Yeah, wish I had force or acid bombs right now...

Swarm from Hell Round 1

Init: Nalar, Swarm, Braelex, Relan, Andel, Vuloo

Nalar casts heroismm on Braelex

Swarm gets to go again on Round 1 prior to Braelex's movement since it has a higher Init bonus

Vuloo and Braelex again: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 4, 1) = 19 + both fort saves as above; Dex Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Braelex moves out and launches bombs (assuming she isn't nauseated ... potential dex damage won't matter given the heroism bonus above)

The sheer power of Braelex's bombs sears through the hellish creature's natural resistance causing significant damage, although the little wasps take a bit longer to burn. She annihilates about 75% of the swarm. (I added in the heroism damage bonus as well)

At Relan, Vuloo and Andel

M Human Level 10 Fighter (Lore Warden) HP 117/121 AC 27 (30 Expertise) (+15 Perception; +4 Init; Fort +12, Ref +11, Will 7+4 vs fear) +2 vs transmutation and necromancy)

Relan pulls and throws a vial of acid and then steps back 5'.

Range Touch: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 291d6 ⇒ 3 So 4 acid damage.

Spells:5/5, 2/5; 3/4 BP 14/14

Vuloo is nauseated this round.

Andel uses his naturalist ability to recite the weaknesses of the swarm to the group, providing everyone a +2 insight bonus to AC and on attack rolls and saving throws.

Vuloo is nauseated, not stunned, and can take a move action. I will go ahead and assume Vuloo moves back as far as he can.

Relan chucks an acid vial which is more effective per drop then Braelex's bombs but with much less of it being thrown about. He melts a small pocket of wasps near the ground.

Andel recites hellwasp weaknesses.

The swarm moves forward enveloping Braelex, Nalar, and the sweetalker.

Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4) = 7 + 2x Fort Saves as above; Dex Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Hasari Fort Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19; success!

Taking another step back Relan pulls and throws a second vial of acid at a square of the swarm not occupied by a friend. Spread out. he recommends.

Range Touch: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 231d6 ⇒ 3 So 4 acid damage again.

Between Vuloo's radiance and Relan's acid, you're able to disperse the swarm into a few remaining hellwasps that fly aimlessly about, acting like normal insects.

END COMBAT!

Vuloo nods absently to Relan, "Yes, I'm fine."

He then searches the woman and the halfling for any weapons, magic or anything of value.

No response from Nalar, but I'll assume he controls the sweetalker

As Vuloo moves to search the woman and halfling, she initially balks, but a quick order from Nalar and she becomes compliant.

You find the following on the woman:

  • magical bracers
  • magical elixir
  • 150gp

    On the halfling you discover:

  • Several annotated volumes of Thassilonian lore, with tabs and bookmarks conveniently placed for information that might pertain to Kaer Maga’s Undercity. On the inside front cover in flowery script is written, The property of Perotus, scholar and adventurer.
These books grant a +2 circumstance bonus on any Knowledge (history) check related to Kaer Maga, Karzoug, or the Dark Forest. Weighs 10lbs and may be valuable to the right buyers

    The Testing Chamber

The floor of this large chamber is covered with sand and littered with weapons and pieces of armor. Halfway up the eastern wall is a small balcony with a railing and a single ornate chair, like a box seat at a theater. A small, empty metal cage hangs by a chain from the ceiling, just a few feet below the twenty-foot-high ceiling.

    Perception DC20:
You spy an unmarred crossbow and several bolts admist the litter and sand

    Cylinder

This chamber is a squat cylinder with perfectly smooth walls, ceilings, and floors. In the center rises a stepped dais like a five-foot-high ziggurat, with a flat platform on its top. Standing at the top of the platform is a grotesquely fat green-haired gnome with long eyebrows and beard. He appears to be engaged in some sort of discussion with a pair of quivering masses of of eyes, mouths, and formless flesh staring in all directions, with countless maws yammering ceaselessly.

    Knowledge Dungeoneering DC20:
The creatures are gibbering mouthers, an aberration of unknown origin with bizarre semi-ooze like qualities

Inbetween the two is a quivering brain mass with two writhing tentacles reaching out from it.

    Knowledge Dungeoneering DC22 (separate roll):
This creature is a brain ooze, a sentient ooze that feeds on the thoughts of other sentient creatures, normally by manipulating lesser beings into doing its bidding

When you enter, the gnome sees you and raises his arms to the ceiling, "Glorious day, more subjects to witness the divine righteousness of Luonim the Vast. Be seated and witness the dawning of a new world as I create it in my own image!"

Relan doesn't spy any traps doors but he notices an odd 1-inch wide gap between the dais and the floor.

The World According to Vast Round 1

Init: Nalar, Brain Ooze, Relan, Braelex, Vuloo, Andel, Hasari, Mouthers, Luonim

Relan moves up and near the brain ooze to take a swipe at it. As he does, so he hears a massive buzzing in his head that just gets worse as he gets closer. His blade hits the ooze and parts through the brain. It throws some goopy gray material to the ground as he finishes his swipe, ad the buzzing intensifies its discord in time with the hit. Relan hears words under the buzzing. (Make a DC19 Will Save or be dazed for the next 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds)

    Aklo:

Braelex fires and strikes the ooze, causing it to stagger in flight for a moment

Vuloo casts his spell as Andel chants the weaknesses.
