The links with the other characters look good. Daxur and #3 and Khavros on the road to Sandpoint. Hmmm, if #3 is the tinman...who is Dorothy, or the cowardly lion :D

Mittean:

I'm keeping Daxur's fascination with Xendrik ruins/artifacts. Can I assume that having exhausted his Master's notes for the area around Cauldron, he jumped at the chance to travel to Sandpoint, an area rich with ruins, mysteries etc ? And of course, his pride is stroked by the importance of the job.

Again apologies for the delay on the profile, it's all I can do to type this in, soooo sleepy :) ....working fulltime job and a second contract on the side, both have important deadlines at the end of the week.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Hahahaha. That's a brilliant reference. :)

That's all good Daxur. :)

RHP 36 / HP 36

I took the Unreactive flaw, -4 to initiative, but I don't see it on that document. But I see a great number of other drawbacks from the same source on there. Was that an oversight, or an intentional omission?

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

I'd need to look, but unreactive is fine, if you want it. As a flaw, it will give you an extra feat. :)

RHP 36 / HP 36

Yeah, i took it so i could get a 3rd feat to start. So i am starting with:

Feats Furious Focus[APG], Power Attack, Steadfast Personality[ACG]

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Don't take Power attack; I give everyone as an option in combat. You want to Power attack? Go ahead, lol.

I like the other two.
So pick another feat instead. :)

RHP 36 / HP 36

Oh shoot i forgot.

Hmmm i'll have to look at it later.

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior (Pathwalker)/1 HP: 30/30 RHP: 5/30 Power Points: 4/5

None of the flaws really speak to me. I don't need the extra feat. I'm happy with what I have. Still have to pick a bonus campaign trait yet.

I made a chart. My relationships are:
Traveling companions with Daxur and Engineer 3 on road to Sandpoint.
Mutual interest in Engineer 3 pertaining to Psionics and dreams.
Fascinated by person-ness of Engineer 3.

No connection yet to Garrick, Satinder, or Watches-Shadows.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Yeah, Khravos, I'm not sure that we have connections to those three yet for you. Satinder and Garrick know each other, and work in Sandpoint. Watches-Shadow-Behind-You is on his way to Sandpoint, I believe. Daxur will be working with Satinder and Garrick, so you'll definitely meet up. :)

No flaws works. Any drawbacks?

I don't think I need mechanical buyoffs for drawbacks. I'm awkward, somewhat naive, and I have an alien sharing my brain. Those are pretty disadvantageous much of the time. :)

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Hahahaha. That works.

Alright I see that Khravos, Garrick, Satinder, Three and Watches-Shadow-Behind-You have their bases up. Just waiting on Daxur on the first level build.

No flaws or drawbacks for Khravos, although you are almost done linking your page to everything, so THANK YOU, lol. You get a bonus feat for that.

Flaws are done for Garrick (any drawbacks?)

Any Flaws or Drawbacks for Watches-Shadow-Behind-You?

Three, you should have five traits (two plus two for the drawbacks plus one for page formatting) and four feats (with two flaws), so looks like you are missing one trait. :)

Satinder, please put up a spoiler for your description and one for your background on your page, and that'll cover that fifth trait.

Does everyone have at least one of their traits as a campaign trait (not necessarily RotRL)? I haven't looked for that specifically...

RHP 36 / HP 36

No drawbacks on Garrick, though I might re-explore that.

Gotta replace Power Attack, I will probably throw on another basic feat on there this weekend.

My campaign trait doesn't show on herolab, just says -custom trait-, but i took Outlander for a +2 Init bonus.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Alright, sweet, just replace it on the page, if you would. :)

Once we get all of you with your basics up, and background and description and whatever else spoiler-ed, we'll address saving throws and HP's. :)

After that, we'll look at Sins, AC, Initiative, languages, journals and XP, known NPCs and character death.

All of these things are pretty simple changes, and don't affect game-play.

I had a question for everyone to vote on: One of my friends, a DM that I am a huge fan of chose to actually write out the "prequel" scene for everyone, to place them where he wanted them, and then have them "step into" their characters. It allowed a sort of summary of their behaviors, ideas and events, as it were. I've debated doing that here, and wanted to get your opinions. Should I write your opening "scenes", for you to step into, or do you guys want to, and I'll try to...um...get you to where I want? Lol.

Male Halfling Shaman 1

If they are short, then it is fine. I feel some of them examples linked to were too long. After a couple paragraphs, it starts to interfere with a player's vision for his or her character.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Yeah, it wouldn't be anything that long, lol. It's more...what scene I put you in. I know NH had talked with his players prior to, and they had built a lot of them together.

It wouldn't be more than about two paragraphs.

Watches-Shadow-Behind-You, how do you want to handle Shadow? Is he with you always? Do you take him into combat? How do you intend to utilize him? Or her?

RHP 36 / HP 36

Its fine with me

Male Human Commoner/12

Information/background added, but I thought you said we got a campaign trait as a bonus trait, so we had two regular traits, a campaign trait, and two traits from drawbacks if we take them. Did I misunderstand?

Male Human Commoner/12

I also sent you some questions in email that weren't answered, so I'll go ahead and post them here.

Character Sheet/House Rule questions:
1. How are we doing bonus languages? 2. Are we using 4e style save bonuses? 3. Why do we have Defense, Touch, and FF on the template? Defense and Touch should be the same thing, shouldn't they? They're both 10+stuff that isn't armor.

Male Kalashtar Psychic Warrior (Pathwalker)/1 HP: 30/30 RHP: 5/30 Power Points: 4/5

I thought I was done but I just realized that whatever I picked for my Maneuvers didn't get added to the sheet. Gotta see if I wrote them down anywhere else.

ETA: Think I got it now.

RE: Origin & Placement, I'm OK with it, just to get us into the right places.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

You did not misunderstand, Satinder. I saw five traits on yours, though...so we must not be communicating somehow, lol.

And in answer to your questions: My way, yes, and oops. Lol.

Okay, so three for me placing you, if they are short. Good. :)

Spoiler:

He is always around me. His modus operandi is to always be stealthy and hidden. If he can't do that in my same square, he goes to nearest place that can.

He is my spirit guide so primarily I will be asking his advice on spiritual matters. I may ask him if he feels we can trust somebody using his Sense Motive check. He is good at perceiving things so I'll roll perception checks for him. Occasionally, he can use his stealthiness to scout. He can also use survival to track and find his own food. In an emergency, he has enough ranks in heal to stop somebody from bleeding out.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here are the relationships I graphed. I notice few going to Shadow.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

That is brilliant, Chris. Lol. And looks very similar to one I have on my desk, you sneaky spy. ;)

(Just for the record, Chris and I live across the country from each other and have never met, lol.)

I do want to find more connections, or interests with people for Watches-Shadow-Behind-You. I do figure he will have...em...acceptance, I suppose, of Satinder's (unknown to the party *ahem*) psychic abilities. He also will likely get on with Satinder's mother, as they are both tribal, even though they are from different cultures.

He may be curious about Daxur being so...civilized, and Khravos for being a Kalashtar. Three for being...well material. Spirits something, mumbo jumbo tribal shake a frog bladder stuff, lol. ;)

What do all of you think? Watches-Shadow-Behind-You?

Three? Khravos? Daxur? Satinder? Has anyone else ever been to the Talenta Plains?

Watches-Shadow-Behind-You:
As a spirit animal, is he physical? Or...a spirit guide? It would almost be interesting if he was something only you saw...also makes combat a bit easier, and makes your character a bit creepy, lol.

Perhaps he does appear, but only when you want him, or he wants you? I see that in the class description, it appears the animal is real.

That'd be intriguing if he were 'spiritual' and not seen...perhaps a character who came to respect somethings you do, or seem things the way you do would see it...

Just thoughts. :)

I picture your character as being a bit...Maori. A bit Aboriginal.

Actually!! Thought! Does your character have a lot to do with dreams? Culturally speaking? I know I wanted to give you visions through your spirit animal, but if you hold dreams to be of special import, that will tie you to two of the characters. :)

excellent work

K. Got Daxur finished in Hero Lab. I'll re-gig his profile to your template tomorrow, Mittean.

As for the Talenta questions, I'll let Daxur answer:

"Talenta? Oh, yes! Quite stirring actually. Travelled there with my Master, on the lightning train! Amazing way to travel! The plains? Well, they were plain. Oh, hahahaha! Excuse me, please. No, as I said before, the were very primal, wild. It was only to consult with an old friend that we'd travelled so far, and to procure some fresh kavaa weed...a notorious weakness of my esteemed Master. "

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Haha. Brilliant. Now...how can we connect that to Watches-Shadow-Behind-You?

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Actually, let's do this:

Everyone, I would like you to make up some NPC's that you are tied to. People in Sandpoint, people in Sharn; people we might bump into at some point, that you already know.

So it is possible that Daxur met someone in the Talenta Plains, that Watches-Shadow-Behind-You also knows. (You two could design the person together.)

It just needs to be a paragraph. A blurb. No stats or classes, unless you feel like it. They are likely to all be NPC classes, anyway.

These people should ideally be someone who knows a secret about you, or is someone who you would sacrifice for, or have romantic interests in, or owe money to, or someone who holds you accountable for something they think you did. They can be a 'nemesis', as well.

Each player please make your ChaMod +1 in NPC's, minimum 1. You can make more.

These should not be Ameiko and others...these are separate.

You other guys and girls can also "combine" NPCs as well.

Also, please make one additional "character". This will be the person who, if your character dies, will take their place. Something as simple as "Mikull, the half-Orc Slayer was born in what is now Darguun, and was a POW of the dwarves for three years and suffers PTSD. He lives just outside of Sandpoint."

Perhaps, Daxur's master's friend was a halfling elder, sitting on a bluff way out on the plains, a little furry-footed guru.

Watches-Shadow could have at the time been an attendant or supplicant to the guru who witnessed the strange sight of a human wizard and his goblin apprentice granted an immediate audience with his esteemed elder.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

So Garrick 3 NPCs and 1 replacement character.

Three 1 NPC and 1 character.

Daxur 1 NPC and 1 character.

Satinder 1 NPC and 1 character.

Khravos 1 NPC and 1 character.

Watches-Shadow-Behind-You 4 NPCs and 1character

Man you are a charismatic bunch, lmao.

Male Warforged Shaper 1 / AC 11 T11 FF 10; DR 3/- HP 38; PP 14; F+3 R+4 W+3
Spoiler:
38/38 Current HP, 14/14 Current PP

Engineer #3 was third in a very short line of Warforged creation forge workers fabricated just before the fall of Cyre and the subsequent Treaty of Thronehold ending the Last War.

Engineer Models #1, 2, and 4 are still outstanding, presumably. Those last few days and weeks were very chaotic and it was during a ride out of Cyre with his assigned Cannith Magewright that #3 became separated from his colleagues/siblings.

Other than casual acquaintances and his adventuring companions, the only other real connection was with Tara "Fingers" ir'Cannith , a young human Cannith Magewright with whom he traveled and worked. She was reassigned to Sharn upon her "forced emigration" from Cyre, but they have kept in touch via letters fairly regularly.

Replacement Character: A pure muscle melee tank named Steve. Possibly a full-orc barbarian or ranger, possibly a wolf-riding cavalier.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Perfect Three. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Please put that in a spoiler on your pages. :D

RHP 36 / HP 36

hmm, regarding replacement PCs, I tend to try to see what we need as a party when making a replacement, or where we are in the world, etc.

Eesh, making NPCs is kinda hard for me, i will see what i can come up with. luckily my CHA mod is only +2, not +3 :D

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Lol. No worries, if it's difficult, I'm sure some of the others could "chip in" an NPC.

I'm just trying to avoid the "you died. A random dude shows up, and is now invested, just like all the originals!"

Hate that, lol.

Male Human Commoner/12

Well, I already have my mom for my NPC, and I'll give a short description of Aemon as my replacement.

Aemon Grahame:

Aemon Grahame is a dark-skinned man in his late 40s. He adventured when he was younger, but he returned from his last expedition in his 20s harrowed and ruined. He was a drunk for years before his father's death motivated him to use the last of his funds to attend an academy and become educated. He retired to Sandpoint with his library and some knick-knacks, working as a scribe and occasionally selling things from his shop. He became Satinder's mentor shortly after Satinder and his mother arrived in Sandpoint, and they have remained close since.

And if I can double up on Aemon's purpose, I think it's perfectly reasonable that he may have had adventures on the Talenta Plains in his youth, and may very well have encountered Watches-Shadow-Behind-You, perhaps as a guide.

Male Human Commoner/12

Also, if anybody wants to link their flaws . . .

Male Goblin Wizard 1 HP:17 /17 AC:16 F+4 R+6 W +5 Perception:+3

K , here's Daxur's new improved profile.

Still mulling flaws...

will get links put in a bit later...

Also mulling NPC ideas as well as replacement PC idea.

His mother could have been ill and asked for a shaman instead of a cleric or city healer.

Daxur: How about an archaeologist? She could have been studying the halfling tribes. I'm thinking of a bard with the archaeologist archetype.

Yes, the RAW says they are outsiders but physical. Do you want make him ethereal? I don't think I would mind.

Sure, Australian aborigines have a concept non-Aborigines call "dreamtime" (it's actual a mistranslation of "infinite" but heh). I think having prophetic dreams would not be unusual for him, but dreams in general I don't see as something special to the character.

Male Halfling Shaman 1

I have updated my profile to your format.

RHP 36 / HP 36

I chose Cornugon Smash to fill the void left by the power attack that i took and didn't need to take. It lets me make a free action intimidate on people i hit with my power attack, to demoralize them.

Garrick ir'Kraal NPCs:

Grenthis, former soldier under Garrick's command. He blames Garrick for all that happened at Shadukar and is looking to make him pay. He wouldn't attack Garrick while Garrick still held active duty rank, but if he heard that Garrick was no longer active, he might try to pursue him and make him pay.

Jayik, local militia commander. He takes care of those that work in the Sandpoint militia full-time, handling their day-to-day administrative needs and liaising with the Mayor and Garrick to ensure that the militia gets what it needs and protects Sandpoint adequately.

Goergo, Sandpoint quartermaster. A man of many talents, he repairs and creates armor and weapons, and with the help of his assistant manages orders made by the militia. Though he and his staff are well-equipped with a fairly large forge and warehouse, occasionally he has had to subcontract orders out to other, smaller smithies.

Garrick ir'Kraal alternate PCs:

Janos d'Lyrandar, half-elf dragonmarked artificer and bearer of the Mark of Storm. He isn't yet a captain, but aspires to be such. So far, he has served on an elemental galleon as a third officer and then as a second officer, then he moved to be a third officer on an airship. The house moves him as they need him, but he is definitely favored in house so they moved him from one ship to another to make him a more well-rounded officer, and promotions are coming up.

Vardis (B-Z #18), a warrior who served in the war as a frontline soldier. After a rough battle where he distinguished himself by pulling all but one man of his squad from certain death, he was selected for a special program run by the office of B-Z (Breland-Zilargo) relations. These individuals, after given special surgery requiring elemental parts, were used in special operations as directed by the crown. Further distinguishing himself in this service, when the war ended he was set to an "active reserve" status, meaning that he was free to do as he wished and given a meager stipend to assist with living costs, but was to be recalled if conflict arose again. From time to time in the past few years, though war has not arisen again, he has been asked to come back unofficially for projects. He obliges, and as these are outside of his standard contract he is rewarded for them, typically with more implants, which help him make his money as an adventurer when he has to live off of his stipend. The organization prefers to reward its subject-patients with implants as a means of experimentation, and occasionally will send researchers out to find them and document their progress.

RHP 36 / HP 36

doing my profile links now. what feats did you mean us to choose from for doing so? Story feats? free choice? some other list?

EDIT: links done, in a spoiler at the top of the profile for ease of access. Let me know if you want any other specifics linked.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Brilliant, Watches-Shadow-Behind-You! Thank you!

Garrick, absolutely perfect. And Cornugon Smash is a great feat, lol. Nice. I think that BeeZee would've made my finalist list...lmao.

Free choice on bonus feat for links. :) Story feats would be great, but not requisite. :)

yeah as i wrote B-Z out, i was like dang i wanna play this too now.

However, he requires a higher level than Garrick, haha. The elemental grafts are ridiculously expensive for what they do. And i wrote it with the Elemental Scion prestige class in mind.

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Alright.

For everyone who has created the NPC's so far, great job! Please put them in an NPC spoiler on your page. If anyone wants to tie their NPC's together (perhaps Jayik owes Aemon some money, or something, whatever), you can do so at any time to help me flesh out the world.

Also, when role-playing, you can bring them into a scene anytime it feels logical or natural. If the party has been looking for information, and you roll well enough to succeed, you can get the bit you need from them, if you want. You can write it yourself, or have me do it, either way.

I'll take a look at where we are later today, and update my "checklist".

Male Human Film producer 3 Film director 2 Real estate investor 1

Garrick, and everyone else, don't forget to list your weapon and armor proficiency under feats. :)
