Shel follows the others worried about the strange cube Barlor was carrying. Was it wise to remove it without knowing what effect it would have?

Haris was tapping the coffins with a crowbar, looking for loot, when Barlor does the five-finger grab of something on the pedestal and dashes for the exit,"-wah..?". He does a double take, no idea what's going on but decides best to run and run fast after the dwarf, "I'm outta here!"

I'm good, really didn't have anything to contribute inside this entire building. No worries.

Emerging from the Azlanti complex, you step into chaos. Running to the palisade wall, you find Pathfinders and camp workers trying desperately to hold off the horde of charau-ka outside the camp. Wave after wave of rocks, sticks, and even the camp’s own garbage are flying over the walls at regular intervals.

Somewhere back in the jungle, that same deafening roar echoes across at the valley. Then a large boulder flies out of the trees and smashes a hole in the palisade wall and a boiling mass of shrieking charau-ka charge the breach.

A moment later their champion, a massive 15-foot-tall, four-armed angazhani, stomps from the treeline and begins climbing the trail towards the camp.

Suddenly there is a thud as Barlor falls over, unconscious. And before you can even check the dwarf two charau-ka led by a third wearing hide armor with a tiger prowling by its side move to attack your group.

If there is a good spot to place a fireball I will go ahead and use the scroll. It is on my spell list, and I have the requisite CHA score. I believe that means no UMD check. Wizards get access to it a level earlier so 5d6 should be the output.

let's see how this spell works

I think you still need to make a level check since Peri is not high enough level to normally cast it. Because Peri is 4th she can only fail on a natural 1.

Haris looks around for any abandoned ranged weapons he can use.

{Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11}

Haris, no ranged weapons laying about yet.

The Battle for Azlant Ridge begins...

Arrows fly from the Juliet's weary guards as the Charau-Ka swarm through the breach and into the camp. Shel bravely steps forward, weapon raised defensively. Haris scrambles for a better weapon, but finds none. Down near the gate Calgredine leads the Aspis mercenaries in a charge against the breach. Yanos calls upon Old Deadeye and grows tall on the battlefield, towering over friend and foe.

From behind Yanos Peri reads a scroll, and a glowing orange bead flies towards the Charau-Ka. A ball of fire envelopes them, and though they howl in pain they burst through with smoking fur and continue their attack in a frenzy.

One swings a club at Shel, but she dodges the attack.

Another charges Yanos and Barlor, and though Yanos tries to stab it, the creature slips past the spear.

The chieftain howls, pointing at Yanos and tiger pounces on him and bites his arm. 7 Damage The chieftain then gestures towards Peri, summoning a flaming sphere of its own bouncing and rolling at the sorceress. Unable to dodge it, she suffers painful burns. 11 Damage

Barlor lays unmoving with Ing pacing the ground around him.

Rocks hurtle through the air, catching the occasional man or woman in the battle. One passes near Haris, clattering sharply against the palisade. Working together out of desperation against a common foe the Society guards and Consortium mercenaries fight at the breach, preventing more charau-ka from getting through.

Behind you the half-excavated ivory sphere begins to glow, casting light throughout the camp.

Shel circles her opponent, but cannot find an advantageous position. She stabs weakly, completely missing it.

László sends an arrow over Shel's shoulder, which lodges deeply into the creature. It howls in pain, but does not yet succumb to its wounds.

Haris tries to use his wand to heal Peri, but fails to get it to activate.

Peri tries to evade the flaming sphere and casts a spell which causes the chieftain to blink, then stand around looking bored.

Yanos tumbles back from combat and channels healing energy. He and Peri feel much better, but Barlor still remains unconscious.

The charau-ka on Shel swings its club in a flurry catching her in the arm. 7 damage

When the chieftain's tiger charges, Yanos angles his spear and impales the animal, leaving it bleeding on the ground. The other charau-ka chases Yanos, but he dodges the creature's attack.

I'm aware GM. The allure of playing a save or suck character is the gamble for me.

The battle continues along the walls. The roar of the giant angazhani draws steadily closer, urging on the charau-ka army surging at the breach.

Haris moves to Barlor and finally activates his wand, but the dwarf doesn't stir. Ing snorts at Haris as if to say "Huh?"

Shel slashes the charau-ka facing her and it staggers, but remains up. It raises its club with a wild scream, but the cry is cut short when László puts an another arrow in its throat. It drops the club to clutch at the arrow and collapses to the ground.

Peri casts another spell focused on the charau-ka fighting Yanos and it nearly drops its weapon.
