The GM hit me up and asked me to adjust. I'm now a 0HD dragon, with 1 level of Sorcerer. I will still be heading towards Arcane Trickster. If that's not a class made for a Pseudodragon, then I don't know what is.
Zinnath the Scary |
Kyrie, you've got the blaster design space cleared, and probably the bard has controller.
With my new world outlook of the Arcane trickster, I will hammer down on the rogue's design space. I won't be remotely good at it until second level when I will take my first level of rogue though.
So, with that, Imma rethink my spell selections...

With my archetype, I'm really more of a single-target damage-dealer and party buffer. I can be sure to keep my eye on key control spells, but with even fewer spells/day than a baseline Bard my capacity for it will be limited.
DM Jesse Heinig |
My own damn fault for skimming while reading.
Making gameplay thread now.
DM Jesse Heinig |
ToEE typically goes to level 8. If everything goes very well and everyone has a great time and it's not too much work we might continue after this adventure to the Slave Lords, which then goes up to... 13 or so.
DM Jesse Heinig |
Enoby, you'll need to decide whether you are disguised, or whether you went to one of the local leaders and told them your sob story. If the former, you'll just be introduced as a traveling storyteller who may be useful in gathering information. If the latter, you'll be introduced as a former agent of an evil group, who has had a change of heart and may be able to explain certain things that are going on.
Enoby Illith'vir |
I think Enoby would have gone to the town leaders, not necessarily expecting them to feel sympathy for a drow, but betting they'd be willing to offer her someplace safe to hole up in town in exchange for potentially vital information. However, the town at large isn't necessarily aware of who she is: whenever she needs to go out, she'd likely wear her cloak with the hood pulled mostly over her face and in situations where necessary resort to casting Disguise Self.
DM Jesse Heinig |
Ok. Jaroo would take your story seriously and also be willing to give a drow some slack. (The church of St. Cuthbert is less forgiving.) Up to you whether you are under a magical disguise in the starting meeting. Write your intro appropriately. ;)
Zinnath the Scary |
"I have found that humans can be really stupid, you should do what I do. Sometimes, when I want to move around without being recognized in the town, I will use my powerful magic and change the color of my scales to something other than white, and all of the townspeople think I am some completely different small dragon. Then they ignore me, or act annoyed at my presence. It doesn't fool their hatchlings though, they see right through the disguise, I suspect young humans have some innate form of true seeing that they lose as they grow older."
Zinnath the Scary |
So yesterday I was considering Zinnath's spell selection, and considered that if he was to be the sneaky scout that perhaps message would be a good spell to take. But then I remembered that Zinnath is a mighty dragon with telepathy, which is somewhat superior to message.
Zinnath the Scary |
Ohhhh, the Accomplished Sneak Attacker feat will save me an extra level! So with Sorc 4/Rogue 1 I can move to Arcane Trickster!

Sounds good! I'll have my introduction pose up momentarily. I also filled in my background (It's a little rough, as I'm at work, but I feel lit gets the gist of her character arc across). If you think it needs some work, or if any part of it doesn't gel with the narrative, please let me know and I will adjust accordingly.
Also, if there is some relevant clut and/or Temple related info I should know from the get-go, perhaps you can PM it to me?
Kyrie, the Remorseless |
And when you totes forget to dot the gameplay thread, that can interfere too. ^_^
Zinnath, of note, For some of my telepathic characters, sometimes it's needed to provide clarification regarding telepathic communication. So I got in the habit of adding a preface to who is getting the communiqué. It makes for a little extra work, but it lets you have aside conversation in a room full of people, so it tends to work out. Like, say:
[to all:]'Greetings everyone, I'm a terrible and powerful wizard but I'm never judgmental at all."
[to Zinnath:]'Ugh. Can you believe what she's wearing? At this time of the year? Someone must not get out much.'
Or somesuch. Jus' sayin'. IMHO. YMMV. =)
DM Jesse Heinig |
Yeah, I had a guest and some activities that kept me super-busy this weekend. ;)
Deko Dekoson |
"Awww, little dragon no like Deko! Waaaaa!"
Honestly, be glad he doesn't call everything snack like his father did. True story, the original Deko called everything snack. For instance, Zinnath would be "scaley snack", and Kyrie would be "pretty snack" or something like that.
Enoby Illith'vir |
DM, what is the length and breadth of my knowledge of the cult? Do I know what they call themselves? Do I know the Temple's precise location? Do I know any of their goals or specific operations?
DM Jesse Heinig |
Deko Dekoson |
I figured, "why grill the folks in the tavern there's a turn-cloak right here!"
"Deko not grill people in tavern! Grilled people not sell well..."
Zinnath the Scary |
Hey GM, so Zinnath hasn't purchased any "gear." Like none.
I mean, why would he have 10' poles, steel pots, and other weird adventuring stuff, right?
But the prospect of adventuring has him thinking that he needs... Pockets! I mean, if he finds stuff, where will he carry it?
Any chance there's some leather worker in town that came make him a dragon sized harness thing with pouches and pockets? Maybe with a bandolier for rods and wands, or some such thing?
How do big dragons handle this problem?
DM Jesse Heinig |
Big dragons keep all their stuff in caves. They generally don't need weapons, armor, etc. because they have such things built in.
If a dragon really needs stuff carried around, usually it gets minions.
You could get a custom-made harness or bandolier.
Zinnath the Scary |
I don't need armor or weapons either, although I did consider armor. It would take a feat, and being tiny, it would lose half its AC bonus, so no thanks. It will have to be magic rings, amulets, and bracers for me!
However, as to that harness/bandolier! How much?
As for minions... I'm off to a good start, 2 humans, an Orc, an ogre, and a drow!
Since I've been nominated to be the rogue, I'll eventually need MW thieves tools, but we're not gonna call them that, haha. At last until I am using Ranged Legerdemain.
DM Jesse Heinig |
It will take a day or two for special orders, of course.
Bataleigha Silvercrest |
Just in case someone decides to start talking to the wainwright before I post again, Bataleigha would use her Touch of Glory power to aid the speaker.
Touch of Glory (Sp): You can cause your hand to shimmer with divine radiance, allowing you to touch a creature as a standard action and give it a bonus equal to your cleric level (+1 currently) on a single Charisma-based skill check or Charisma ability check. This ability lasts for 1 hour or until the creature touched elects to apply the bonus to a roll. You can use this ability to grant the bonus a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Zinnath the Scary |
So that all of our group can hear, but no one else: "Deko, I suspect that your powers of observation might be more useful in this situation than your considerable word-making skills. It would be especially useful if rather than using your tongue in this, and future similar situations, that instead you could keep your eyes and ears open. With that said when it comes time to intimidate them, rather than to speak nicely to them, your words might become useful, especially when combined with those of a scary dragon like me!"
I figured, I have a +7 Diplomacy, I should be able to roleplay it inside the party too.
Fezzik Faststrike |
Fezzik looks at the little dragon and shrugs his shoulders. "I follow Burne, can follow his pet too," he says with a smile.
Having seen Zinnath at the tower with Burne but never interacting with the dragon, I think it's reasonable for Fezzik to think it was his pet.
DM Jesse Heinig |
On the road -- trip from NorCal to SoCal -- so access is a bit spotty at the moment. Will still try to check in once a day, should be back in stride on Monday.
Deko Dekoson |

Just letting you all know, tomorrow I have a job interview for a second job, and if I get it my times to post will be lowered.
Enoby Illith'vir |
Deko nodded his head as he opened the door. "Deko lead way! Deko know town like back of hand!" Looking at the back of his hand, he exclaimed, "What this mark on Deko's hand? Deko not see it before!" Too busy looking at his hand, Deko once more walked into a stationary object, this time a light pole.
I am having a phenomenally awful day, but this made me laugh out loud. You could even call it a proper bellow. So thank you for that.
Deko Dekoson |
That's one of the things I love about Deko, he's a loveable idiot who can make people laugh. I'm glad I could brighten up your day.
Enoby Illith'vir |
Hey folks! Sorry to disappear, we're doing a pretty big personnel reorganization at work and I kind of just fell into that tornado. Could'a sworn a posted a heads-up, but apparently I'm a deadbeat. :P
