Male Human Soulbolt 4

Hey, Caleth, I'm not going to be here for about the next week, as I'm going on a cruise. I leave sunday, and won't be back until I believe, the following Sunday. I will not have any net access, so if you want to either NPC me, or drop me, I suppose I am fine with either.

As the campaigns are getting past the more scripted "prologue" stage at his point and are going to get more open ended in nature soon, I wanted to get some opinions from players.

Since this campaign is for you guys, do you have any comments on anything you would like to explore storywise for your characters, or anything else you would like me to try to get into the game. I can't gaurentee it will fit the world, but I will take any suggestions under advisement as I start planning the next section of campaign.

You don't have to have an answer now, whenever I DM long campaigns I ask this same thing periodically.

PS-Quodak, when you get back, just jump right back in. You didn't miss any encounters or anything.

Male Human (from the northern jungles) Bard 1

I'd like my character to be involved in the invention of writing. Maybe with the liberation or creation or inception of a good aligned god of knowledge. That is pretty high concept, but hey if we survive to high enough level...

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

For the Dragons group - are we still looking at a potential bump to 3rd level?

Yea, so that you guys can actually fight some dragons. I'll probably do the same for the Gods group, since while starting at 1st level has its place, I am not a fan of low levels.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Cool - Level 3 would come with a few cool toys for my Vitalist.

One of the big ones is Telepathy, which will allow four of our group to communicate by thought without a need for a common language.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

I think we knew from the start that Byarsh is quite skeptical of divine forces, and I am still interested in providing him some exposure to the divine so that he can decide for himself whether or not its worth his time. On a similar note, he would probably enjoy meeting assorted NPCs who are still deciding for themselves what these new gods mean.

Please note that I will be tied up with Gen Con from Wednesday until about Monday.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Has Estil left us? Have not heard from him since July 13. Just wondering if we need to replace or just continue on without.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Well, hopefully very soon the party and I will begin developing a bit more rapport. Learning languages at level 2 will hopefully help.

I will probably learn Camthi (since that's the most spoken language) but IC Samaerew will probably argue that everyone should just learn Sharrim, since it's obviously the best language, since it derives from the tongue of the First Men.

Nice! Have fun.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

The dragon has not responded to my questions. Thought maybe you missed it or something...

whenever you're ready to bump us to third level let me know. I'll simply be adding two levels of barbarian. Which are already in my backstory.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

For Krathok's bump to 3rd level, he will be gaining:

12 HP (from average HP per level), +1 all saves, +1 BAB, bump skills by 2

Gets: Vitalist's Touch, Health Sense (identify), spirit of many, Steal health (touch) and telepathy.

3rd Level Feat: Body Fuel: recover 2 pp by taking 1 point of ability burn to Str, Dex and Con

Powers Known: Body Adjustment, Biofeedback, Collapse

Since you guys are about to level, on the subject of Ultimate Combat.

I literally just got it today, so I am going to need some time to digest it and figure out what is appropriate to the setting. That's why the slowdown before your level bump, so that I could have a chance to see UC to give you guys a full range of options for your next levels.

Guidelines to Come.

PS: Krathok and everyone else. I usually roll HP each level, but if you feel really strongly on the issue we can talk.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Rolling is fine too 1d6 + 2 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (3) + 2 = 8 - blergh

UC won't have anything for me unfortunately :)

Hp for two levels of barbarian 2d12 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2

Edit: wtf!?! Really? Did I do that right?

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Caleth - you never got back to me on the subject of the Targeteer fighter, so I'm not sure yet how Erie will advance.

Yep - but unfortunately thems the breaks when you roll for HP.

DM? Can I just take average. My HP rol Friggin BLOWS, hardcore.

Yes you can take average, for flabbergasting me. I have never seen someone roll two 1s in a row for HP.

Erie regarding Targeteer:
I am going to allow the Targeteer with a few caveats to keep it from spiraling entirely out of control. First, it is still a fighter archetype so you'd have to take levels of fighter to take those particular abilities. Also if I am reading the Vital Aim ability correctly it only works when you would be adding a strength bonus (ie w/ a strength bow) and it turns off whenever you have a negative strength mod (ie after ability damage), which brings it into the realm of balance in my view.

for a friggin barbarian to boot.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

2d10 + 4 ⇒ (7, 6) + 4 = 17

Eh, not bad.

2 levels of Soulbolt are in store.

So i'm generally not a Melee type and I've never played a barbarian...SO Any advice on feats/rage powers?

edit: Keep in mind I'm going to be a dragon disciple.

If you plan to go melee: Power Attack -> Furious Focus

- Step Up is good for threatening casters

Travel Devotion (CChampion) is great for every build

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

2 levels of rogue: 2d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10

Well, its a good thing I have the good Con.

Just gonna stay on the Scout path for now. Later, I might take some levels of Ranger, or maybe Shadowdancer prestige.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

For his bump to 3rd level, Quodak will receive a blade skill, (Close-range expert) which allows him to take shots at melee range w/o provoking.

He will also receive +2 BAB, +1 to all saves.

My Mind Blade will be equivalent to a +1 weapon, and I'll be able to use psychic strike, adding 1d8 to my my attack, and then I have to recharge it with a move action.

The feat he is going to pick up will be Psionic Shot, which adds +1 to damage while psionically focused, and I can expend that focus to gain 2d6 on a single shot, until I use a full round action to regain psionic focus.

So I skimmed UC a first time through and it is very cool.

Feel free to use anything in it except the things which are obviously not setting appropriate (Firearms obviously and anything Asian themed at least for now).

I will definatley be using the vehicle rules (nothing says Bronze Age like chariot warfare).

I will not, however be using the primitive weapon rules, I like the 3rd party ones on the srd better, and the list of bronze age weapons in UC is a little too restrictive for me.

How do you guys feel about using the called shot and partial armor rules. I kind of like them, but they do add considerable complexity.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

I like the called shot rules - they allow for a bit more tactical choice and variety in attacks. Plus, we're fighting dragons. Aiming for the one missing scale on a dragon's chest is a classic tactic, after all.

I'm not so fond of partial armor, however.

Also the picture for the called shots is stabbing a dragon in the eyeball, it doesn't get much more appropriate for this campaign than that.

If the Partial Armor and Performance fights had been released before the campaign started I would have definitely incorporated them into the 1st encounter.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I don't feel one way or the other, really, with either Piecemeal armor or Called Shots. Whichever decision is made, I'll be fine with.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Just for information's sake, is there a single person other than Krathok or I who has any psionic aptitude whatsoever?

I believe that you and Krathok are the only two psionic characters between both parties, which will be interesting since I have not DMed any psionic characters since way back in 3.0, and he was a psionic warrior, so yea.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I was referring to in the compound we are in now. I.E., are any of the dragonborn psionically proficient, or are he and I the only ones? Also, what are their reactions, as I'm sure if there are no others it might be a bit surprising.

Ah, I get it. Unlikely if you are going to try to find another psion, but keep in mind that at this point in the setting magic has not yet been codified and is still mysterious enough that even most spellcasters probably won't be able to tell the difference right off the bat.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I would just be trying to see if anyone could do anything similar to me,i.e., the creation of weapons.

So I'm going with a draconic feat TBD (to I will have dark vision) for the feat and Knockback for the rage power. Also I took one point in linguistics. What language is most universal among our group? I figure over time someone has taught me that language. Will make communication much easier. Thoughts?

DM; as far as items go Just some big ass ax or club. If it was +1 Dragon bane then all the better.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

Is the idea to level the Gods group to 3 as well after we finally get through the situation we are in or are we continuing along at 1st?

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Well, at this rate we should be through the tomb by, say, April of 2014.

Male Human Summoner (Master Summoner) 2

I like your optimism!

Don't be silly, you'll be done well before August of 2013.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I just realized that Quodak has been missing a skill point. I'll update his profile. The point would have gone into Survival, which will be correct soon.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Byarsh definitely opened up an interesting can of worms by performing his divination - certainly an interesting development. I can certainly steer things towards getting back into the action.

Male Tiefling (formerly human) Witch (Dimensional Witch) 7

Only thing I'm waiting on is some confirmation or qualification from Samaerew regarding what we can do with the contents of the tomb. Byarsh is pushing towards making use of what is in the tomb, giving ritual thanks to those spirits who provide the group with the tools needed to combat the outside menace, and pushing on with a similar approach further in. He is not in favor of using the items for bartering purposes, as he values the spiritual significance of the grave goods.

2 levels of witch 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Sorry for the delay. I've had trouble finding time to actually update the character.
It's pretty much done. I've just got to get him up to the profile.

I just want to let everyone know that I am in the process of applying for a Chinese work visa and moving to China, so that is why my posting has gotten somewhat sporadic. I will continue to post when I can, but be prepared for some gaps of several days in my posting and an eventual radical shift of timezones. Just you you guys know.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

Sorry about the delay in advancing Erie, but I'm still waiting to hear back from you on the fighter variant I want to advance her in. Once I have a yes or no answer from you I can advance her as appropriate.

Targeteer Variant from Dragon 310

I swear I posted a decision on the Targeteer somewhere, but I can't find it now so...

Eire:
I am going to allow this and pray that it does not get out of control. A few things though. First, this remains a fighter archetype and second, if I am reading this correctly, then you need a strength bow for the Vital Aim to work and if you get drained into negative modifiers for strength the ability turns off.

Male Human Paladin of Freedom 2

Okay, updated to level 2.

Just to let you know, I am going to be traveling for the next 24-27 hours, including a 12 hour plane ride (blech). So do not get alarmed if I seem to vanish from the internet in that time, I promise that I will check what is going on when I can.
