RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:

"Witton went under with the beast. Why a green watchman would attack such a thing is beyond me. I had it handled. Now, if one of you wants to throw your life away to try to save him, be my guest. I don't fancy a dip in the bay with this armor on. If that thing comes back up, get the f%~+ out of its way. Your job is to protect the people, not kill it. I will kill it if it comes back up. If it doesn't run away, anyway. I got a good slash on it."

Garrick breathes out, and takes in the scene and the expressions on the watchmens' faces.

"Bottom line, this thing is a hunter, not a demon, I think. It is a predator, but a wounded one. I think if I don't manage to kill it, it will run away, but it will kill anyone unlucky enough to be caught out in the open. Catch my meaning?"

The docks:
"Yes, sir!" the two Watchmen bark, looking uneasily at the water where their friend went down, and then each other.

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:

"Look, if one or both of you is some kind of expert swimmer, by all means go get him. I am not. And I wouldn't tell you to do something I wouldn't do myself."

Male Halfling Shaman 1

Demon's Dream:
"Where are you?" Watches-Shadow-Behind-You says as he searches for Shadow.

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

The Garrison:

"#3 has the right of it. 'Twas a might conflagration, Miss Kendra! Knocked me head over heels! " Daxur chuckles, remembering the event fondly.

"Curious though, the three armed mutant took something from Master Vindor. But he denies knowing what or that it happened at all. " he says, looking pointedly at the dripping man.

The Garrison:
"I'm sure if Master Vindor knew what was taken, he would inform us if it was important," Kendra says, nodding poignantly at Master Vindor. "But what is this about a three-armed goblin? Is that even possible?"

Crunch:
Ven Bluff check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 vs. Engineer #3's Sense motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2, Daxur's Sense motive: 1d20 ⇒ 6, Khravos's Sense motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 and Kendra's Sense motive: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23.

The docks:
The two Watchmen shake their heads at Garrick rain streaming into their eyes. Suddenly one points at the water, "Look, sir!"

It's hard to tell, but something appears to be coming towards the surface from where the Rhagodessa went under.

Garrick ooc:
What do you do? You see something rising to the surface from the depths.

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
Garrick moves over towards where they are pointing, trying to position himself such that he can't be reached by the beast to pull him in, but will be ready with blade in hand to strike the beast when it lands.

Garrick:
A roil of bubbles ascend from the water as a large something approaches the surface.

Suddenly a hand bursts out of the water, grabbing onto the rope that Garrick tied down.

Heaving himself up, sputtering and coughing, the Watchman Witton gasps for air as the seawater churns around him. He clings desperately to the rope, and his head dips back under the water.

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
"Get me another rope, NOW! Tie a loop in it!" Garrick yells to the dry watchmen. He looks over the edge to judge how far down the man's hand is. He will grab any other loose rope he can and lower it, if such is available.

Garrick:
You kneel down, arm outstretched, but his hand is just a little too far. One of the Watchmen drops a rope at your feet, yelling over the rain. "I found one! Is he alive?!"

Garrick ooc:
The rope is tied into a loop. What do you do with it?

Crunch:
Garricl Strength check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 vs. DC 17

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
Garrick grabs the rope, lowering the loop end down to the man in the water. "get the loop around your body!" He shouts down, and throws the non-loop end to the standing watchmen and prepares to pull once the loop is around the man.

Garrick:
Witton's hand comes up through the loop, and he trys to grab it, but misses. The loop floats on the waves, as they buoy it up and down. Lightning flashes in the distance, and when Garrick vision clears, the loop has sunk.

Suddenly, the rope goes taught. Something heavy is on the end of it. Thunder booms.

Heaving, Garrick and the two Watchmen pull, dragging the rope across the edge of the dock. When the loop finally appears, it is not Witton in it...it is the limp body of the Rhagodessa.

Witton has a hold of the rope around the great creature, his head appearing with a loud gasp.

"I got 'im!"

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
"Good work. . . dead?"

Garrick:
Witton sputters and coughs as you help him onto the dock, the body of the Rhagodessa floating next to him. "I...I don't think so. Could be, though."

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
"Well, you get up here and we will wait around to see if it is dead. Nothing a long pike can't solve. Or a handful of crossbows."

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

The Garrison:

"Very possible, Miss Kendra. Improbable, yes, but as we three saw with our own eyes, very very real. Now then, it would take some doing of course and a willing, if unhinged, individual willing to undergo the probably painful transformation.....but, yes....possible." Daxur says, heroically stopping himself from launching into a full on lecuture on the transformagorical possibilities of the arcan sciences.

Sorry, got a bit busy there :)

Male Human

Docks:

Satinder steps up to Watches-Shadow-Behind-You and grips his shoulder firmly.
"What are you looking for, You?"

Male Halfling Shaman 1

Demon's Dream:
"Enlightenment from the spirits. I expect it will be coming any time now."

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior (Pathwalker)/1 HP: 30/30 RHP: 5/30 Power Points: 4/5

The Garrison:
"More than possible, my lady. That foul odor I apologize for is the reek he left on me after he struck me down. I thought it unusual, but could not be sure that wasn't normal for this region of the world. I have not been here before, and have come to expect life to appear in a wide and unpredictable variety. He had three arms and each held a weapon. He fought like a demon. And I will need some time to recover once you have heard all you need from us."

Likewise.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Garrison:
"You do look worse for the wear. I'm so sorry. We'll send for some assistance." She nods to Master Vinder. "They were helping to escort the delivery for the Festival?"

"They were, m'lady Deverin." Ven replies, ducking his head.

"Ven, please, it's Kendra, as I've said. I'm not the Mayor. The formality is unnecessary."

He nods, obviously uncomfortable with the idea. "These three fought a grip of goblins. There was the three-armed one, as they say. He were riding a pony. Said he's kill all of us."

The Demon's dream:
You move deeper into the hold, the smell of rain in the atmosphere mixed with the myriad smells in the ship. There is another smell that wasn't here before, though.

Smoke.

Male Halfling Shaman 1

Demon's Dream:
"Smoke," Watches-Shadow-Behind-You sniffs.

He moves toward the source of the smell.

Male Human

Demon's Dream:
Satinder sniffs at the air, nodding.
"I smell it, too. That can't be good. We should alert the crew, see if we can get a fire brigade on standby."

He pauses, eyeing the halfling.

"Are you saying you knew there would be smoke before we smelled it?"

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior (Pathwalker)/1 HP: 30/30 RHP: 5/30 Power Points: 4/5

The Garrison:
Khravos interjects, "The three-armed goblin also mentioned that 'she' told him not to kill us. It was unclear who that referred to. I think at least one of the goblins was female, but didn't seem to me to be in charge. But I do not know their ways, and could be mistaken."

The Garrison:
Kendra looks concerned. "She? She who?"

Male Halfling Shaman 1

Demon's Dream:
Watches-Shadow-Behind-You flashes a bright toothy smile at Satinder before continuing to search for the source of the smoke.

The Garrison:
Khravos shrugs. "He did not explain. A female of some species influential enough to stay a goblin's appetite for slaughter." Catching himself, he looks to Daxur. "Apologies, friend. I mean... wild goblins." Adding reflectively, "I think."

Male Human

The Demon's Dream:

Satinder gapes after the Halfling for a moment before following.

"Wait! Where are you going? If the ship is on fire, we need to get help!"

Male Halfling Shaman 1

Demon's Dream:

"No, you need to get the help,," Watches-Shadow-Behind-You says reassuringly. "If I do not find the fire first, the help will only find embers."

The Demon's dream:
With a crack, the deck beneath you lurches a little. Ahead, in the dimness, heat and light suddenly flare up. The boat moans as you notice smoke begin to billow across the ceiling, and out the center hold into the evening storm.

Satinder:
You remember that the heating stove that was in the back of the hold, near the Rhagodessa's cage, was knocked over, and likely started the fire. The deck just lurched because a section of the floor likely gave way, falling into the lower hold.

Crunch:
Watches-Shadow-Behind-You's Intelligence check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14, and Satinder's Intelligence check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24.

The Garrison:
Ven interjects as Khravos muses about goblins. "What should we do about the wagon, m'lady?"

She nods at the four of you, her lips pursed. She breaks out in a huge smile. "We should celebrate."

The docks:
Witton climbs up as several more Watchmen jog up to the scene, followed by Sheriff Avertin. His normal surly expression is helped by the rain splashing off his pate, and dripping from his short white beard.

"Master ir'Kraal. Thank you for helping. What the bloody hell happened?"

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
"Well, Sheriff, the boat over there had this creature in it," Garrick says, pointing to the rhagodessa, "And it escaped. We managed to grievously wound it and push it into the water to put it at a disadvantage. Its body is still captive and I am not sure it is dead. Some crossbow bolts or spears sticking out of it would be mighty reassuring." he hints, looking to some of the watchmen just running up.

"Satinder went to check on the boat once more, following a halfling friend of mine. Which reminds me, some watchmen should go check on the boat as well to see what is taking Satinder so long. Men were ordered to quarantine the area to minimize civilian casualties."

The docks:
One of the Watchmen chuckles, slapping Witton on the shoulders. "Khyber's luck, Witton. You killed the beast." The others agree, nodding and chuckling at the blushing boy.

"Get me something to put this...thing...into, Gert. If it's alive, it needs to be bound. Quick now." One of the Watchmen, who was starting to 'hip hip' at Witton, stops and ducks his head at the Sheriff. "Yes sir, Sheriff."

"It was on that ship?" the Sheriff asks, pointing at the Demon's dream as Gert leaves. "Who owns it?"

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
i forget. the japanese name guy?

Garrick ooc:
Yes. Lord Kaijitsu.

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

The Garrison:

Daxur waves off Khavros' apology, "No worry. I consider my distant cousins as you would a baboon or monkey. I don't mind their example, it just illustrates my own abilities that much better." he says with an impish grin.

Said grin widens at Kendra's mention of a celebration, "Do tell, Miss Kendra, do tell."

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
"It belongs to Lord Kaijitsu, though I am currently under the assumption that the creature was not part of his planned shipment. Investigation is ongoing.

Male Halfling Shaman 1

Demon's Dream:

Watches-Shadow-Behind-You goes towards the source of the fire. He chants a spell while shaking his walking stick and a miniature raincloud appears, dropping water on top of it.
Cast Create Water

The Demon's dream:
As Watches-Shadow-Behind-You rounds the final crates, he sees part of the flooring and wall on fire. The wreckage of the Rhagodessa's crate lies scattered about, and smoke billows through a hole in the flooring large enough to fit a man into. The crackling of the wood as it burns battles against the thrashing of the rain from outside, and the combination is deafening.

The cloud dumps water onto the flames around the hole, putting most of them out before it vanishes. Steam billows up as the flames are extinguished; however, smoke continues to pour from the hole below decks. A hellish glow tints the smoke, accompanied by a roar of flames from below.

Male Human

The Demon's Dream:

"Now, hold on," Satinder says as he follows Watches-Shadow-Behind-You through the crates, "dammit, would you just--"

He stops abruptly, his eyes widening at the site of the burning deck. As Watches-Shadow-Behind-You's conjured cloud douses the immediate flames, he tentatively steps beyond the halfling to peer into the hole.

"This . . . this is bad." He turns back to look at Watches-Shadow-Behind-You, worry creeping into his voice. "The stove, the one that got knocked over when that--that thing attacked. It must have burned straight through the floor. There's no telling how far the fire's already spread below-decks."

Watches-Shadow-Behind-You & Satinder ooc:
Please give me a Reflex save, both of you. And please hold any action until I respond to the saves. :)

Male Human

The Demon's Dream OOC:

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Does . . . does that mean something bad is about to happen?
It does, doesn't it?

Male Halfling Shaman 1

Demon's Dream:

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

The docks:
The Sheriff barks at the Watchmen again. "See if you can pull that thing onto the dock." He scans the wreckage of the two dropped pallets. "So the creature came from the boat? What happened with these two cranes?"

The Garrison:
Kendra beams at you. "You survived!" She chuckles. "You were attacked by goblins, and survived. That deserves a celebration. Tonight, my house. You deserve a feast."

RHP 36 / HP 36

docks:
"The first one was an event we were investigating. The second was on purpose to defeat the creature. Several men were sheared in pieces to even get it to that point."

The docks:
"On purpose? Someone destroyed half the docks - on purpose?"

"I appreciate and thank you for the gesture of welcome. My compatriots may enjoy the food and beverage at your feast. I will attend and participate in the revels, as well."
