I'm a strong believer in death being important. I tend to believe that most people are happy to move on with their afterlife after they have passed on. Only truly exceptional and/or bizarre (See PCs) individuals would want to put off their earned afterlife to return to their mortal shell.
Should a PC die, assuming they can find an appropriate spellcaster that can cast Raise Dead, they can return to life for the normal sum but things are rarely that simple. The vast majority of the time there will be additional complications.
These could include:
*Some malevolent spirit piggybacking on the PC's returning soul - possessing him from time to time until it can be exorcised and destroyed.
*A soul of greater potential being harvested by the forces of the cosmos in an effort to balance the scales and the victim spirit haunting the newly risen's dreams.
I kinda like that bit about death, but I've never had a character die (knock on wood!) so I suppose it'll be a matter of seeing how it goes. I like Doran, though, I'd rather not lose him. :)

I experienced my first character death a few months ago... it was quite traumatic. I wasn't really ready to give the character up, so (upon the advice of numerous friends) decided to go with reincarnate. Now I'm playing a goblin rogue.
It's been quite the role-playing experience... from the dysmorphia of the new body, to the (other) psychological affects on the character, to the psychological affects on the rest of the party. The poor party druid is sure he did something wrong for the spell to have brought my character back as a goblin.
I'll give Aran some consideration but missing out on the second round of interview questions will seriously hurt his chances.
Judgement to come in a few hours.
Thanks to Pirknok, I was able "to buy" a few hours, so I will be re-reading this thread and posting real soon again, if it is not too late already. As I already stated in a PM to Pirknok, due to my job, I had to go to Naples, Italy urgently and net is very scarce (read:bloody expensive) here. I will be back on Tuesday, until then I am stuck only with my iPad.
So off to read 100+ posts and try to respond in some meaningful manner.
A) What timezone are you in and what times are you available to post?
Central European Timezone - CET (that's GMT +1, or 6 hours difference from USA east coast, etc, etc...). I post at odd times, usually from my work, until very late at night so let's say starting from 09:00AM to 02:00AM
B) Briefly describe how you foresee your character reacting to another finalist and how the relationship between the two of you would develop. There are assignments for this one. You're responsible for the character after you in the list I posted in the recruitment thread.
Thus:
Aran -> Amoonrann:
Despite the fact that they are both "close to nature" Aran would have quite a lots of troubles finding common ground with, what he would consider a "fanatically stubborn druidess". The way she is described, instead of finding a potential friend or ally, Aran would probably "bump heads" with her over a number of issues. First and foremost would be "the right" of woodcutters to encroach forest around Sandpoint. To Aran, preserving the forest and nature is important, but not more than providing food and work for the people. Where Amoonrann would simply forbid cutting, Aran would go to great lengths to make sure that woodcutters replant parts of forest, that they kill only thise animals they need to feed for themselves, to find ways to repopulate numbers of those creatures who are "suffering" due to forest cutting etc, etc. Aran sees as his own mission to try and enable for civilization to grow, albeit in a very controlled way, trying not to affect the natural order of things too much, and "fixing" what can be fixed. From what I see, It would be very hard, if not impossible to convince stubborn, arrogant druidess to agree on this course of action.
I have to admit that due to the limited time I have at the moment, I have just briefly scanned entries proposed, and this one caught my eye immediatelly. Coming to town, Aran would surely talk to some locals, trying to learn something more about Sandpoint. Upon hearing legend of Risa and her stories combined with the fact that her place is out-of-the-way, would surely be interpreted by Aran that this place is worth of visit. But above everything, its spiced potatoes and cider would be primary motivation for young ranger. Tales and legends can be heard everywhere, and unless you were a part of them (or a bard), what worth is there in simply retelling them? Good food, on the other hand, was a rare treat in this conflicted world, and chances to try some new "gastronomical magic" is not to be missed. So Aran would go there, try to "blend with the local crowd" to the best of his abilities, withouth trying to"push" Risa for the stories. His main focus would be to visit the place, feel the atmosphere and try the specific food&drinks, and if he managed to overheard some fancy legends, than even better.
Erm, this will probably sound stupid to the rest of you but where do I find the person to describe meeting with her/him? I've read about places in the Campaign tab, but I do not see people described ther? Do I need to download Player's Guide?
Entering old cluttered shop, Aran had to fight with the feeling of mild nausea. Why do all these alchemists have to smell so... seeing a huge, life-sized upper torso of what seemed to be a harpy once, young ranger stood for a moment, loosing his thought.
"All of you kids are the same" - a slightly hoarse, yet definatelly very feminine voice could be heard from behind the nearby counter. Aran turned to face the proprietor, and quickly blushed completely. Standing in front of him was a good-looking woman in her mid-forties, with dark appraising eyes. Aran felt a strange mixture of feelings - he has come to this place with a specific reason - try to sell one old giant's toothand earn enough money to be able to afford food&lodging for a few more days. Now he stood in front of Nisk(a), feeling both ashamed that she has "caught him" while he was admiring the statue of a harpie, as well as pleasantly surprised that she is so much different from his previous associate/boss, the herbalist in his own village. And she smells of jasmine...
Idea is to have him meet, and be "knocked down" by the good looks and sharp personality of lady-proprietor of Bottled solutions. A small "detour" - since you have asked me why would Aran be having humans as favoured enemy, I understood it did not make too much sense really. So, with your approval, I would change that to giants for example, saying that one of his brothers was killed in a raid of orcs, which were led by a giant. Since then, Aran has focused his efforts on trying to learn all he can about giants, although he has never really fought one - he just saw once a captured giant, and he won (a different) giant tooth in a "very lucky" game of cards. So being almost out of money, Aran goes to Bottled solutions, hoping to sell the tooth for a decent amount, at the same time hoping that he may even try and find part-time work, collecting strange plants for the local achemist. And then, he found out that this alchemist is much, much more different than what his expectations were...
It was incredibly difficult but I've chosen. If you weren't chosen and you want feedback please PM me but I don't promise anything really meaningful. All of you guys were great and it came down to some extreme nitpicking.
If this were a tabletop game I'd take all eight of you but in my experience overly-large groups don't work well in PBP.
The party will be:
Ysmerelda, Dawn's Rose
Eli Blakewater
Pirknok Stonemight
Doran Quickstep
Adventus Artemidorus
Ensu, gnome cleric of Nethys
Aran and Amoonrann I will keep your names on the shortlist for replacements if we lose someone or they have to be cut. If you'd prefer to part ways and not potentially be called on in the future, please PM me.
Also, if you don't already have one, I'd suggest you make a google account. I tend to use google docs a lot for campaign resources and on occasion I'd like to be able to give out edit privileges.

GM:
I've found that it's a bit non-optimal to keep effects in the character title, mainly because you can never seen what they were if you're looking back and they've changed since. Unless you're intending them to be in both the title and any relevant posts?
Yes, I am 100% sincere when I said I wanted to take everyone.
I actually considered doing an 8 person group or two 4 person groups but decided that I would have been doing everyone an injustice by spreading myself too thin.
Both would be ideal but I prefer the footer over one or the other. I've found having to go through and scan each individual post is much harder than just looking at the footer and seeing, 'Ah, he has Shield of Faith up.'

I do have a Google account. I almost never use it, but this will probably be good for me in that way as well. Do I need to post my account so you can add it to the privilege list?
