Just like the subject says. The campaign is still very early in Chapter 1. I was originally a player, but after the original DM disappeared I took it over and have been playing my character as a DMPC. That's gotten kind of old, so I'm recruiting a replacement, to join the party when they next return to Oleg's.

Character Creation:
-15 point buy
-Average starting gold
-Max hp at first level
-2 traits (one campaign trait, one other)
-Core Rulebook and APG, anything else to be approved separately
-Start at level 1 (probably), with as much experience as the rest of the party. If they run into a lot of things before they get back to Oleg's, maybe you'll start at second level.

Here's the catch: The character you'd be replacing is a wizard, and he's the only full arcane caster in the group. The party consists of a halfling court bard, a human paladin of Erastil, a human ranger, a half-elf cavalier, the aforementioned wizard (human diviner), and a gnome cleric of Irori. So they definitely could use an arcanist.

For recruitment, I'd like a short (few paragraphs) character description, giving some information about why you want to civilize a large stretch of godsforsaken wilderness and how you come to have the opportunity to do so. Depending on interest I'll keep recruitment open for at least a few days, and make a decision by next weekend. You'd be joining the party probably a week or so after that, depending on how things go this week.

Links to the rest of the party, the game thread, and the discussion thread are on my profile. I don't know how to describe my reffing style, so I'll let it speak for itself.

Hello just wanted to dot for VERY heavy interest. I would love to make a character to try I just have a question really quick. Is it PBP i ask cause currently I do not have internet to support skype and things of that sort.

Background: A woman of sharp intellect and driving passion. Heavily influenced by the death of her parents during an Inquisitor raid on her home town to remove a cult dedicated to the destructive side of the god Nethys, she was orphaned and taken to a wizards college at a very young age after an occult symbol of Nethys was found scarred into her back, she has been heavily influenced by the loss of her noble status and feels slighted by fate at times. She believes she is entitled to more than what she has been given and that can make her seem abrasive. However, like most wizards, her pursuit of knowledge will generally come before most other concerns though her emotions can flip back and forth between hatred towards a world that she feels has wronged her and a curiosity to understand more of it. Katya has spent a year travelling behind the lands of Brevoy with one of the Masters of her college but has recently returned to Restov.

Personality: Being from a noble family without any claim to her blood right and raised among wizards and nobles children, she is sensitive about certain subjects of her life. She attempts to exude an aura of nobility that sits awkwardly on her shoulders. In the pursuit of knowledge she is singularly focused and will lose herself in her studies if allowed to.

Appearance: A green eyed, red haired woman with tanned skin, a strong hint of strange blood runs in her veins as her eyes are slanted upwards and the pupils have an almost cat-like slit. She wears scholarly robes of soft silk with embroidered images down the right side and skirt. A red sash wraps around her waist and holds under the folded cloth her myriad pouches. Her pack bulges with the amount of things kept inside of it and she always smells faintly of jasmine and sulfur.

Kingmaker: Learning of the chance to study the mysteries of the Stolen Lands is too good an opportunity for Katya to miss out on so she has decided to sign up with the expeditions being sent south. Also, in the back of her mind she has begun to formulate possible plans to regain the good graces of the nobility in this venture, and perhaps convince King Noleski Surtova to give her back her title.

I am sorry for the length of the character sheet but I had made it for a previous submission and had been very detailed.

Hey I bow out to katya I was there when she applied and I totally think she has better shot than I do so thanks again

@Katya best of luck :)

Liberty's Edge

I would not want you to bow out on my account Raventhorn. Please do not let me stop you from trying. Though I do thank you for doing so in any case. It is very generous of you.

If both of you are bowing out for each other, I will step in.

Liberty's Edge

Oh no. I am still applying, I just don't wish to make someone feel like they shouldn't apply as well.

Dot.

Liberty's Edge

Didn't catch this before my edit timer ran out, but I know Katya is currently statted out for 20 point buy. I can easily change the stat block to 15 though it wont significantly change the style of play or the design choices behind the stat allocation.

Dotting for interest. Thinking a Verdant bloodline Sorceress, likely a scion of the Medvyed noble house. Will try to get it banged out before the evening.

Tityanna is a diminutive, svelt scion of Brevoy's House Medvyed. She speaks softly, and rarely, choosing to savor her words rather than bandy with them as most nobles will.

Motivation:

Tityanna's primary motivation to be in the Stolen Lands, pursuing the charter is to prove her worth to her family. As an arcanist among rangers and outriders, her homelife was somewhat difficult. Although she made frequent study of the wood, and accompanied her brothers and cousins on rangings for the experience, her lack of physical presence is something that could not readily be accounted for by the host.

Rather than simply be married off to increase some pull in politics, Tityanna chose to come to the Stolen Lands to carve her own way in life.

Will flesh out her backstory as it comes to me, but, this is a decent start, I believe.

I'm thinking I might drum up a Wizard of some sort. Actually, following a run through the arcane classes, I fancy giving Magus a shot. I'm thinking a Bladebound Magus, running from Brevoy following a successful duel for him that killed a Swordlord's son, incurring his wrath as he used his magic in the duel.

Have a few that I would like your input on what you would suggest would be best. These are all made by 20 point buy and Krol hasn't got a KM trait ( I think) but I can ammend this when you make your decision or I will ammend them before you make your descision.

Davor Mason Half-orc Inqisitor of Gorum (strong and silent type)

Krolmnite Underhill Gnome Summoner (chocky fun type with a ediolon's personal page so easy for you and players to differenciate between the two)

Poshment Underhill Gnome Bard (no relative above and you might not want another bard, though this one is just a normal bard who pissed off King Irovetti.)

If none of these suit then I'll bow out as you already have some very interesting parties.

Raventhorn I can speak for that he's a great roleplayer and Kiradia I only saw her backstory (that's how I do my judging for game spots) and she had an amazing story, same with others. It was a shame she didn't make the cut as I could come up with so many oppitunities to make something based on her background. Whispers in the night. A sudden flash of a forgotten past memory. A creature of unknocn origin appearing in the kingdom and so on.

Again, I can only speak for Raventhorn from experience and Kiradia for her great backstory that I could've done so much.

Thanks, all, for the interest. Hu5tru, one question--I notice you have 5 cantrips. I may be missing something, but I thought sorcerers started with 4. Or is that what you'll pick if you start at second level?

ETA: One other question for everyone: This isn't a showstopper, but have you previously run or played in a KM campaign?

@ DM Carbide - APG Sorcerer variant human favored class bonus allows for taking extra spells every level vs skill point or hit point. It is too good to pass up, but if it is a problem, I could use the extra skill point, too.

Tityanna Backstory:

Insular and proud, the scions of House Medvyed were known throughout Brevoy for their particular talents to maintain a hold of fey infested wood. So it was odd when the result of a passionate pairing between two of its members while ranging was a diminutive, nut-brown child with chestnut hair and large green eyes. Tityanna's pale and perfect mother instantly fell in love with her babe, while her father, a capable woodsman and magistrate harbored some suspicion of fey trickery that had replaced his child with a charming little creature who robbed his lady of the sense and practicality he had admired so while ranging.

Childhood was difficult for Tityanna. Her cousins were each hale and strong individuals who succeeded in light ranging without seeming to apply much effort to the martial arts, while Tityanna struggled with the draw on a child's bow, and had no sense of direction save for the obvious passing of the sun. Reliant upon themselves for survival, House Medvyed consistently produced the most capable rangers in all of Brevoy, but before the age of ten, despite giving all of her effort to learn, it became clear that Tityanna was not fit to follow in this tradition.

Tityanna's sole source of comfort in these times was her mother, Leila. Leila and her father had never married, and the man was rarely seen much less active in her life. What little influence Layla maintained as a scion was used to provide Tityanna with capable tutors who examined her and found that she had every ability to serve her House, but in a much different capacity than her cousins. Rather Tityanna's will, which had been bound and frustrated by her inability to serve in the traditional occupation of House Medvyed, would come to express itself in the innate ability to manipulate the reality of nature. In fact, it was said, she would come to be an extremely valuable asset to the family with proper training.

And so it was that for the first few years of her adolescence, Tityanna was instructed in topics in topics including the laws of magic, and the fundamental laws of nature, but also in the structure of the Brevoyan court. Tityanna found the structure of her studies made up for a lack of such in her home life, with her father being all but a haunted look on her mother's face when she asked after his identity.

When Tityanna came of age, her father and grandmother visited Leila's modest home and gifted Tityanna with a chest full of fine dresses, jewelry, and almost as though added as recourse at the last moment, histories of the wood which she had been raised in. While Tityanna's father stood at an aggressive attention, avoiding acknowledging Leila in the least, the elder woman informed Tityanna that a place had been secured for her at court. She was to represent the interests of the House beside her father and his wife Ilyena, and be introduced as their daughter.

Tityanna knew better than to refuse the request of senior members of her house, and so it was with a heavy heart that she quitted her childhood home and attended court beside her step-mother as her lady maid. She quickly found the pagentry and politics a bore, and even more so the wandering eyes of the young pages and scions of other houses who pretended at martial ability to impress. Tityanna was introduced at balls, and spent many hours uncomfortably bouncing atop far too grand mares on mockeries of hunts chasing after the pretty scions as a matter of duty, retiring late in the evening to pen a journal of her outings to her mother, which they passed between them at regular intervals so that they might continue to share their lives. Gradually, Tityanna became aware of her parents intent to marry her to such a useless fop, as her beauty and arcane ability created an attractive draw for any house save her very own, at least so far as she was able to secure a political alliance with another through marriage.

It was all that Tityanna could take. She confronted her father, and calmly and rationally explained to him that it was her sense of duty to her house and him for giving her life that she had endured the idle chatter of the court, but she would not stand to be played for a fool in this manner. She had heard of the charter to settle the Stolen Lands and insisted that if she could not serve her house in an official capacity by bringing them honor in hunts or ranging, then she would spread their influence into a new land, and make them stronger. Having no decided interest in either outcome, her father agreed, and allowed Tityanna to sign herself to the charter.

Might as well throw this up there as well, since it is a kingmaker group

Kingdom Role:

While she has not trained diplomacy, I can see Tityanna assuming the roles of either Councilor or Diplomat, if those have not already been filled or looked to by the party yet. If they have, a third option would be magister. She has an extremely lawful personality, where she will defer to the party leader, but it is in her interests, and everyone's interest to promote order, so that all can achieve their ends in a structured and secure way.

my character Davor WAS in one, however the DM dissappeared.

Also aso you said it isn't a shotstopper, but I am running a conversion of KM for 6 players by DM Alex though that's because I've been waiting so damn long to actually play it. Also very good at not meta-gaming and simply thinking "What would my character do?"

My alchemist is in a KM campaign however the DM replied once a week and I'd rarther have a game that moved faster than a geriatric snail :p

You can check my profile to see what the group is going atm. They've just started exploring the stolen lands really.

I have, yes, but I can separate player knowledge from character knowledge. And, truth be told, we started playing when the books first came out and I have forgotten the bulk of everything. My RL group was an insular group of war/power gaming Norwegians who turned the campaign into a grindfest.

I've run a heavily customised version which involved pitting two groups against one another. As we had to change so much in order to run it, I've not really played KM vanilla, so to speak.

Liberty's Edge

I have not played nor run a Kingmaker campaign.

Ah--I'd forgotten about that. Thanks!

Paizo Fan here, with the Bladebound Magus and Aldori renegade, Lythal Nemur. Please feel free to ask any questions you like.

Thanks, Lythal. I haven't had a chance to read over the Magus rules yet, so this is a good excuse.

DM Aron: I don't think the inquisitor gives enough arcane support, although that will depend to quite an extent on spell mix. I also haven't had a chance to read over the Summoner class in detail, so I'd like to do that before I say anything about whether that would be better than the bard.

That's fine if you want to make sure you have a balanced group. He is more of a Mellee class anyway.

howdy all. i am going to withdraw my character from this competition. I am currently in the process of starting up my own KM campaign and figured I could use Tityanna as an NPC there. Apologies if this causes any confusion.

Thanks. When I first looked at the summoner I was a little overwhelmed with a backstory since the Eidolon could look like anything technically :p. Just realised a better feat for the summon is multi-attack to make the secondary attacks more accurate.

We'll likely be making a decision soon. If anyone else wants to be considered, please submit a character asap.

character stats will be provided if accepted.

brahma henna, female human wizard

background:

dharma, brahma, and siva were at a graduation post-ceremony festivity. it was siva's -- the youngest of the three sisters -- graduating class. dharma (the oldest) was, as usual, acting out her maternal inclinations, being annoying and a wet blanket. brahma and siva, however, were boy-hunting. one particularly mesmerizingly handsome boy who seemed to have caught all the girls' attention. (in fact, regardless of the boys' preferences, he captured their interest too, especially those who were in close proximity to him). this charismatic resident minstrel was entertainment for the evening's festivities, and who happened to be brahma's crush.

as the night progressed, brahma was encouraged by siva to "get her man, once and for all!" so she did. mustering up the courage after a few drinks, brahma finally found herself alone with the bard (a feat in itself, as he was continually surrounded by fans and admirers alike). the bard had other plans for brahma: to add her to his harem -- a bloodthirsty one. using his charms and charisma as his main weapon, the bard played to the will of susceptible victims, isolating and converting them to vampiric thralls.

although victimized and "infected," brahma's body's own arcane constitution wrestled with the vampiric blood that surged through her, maintaining a level of non-vampiric state. the two forces continually exerted each others' supremacy, but neither could maintain dominance. brahma had no knowledge of this "infection," and it didn't manifest itself until she suffered a traumatic psychologically event. brahma witnessed a street skirmish between stern officials and religious zealots: the zealots marched in the street and, without precedent, declared a holy purging, setting off an arcane explosion, mass murdering civilians; they were then, in turn immediately paid in kind, slaughtered by "peace keeping" local militia forces. brahma was caught in the fray and was forced to use her arcane powers to protect herself -- an act which inadvertently killed many by-standers.

the smell of blood and sight of carcasses surged her vampiric inclinations, temporarily overriding the arcane energy that kept it in check. in a trance-like, blood-frenzied state, brahma went on a blood binge that same evening. using her arcane powers, brahma reenacted the scene of the earlier street massacre, creating battles with the seedy and less fortunate creatures of the night. the transformation became a regular event, where brahma often awoke the next day with only dreamlike visions of what had happened the night before. she actually came to believe she was cursed with having regular nightmares in which she killed and lusted for blood, even using her own blood to cause more pain to others.

unbeknownst to her own transformation, the switch had often occurred in times of stress or brahma having witnessed something gruesome. (she was once transformed when having made a wrong turn to the lavatory in a tavern, and instead ended up in the cold storage of recent and butchered kills).

fearing further causing pain and death to undeserving citizens, brahma self-imposed a leave-of-absence, seeking more wild territory where she can understand and control the affliction.

Character background

Male Human Arcane Sorcerer, member of House Orlovski and possibly a coward.

No problem, Hu5tru, and I apologize for not following up on this sooner--it's been a rough couple of weeks at work and at home (two assessments, replacing a car, and assorted other fun). I'll look over the rest of the submissions and make a decision by the weekend.

i'd like to submit a human witch. I will make a full sheet, but ehres the concept. I figure between sleep hex, and an elements patron, Wencis willl be able to offer arcane support in any combat.

Wencis loves magic, but was never very skilled. He learned a few cantrips but anything tougher was beyond his grasp, until he met Blue. Blue is his familiar, a highly intellegent weasel, who teaches wencis a different way to cast spells.

Blue and Wencis first met after a strange dream, in which a being of great Elemental power, spoke to him. This stranger bade him seek out a waterfall near by, and when he did so, he found Blue. Wencis still receives occasional dreams from the stranger, and lately he has begun to elarn things from these dream, like a hex that can put anything to sleep.

Wencis is a bit unpredictable, usually landing him in interesting situations, much to Blues displeasure.

You folks don't make this easy, do you? Anyway, Katya Volkv, please report to the game thread. Everyone else, thank you for your submissions and interest. If Katya doesn't show up in a few days, I'll be back.

Lol, I had the same problem with 3 new people jumping into my recruitment thread the day I was to make the decision lol.

Good luck Katya Volkv.

Well, I'm back--looking for a divine caster of some flavor, to replace a cleric. The campaign is still fairly early in Chapter 1.

Character Creation:
-15 point buy
-Start at level 2, with as much experience as the rest of the party. (I'm tracking experience at this point.)
-Average starting gold + 500 gp
-Max hp at first level, roll for second level but take average for anything under average (i.e., for a d8 roll 1-4 take 5, anything else take what you roll).
-2 traits (one campaign trait, one other)
-Core Rulebook, APG, Ultimate Magic, and Ultimate Combat; anything else to be approved separately

The party consists of a halfling court bard, a human paladin of Erastil, a human ranger, a half-elf cavalier, a human conjurer, and the gnome cleric of Irori (the one you'll be replacing). So they'll need someone with decent healing.

For recruitment, I'd like a short (few paragraphs) character description, giving some information about why you want to civilize a large stretch of godsforsaken wilderness and how you come to have the opportunity to do so. Crunch is not necessary at this point. Depending on interest I'll keep recruitment open for at least a few days, and make a decision by next weekend. You'd probably be joining the party right away, depending on how things go this next week.

Other stuff: The game is at this point kind of slow-paced, mainly due to an excess of RL on the part of 2/3 of the players (and the DM, sometimes). I'd like to try to pick that up a little, so I'd prefer you be good for a post or more a day during the week, with weekends more catch as catch can. You can look at the game thread to get some idea of my reffing style. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post them here.

Grand Lodge

I will make a Cleric! Torag okay? Are there any other requirements? I have been scouring the threads to get into a kingmaker campaign. This is standard PbP too right?

Here's an archer build cleric of Erastil for your consideration. Backstory, personality and apperance are here. I'll come up with a stat block in a bit. Information is contained in the profile.

Can I have the deadeye trait from Orcs of Golarion? Fits in really well with my character concept.

I've been looking for a Kingmaker game for sometime now and have been itching to play a cleric so here goes.

Since you said crunch is not important I will skip it for now but as a basic concept Sabrina will be a passive PC and while she'll be a cleric, she will not start with any knowledge of religion.

Sabrina, Erastil's Ward:
Sabrina, is a 15 year old human girl She has lived within Greenbelt all of her life or at least as far back as she can remember. Where she came from and how she came to be here is past her memory but she has been here for Erastil himself has guided and taught Sabrina how to survive and thrive in the wild.

If anyone knowledgable about such things was to watch Sabrina in the wild long enough it would be clear that Sabrina has a strong link to Erastil. But asking her about it would result in confussion as Sabrina knows him by a simplier understanding. Thinking of Erastil simply as father. Although anyone with a basic familiarity with Erastil can see the connection as she does conceptionalize him as and associate him with stags.

Despite the fulfilling life Sabrina has experienced growing up in the wild, she has recently developed a longing for something more. And so while when she was younger she would run in fear from civilization, she is developing a growing curiousity about it.

Her leadership role would take one of two paths. Either as a Councilor or High Priestess.

Pffft, I dont know how to fix stuff. I just ride a horse, stab stuff with a lance, and occasionally get mauled by a bear. Ya know, Cavalier type stuff.

There was one other thing I'd like to know--have any of you ever run or played in a previous KM campaign?

I haven't run or been in one but I've wanted to. I did pull stuff from stolen lands for use in a custom campaign back in Oct.

It basically amounted to Olag's Outpost and bandits raids on it. As for the story and deeper into the AP, I haven't looked at them in enough detail to remember anything. Certainly nothing story related. Other than Olag's, what I stole was limited to stat blocks and such.

I was almost in a Kingmaker Campaign, but it fell through before getting off the ground. I've wanted to play in the campaign ever since.

Torag is OK, no other requirements that I can think of now, and it's standard PbP.

Instead she will have a more primal, almost druidic connection with Erastil, which will manifest as knowledge of nature and a survival trait.

She has no avatar yet and more detail will come into play after initial feedback and crunch development but here are the basics just to get my hat in the ring.

Sabrina, Erastil's Ward:
Sabrina is a 15 year old human girl with long wild black hair, brown eyes, sun tanned skin and a facial structure that makes it obvious her family was from Southern Brevoy. She is dressed in elk hide and carrying a longbow and short spear.

As far as she knows, she has lived within the Stolen Lands all of her life or at least as far back as she can remember. Where she came from and how she came to be here is past her memory but she does resemble the people of Southern Brevoy.

Since she's been here Erastil himself has been her guide and taught Sabrina how to survive and thrive in the wild, but asking her about it would result in confusion as Sabrina knows him by a simpler understanding. She thinks of Erastil simply as “Father”. Of course, she does conceptualizes him as, and associate him with, stags. So anyone with a basic familiarity with Erastil would eventually come around to see that Sabrina's "father" and Erastil are in fact one in the same.

Despite the fulfilling life Sabrina has experienced growing up in the wild, she has recently developed a longing for something more. And so while when she was younger she would run in fear from civilization, she is developing a curiosity about it due to a growing desire to meet others like her.

Her leadership role would take one of two paths. Either as a Councilor or High Priestess depending on how she grows with the campaign. Civilizing the land isn't much of a priority or interest to her, however, she will be developing an interest to be part of a community. So being a part of creating one that is in familiar territory would be extremely fulfilling for her. Same end, different motive.

And here she is. Class, stats and domains are decided. Final crunch won't be available until I get onto hero labs but the skills she'll focus on are knowledge nature and survival (with a survival trait) and later on, once she becomes more civilized - diplomacy.
