Don't feel as though you have to try harder on our account, although I realize that you won't be able to look all the other GMs in the eye in the locker room room until you do...

Thorn, Omen bringer |

TPk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What!!! Paralyzed for a week! LOL!
Please don't try harder. :P
Nice line Tunder!
I am just glancing in when new posts come up, but going with the paralyzed with fear and not noticing anything around me until I am better. :)
Which happened sooner than I thought! :)

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Kiss me? I'm a dwarf. We may be cheap, but we are not easy."
We need to get Tunder a tunic with that phrase embroidered on it when we get back to Sandpoint...

Thorn, Omen bringer |

Sorry folks, I have been teaching, and doing lots of grading, and barely have time to post this before going to bed. I will be on tomorrow. So many things to do and so little time. :(

Thorn, Omen bringer |

I hope to be back, but my time is very sporadic for me time. I hope to be on, but if I don't post in 6 hours or if everyone is posting feel free to DMPC me.

Not sure if any of you are PFS players, but if so you should be aware of this event which is a huge effort to build interest in PbP PFS. I am running a game (Silent Tide 00-01) and playing in a few others. Many tiers and scenarios are represented, but you must join up at Warhorn site to officially sign up. Here is the link for the events.
Note, they all won;t be on the same day via PbP format, but will kick off at about the same time. Go and sign up for your favorite game or DM.

Barek Hisdren |

One thing to note on the pbp gameday: PFS rule still apply, so you can't have a character playing two scenarios at the same time. Since all the games go on at the same time you must use different pfs characters to play in multiple games.
Still love it though! Just have to make myself more characters.

Twigs |

That's one dead ant!
I'm keen to sign up. I'd reaaaally like to play my wizard, but I see somebodies beaten me to the punch. I've signed up for a wizard and I'm sure two spellcasters wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'm considering coming up with a third PFS character instead. Though really I'd just like to get somebody to level 2.

Thought you might find these notes from one of my Group C players entertaining, I did. They are in the middle of the investigation after finding the body stolen (and skeletons) and before they find out about the half-elf bad guy.
I got slightly bored between cases at work. Cribbed together something.
Originally this started as this player's own idle notes, but then I had the idea to express this in-character.If you want an idea of how Alek's somewhat fractured mind functions... this would be a pretty good place to start.
And for the record. It's been extremely cathartic being the crazy guy for a change.

Thorn, Omen bringer |

LOL, wow! I did that pretty much in my head but never thought to put it down on paper, now that I see it, I can see where I missed a few things. Then again this character would never put it down on paper. :)

Aziza Plumbockett |

This quasit fight is going on forever; I have that kid's song that goes "This is the song that never ends, never ends..." looping in the back of my mind whenever I read the IG posts atm. :p

Twigs |

It actually went pretty smoothly in my home game. Protection from Evil and Cleave kept the summons under control, and eventually I had my Quasit, cornered, mad and desparate, attempt to coup-de-grace a slumbered PC. Pretty much put his life down to a single attack roll, it was pretty tense. But our paladin struck true.
I COULD have had her flit away and heal up with fast healing, but I didn't feel like she'd make that great of a recurring villain.

Aziza Plumbockett |

Our characters walked into the Lamashtan 'cathedral' under Sandpoint on the 7th of September - almost a month later on the 6th of October we finally finish the fight with the quasit and her minions. %)

DM DoctorEvil |

Cathedral Post-Combat Summary
Aziza - 5 cold iron bolts remaining; 4 elemental rays left; no 1st level spells left
Barek - 12/19 hp
Mirela - cold iron dagger thrown
Seldon 11/14 hp; 15 arrows left; 3 channels left; Bless and P from E spells left
Thorn 12/17hp; 1 javelin left;
Tunder - 14/26hp; 19 crossbow bolts left;
This room is a cathedral with a pool at the lower level and the glowing orange pool that the monstrosities come out of on the top.
In the tunnels below the Glassworks, after finding notes about the quasit in Tsuto's journal.
Let me know if you need any more of a re-set...

![]() |

As Tunder closes the door, Mirela blurts out almost as an afterthought "Tunder wait!" With a large and frustrated sigh, Mirela mutters quietly "We need your... crossbow, ah hell."
Hoping of the platform, Mirela wonders cautiously but noticeably irritated and lacking patience "I really, really hate this thing."
Not much Miri can do at this point; Seldon is to far away to catch up with, can't see the Quasit, can't really hit it even when we can see it since its always in the air... delay again I guess for now.
I could have helped some. I even considered tossing down some cold iron crossbow bolts, but I couldn't stop chuckling as I thought about the comedy of it when someone realized Tunder had left with the bolts.

Thorn, Omen bringer |

Can Thorn recover the javelin he threw?

DM DoctorEvil |

of course, javelins usually are recoverable, but arrows are usually not. I'll want you to specifically mention picking them up or they'll get left behind; same with dropped weapons or gear.
I find the fight with quasit quite frustrating for most PC's. Your peers in group B had no weapons to harm her, and she fled them after 10 rounds of stalemate.
Just and FYI, tomorrow is my wedding anniversary, so posting will be light or non-existent. Will be back on Tuesday barring unforeseen events in the meantime.

Barek Hisdren |

I'll be away from home from tomorrow through the end of next week. Posting will be sporadic but I promise to get a few in. Please run me as appropriate.

Aziza Plumbockett |

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't been posting daily - things have gotten a little hairy for me since last week, and don't look like they're going to settle down until next week at the earliest. Until then I won't be able to check the game postings or post reliably - I can only beg forgiveness and ask that the GM run my character as an NPC until then. :(

Thorn, Omen bringer |

We understand, hopefully things can clear up and be the best once the dust settles. I will pray for you! :)

Thorn, Omen bringer |

Overhand Chop (Ex): At 3rd level, when a two-handed fighter makes a single attack (with the attack action or a charge) with a two-handed weapon, he adds double his Strength bonus on damage rolls. This ability replaces armor training 1.
Also the feat I will be selecting is cleave.

Seldon Swiftheel |

As for feats, Seldon can have either Precise Shot or Rapid Shot next level. Given his luck so far with that bow (one miss to date) this definitely seems like the way to go. The question is which... Precise Shot is better for dungeons and cramped spaces, as well as if all of the enemies are tied up in melee. Rapid Shot is good if I can take shots at enemys that aren't engaged yet (archers, flyers, surprised opponents) and has the potential for much, much higher damage. I suppose it's a question of what the party is looking for, so I'm interested in your opinions. Would you be looking for somebody that can kill enemies quickly in certain situations (usually situations that mean our meleers are struggling, such as our flying quasit for example) or one that can provide more consistent, lower damage that probably won't kill anything outright, but will be good at finishing off wounded foes that are already engaged.
Finally, there's all of the rest of my goodies. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 hit points, +1 to BAB and reflex saves, 2d6 channel energy, new spells (bulls strength, summon monster ii and spiritual weapon, as well as align weapon for my domain spell) and three sexy skill points (I'll probably grab some new knowledges or a language and perhaps spellcraft and/or sense motive. Aziza has a lot of the above covered but I think I need spellcraft anyway for scribing scrolls at forth level level.)
Edit: I also want to compile a list of flavorful summons for a priest of Desna so I can have a list of stats on hand. I think Desnan clerics can summon Lyrakien at this level, and I can also do a celestial wolf or a small elemental (not sure if this applies to the ice and lightning elemental or no, and I cant decide what element fits Desna best). I can also grab 1d3 monsters from the summon monster I list... is re-skinning eagles as butterflies too much of a stretch?

Thorn, Omen bringer |

Giant butterflies!!!!

Barek Hisdren |

I love giant butterflies! Barek will take his next level in Master of Many Styles Monk as mentioned before. Dragon style and Dragon Ferocity to come. Should be a big boost to his damage.

Twigs |

The first of three deadlines has passed this evening, so I'm a little more free to post again (until next Friday, at least.)
To date I've yet to see anybody step on those wooden slats (they're a little too obvious, I think(, so I thought I'd take the risk and spice things up a bit. Seldon was a little too focused on the monster in front of him, and swept up in his Desnan zeal. Reverse meta-gaming, woooo~

Thorn, Omen bringer |

LOL, how absurd. :P

Thorn, Omen bringer |

Barek, the guisarme is a reach weapon, thus if I take a 5 foot step to the South West, I should be able to hit the goblin.

DM DoctorEvil |

A Note on Leveling
I think I know how I want this to work.
Go ahead and discuss your changes here. I have relaxed my stance on non-core etc, to now just require it be in PRD (not 3rd party or source book stuff please) so I can track in Hero Lab. This means you can use ARG, APG, or any Ultimate books if you like.
You can choose to take mid-point HP (rounded down, ie 1d6 =3)or roll new HP, but re-roll any 1's, subtracting 1 from the new result, but you must choose in advance of rolling...make sense?
Once you think you've got your build, prompt me and I'll review and update my file on you.
Congrats again!
After a little research, the PF consensus is that leveling just happens whenever the GM hands out xp awards that push you over the top. No training etc is required. Since I hand out xp's post combat, I'll let Seldon get his now. Spell slots will not be filled nor resources (like channeling) reset. But HP, spell effects, feats, skill points etc can be in play as soon as you get an approved character sheet.
HP will be handled as above. Tell first, no cheating on the rolls...
