Garrick, I had a thought...
I was reading over your sheet again, and happened upon Vardis. He was distinguished for pulling out his entire squad from certain death, but one man.
What if that one man is Garrick? Creates an interesting conflict if (and when) we meet Vardis. Creates a nice secret he keeps from his friends; that he's presumed dead. Creates potential conflicts with other soldiers and commanders who may discover this, and wonder why. Was it criminal? Is he wanted? If he is alive, will they expect things of him? Is it considered cowardice, and treason?

For an alternate character, I'm thinking of a Xendrik-ian half-orc Druid (Saurial Shaman). Or a Changeling Bard,Rogue, or Slayer. Which would be better?
ETA: I don't want to step on anyone's toes in the Alt department. I'm thinking of holding off to see if I die while there is a critical party role that needs filling.
mittean
Khravos, don't worry about filling roles or stepping on toes. If we find, if/when the situation of going to a replacement character happens, that the one you come up with doesn't work, or really isn't the one you want, it's no worries. :)
The replacement characters will be introduced at some point, and the party will interact with them. It's mostly about having someone you guys know join you if a comrade falls.
mittean
Satinder, for your HP -
HP 32 RHP 32
0 to -2 disabled, -3 to -32 unconscious
Destiny points:1 Hero points 1d6+5.
Add your languages (normal).
I think you did the saving throws, correct?
aaaand...I think that's it for you.
Let me know when you've updated. :)
Everyone, add a line for your homeland, please.
mittean
Watches-Shadow-Behind-You, I'm missing something on the ability scores. As I understand it, halflings get +2 Cha, +2 Dex, -2 Str, and with those applied the current cost for you looks to be about 30, rather than 25.
Aside from that, as soon as you update the other stuff I posted...I think you're done. I'll double check once you've updated.
So at the moment, I have Khravos and Three done, and Satinder and Watches-Shadow-Behind-You done assuming updates. I think I'm just waiting on a Garrick and Daxur update as well.
Once you guys finish updating, and I quickly double check it...then we should...be...ready...to...go!
Garrick ir'Kraal
Yeah, i'll be able to edit my stuff late tomorrow night or saturday AM.
mittean
Alright, thanks Garrick.
Okay, for this Sunday's (yesterday) question of the week, I would like you guys to write a simple memory.
This only needs to be a paragraph or two.
"When Alena was fifteen, her brother, Kiefer, was killed by goblins during a raid on her village. She insisted on taking up a sword and joining the militia that was going to fight the goblins, over her parents objections. Many of her towns-fellows died fighting, but they prevailed. This experience left Alena tenacious and coldly desensitized to death.”
“During Kiryl’s apprenticeship to the wizard Borya, Kiryl would often take shortcuts and cut corners out of laziness. The wizard preferred to use pain and fire to discipline his students. Kiryl never gained a work ethic, but he did get much better at making excuses and trying to talk his way out of trouble. This experience left Kiryl with scarred hands from the many burns he received and the quick wit of a creative liar.”
“When Mara was little, she became deathly ill with a terrible fever. Her father entertained her with stories of great heroes and noble deeds, partly to distract her from the illness and partly to distract himself from the fear of losing her. Eventually, the fever passed, but it left scars in her mind. This experience left Mara with a very poor memory and occasional migraine headaches due to brain damage from the high fever, but a strong relationship with her father and a starry-eyed, romantic view of the adventuring life.”
The memory should start with when it happened, and end with the effect it had on your character (often describing skills, traits, feats, beliefs, or personal flaws you have. Things that can be RP's, like mistrust, a romantic-world view, a tenacity in life, or whatever).
Memories are easier to role-play than back story...they don't lock you in to specific events in the past, per se, but they give you an emotion you can apply to many events in the future.
I have an event from each of you I would like to hear.

I am considering setting up a fb page for us. That way, when someone posts, they can let the group know there...that way you get a notification, since Paizo doesn't do that.
But if Garrick is waiting for a response to a question he directed at Daxur, rather than checking back in the foreseeable future, when Daxur replies, he can post on fb, and Garrick will get the message, and be able to respond within an hour or so. Much much quicker.
From a Storyteller's perspective, this allows me to know when the last person in a round has posted, and get something up much, much quicker, which allows everyone else to go, since they wait on me.
What are your guys thoughts?
Engineer #3
Engineer answered Fingers, the slight human magewright, "My first experience with other warforged unlike myself was at the lightning rail depot in Metrol. A contingent of soldier warforged escorted a Cyran general, whose name I never learned. At one point I spoke with them, and tried to learn of their history. They bore well-worn armor and weapons, and their carapace plating itself showed clear signs of battle damage."
The warforged paused before continuing, "These soldiers showed little interest in anything beyond the immediate situation. None of them bore any skill beyond combat training, nor did they show any curiosity. They remained confident other skills or abilities were unnecessary for their role. I felt...sad."

THAT was perfect, Three. Thank you. Put that in a spoiler on your page, and give yourself 100 XP. Also, you've completed your character, so you get another 100 XP, for 200 XP total.
Khravos, you also gain 100 XP for the relationship chart you made, 100 XP for completing your character, and 50 XP for being the first character sheet fully done and linked, for 250 XP total.
Our campaign info tab is rounding out nicely. This will change and morph over time. I have character creation guidelines up there, just for reference, as well as a few links to things like flaws, the relationship chart, the Eberron Pathfinder document, and what the XP of the party is, as well as ways to earn XP outside of combat. I also use it for quick notes for myself on occasion.

I could join that, but only if it were a secret group. I don't advertise my hobbies on facebook.
however, were i to post to the game during work i would not also post to facebook, as facebook eats up a lot more of my mobile data than web browsing simple pages like my campaigns tab and various games.
Daxur
Facebook's a no-go for me, I don't use it.
On the face of it, having to go to a second application for communication sort of defeats the purpose of these boards.
We can use the local IM feature for communication between characters.
Memory and NPC's coming....
mittean
I meant more for notification, less for communication. That way I don't have to check in a dozen times a day, I get a message saying "Satinder posted", and I address it. The IM feature doesn't notify me (to my knowledge) although I wish it would, lol.
I do plan on using a Facebook page to store pictures referenced here, as well.
When will Daxur be fully updated? Looking at the AC, the Saves, the negative HP (bleeding out), speed, etc.
Also, update the values on your tagline (the gray line on your post avatar.)
And I'm still confused at the numbers from the skills...can you walk me through them, real quick?

We're using Active Defence, so AC is +5 ?
Touch is +5, Flat Footed +1 ?You said earlier my saves were ok.
Speed: Not sure what you expect here : Spd 30 ft/x# (# squares)
Disabled, etc: again not sure what to enter :
0 to -# disabled; -# to -# unconscious
Stabilize #%
Here's the break down on skills from hero lab, i think you were asking about the knowledge skills mainly and stealth
Knowledge(arcana) + 9 : +1 rank +3 class +4 Int +1 Trait (Scholar of the ancients)
Knowledge(Dungeon) + 9 : +1 rank +3 class +4 Int +1 Trait (eldritch Delver)
Knowledge(History) + 9 : +1 rank +3 class +4 Int +1 Trait (eldritch delver)
Knowledge(Local) + 8 : +1 rank +3 class +4 Int
Stealth +12 : 0 ranks +4 DEX +4 Size(small) +4 racial
I'll get my memory and NPCs done up tomorrow.
Links will get done eventually :)
mittean
The speed is normal. So 30 ft/x4 (I think, unless small is different), and 6 squares.
The saves are fine, I just noticed the Fortitude is #. I think it was +0? I don't recall.
You can get rid of the stabilize line.
0 is disabled (normal); -1 to -10 works for now.
Thank you on the skills. :)
And yes, Defense is active, so you've got it correct.
No rush on the links, when you get them, you'll get your free feat. :)
Great job with the tagline.

Khravos Vortensis
Khravos had spent most of the day wandering through the city, and was on his way out of the teeming metropolis, having seen many strange sights for the first time in his life. His calm center set him apart, and made him an impassive observer in this world of turmoil.
In a merchant stall near the gate on the northern edge of the city, he spotted a scuffle. A whim made him investigate. A merchant was beating a human child, Khravos could not discern boy or girl through the rags it wore. Stepping closer, Khravos stopped the merchant's arm in its path to deliver a stinging blow to the child's shoulders. Astonished, the merchant turned to face Khravos. "What do you want?" He shouted in Khravos's face.
"I think whatever lesson you seek to impart, the child has learned," Khravos responded evenly. The child flinched away from the interrupted blow, slipping out of sight and back into the moving throng of people.
The merchant glared at Khravos. "You let that thief get away! I'll have you arrested for robbery!"
"It cannot be robbery if I pay for what was taken, can it?" Khravos smiled at the simple solution. The merchant grabbed Khravos by the arm before he could withdraw the coins.
"The hells it won't! GUARD!" Khravos was astonished that the merchant was pushing the issue past its obvious solution. He felt his blood race. Getting arrested in the first city he passed through on his way out of the monastery would send him home in shame. His muscles started to shake.
"I said... I'd pay!" He reversed the hold the merchant had on him, and twisted the fat arm back, sending the merchant to his knees. The merchant only increased his howls and calls for help. Khravos used his free hand to slip coins from his pouch onto the merchant's table. "The cost is paid!" As the shaking took over his body, he heard the cracking of the merchant's wrist. The cries for help became screams of pain and Khravos pushed the man back. He reached down and covered his mouth, causing the cries to become whimpers. His free hand pummeled the man until the whimpers stopped entirely. Khravos felt a horrible shaking in his body and ran, seeing nothing but a haze as he fled out the gates of the city, running far along the road and into the hills. He felt his body shuddering in odd uncontrollable ways, and when he finally stopped, it was with horror and revulsion that he was able to identify what caused the shuddering tremors.
Khravos was laughing.

We are on slow progression for XP, btw.
I am planning on starting this before the end of the weekend. So keep your eyes peeled. :)
If you are ready, please post here that you are. I've noticed some of you have become very scarce in posting, not answering questions I pose to you. I want to make sure everyone is actually ready to go, otherwise the rest of us will start, and have a silent scarecrow standing next to us. :)
mittean
Okay, I just went over everyone again. There are still some things that need addressing, that haven't been. I am going to create a checklist on the Campaign info page, and I'll just keep pestering until they get resolved. ;)
With those done (mostly), I am ready to go. Post up that you are, and as soon as I have acknowledgement from several of you, we'll jump in. :)
Garrick ir'Kraal
Garrick, great idea on the link to the spell-casting letters...I love that. :)
thanks, sometimes i post from mobile so i need all the help i can get.
as for my memory, which i believe is all you need from me, i am forming the idea in my head. after work as i do other things (mostly drink and paint) i kinda think on what the memory will be and refine/change things here and there.
mittean
Seriously. You have me curious on the painting. :)
My daughter paints. She is 9, and special needs, and has a remarkable talent for it. This one is called Tinkerbeel trapped in a tree.
Yes, the memory, and there are some very minor adjustments I have listed on the campaign page.
Garrick ir'Kraal
re: painting im on day three, though day 1 was just undercoat.
it is acrylic, and i am not so good (as Bob Ross) to do the whole thing wet so i let each layer dry and come back the next day. so, though it is going to take me a week or more, it wouldn't be as good as someone who is a pro and took a week, haha
if the FB group were secret i would join it and share the pic to it, but i am not going to upload it to imgur just to link it, kinda a pain

Tinkerbeel trapped in a tree.
pretty good, especially for a 9yo haha i dont even remember what kind of stuff i was making at 9
mittean
Yeah, she has cortical visual impairment (she has 20/20 vision, but has to be taught what everything she looks at is; a red bike and a drawing of a red bike are not similar to her). Think the Matrix. It's all nonsense until someone explains what you're looking at. (Ask her what the picture of a mountain is your pointing at and she'll tell you a cute baby. Tell her it's a mountain, and she forever remembers: that's a mountain.)
