Kurag Urlot III
Kurag sees the others doing quite well against the other giant so continues his attacks against the blind one while he still can take advantage of it.
point blank precise rapid sneak shot 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 2 = 18 for 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 3 + (1) = 12

Getting mad at himself, Rask screams loudly "Torag, guide me hand!" and this time, he hits the giant twice.
Bormann Grimm
Thanks for botting me while I've been bogged down in other stuff
Beat up, Bormann allows the power of rage to surge through his muscles (gaining 18 hit points for the duration) and charges at the blinded giant.

BB hurls his javelin at the giant.
Javelin: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 2 - 4 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Kurag Urlot III
Not likely with the way I have been rolling...
resigned to his futile attacks Kurag half heartedly draws his bow and fires again...
point blank precise rapid sneak attack 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 for 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 3 + (5) = 16
second shot 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 for 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (5) = 9
As expected Kurag's first shot goes wide of the mark. His second is a surprise though as the arrow seems to puncture a kidney causing the giant to drop to the ground.
Moving quickly Kurag searches for his 5 arrows that missed the giants 5d100 ⇒ (54, 54, 79, 59, 23) = 269 and finds 4 of them usable.
Greta Bolkasdottir
Greta steps up behind Bormann and heals him. CSW: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 7, 2) + 6 = 17 plus 50% = 25 healing. She does it again. CSW: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1) + 6 = 16 plus 50% = 24 healing. And one more time. CSW: 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5) + 6 = 17 plus 50% = 25 healing
74 points of healing for Bormann.
"You tax Bolka's blessings quite a bit. I expect an act of love from you to help show your gratitude to Her." She chides as she lays hands upon the warrior.
BB Beetle
|
"Heh. They do say love can bloom on the battlefield!" BB laughs and retrieves his javelin, clearly misinterpreting Greta's definition of "love."
Bormann Grimm
"You tax Bolka's blessings quite a bit. I expect an act of love from you to help show your gratitude to Her." She chides as she lays hands upon the warrior.
"I appreciate your healing magic as always, Greta, but I am afraid my destiny is a path of war, not of love. Perhaps she will be pleased by a suitable gift at the next dwarven wedding I have a chance to attend?"
Kurag Urlot III
Kurag gives Bormann a friendly nudge. I think you’ve lost that loving feeling. Now it’s gone, gone, gone.. Then quietly were Greta may not hear, Perhaps she can help you get it back?
Rask Hammersong
@Kurag - groan....
"Greta, I understand Bolka's gifts and appreciate them, but a warrior needs honor and protection as well as healing. Love may come, but for now we need to clear this place and protect our people" Rask says to the group.
"Which way Kurag?" he asks.
Greta Bolkasdottir
Greta rolls her eyes. "I'm not asking for a spring wedding, Rask, just that you acknowledge the goddess' gifts through an act of intentionally increasing the amount of love in the world. Taking a blow for your brother is an act of love. Sparing an honorable enemy is an act of love. I think even you bloody-minded warriors can do that." She turns to Kurag. "My ears work quite well, Kurag. Quite well. Plus I hear what you get up to in that bedroll of yours at night. I think you've had quite enough of that loving feeling to go with."
Kurag Urlot III
Not wanting Greta to get the best of him kurag turns to her with a look of surprise then hurt. Why Greta I should think you can hear what happens in the bedroll. You are right there with me. Please don’t say you are cutting me off from your feminine charms and warmth at night. Besides, you came to me.
It looks like there is an opening to the south so Kurag heads that way not waiting fir Greta’s reaction.
BB Beetle
|
Man, courtship is weird. BB keeps his mouth shut and javelin ready.
Kurag Urlot III
Sounds good with K31
Kurag returns from his listening and lets the others know what is going on behind the doors. There is no sound coming from the south set of doors. However it sounds like something is either being tortured or trained by a whip to the southwest. If something or someone is being tortured I think we need to investigate that first.
DM RichD
Kurag gives the nod and Bormann and Rask open the door. They see that a huge iron cage fills most of this circular chamber, with several crates, chests, statues, paintings, and other art objects crammed between the cage and the walls of the room. Inside the cage, a large piece of furniture sits under a cloth drapery of some sort. Two manticores sit in the cage, their wings clipped. It looks like they have been nipping at each other. When they see you they stop their nipping.
The first manticore says, Ah! Visitors! It has been too long and since you are not an accursed giant perhaps you can free us! The second one adds, We have been held here against are will and would love to be able to spread our wings and fly far from here.

"Huh. Manticores. What special attacks can they perform in their state?"
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
"Is that all? Do you really want to get free? And this isn't a trap?"
DM RichD
@BB: You know they can fly, bite and claw and with a snap of their tails they can shoot spikes from it. They are also fierce predators always in search of fresh meat.
@BB: You feel they are sincere in wanting to be free but perhaps they might still like a taste of some fresh meat after their long captivity.
