Taedric Starfell
Taedric says, "Well, I guess we've lost the element of surprise, now."
Kelden Sunblade
"we were bound to discovered eventually. From the way they set this all up they expected us. The moles work no doubt."
He held aloft his Holy symbol and channeled positive energy a few times.
rwo chanels: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 4, 1, 2) = 17
"who still has injuries?
Thrall the Lucky
Thrall growls when the demon disappears through the wall (though the extra strike ignores dr).
The winds of positive energy contributes to soothe his mood a bit. "I still have some bruises, but that's fine. We should waste no time or we'll soon have the whole army upon us."
Taedric Starfell
Taedric says, "A few scratches, but Knave is in worse shape than I am."
Taedric Starfell
22 heals Knave fully, Taedric's still down 6, but he can always LoH himself for that.
Taedric signs a thank you to Sapphiria, then repeats the gesture as Kelden heals his partner.
Alorah
"Still a bit bruised but nothing I can't function with." Alorah says, as the healing alleviates the worst of her injuries. "We will end up having to face that woman again. Likely sooner rather than later."

DM-Camris
You are able to rest here if you want.
Peeking through the doorways, you see empty rooms to the west and south.
The walls are bare, with the solid granite dwarven construction clearly evident.
Thrall the Lucky
Survival +16 makes for autosuccess, I guess.
Thrall examines the ground. "There are a lot of tracks, but they seem old. More than a week or two."
Kelden Sunblade
"we should be safe to rest if we need to, and I've used a bit of my holy magic preparred but i think Sapphiria is right, The longer we hang about with the mission unfinished the more likely . . .
His words trailed off and the young cleric paled for a moment. There was no doubt he was thinking of his missing girlfriend and he was trying to hold out hope.
Alorah
"While we have used some of our resources, I think it better for us to keep moving for at least a but longer, I'd rather take down anyone that might have realized we're here due to this fight. Let's keep going." Alorah replies.
Thrall the Lucky
Thrall kicks the door to the South and checks if there are monsters around.
Taedric Starfell
Taedric nods, "Agreed. Best to move forward, lest they realize what's happening and swarm all over us."
DM-Camris
Passing through the western doorways, you come to a larger section of corridors and hallways. The ceilings are taller here as well.
Dust shows a lot of north-south foot traffic.
The doors to the west are blocked on the other side. Seeing some rubble, you speculate there is more on the other side, fallen from the ceiling over the century of occupation.
Quietly moving south, you come to the largest chamber yet.
This once-beautiful court now lies in disarray.
The walls are decorated with murals of angels and templars engaged in all manner of foul acts with beasts and demons.
Collapsed stone completely bars the way north, as only five decorative columns still support the thirty foot ceiling overhead.
Across the great vault, you see a cage slung between two pillars about ten feet off the floor. You see a human figure struggle to lift her head at your appearance. She has clearly been beaten and tortured.
She looks awfully familiar though...
Thrall the Lucky
Thrall avances to the center of the room to have a better vision of all its angles. He can also check the prisoner better from here and, if she seems to react - that is, if she sends alive - he will initiate contact.
"Who are you and why are you here?"
Taedric Starfell
Taedric blinks, then says, "It's Kyra!"
Kyra Greenstar
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Kyra stirs slowly, groaning at the lingering pain and stiffness in her muscles from the most recent round of beatings. She lifts her head slowly in defiance as she turns to look at her captors, one eye fluttering open slightly while the other was completely swollen shut and purple. She turns towards the unfamiliar voice, but something about the way it spoke kindled a spark of hope; it had not spoken like the demons who had sought to dominate her in the recent days. Before she could process more and speak, she hears another voice and this was one that was briefly familiar to hear and now the spark began to burn. She cries out from the pain, but pushes herself up on one arm to turn towards Taedric. "Taedric! Oh, thank the Dawnflower!" Her voice was cracked and raw, choking on the words through her parched throat. She looks passed the others and spots the glow of Kelden in back of the group. She lets out a small whimpering cry. "Kelden, is that really you?"
Kelden Sunblade

He followed the others into the room his eyes running among the once beautiful murals one the wall ruined now by demonic filth. He was already running through his mind on how to just burn the filth off the wall when his eyes ran across his well girlfriend Kyra in the cage.. They would need to... His eyes snapped back to the woman that he had hoped to find but had already started to steel his heart for her being another friend gone forever and his knees just buckled.
Despite his heart suddenly beating a thousand beats a moment, despite the ringing in his ears from where his helm struck the floor He scrabbled to his knees...
"Kyra!?! Light! Dawnflower be praised."
He tried to get to his feet and managed to do so with an awkward wobble. He wanted to laugh but instead it was tears that fell from his eyes. Tears of happiness to be sure, but tears none the less.
DM-Camris
Before Kyra could call out a warning, a wave of fear rolled over the heroes as, in a cloud of spores and a trail of feathers, a horrid cross between a man and a gigantic vulture plummeted from the ceiling to land on Thrall.
Talon attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 13 + 2 = 22 for a possible 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 damage.
Talon attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 2 = 28 for a possible 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 damage.
And thrall is knocked prone, the weight of the demon pinning him flat.
The creature, which could only be a major demon, stood up straight in a cluster of multiple images of itself and unleashed a fearsome screech!
All heroes make a Will save vs fear, DC15. Remember most of you still have bless on you.
Thrall the Lucky
Will save, Bless: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 1 = 15
Darn, that was close. Is Thrall grappled or pinned, or did the demon release him to screech?
Kyra Greenstar
Will Save DC15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Kyra initially shrinks down as she feels that ever familiar sense of dread, but then she feels a fiery defiance explode out from her as her strange, mythic powers burst to life once more. With a primal scream, she gets to her a feet and her allies suddenly find themselves all bolstered for battle as the hope of The Dawnflower washes over them!
Casting Good Hope. This will cover everyone by Thrall and Kyra. Sorry, Thrall, you're just barely outside the range of the spell, but don't worry I've got something for you next round! Everyone else gains the following: +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls.
Good Hope - 70/70
DM-Camris
Thrall: If you were hit by one talon, you're only Grappled. If you were hit by both talons, you're Pinned, with the creature's full 1500lb weight on you. You can still try to escape through CMB or try an Escape Artist. Also your companions can do things to create more favorable conditions for escape.
Taedric Starfell
Those stones are difficult terrain? Trying to figure out if Knave and I can charge?
Taedric Starfell
Will (Taedric) w/Bless: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 26
Will (Knave): 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Even if the +4 from Devotion applies (probably not, as this is fear and not an enchantment), I think that fails. So the charging question may be moot.... Hopefully this is just shaken and I'm not being carried away..
Kelden Sunblade
will save bless: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 1 = 28
knowledge planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
ranged touch attack searing light: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28
confirm?: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 1 = 15
damage: 4d8 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 7) = 20
bonus damage if the touch of 15 hits for the crit: 4d8 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 7) = 18
If the spell crits, 38 points of damage. if not just 20. Assuming i dont blast a image into nothingness.
"We will send you back to where you belong spawn of evil!
He called out advancing towards the demon trying for the life of him to recall what he could about the monster. He held aloft his holy symbol and a lance of pure energy flashed out of it torwards the multi imaged monster.
Waste of a good crit on a mirror image probably, trying ot get his attention from you thrall so you can do your thing :) Don't worry Kyra! Kelden is on his way.
Kyra Greenstar
Don't forget your bonuses from Good Hope everyone! It's a very solid spell! You get +2 on attacks, skill checks, STs, and weapon damage rolls. So if you add that to your attack, Kelden, it might make the difference there.
Taedric Starfell
Taedric starts to try to calm Knave, but the wave of demonic evil pierces his concern... or, rather, reprioritizes them, and he offers simply, "You'll be fine, Knave. Hold here," before leaping off the back and rushing forward with Radiance in his hand, then drawing on the strange power in himself to swing the blade when he gets there, shouting, "Get off, evil thing."
Ride (Rapid Dismount): 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 12 + 2 = 29 That's a free action.
Double move, then swift -> Sudden Attack (roll twice, take best, +1 to hit, bypass DR)
Sudden Attack First (Radiance, Raging, Good Hope): 1d20 + 19 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 19 + 2 + 1 = 27
Sudden Attack Second (Radiance, Raging, Good Hope): 1d20 + 19 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 19 + 2 + 1 = 36
Ok, we'll take #2. ;)
Damage: 1d6 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 2 = 13 Plus Holy: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Round 1 completed____________
Thrall the Lucky ____________
The terror rolled over Thrall, but he just barely managed to throw it off.
Thrall tries to break out, but is just unable to lever himself out.
Kyra Greenstar ___________
Kyra initially shrinks down at the familiar sense of dread, but then she feels a fiery defiance explode out from her as she throws off the terror of the demon.
With a primal scream, she gets to her a feet and her allies suddenly find themselves all bolstered for battle as the hope of The Dawnflower washes over them!
Casting Good Hope. This will cover everyone by Thrall and Kyra. Everyone else gains the following: +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls.
Taedric Starfell _____________
Taedric is all for charging forward, but Knave balks; trembling and holding in place.
Taedric struck at the shifting demon hard, but only managed to pop a mirror image.
Kelden Sunblade________________
Kelden threw off the wave of fear, and responded with a beam of Searing Light!
The beam popped another mirror image as it melted through the front bars of Kyra’s cage, barely missed her, melted through the back bars of her cage as well like a laser, and burned into the wall behind her as well. Kyra is now free to exit her cage if she likes.
"We will send you back to where you belong spawn of evil!” he said, approaching.
Sapphiria Paix _______________________
Sapphiria silently unleashes a Prayer spell to aid the team.
+1 luck bonus to attack and damage rolls, y'all. Stacks with good hope. It is unable to affect the demon however.
(npc) Grey__________________
Grey scuttled over the rubble and around the edges of the room to conceal his presence from the demon. He looked at the pillar, examining it for handholds up to Kyra’s cage.
Vrock_______________
Chuckling at the ineffectiveness of the heroes, the vrock gestured broadly and waived his arms, tracing lines of arcane power through the air.
DM-Camris
Round 2______________________
Players take their turn in order of posting, enemies will go last.
Spells in effect-----
Bless; affecting all the heroes. +1 morale bonus to attacks and saves vs. fear.
Good Hope; affecting all but Thrall and Kyra. Each affected creature gains a +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls.
Prayer; You and each of your allies gain a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks. Your enemy is unaffected somehow.
Thrall the Lucky
Is Thrall still pinned? Can the Denon do whatever magic it's doing and maintain the grapple? Can it maintain the grapple without a roll? Sorry, all of these are important points to consider Thrall's action this turn.
DM-Camris
Thrall: In this case, you are currently Grappled (not Pinned) while the demon is focusing on something else. He seems to be able to maintain the grapple no problem though, relying on his massive weight.
You can still try to break or slip free (His CMD is 27). If anyone is able to damage him or affect his mind during the round, I say you get another roll for each case.
You have one hand free you can attack with as well. As you are in direct contact with him, his Mirror Images are no defense against your attack.
Thrall the Lucky
Right! Thank you!
Thrall capitalises from the demon being a little distracted to call for divine aid and try to slip away from its grasp! But before, he can't resist throwing a fit to the creature's nuts - even if it probably doesn't have.
Standard: Vital Strike Cestus
Swift (Immediate): Liberating Command (allows an attempt as part of the casting)
Move: Stand up (possible AoO?)
Vital Strike Cestus Attack, Prone, Good Hope, Prayer*, Power Attack: 1d20 + 13 - 4 + 2 + 2 - 0 ⇒ (17) + 13 - 4 + 2 + 2 - 0 = 30
Damagex2, Good Hopex2, Prayer*x2, Power Attackx2: 2d4 + 16 + 4 + 4 + 12 ⇒ (2, 2) + 16 + 4 + 4 + 12 = 40
Escape Artist, Liberating Command, Good Hope, Prayer*: 1d20 - 4 + 18 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) - 4 + 18 + 2 + 2 = 35
Rolling away from the beast's grasp, he stands up and looks around to check what's of his comrades.
"What's he casting?!"
*Note that Prayer gives a Luck bonus and Thrall has the Fate's Favored trait.
Taedric Starfell
Is there a way to set up flanking with Thrall? I mean, with a 5' step or something?
Sapphiria Paix
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Sapphiria seems to recognize the demon's incantation and holds up her emblazoned shield. She points at the demon with her falcata, seeming to draw down divine energy toward it. (Shielded Mage feat allows Sapphiria to cast while holding weapon and shield.)
Caster level check (spell penetration): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Mythic surge: 1d6 ⇒ 4 (immediate action, beats total SR 20)
Caster level check (dispel magic): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Dispel magic to counterspell its summoning.
