Also how long does Darkness last?
Several areas of Tiefling Darkness have evaporated, especially in the western side. The area around Iavdi is still dense with darkness and fog.
Is bless still active?
Yes.
Is lingering performance?
Uh, I don't really know. Ask the performer.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

:P then Karthak will try again to dispatch this usufferable tiefling...
Karthak notices the others slowly moving back but he opts to stand his ground trying again to finish off the wounded tiefling!

Voren the Outsider |

Voren nods as he moves with Arthas. "Got it!" He then repeats the instructions to Iavdi and Lisandra.
L: "Vite! Si vous êtes lourdement blessé , se placer derrière Arthas tandis qu'il tient la porte ! Nous ne pouvons pas laisser les tieffelins travers!"
I: "पटकन ! आपण खूप जास्त जखमी करत असेल, तर तो दार वस्तू तर , Arthas मागे ! आम्ही माध्यमातून tieflings द्या करू शकत नाही!"
He looks at the tiefling that Karthak is engaged with and stares hard, eyes continuing to glow green.
Round 6 Actions
Move Action: Move to L12
Standard Action: Cast the Slumber hex on tiefling 5. Target is asleep for 4 rounds. Will Save DC 15 negates.
At this rate, Voren's just going to put everyone to sleep. :)

Lisandra Elsinore |

I think everyone is still doing quite well for HP right now, and we need to see clearly, so Lisandra is going to use her racial daylight ability to counter all this bloody darkness.
"Assez!" Growing frustrated with the lack of vision, Lisandra decides to put an end to the darkness being caused by the Tieflings. Raising her left shield arm, she calls out "Accorde-nous la lumière , la miséricorde de jeune fille!" Suddenly, her shield grows with a beautiful light that seems to burn away the darkness.
Transfer 5HP to Jokum, casting Daylight to counter the Tiefling darkness spells.

Jokum of the Breakbones |

Jokum grins wolfishly as he lunges across the battlefield and into the cloud billowing from Iavdi. Fiends in the mist, eh? His greatsword comes down with a whistle as he takes up a stance opposite Karthak, but cleaves into the wooden floor as the tiefling ducks, and Jokum snarls a curse at the fog. Across the room, Tentak continues to harry the tiefling by Iavdi.
Jokum's Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 30
Tentak's miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 64

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
EDIT: Moving to flank #3 with Karthak.

Dakota Bloomingdale |

@Karthak: no, I stopped the bardic performance a few rounds ago, but seeing how this fight is going I'm thinking about resuming it...
Still worried about Iavdi being under attack by three enemies, Dakota keeps watching her friend's back:
Aid Another defensively, +4 to Iavdi's AC if successful: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 - 4 = 24
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 63

DM-Camris |

Round 6__________
Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
Using full tactical withdrawal so I don't draw AoO.
Arthas moved to block the doorway and shed light for his companions to see by.
As he moves he tries to take Voren with him.
"If you are badly injured get behind me. I will hold the door while we cut these vermin down. Voren, relay that please."
Karthak Ironbreaker_____
Karthak notices the others slowly moving back but he opts to stand his ground trying again to finish off the wounded tiefling!
But again he lost his target in the fog…
Edit: no matter if the performance is still on or not... damn that tiefling!
Lavdi_____
Iavdi feels the tiefling's will breaking, and aims to kill these loast few tainted fiends.
But again, she lost her target in the fog.
Voren the Outsider_____
Voren nods as he moves with Arthas. "Got it!" He then repeats the instructions to Iavdi and Lisandra.
He looks at the tiefling that Karthak is engaged with and stares hard, eyes continuing to glow green.
Move Action: Move to L12
Standard Action: Cast the Slumber hex on tiefling 5. Tiefling 5 is already down. No other eligible targets in line of sight.
Lisandra Elsinore_____
"Assez!" Growing frustrated with the lack of vision, Lisandra decides to put an end to the darkness being caused by the Tieflings. Raising her left shield arm, she calls out "Accorde-nous la lumière , la miséricorde de jeune fille!" Suddenly, her shield grows with a beautiful light that seems to burn away the darkness.
Transfer 5HP to Jokum, casting Daylight to counter the Tiefling darkness spells.
The Daylight obliterates the remaining Darkness, leaving only the fog to obscure everones vision.
Jokum of the Breakbones_____
Jokum grins wolfishly as he lunges across the battlefield and into the cloud billowing from Iavdi. Fiends in the mist, eh?
His greatsword comes down with a whistle as he takes up a stance opposite Karthak, but cleaves into the wooden floor as the tiefling ducks, and Jokum snarls a curse at the fog. Across the room, Tentak continues to harry the tiefling by Iavdi.
Jokum lost his target in the fog.
Tentak managed to hit, but was deflected by armor.
EDIT: Moving to flank #3 with Karthak.
Dakota Bloomingdale_____
Still worried about Iavdi being under attack by three enemies, Dakota keeps watching her friend's back:
Aid Another defensively, +4 to Iavdi's AC if successful: Success!

Red 3 stepped out of flank and attacks Karthak

DM-Camris |

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Karthak keeps attacking the tiefling relentlessly trying to bring him down:"Die already! You heaten!"
Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage roll: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 81
EDIT: Ah! This time I got you damned tiefling. I believe Karthak caused him 4 dmg at the beginning of the battle, so he should be dead... right??? :)

Dakota Bloomingdale |

Seeing as the enemy has a hard time hitting her friend, let alone harming her, Dakota strives to improve Iavdi's chance to hit this time:
Aid Another defensively, +4 to hit to Iavdi's first strike if successful: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 - 4 = 13
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 50

Jokum of the Breakbones |

Jokum lunges at the tiefling again through a gap in the fog, and this time he's rewarded by a scream and a spurt of blood. Tentak, beside him, continues to harry their foes. A tiefling bellows as the badger sinks its teeth into his leg, and the enraged animal flails (ineffectually) at its foe with its claws.
Full attacks on both parts against #6; if he goes down to Jokum, Jokum will shift into that square and Tentak will attack #3.
Miss Chance, Jokum: 1d100 ⇒ 41
Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25

Claw 1: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (3) - 4 = -1
Claw 2: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Crit?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
potentetial bonus damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
A good round for Tentak and Jokum!

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Depends... what are our options?
As the last of the tieflings falls Karthak spits on the floor and starts checking his surroundings:"Let's see if we can salvage something, these beasts cannot have desecrated the whole place!"
Taking 20 searching for loot or secret doors, Karthak has perception +10 and +2 for unusual stonework due to stonecunning

DM-Camris |

A quick search turns up no secret doors.
You find a rack of ten light crossbows, two cans of 100 crossbow bolts,
22 short swords,
17 sets of studded leather armor
two decks of marked cards
and 220 gp worth of silver and copper coins being used as chips in the card game.
The friezes of the knights representing the first crusade have been smeared with graffiti and scratched up to near obliteration. It'll take a complete rebuild by a skilled artisan to clear.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Ok, I suppose we can call dibs on this stuff and make some money out of it later, when we hopefully cleanse this place... then, moving on...
Once finished checking the room Karthak heads for the antechamber where they entered the building and points to the other door:"Seems like this is the way to go... are you ready?" he says placing his hands on the door and slamming it open!
Perception check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23(+2 for traps made of stone or with stone triggers)

DM-Camris |

TACTICAL OVERVIEW
Entering quickly, you first see there are no enemies or bodies here, and two closed doors (one east and one north). You relax a little.
This room is, or was, a holy shrine.
You can see an empty bracket affixed to the south wall that shows where a longsword once hung over a stylized gold sunburst.
Lines of strange runes are carved into the walls on both sides of the sunburst. Dried blood and excrement have been smeared across the sunburst and a short bench for kneeling that sits on the floor.
You realize that this alcove as a shrine to Iomedae where visiting guards knelt and prayed before moving deeper into the garrison.
The runes are prayers to Iomedae written in Celestial, however the letters are unusually florid and complex.
On the north wall is a carved representation of a knight charging on a horse with a longsword. It is scratched to illegibility.

![]() |

Know (religion): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
"This....this is an altar of Iomadae. I must stop, and offer a quick prayer. Please, watch the door."
Using Create Water (6 gallons at a time) to attempt to clean off the sunburst, and then I will kneel before the shrine.
Iavdi kneels before the altar, unstrapping her shield, andplacing her hand on her longsword, and it's point in the ground.
"I will have faith in the Inheritor. I will channel her strength through my body. I will shine in her legion, and I will not tarnish her glory through base actions."
She stands up, and straps her shield back on her arm.
"I am ready. We may continue to slay these heretics and fiends."

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Since there seems to be no threat at the moment (as for my previosu perception check) Karthak takes 10 on another perception for a round 20! (22 for stone traps) and notices the inscription
Karthak leaves Iavdi to her prayers and cleansing and checks the room before noticing the carving on the wall:"Those foul desecrators know no shame! This seems to be a depiction of Yaniel... Once we deal with the wardstone there will be a lot of work to be done here... and in the whole of the city I suppose..."
When Iavdi and the others are ready Karthak prepares for the next room how many doors are there?

Voren the Outsider |

After the battle...
Voren sighs in relief as things start to settle down. Looking at the sleeping tieflings, Voren says, "We should hurry. My hex keeps them asleep for only a few minutes." When he sees Arthas about to execute them, the witch says, "Wait! Do we have to kill them? Maybe... maybe we can interrogate them! Maybe we can... redeem them?" He starts fidgeting with his tail in nervousness. He sighs as the executions go on.
Loot
Voren sees all of the items from the tieflings being piled up. Turning to the others, he says, "So, how should we divide this? I'm assuming that we're taking the coins and dividing that amongst us. But what about the rest of the stuff?" He picks up a deck of marked cards and inspects it, curious about it.
In the holy shrine...
When the team enters the room, Voren looks around. When Iavdi is finished cleaning the shrine, Voren walks over to her and offers a small prayer to Iomedae. While not overtly religious and taking reverence in the empyreal lord Immonhiel, Voren does understand that it's best to ask for guidance in these times. When he's finished, Voren looks to Iavdi and asks, "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Hearing Karthak, Voren turns to him. He nods. "I agree. There's so much work to do." He then walks over to the dwarf, hooves clopping on the stone floor. He looks at the inscription.
Take 20 on perception for 21.
Voren says, "Karthak's right. Yaniel is on this wall." The witch looks at the dwarf. "Wasn't she the original owner of Arthas's sword?" After he gets his answer, the tiefling looks back at the scratched out wall. "Is there a way to fix this wall?"

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Retrospective posting!
"They brought this on themselves, Voren. We can't allow ourselves to have enemy soldiers at our back. Especially not knowing the kind of monsters still defending the wardstone! In other circumstances I could have agreed to spare them, at least until they received a fair trial, but in this case the circumstances require for us to shoulder the burden of the executioner. I'm sorry, Voren, but this is our duty to the good people of Kenabres and to the crusade itself!" so saying Karthak moves near the first of the sleeping tieflings and cuts his throat in one swift motion.
"This is a merciful end, considering what they have done and what they would have done given the chance" adds the dwarf pointing at the table where various human body parts lay discarded after serving as the tieflings meal.

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel |

After the battle . . .
"You are a good person and have a generous heart Voren. Those are traits becoming of a healer, but this is total war. These fiends have aligned themselves with powers that demand the wanton destruction of all that is good and living. They purposefully seek out the weak, the old, even the unborn to debase and mutilate. They thrive on the terror of the helpless. They die this day, they are beyond redemption and there is no time to spare."
Arthas slips this blade tip through the side of the tieflings neck severing the spine and brain stem at the foramen magnum cleanly.
"Their being asleep will spare them the knowledge of their worldly deaths, but they have condemned their souls to tortures beyond comprehension in the Abyss. Do not weep for them. We need you focused on our mission."
Arthas rests a hand on the healer's shoulder and looks into his eyes to be sure that Voren can see he holds no contempt towards him and regrets causing him discomfort.
Loot . . .
"Yes, gather the coins and take anything you need. If we come back this way we will take what we can with us to the resistance."
In the shrine . . .
"Perhaps this bracket once held Radiance? Almost every corner of this city has been defiled, but I suppose a quick moment can be take to give thanks."
Arthas places it on the hanger and knees down to offer a prayer to the powers of heaven and for Yaniel.
He wraps up the short prayer with, " . . . may I be worthy of bearing the blade you have lent to me and may I live up to the memory of Yaniel who bore it faithfully before me."

Dakota Bloomingdale |

Dakota watches the executions with a very serious look on her face.
When it's all done, she speaks in a soft, heartfelt tone.
"I bear witness to the very difference between good and evil. Yes, there are indeed circumstances where good must end lives, to contain the spread of evil; but the light of goodness shines even then, as it shines now before my very eyes, for in truth good never takes pleasure in cutting lives, but does it as swiftly and mercifully as it can, and always with a sad and heavy heart."
She then touches Voren's arm, gently and lightly.
"You, my friend, are a kind and noble soul. Please, don't let this weigh too heavily on your heart, for it is for the greater good and the countless lives of innocent people."

![]() |

I'm just gonna keep it in the present, as Iavdi carried out the executions silently. No words for these dead.
"Fortunately, Voren, there is something you can do to help. Finish cleansing this site of the taint affecting it."
Iavdi picks her sword up, and points it towards the door.
"We continue."

Jokum of the Breakbones |

Jokum watches the execution of the sleeping tieflings with his eyes narrowed, but doesn't say anything--it's possible he's watching more to ensure that it's done properly than out of any sort of disapproval. He barely glances around the chapel, snorting dismissively at the others' prayers.
"Good words, Iavdi. Let us continue." Tentak continues to trot along amiably behind him.

Voren the Outsider |

@Karthak
Voren looks in the direction that the dwarf points as cringes at the sight of the half-eaten body parts. He thinks for a few moments and slowly nods his head. "You're right, Karthak. These tieflings are too far gone. They have done too much evil and destruction."
@Arthas
Voren looks at the paladin. He stops fidgeting and wringing his tail. "I'm sorry, Arthas. You're right. They have thrown themselves in with the demons and have done too much. Our mission must succeed if we are to protect our friends. We must proceed."
@Dakota
Voren looks down at Dakota and smiles. "Thank you, Dakota. I won't let this weigh me down. We have lives to protect, after all."
Loot
Voren nods at Arthas. He then divides the coins amongst the seven of them.
I did some quick math. I divided the total by 7 and it seems like get 31.43. I rounded it up slightly to the nearest hundredths place. I may have it wrong. So how much is that in terms of sp and cp?
He also takes the two marked decks. At the questioning looks the others no doubt give him, Voren smiles sheepishly and gives a sheepish chuckle. "Well, I haven't seen anything like these before."
Everyone
Voren walks up to the table with the body parts and says, "You're right. All of you. In order to protect lives, we must take them. It may go against my personal code as a healer. But it's what has to be done." He looks down at his hands. "Arthas and Karthak are right. This is a full blown war. A war that I have seen at the start. As far as I'm concerned, I have been part of the Crusades since the start and I will see it through the end. All those who ally with the demon hordes and revel in shall fall." Voren turns to the others, his eyes glowing orange in determination. "But, if there are those who can be redeemed, who can be turned back to the path of good, then I'll aid them in reaching that path. I am a healer. It's my sworn duty to heal the world as I am able."
@Iavdi
Voren nods at Iavdi and draws his morningstar, ready for a fight.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

Let's go east first.
Karthak approaches the door in the eastern wall and kicks it open:"Be ready for anything!
Perception check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17(+2 for stone traps)

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel |

"Are we . . . Are we missing something here?"
Arthas reaches out and touches the writing.
"Let us inherit thine arms . . . And hold us in them should we fall."

Voren the Outsider |

Voren follows, his glowing eyes peering around, ready with a hex and, if need be, a swing with his morningstar.

DM-Camris |

When you kick the East door in, you see:
This room was once some sort of museum, but its contents have been smashed and scattered across the room—even the shelves have been shattered and torn apart in places. The decapitated bodies of two knights, their armor and bodies broken and mangled, lie in the ruins.
Crouched over their desecrated bodies are a trio of beauty hating Abrikandelou demons. They turn at the intrusion and hiss.

Karthak Ironbreaker |

As he sees the demons Karthak moves against the nearest onein the south eastern corner of the room!

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel |

Arthas frustrated at not being able to figure out the riddle and further enraged by the demons charges forth with righteous furver blazing in his eyes. Radiance burns with its inner holy fire as the paladin makes a tremendous swing.
"In the name of the Lady and the Shining General I strike you with great vengeance and furious anger for those who have defaced their servants upon sacred ground!"
1d20 + 8 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 - 2 = 28

1d10 + 5 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 6 = 18Please please please crit for epic x2 critical damage!

Iavdi silently enters the room, having no words for these full fiends.
While moving farther, however, she starts to speak a spell under her breath in the language of demons.
Moving 20 feet towards the one in the north, and casts Shield of Faith from her trait SLA, increasing her AC to 24.

Jokum of the Breakbones |

Jokum leaps into the room, bow drawn, and grits his teeth as he fires off an arrow at one of the demons not too close to his companions. Filth.
Move to within 30' and shoot, cold iron arrow.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
