Round 3
Rogar furious that the Goblin once again eluded him, sees another of it's ilk attacking the halfling fool. Knowing his slow, but steady speed will not allow him to keep up with the mounted terror. He rushes forward, charging the White Goblin.

"Death and GLORY!"

Attack:
1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 12 swing and a miss

Cadas sees that she can close on the goblin rider and does so, moving to block his ride and enlarging at the last minute to gain more momentum into her swing.

Enlarged Trident: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 1 = 232d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1) + 3 = 9

Confirm: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 52d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 3 = 11

Die, Dog, Die - Round 3 - continued

The burly dwarf realizes he will have a hard time catching the more mobile mounted goblin and switches targets to White who is threatening his softer friends. Shouting his battle cry, he swings but the shifty goblin avoids his shield stroke and lives to fight again.

Cadas sees the mounted goblin approach and shifts into giant form at the last moment allowing her to reach him. Using the extra large trident, she skewers the rider knocking him from the saddle. The rider is dead before he hits the ground. The mount growls and snaps at the priestess, but cannot reach her so far.

End of Round 3

Nice work. I was wondering how you'd catch that mounted dude without most of your missle weapons and with most spells used up. Just the slippery White to go and we can end combat for a bit.

Die, Dog, Die - Round 4

Only one goblin remains on the field. The smoldering continues over Sandpoint, but mostly the town is quiet again. Recovering and tending to its injured and dead. The nobleman cheers loudly when giant Cadas dumps the rider but doesn't move from his location to help or evacuate.

Round 4 - Die, Dog, Die

What about the dog?

Smoke shouts in victory at the rider's toppling form and then makes haste to finish the fight.

I'm charging the dog if it's still a threat... OR... charging the goblin if it's not. AC -2 all day every day!

Attack!: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14

We'll see what happens!

Amended that prior post to include the goblin dog, which is now splattered on the grass for your viewing pleasure... Perhaps you can finish off the measly goblin too, and we can all go have a beer...

Smoke you are charging more than my wife on Black Friday. You go big fella...

She says

Goblin:
"Hello and good night"

She also shows her appreciation of traditional goblin customs by trying to hit him with her big stick of goblin welcome.

Round 4

Robin is tired of this pesky goblin harassing him. He gives the goblin a big kick! Goblin gets an AOO.

Unarmed Strike: 1d20 ⇒ 17.
Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2 nonlethal damage.

If that doesn't do it, he'll step away.

I'm telling you Robin just a well placed slap may end this thing. C'mon little man...

On Cadas' turn she will return to normal size and cast stabilize on the dog (not the goblin dog) hoping that she can revive it later.

Die, Dog, Die - Round 4

Tinuviel closes to whack the remaining goblin with her staff, but like all the rest of her attacks, it ends up woefully short. Are you sure you're using a d20? It looks an awful lot like you've just been rolling a d6

Proving that no distance on the battlefield is too great, Smoke charges over and crushes the ratty doglike thing before it has much of chance to mourn its former rider.

Finally, Robin steps forward and gives the Goblin cad a kick. The feisty goblin steps in with a knife aimed for the little guy's vitals:

Death slice: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

The desparate stroke results in the halfling taking a nasty cut across the ribs. But our hero is able to deliver the last blow; a well placed kick that collapses the foe into an unconscious heap.

End of Combat

Whew! Summary coming up in Discussion. Everyone earns 255 XP, so if you're scoring at home that's 511/1300 or about 40% to lvl 2. We are out of rounds, so feel free to interact as you like. I see Cadas post and will address una momento.

Post-combat, Cadas shrinks back down to normal size and steps over to see the wounded dog. Examining him, you see the brave beast has indeed given up the ghost in defense of his master.

The master, visibly shaken, looks at you plainitively. "It's too late for Brutus, isn't it. The poor fellow, he was such a good dog. He died saving me. He considers the dog again, but after a moment looks up at Cadas again. "But you!" he says fiercely. "You were wonderful growing all giant size and stabbing the foul rider with that big fork-thing. You simply must tell me how you do that? Do you think it's something I can learn? He looks at the priestess with an awe close to astonishment.

After closing the dogs eyes and saying a quick prayer to send the spirit of the beast on to Gozreh she stands and addresses the man. Indeed it was a brave beast animal. You should see that it gets a proper burial.

When the man complements her battle prowess she looks at the man appraisingly and explains I follow Gozreh and the ways of nature. There is a shrine to Gozreh in the new cathedral. Go there and prey to my god, giving thanks for your rescue. If your heart is true and you are diligent then yes, perhaps you could gain favor with Gozreh. If you do these things then I would be willing to teach you some of what I know.

After she once again gathers her friends and wounded townspeople together and releases the positive energy within her to heal their wounds.

Channel twice: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4

Clutching his wound in one hand, Robin picks up the goblin's own slicer and finishes the goblin himself. "One stab deserves another." He will then tuck away a clean weapon before gathering close to Cadas, and taking her healing energy. "Thanks Cadas!" He looks toward the nobleman. "Isn't she amazing, sir?" he says to the nobleman. "Strong and exotic!" Robin hopes to butter him up, as it was always good to connect with nobility, if only he could put a name to a face.

"Vell done Cleric, put a Varhammer in your hand and even Torag vould be pressed not to claim you as his own," Rogar says as he approaches the cleric and her admirer. He puts his hand on the Halfling and looks over at the Shoanti. "And you two, the Fool and the Bull, you fought vith honor. As did you Vizard."

His eyes then look down at the fallen dog and then at the well dressed human and his mirth disappears.

"In the Sky Citadels, a Noble is expected to vield a veapon as vell as his vealth, a lesson you longshanks vould do vell to learn."

The words almost came out as a spit as he glared at the cowardly noble. Disgusted by the sight of him, he walked over toward the goblins and began taking inventory of the area.

Smoke wonders for a moment if that line of conversation is one he wants to go down with Rogar right now, but shakes it off.

He listens to the sound of Sandpoint for a moment before getting an idea. "I'm going to go see about the goblins we killed earlier in the square-- they might have stolen something or have something on them we might want to give back to someone. Plus, I want to see if the rest of the town is still doing okay." It's obvious with even a little bit of insight that by 'rest of the town' he really means 'Ameiko and the rest of the town.' "I'll meet you guys back there-- Goblins are notorious scavengers, so check them and we'll see if they found anything shiny for Desna to press into our palms."

Smoke hurries off back towards the church yard, sword over his shoulder, to viciously loot the goblins he and the others had killed. Seeing their corpses, he considers cutting their ears off and branding words or names into it, like Hosk. But nothing deserves that. What separates man from animal is how they treat their dead; Smoke picks up each of the small, bloodied child-like bodies, placing them at the base of the stage. Pharasma has teachings, and he follows them. It's what his ancestors would have wanted.

Afterwards, he goes to check on Ameiko to see if they need any 'bulls' to... to see if they need any big, tough guys to lift heavy things. He spots his butterfly doll sitting pretty on a table-- giving thanks to the goddess of luck for not laughing, he picks it up and hurries away.

Let me know if any of that clashes with what might actually happen there! I just felt a scene.

Oh, and give unto me all 100 dogslicers and the 1gp.

Tinuviel wanders back to the big temple. Cadas can have the good looking man. He''s human, she's human, they'll make beautiful babies together Tinuviel thought as she kicked a small rock.

I fought in combat. I totally sucked but I tried and who gets the guy? Just because she can enlarge her boobies... Of course, everything else gets bigger as well... Seized by a fit of the giggles, Boo makes her way through the chaos in a much better mood.

Sorry, Group B. My RL obligations kept me from posting but I did read yours and was therefore able to formulate the next step of my evil plan to..what, too much?

The adreneline rush of combat has ended, leaving your bodies wounded and spent. At once, the cleansing gust of the Wind of Gozreh blows through the gate, answering the prayers of the young Shoanti priestess and leaving your bodies healed and refreshed.

Listening to Cadas, the nobleman stares at her fixedly. "I may do that very thing. My servants will attend to poor old Brutus here and I may, right this moment, pay my homage to good old Gozreh." he smiles a dazzlingly handsome smile, full of perfect white teeth. "After that's done, I really do insist you and your friends," he motions to Robin who is approaching, and the rest of the group, "meet me at the White Deer for a late dinner. I would love to hear all about you. And it's only right that I return the favor, after all you did save my life. Especially, you...eh, priestess. What is your name anyway?"

Turning to Robin he says, "She truly is amazing, little boy. I have never met her like." A far-away looks comes into his eye as he says this, but then that dazzling smile returns as the dwarf berates him just a little. "What you say is true master dwarf, and had I my rapier, I assure the outcome of this fight would've been much different, much different indeed. When that horde of goblins came over the wall there..." he indicates an old stone wall built up against the town wall a little east of the gate. "...carrying that big old box, then I'd have stood up to them myself and shown them just what a man of Magnimar is made from. But since Brutus and I were just out for our evening walk, I only had this stick, and it's of almost no use in a fight..."

Anyone listening:

Sense Motive DC 12:
This sounds an awful lot like BS to you. The cowering man you saw before seems more in line with this dude.

Robin, after dispatching the last goblin, you approach the place where the nobleman is speaking with Cadas, as he talks you notice a signet ring bearing a strange purple plant surrounded by thorns. The same sigil is also on a jeweled pin on his lapel. You have not seen this man before, nor are you familiar with the device.

After Rogar gets his invective in, he turns on his mailed boot, and begins to look over the goblins who still lie dead on the field. Following dwarven protocol, he begins to gather the arms, armor, and gear of his former enemies together. By the time he finishes, the pile contains: 3 sets of small leather armor and wooden shields, 2 small size studded leather jerkins, 3 dogslicers, 2 long horsechoppers which seems of good quality (for goblin work), 2 shortbows with 38 arrows, and 2 glass vials, each containing a shimmering blue liquid. (All goblin weapons and armor are of low to poor quality unless otherwise indicated.) In their pockets the goblins had all kinds of assorted detritus: a ball of twine, a silver whistle, a birds nest, 2 plain hairpins, and the mashed up remains of a pie. Additionally, each goblin had a totem on a string around their necks. All these fallen goblins near the gate had similar totems . (link copied to Campaign info tab).

Anyone looking at the totem:

Knowledge Arcana DC 25:
This is a representation of an old Thassilonian rune. The Sihedron Rune but scholars disagree about it's actual meaning. Some say it represents virtue, others say it has a darker meaning.

OR:

Goblin Speakers or Know Nature/Local/Dungeoneering DC 15:
This does not look like any goblin device, letter, or symbol you have ever seen before.

Rogar when you said, "take inventory" I think you meant literally. If you mean more specifically looking at other stuff, LMK

Smoke excuses himself from the scene by the gate and dashes off (his usual speed) for the churchyard again. More on that in a moment.

Fair Tinuviel who struggled in the fighting, mopes off toward the temple, kicking rocks and pouting to herself until she breaks out in a giggle of laughter, her raven cawing loudly along with her. One of the priests looks up at her strangely as she passes. Boo, tell me if you look at anything else in particular.

Sorry the other post was getting long enough I was worried about losing it.

As Smoke jogs back into the courtyard the scene is freshly appaling. Fires still burn and bodies of townspeople, most covered by a tablecloth or cassock, still litter the ground. A few guards are hoisting bodies of goblins into the back of a horse-drawn wagon. A knot of villagers stands, shell-shocked, tears streaming down their soot-covered faces.

As you quickly look for the creatures your group fought with, most still lie where they fell. Looking quickly, you see the gobliness bard lies there along with 5-6 of her soldiers.

Quickly rifling through them and then arranging them in the proper manner to honor a fallen enemy, Smoke finds: 5 small wooden shields, 6 suits of small leather armor - one studded leather, 6 dogslicers one broken off at the hilt, a small whip, a shortbow with 20 arrows, and another of the vials filled with shimmering blue liquid. Each of these goblins also has a totem, but they are various: one has a dead bird, another two have dead frogs, a couple more have strings of teeth (human teeth, maybe?). The singer has the same strange symbol Rogar found.

Know Nature/Dungeon DC 15:
These look very much more like the traditional goblin totems you have seen before, except the one with the strange symbol, which you've never seen.

There are also a few other assorted items that goblins might find interesting: a human baby doll, with a big bite out of it's face, a shredded beanbag shaped like a goblin from the Goblin Toss game with all its stuffing torn out, a thimble, a butterfly necklace and ring made from glass beads, and 2 large turkey legs.

I'll get to your Amieko interaction tomorrow, time for bed now! GN all! Sorry again for the gap today.

Cadas is more trying to make a convert than to arrange a date. Still she accepts the man's dinner invitation for herself but makes no promises for her friends.

I am Cadas of the Shoanti, Priestess of Gozreh. I have only recently come to this city so I have not had the opportunity to learn who is who and must ask your name as well. And I will gladly accept your offer of dinner, if the danger has passed and dinner at an inn is to to be had this evening. I cannot speak for my companions though. You must ask them as well.

Tinuviel looks around for something to do that's helpful and constructive, especially in and around the temple. She doesn't have Heal as a skill, but if she spots anyone injured she will help them to someone who does. She does try 'Detect Magic' from time to time.

It's really not in the Goblin nature to be so bold. Something must have pushed them into this.

no worries DrEvil, I fully intended to take inventory just as you described

Rogar pays no attention to the protestations of the noble. His opinion of the man was made by the actions during combat, not by brave words bellowed with none to challenge.

Looking over the gear, he takes note of the spoils that can be sold and the gear that should just be piled and burned along with the corpses of the deceased.

Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17. Robin doesn't mind that the man is a coward. He isn't much of a fighter either.

"Dinner sounds great, Lord... um... my Lord." Robin realizes the stranger lacks a name. "The name's Robin, and we'd all love to meet you. You should try dinner at the Rusty Dragon, though, it's delicious! It's easy to meet all of us there, since that's where we're staying." Robin is excited to make a new contact in the nobility. If the man declines the invitation to the Rusty Dragon, Robin will agree to go to the White Deer.

Afterward, Robin will join Cadas and Rogar reviewing the goblin bodies and pick out the cleanest set of goblin clothes, armor, weapon, and totem he can find. Knowledge (local) to look at the totem: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 "These clothes may come in handy later. And this totem sure isn't something you see everyday on a goblin." Robin wants to have a very convincing goblin outfit tucked away, should the need arise for him to disguise himself.

"Let's chat up the sheriff," he suggests to Cadas and Rogar. "Maybe he can tell us what's up?"

Smoke does find his stuffed butterfly doll, and while it is a bit singed on one wing, it's still pretty. He scoops it up and heads over to the pavilion at which he last saw Ameiko, before the explosion.

He hears the Sherrif there, barking orders and as he comes into the ring of torchlight, sees Ameiko, apparently none the worse for wear leaning over a prostrate figure on the ground. Approaching closer he also sees the grizzled old ranger, Daviren Hosk down on one knee, his eyes glistening, a blood soaked bandage wrapped round his head.

Examining further, he sees, to his surprise, the person they lean over is none other than the elven cleric of Gozrah, Hannah Velerin, whom he had met just the night before. She is pale and wan, and her brow is furrowed with pain. It is apparent that she lives, but she has suffered a grievous wound.

The Sherriff sees you approaching butterfly in hand. "So how goes things at Northgate? We seem to have chased the buggers off here. A few captured others fled, some jumping from the cliff at Junker's Edge. Just one thing I want to know, why? Why attack us here and why today?"

Hosk hearing this stands and speaks his voice full of invective and ire. "Wha? Wha? I'll tell ya wha! Gobbies ain't noo gut. They be connivin' theivin' little rascals and it's jus' like 'em to attack us when we leas' 'xpect em. I tell ya this and ya ken gut, trouble wooda been much worse if'n them outlanders hadn'ta stopped that fire at the church. Mighta los' the whole blasted town to 'em. Those few are right heroes. Heroes of Sandpoin'"

Ameiko smiles at this thought. "That has a nice ring to it. Heroes of Sandpoint...maybe I'll write a song about that. All good heroes have songs about them. Hmmm..." She looks up at Smoke and giggle a bit at the odd man, scratched singed, and worn carrying a stuffed butterfly. "A follower of The Dreamer, I see," she says mockingly.

The man smiles warmly as you introduce yourself and accept his invitation. "My manners escape me. Of course we are not properly introduced. I am Aldern, from the house Foxglove, and I am enchanted to make your acquaintance." He bows low and leans to kiss Cadas' hand if she offers it. He nods politely to Robin

As you ask about the box his eyes cloud a bit more. "Brutus and I were out for a stroll after the feast and the attack happened. Goblins were everywhere. Not long after the fires and screaming started, I saw a troop of them, maybe 10 or 12, carrying a long wooden box. It looked valuable and heavy. They were led by a man (at least I assume it was a man) who wored dark clothes and a hood and carried a longbow. He barked orders at them in a strange language, and they came down that ladder..." He points back at the wall. "...and ran out the gate carrying it. I was just chasing them when the ones mounted on those rats appeared...and then you saved me!"

He looks up his eyes locking onto Cadas'. "It looks safe enough to have dinner," he says. "I will meet you at your inn, The Rusty Dragon? Say in one hour's time? For now I must go check on my staff and things and freshen up a bit. Until we meet later..."
And he begins his foppish walk across the gate-yard towards the White Deer.

@Tinuviel: Your Detect Magic does not radiate any unusual auras, during your walk back towards the church and beyond. Ahead you see Smoke loping through the yard, carrying a slightly charred blue butterfly headed back towars the pavilion at which you feasted earlier in the day.

As you stroll, you notice a few of the townspeople, whisper behind their hands and one stops and makes a deep bow sweeping off his cap to honor you.

Smoke pats the butterfly a few times, taking the singe off of it.

At the insistence that he's a 'hero' from Hosk, Smoke humbles. "Got a nice ring to it but we would've done what anyone else would have." He turns to the sheriff. "Caught a man up there and a host of goblins on his trail. We took care of them, but couldn't save his dog. They saw the goblins takin' something over the fence-- I'd ask Cadas, Rogar and the others about it, since..." his attention is caught by Tinuviel walking by, but he continues. "Since they stuck around to hear the whole account and make sure they're alright."

He listens to Ameiko for a second and feels a bit embarassed. "Well, I'd say that Desna's smiling right now. She sends a few 'heroes' like this down here at the right place at the right time... That's got to be worth a bit of piety." He tosses the butterfly to Ameiko. "Here-- a souvenir."

Gesturing to Hannah, he asks "Does she need a healer? I could go fetch Cadas right now if we want."

Tinuviel approaches Smoke, the Sherriff, Daviren Hosk, and Ameiko enough to hear most of the conversation.

The Sherriff hears the barbarians words about the goblins carrying something off and says:"Your friends still by Northgate? I'll go talk to 'em. Good work, lad. Good work, Miss. Yer heroes to this town no question."

Amieko accepts the stuffed gift with an ironic smile. "You call it Desna, it could just be coincidence or luck. Either way, I - we, are all glad you're here. You saved our cathedral and our town. Come down to the Dragon and I'll buy you all dinner. Nothing's too good for the Heroes of Sandpoint!"

As you discuss the wound to Hannah, Hosk says:"The gud Father has bin 'ere a'ready. Poor dear Hannah is restin' as comfortable as she can. He grunts at the refuse these goblins called gear and piles the junk next to the corpses. If the town folk wanted to rummage through it for something rudimentary to help fend off a future Goblin attack, they could have it. Though he does pocket the vials.

Hearing Cada's exclamation, Rogar frowns and shakes his head in agreement.

"I have a feeling you are right Holy Voman," he responds. He turns to Robin "C'mon fool, there vill be time to kiss the nobles later."

Robin sorts through the pile of equipment Rogar has created, looking for a good goblin outfit. But then the Rogar and Cadas start to leave. "Just a second!" he says, snatching up some leather armor, clothing, and a totem into his backpack. He then tucks a dogslicer into his belt before catching up and falling in step with the little dwarf and big woman. "To the sheriff!"

It appears that you are leaving the goblin salvage on the field except for a few tokens, the vials, and Robin's few items. Correct? I haven't seen Smoke post anything about gathering any of the other items so far either.

Rogar rummages through the goblin weapons and armor and finds nothing of value or even that can be used to scrap something decent together. He feels these items are likely worthless in trade. He takes the 2 vials of blue liquid.

Robin thinking ahead, grabs a possible disguuise of studdeed leather, clothing, the strange totem, and a dogslicer. Adding a little weight to his frame he sets off after Cadas and Rogar who have gone in search of the Sherriff.

Oddly, the Sherrif is also in search of them, and you run into each other about half way up the street between the church and the gate. It is most of your first look at Sandpoint's sherriff. Hemlock is a large Shoanti man, but his hair is shaved in Chelian fashion and his face and exposed skin is unmarked by tattoo. He wears chain armor with the town crest and carrries a big sword. His skin is dark, but his eyes are light and have an intelligent gleam to them. (link to picture on Campaign Tab).

Dourly, he says to Cadas in Shoanti:

Shoanti:
"Hail Honored Sister, it is rare to see a priestess of the People here. Rarer still to see one with the Wandering Mark. You must tell me this tale when we meet under different circumstances."

Changing back to Common:"Some are already calling you Heroes of Sandopoint. I have no reason to dispute that now, but much remains to be seen."

"Your large friend said you had some information about the goblin attackers to share with me? Sorry to be short, but get to the telling and be quick about it, there is plenty for me to do this night..."

Sense Motive DC 12:
Despite his gruff manner, you feel the Sherriff has respect for you. You also sense that he his very broken up about the damage to his town, which he was responsible for protecting and some of his grumpiness is projected.

Cadas sees the large Shoanti man approaching from a distance. Her pace quickens and she responds to his greeting. She is pleased she has found her quarry but her tone is more business like that friendly. It is possible that the priestess disapproves of her people moving in and living with the invaders of her lands, but if so, she is trying not to show it.

Shoanti:

Hail Lost Brother. There is still room for you among the grass lands and on the step if you tire of this life in the city. I see you have earned a position of respect here and are needed by the city dwellers. I too have come to offer my help to them; sent by my sisters as a crow to caw warning of the coming storm. This, she indicates the destruction around them. is but early breakers of a sea looming to crash upon an unready shore. The people have seen it.

Responding to the man's request in common she answers In time we may earn that mantel. Much remains to be done before we feast heros, I think. What we have learned is that a man lead this goblin attack. Most of the goblins provided distraction for this man and his team of goblins to slip in, secure a large box or chest, and slip back out of the city. One of your nobles, Aldern of house Foxglove saw this and told us of it. This seemed important enough to bring to you. And some of the goblins carry this sigal. She shows him the rune. Do you know what was in that box or where it came from?

Taking 10 on Sense motive for a 17, also, if I use italics, I'm speaking in Dwarvish for that phrase, but using a word so common, anyone with a passing familiarity to Dwarves would understand.

"The vord hero comes as easy to you longshanks as exhaling," Rogar gruffly responds. "In the Sky Citadels, this vould have been handled by the children vith little fanfare. Such is the vay of the the People of Stone."

Rogar then stops his lecture before he hits full swing as he comes to the realization that some of the humans may have lost children in the raid.

"Vhat of your guard," Rogar said changing the subject. "How did they fare? Are the ready for a second assault if it comes? Vhat can I do to help you prepare to drive the green skins back into the deep?"

The sherriff nods his understanding at Cadas' words in their native tongue. His eyebrows raise when you mention a man leading the attack and the idea of a diversion. "The motive behind the attack is a mystery. Your words have the ring of rightness behind them. Why else would the unorganized goblins assault us now; they have been in the area since the town's founding, but have never been so bold. We must find who this leader is..."

Regarding the totem you found: "My men found similar tokens on other goblins bodies, but also these," he pulls from a belt pouch a number of other totems: a string of teeth, an old moldy pinecone, a dead baby bird, and another similar rune. "I know not what they mean, but I know one who may. I will send word to Shalelu and see if she can explain the meaning behind these items to us."

Knowledge Local DC 15:
Perhaps on the road, or in the markets, you have heard rumor of this Shalelu Androsana, an elven ranger who helps keep law in the outlands surrounding Sandpoint. You have not met her, but the stories of her goblin fighting are quite impressive. (Think Robin Hood type legends).

Regarding Foxglove: "This nobleman you mention is unknown to me, unless it the family from out at old Foxglove Manor past the Moors, but I didn't know any were still around? Curious...I will ask to speak with him."

Regarding what the goblins took: "As for the box they were carrying, I will have the priests search the Cathedral for what may be missing. However, there is still much to do to aid the wounded and ensure against Master Dwarf's second wave. The investigation will likely have to wait until the morrow. The Guard is weak at best of times, and spread thin tonight. Your words lead me to believe the goblin raid may have captured their prize and will not be back, but one never knows...Your assistance would be most welcome, Master Dwarf, but perhaps in the morning, get some rest first and then show us how to build defenses worthy of the name."

As you finish your discussion: "With your permission, I would like to call on you in the morning to discuss this matter further. Where are your lodgings and I will buy your breakfast."

Shoanti:
Honored Sister, I am glad the omens and the words of The People have brought you here. I am afraid that the Recent Troubles of this town are only the beginning, and your presence confirms that. Just because I am of the city now, doesn't mean I have forgotten the signs. My heart is in the grass, but my duty is here now. I am sure that is confusing for you; it still is for me as well and my family has not understood. I would like to count on you, and your mates, as friends and allies through this. Agreed?

I would meet this Shalelu when she comes. If you could arrange this I would be grateful.

Come to an early dinner with us tonight at the Rusty Dragon and you can meet this Foxglove. If he is true he will be buying us dinner there in an hour. I know you are busy, but you must eat, and why not kill two birds with the same throw, yes? And its the Dragon we are staying at as well.

Regarding the box. Your priorities are you own, and likely correct for you and the town. But I'll not wait on learning more about this box. Unless you mind I'll try to run this down before dinner. If I am successful I can fill you in at the Rusty Dragon. either tonight, or in the morning.

Now where are Daviren Hosk and Hannah Velerin? I would tell them also of the human leader of the goblins and the looting of the Cathedral.

Shoanti response:

We have chosen different paths, but you are still my brother. Serve well in your chosen profession and gain honor in the face of the gods, but do not forget who you are. I am here to serve, and am yours until this danger has passed, or some greater danger pulls me away.

"Dinner? Maybe in a minute." He spies the others speaking to the Sheriff and turns to greet Tinuviel-- but she's already fluttered off in the breeze towards the others. "Not to brush you off but I think I might be able to help. Just one second..."

Smoke takes the vial out of his pocket. Gulping, but too brave now not to help, he dabs a finger into it and tastes the mixture.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Trying to ID it with Perception-- works just like Spellcraft.

I think I got it. Here's hoping it's a healing potion.

If it is what I think it is...:

Smoke kneels down next to Hannah and smiles. "Here. This is mine; it should make you feel better."

If she or Hosk protests, he shakes his head. "Sorry; I can't watch someone suffer. They might be back, or Desna might decide to laugh and they could spend all night doing something else. I can't just go on my merry way. We kind of owe you one," he says to Hosk, speaking about him and Cadas.

"You may investigate more if you wish, within the bounds of the law. Something tells me I couldn't stop you if I wanted to, but I have other pressing business first, including a report to the Mayor who is waiting on me now. I must decline your offer of dinner, but will meet you after sunrise at the Dragon and discuss what we have uncovered."

"I left Davy Hosk and poor Hannah near the food pavilions. The elf had taken a greivous wound and was declining healing until the rest of town was seen too. Typical, if she was a little less stubborn, perhaps she coulda been helping with the recovery. Her wounds did not appear fatal, but Pharasma may have other plans."

"No offense, but, I must make haste. Until tomorrow then!"

The man walks upright and erect, towards the town hall.

Smoke tries the blue liquid hopefully and to his relief finds the slow soothing feeling of a healing potion, starts tingling his tongue and the ticklish warmth rises to his head and limbs. The sweet taste like mint.

Encouraged, he bends to pour the potion for the wounded elf priestess. The lady raises her hand to protest but her speech is soft and her resistance waning. She finally allows you to give her the dose. Instantly, her color improves, and the light in her eyes returns.

She smiles a sweet 'thank you' and nods swiftly to sleep. Hosk pats the lad on the shoulder and says softly:"Now there's a lad! Gud and well dun, boyo! Nun o' us could git the lady ta take a healin' but you fixed 'er right up, eh? Ya have my thanks, an' the whole town's too."

You see the Sherriff is finishing his conversation with the others, and Ameiko's now empty cart, is ready to head down to the Dragon.

"No problem," he said, sheepish. He was glad Hosk hadn't asked where he'd found it-- if he heard it was a goblin potion, perhaps his tune would've changed.

He stood up and dusted himself off.

Taking a few steps away, he was suddenly keenly aware that he had never put his sword away. He looked at his reflection in the blade, the grim skull on the hilt, and nodded. Using a bracer to wipe it clean, he sheathed it on his back and hopped up onto the cart alongside Ameiko.

The fatigue really set in, now. He slumped in his seat, tired, and ran a hand through his hair to try to wake himself up. Fighting had taken a bit of a beating on him, and despite his wounds being soothed, he still felt them when he moved.

What had they been looking for? Why had the Goblins come here?

It didn't matter, right now-- right now, he was tired.

I'm really hoping this isn't an Ameiko drawn cart-- Smoke's hopping in if it drives places, but if it's being pulled, he'd offer to pull it instead.

Cadas wants to find Daviren Hosk and Daviren Velerin first and fill them in on the man and the thieft and then go and find Father Zantus to make sure he knows the story and see if he can confirm that something has been taken.

When she finds Daviren and sees that Daviren still lays wounded she will take a moment to gather all the wounded she can together and channel for her 5th time today, healing as many people as possible.

Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 1 - not great. Oh well.

Telling Host about the man organizing the goblins, her theory about a diversion, etc, and the theft she asks what he thinks about it.

And after all that she goes to find the good father.

Robin will hitch a ride on the cart. "Don't wait too long, Cadas, or you'll let down Foxglove!"

If Bethany and Morris aren't around, Robin will ask Ameiko: "Glad to see you're safe, Ameiko. Are Bethany and Morris okay?" Robin has a particular concern for his fellow halflings, as he feels the big ones forget about them.

The cart is drawn by a draft horse from the Goblin Squash Stables which managed to survive the goblin onslaught. Lars mans the reins with his one good hand expertly and Ameiko turns from the buckboard to visit with you.

Daviren Hosk's wound is minor compared to the now-recovering Hannah, but he is grateful for Cadas' healing ministries. Hannah is beginning to stir around applying poultices and natural healing remedies to the wounds of others, though you can still see her wince with pain from time to time.

As you explain your theory about the goblin attack to Hosk, he frowns:"Bin huntin' gobbies most o' my life, an' never seen 'em attack a settlement in force this a'way. Sumthin's shore has 'em a'stirred an' that's no doubt. Stealin' ain't past gobbies, but don' know what they'd want wit sumthin' from the church. That's a mite odd. Soun's to me like yer on the rig' track. Lemme know if'n you need any 'ssistance or some fine horses, eh?" He turns to help Hannah up from where she was kneeling near a wounded townsman.

Ameiko turns to the group (i think that's Smoke, Robin and Boo, not sure if Rogar is with them or not) and says: "I believe Bethany and Morris are safe. The goblins apparently didn't attack in low town and they remaind at the Dragon to keep an eye on things there, thankfully. We shall see when we get down there. Personally, I can't wait for a bath and a good meal. A fight may generate good stories, but it's hungry, tiring work." She casts a wink at the barbarian man, who after running all over the field, finally is worn down.
