can you use a hand?" will probably earn you a peek over their shoulders, but it will still be a local matter, so little real jurisdiction at this time.

Your original docs from A Cell indicated you were from DC as part of a task force looking into abductions as part of a human trafficking case.

In the locker wrote:
* An ID packet identifying your Agent O persona as an FBI agent, on a special review assignment, investigating the case of a missing girl as part of a current international task force investigating human trafficking. The packet includes ID appropriate firearm permits, a driver’s license issued in Washington DC, and miscellaneous other non-valid identifiers and cards.

Are there things like standard "DANGER" codes for agents? What I am wondering is if it is worth taking a look at Myers window with some binoculars to see if there is a sign warning us off or anything.

I sort of assume there isn't but maybe I am not paranoid enough!

Actually in undercover or covert tradecraft there are such signs, used between agents, assets, and handlers. Those codes however are usually specific to the team, an upturned mailbox flag, the blinds pulled up vs. down, the ubiquitous white X on a park bench. Delta Green does have some standardized codes which are used universally between teams to mark safe houses, green boxes, and supply caches, but those signs are generally not something Myers would mark his apartment by.

There may however also be codes used by old timers like Myers from the days when Delta Green was a rogue cowboy group, hunted by Majestic 12, disavowed by the very country they died defending. Those agents needed a way to alert one another without giving too much away to a potential enemy. Unless you have a SIGINT skill of 40 give me either an INT or CHA roll to see if you have picked up any hints of those old codes since you recently joined the teams.

Sorry, read through yesterday and meant to come back to and update, and some time to think.

Should always just post, rather than overthink...

I am at the game convention this weekend, starting tonight. Running three games only so nothing hectic but I am not sure of the wifi connectivity there. I will make plans to check in as often as possible to keep things moving.

The con is over, sorry for the delays, back to business. Thanks for your patience.

I am heading off on a trip tomorrow early. My posting may be spotty until I return on Thursday, but I will try to get in at least one post at day (no guarantees!).

This will happen again for GenCon17 8/16 thru 8/20, but then I will be completely unhinged and out of touch.

Have we lost Agent Olive aka MsJones aka SpinningDice?

Not sure if we have lost Olive or not.

I have been holding back a bit so I don't dominate the conversation by simply posting a lot.

It would appear that we have lost both Agents Olive and Oscar at this point.

Well, that bodes poorly for continuing this game, I would say.

Bummer.

On the bright side, you have taught me the system and given me enough of a taste I want to try it face to face somewhere.

There is also an attempt at a Delta Green Living Campaign currently over on Reddit. The Link should take you to the main page.

My local pickings are scarce, everyone seems more inclined to use the Call of Cthulhu rules and pre-WW II settings, not enough interest in a more modern take on the game. Maybe you will have better luck there.

I will probably give them another couple of days before I officially call it and retire the threads. If you find yourself a game feel free to let me know how it goes. Sharing the madness is what the Mythos is all about.

SO so sorry. RL completely shafted me this week, and some of my games got backburnered.

It does appear that we have lost Ms Jones.

Sorry guys, had a small medical issue which had me AFK for a bit. I will post up something for Agent Olive's take on the room later this evening. If you wish I will continue to run Agent Olive in the interim.

Not sure what happened to SpinningDice, still posting in other forums just not responding in ours.

Just a word of warning - I am going to GenCon17 next week. I will go radio silent after Monday 8/14, and won't be back till Monday 8/21.

Sorry about that, but its the best 4 days in gaming plus 3!

Have fun at Gencon, check out the DG booth if you get the chance, they usually have a few nice giveaways planned.

Heading to work, my one Saturday a month day today. Be back on later today.

What skill should I roll to determine why the skull is damaged? Like are they chewed on by animals or humans or other damage?

Forensics if you have it, INT x 1 if you don't.

Have we lost another player?

No sorry. I'm having computer troubles. I'll post now.

Unexpected detour there to the vet, hope it was not too disruptive.

Allllmost enough to make you consider going crazy for the healing factor drugs.

Sorry for the delay guys, I had doctor's appointments yesterday to deal with my most recent bout of pneumonia. Changed up a couple of meds and I've been a bit nauseous getting used to them.

I need some help with Delta Green, as I have never played before.

We need to sanitize the old folks home. Does that mean burn it to the ground? Or something less aggressive?

The game seems very reality based (in some regards) so it isn't likely we can pose as doctors as we have already posed as FBI guys.

I think I am just having some issues with figuring out the borders of the game which is tougher in a pbp game vs. a face to face game.

By the way - I drop the bond to Dad by the amount instructed.

You guys are doing fine, you are grunt operators and just more used to having a chain of command and following standardized rules of engagement. Delta Green agents have to throw some of that out the window in order to protect the greater good, or at least stave off the mythos for one more day.

Sanitize in most ops recommends cleaning up the scene and disposing of any evidence which might point to an Unnatural event. Dump it at a prearranged Green Box or send it up the line to A CELL, depending on what it is. In this case it seems the Webley does a nice job of cleaning up the remains of infected creatures, so a muffled shot from it, through a pillow or some such item may work to clean up the biggest part of the mess which is him. After that you just need to go over the apartment, remove any bits that might say "monsters are among us," and leave the rest for the authorities and his next of kin to fret over later.

Cleaning and disinfecting your equipment is probably a safe bet, using bleach or similar hospital grade solutions should work fine. Agent Olive has been handling bone and blood samples taken from the scene, and from Oscar, without much concern beyond the normal safety protocols. Just watch over Oscar for any signs of changes, wriggling under his skin, occasionally give him a look-see through the night vision. Healthy paranoia should work just fine.

It can be a fine line to walk in how you approach a case, and how you bluff or intimidate your way past an observer. Credentials on the fly are more difficult to gather, create, or steal and seldom stand long to any scrutiny. Avoiding notice at all is the agent's best friend. When you can't, either confuse the situation as much as possible to discredit the witnesses, find appropriate evidence to hold over them, or in the worst case scenario, eliminate them. Sometimes the best option can still be a bad solution, you are weighing the cost of one life versus untold others if some secrets get out.

A CELL won't order you to kill innocents, but if the mission goes side ways they won't rat you out either. Just report the mission as accurately as you need to, as appropriately as you can, and you can deal with the fall out later. Many agents have been giving their walking papers from DG, not the best fit when the soup gets thick, some others who lost it reportedly got a .45 cal retirement plan, but a rare few others made it as far as Myers, retiring out, but in the end the mission is still the mission.

Here is a link to the shared Alphonses Axioms for Agents booklet, a handy little thing someone created for an older version of the game which points out the nature of how agents should handle the stresses of a mission, what they used to call a night at the opera.

In between missions players have the option to improve a skill, recover sanity, improve bonds, or as I think your character may want to do, research the occult and unnatural to try to get a basic understanding of what the mythos is, and what it is trying to do. Just remember there is a finer line between running a mission and becoming the mission.

Again, you guys are doing fine. The wild shots in the woods not withstanding I haven't seen anything to complain over.

And by wild shots I mean the randomizer sucking for donkey balls.

Guys - I am going to have to drop out. The posting pace is just too slow for me; plus, I think we need at least 3 players to help figure out the clues.

Thanks for introducing me to Delta Green. I have been thinking about running a home game of it.

I am sorry the pace fell off this past week, I ended up sick and out of touch with the internet. My apologies and well wishes for you to have better luck with another game.
