Just to let you know, I am going to be traveling for the next 24-27 hours, including a 12 hour plane ride (blech). So do not get alarmed if I seem to vanish from the internet in that time, I promise that I will check what is going on when I can.

This will just not do. *points to contract* See here where it says that DM Caleth (Hereafter referred to as god) will be reading the forum and posting as required every four to six hours or more as desired by the players (hereafter referred to as peons).

Looks pretty cut and dry from where I sit. You will in fact be required to force a landing of the plane at least once to check the forum and update for our enjoyment. If this contract is not met then the peons will be filing a complaint against god with the relevant authorities.

You have been warned!

P.S. Have a good trip!

(FYI I'll be on vacation Sep 1-6. I'll still check in at least once a day unless something unfortunate happens. Just wanted to give a heads up.)

I have settled into my new job and schedule, so I should be able to begin posting regularly again, just at strange times since I am in a new time zone now.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I'm not going to be posting for a while. My father died last night, and I'm going to be going out of town for a while to get all of the preparations done, as well as the funeral. I'm not entirely sure how long it's going to be before I'm able to post again, as I won't have regular access to a computer. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you feel the need to drop me due to lagging story or whatever, do so. I would much rather, however, be NPCd.

condolences. take care of yourself.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Thanks for your support.

Take as long as you need. I can NPC you, I hope you are doing ok.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

My condolences as well. Do what you need to do.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I'm back. I'll be catching up with all of my PBPs in the next day or two.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

I updated my character's profile finally, so you don't have to open the PDF to see my statblock. (though the PDF is updated as well)

Not to spoiler anything guys, but I am thinking of using the caravan rules from Jade Reagent in the next portion of the campaign depending on what you guys do. You might want to get the players guide (which is free) and familiarize yourselves with how it works.

Female Elf Scout 1/Fighter (Targeteer) 2

It's been a long time coming, but I'm dropping out of this game. This seems like the best time to avoid screwing over the party by leaving mid-adventure. As for why, I'm in too many games at the moment. Also, this one has been kind of railroady.

Cheers, and good luck to you all!

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

FYI - I'll be out of town tomorrow, so probably won't get a chance to put in an update until Sunday evening my time (in roughly 48ish hours from this post).

Please DMPC me if required to keep things moving.

You guys have reached the end of the "introduction" portion of the campaign. At this point I am going to really open up the scope of the world as much as can be done in a PbP.

At this point, though, I would also like your thoughts on how the game has been going. What are some of the strong points in your opinion and more importantly, what are some things that I could improve about the game, or what are some things that you would like to see.

I like how this game is progressing.

One small problem I've noticed is that occasionally, when you post maps, the scale which change a bit, but that's not too bad, and it happens rarely. Other than that, i think you're doing a pretty good job. Your descriptions are, for the most part, concise but informative, which I like, and combats have gone pretty smoothly, especially compared to some other PBPs I've been in.

Overall, keep up the good work.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Caleth - just a quick comment to say that things are looking ok from my perspective.

Not really a great deal to add or subtract - keep it up.

On another note - I will be on an extended vacation from 14th December through to 10th January (travelling down to Australia to visit relatives). While I will still retain net access, its worth noting that my frequency of being able to check will plummet during this time.

So I won't be very vocal and might only get online once every couple of days - but bear with me and I'll be back in force come January.

We're the rebel alliance! All we need now is a secret base on Hoth! lol.

Seriously though I like this. Immediate concerns are going to be survival, but once we figure something out I figure we'll be running missions to weaken the dragon empire. I'm really digging this game. ;-)

I didn't quite expect you to be dumped in the middle of the mountains, but I have to follow the internally consistent rules that I have made up for the world, including the defenses of Vel Daeroth.

What happened to you guys (kinda-sorta a spoiler so only read if you want to):
It is virtually impossible to teleport into or out of Vel Daeroth. Urrax thought that you were outside of the defenses, but you ran afoul of them all the same.

Anyway, I think that the altitude rules are going to be relevant soon. As well as the rules about cold.

I just noticed that you guys seem to have forgotten about a bunch of treasure that you have gotten. Some loot you received that I could not find listed on anyone's character sheet which you might want to use or barter later include:
Belt of One Mighty Blow
+1 Lamellar Leather Armor
Cloak of Resistance (Black with dragon scales embroidered on it)
2 Gold Badges of the Dragon God's holy symbol worth 400gp each
Cracked Orange Ioun Stone containing Jolt
Wand of Ray of Enfeeblement
+1 Composite Shortbow (+2 Str)

What does "one mighty blow" do?

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Well, I could make use of the bow, since Erie is gone now. I don't need the armor, and the cloak can go to someone else.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I don't need the armor either, and my saves are already decent.

Fort:+4
Reflex:+7
Will:+4

The belt adds 1d8 on a light, 2d6 on a one handed, or 3d6 on the next two-handed melee attack, by the way. Not going to be in melee, hopefully, so I don't need that. In fact, even if I am in melee range, I'll attack just fine.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

My saves are Fort +4, Reflex +7, Will +0.

I guess I could use the belt and maybe the cloak, but not much else.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok happy with needing no gear at the moment.

Moredrel will take the Ioun Stone and the wand, unless someone else wants them. Orion, you should be able to use them, so if you want some magic attack ability, feel free.

We'll keep lugging the badges and the armor until we find a place to trade or sell them, I guess. The badges might be useful for disguise again.

Charges on the Wand?

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Right, Orion can have the cloak, as the dwarven resistance to magic'll help me out. I'll put the bow on my sheet now.

Any arrows to go with it, by any chance?

Orion will take the cloak.
What power is the Cloak of resistance? +1, +2

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Sorry I haven't posted in so long; my internet was knocked out. It's back now. :)

Merry Christmas everyone. Or a belated merry-whichever-holiday-you-celebrate-that-has-already-happened if that is the case.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Merry Christmas.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I'm gonna be off and on today, as it's my birthday, and stuff's probably going to be happening here.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

HP Roll: 1d8 ⇒ 8

4th level for Vitalist isn't too exciting - mainly just extra PP and HP. Will update my character sheet fully when I get back to KL on the 10th of Jan.

I'm still thinking about spells. Is there any chance of meeting other witches I can trade spells with or am I going to be stuck with just the 2/level?
I'd even take the creepy Blood Transcription, but RAW it would require scribing a scroll.

If you learn a spell by Blood Transcription you can teach it to your familiar directly out of your mind without having to scribe anything. By RAW the spell does not have to go on a scroll first, it can go right into your familiar (or spellbook in the more usual case). I highly recommend that spell in this case since then you can get spells from the spontaneous spellcasters you fight.

For the next few weeks, I am going to be traveling in Yunnan and Southeast Asia, so I don't know how often I will be able to check up on all my games here on the boards. I will check when I can and I will be back home by the beginning of February at the latest, so bear with me and keep posting. I will check in whenever I can.

No Problem.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Also not a problem for me.

Kjolmar:
Since you are encoutering the Dwarves, I am soon going to post for you some things about Dwarven culture and society that Kjolmar would obviously know. I am still working on it, but the Dwarves of this world are turning out to be based on Tibetan and Chinese culture.

Have you guys updated your profiles with the various loot that you have gotten so far? It may become important soon who has some of the equipment that I have given you.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

I haven't gotten any loot lately, not needing it, so that's on everybody else.

I have the cloak of endure elements/resistance +1 (it is +1, right?). That's it.

How about the +1 Cold Iron Warhammer? Also, I thought Moredrel had the cloak.

I'm not sure about the war hammer. I'll use it if no one else is.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Why are we posting with OOC tags in OOC chat? Just curious.

I'm not sure anyone ever claimed the hammer. I don't have the Cloak, though we were talking about passing it around to anyone who needed the warmth.
I have the gloves, the ioun stone, the horn, a couple of wands and I'm carrying a Lesser Restoration potion.

I don't know why I used OOC tags.
I we still can pass the cloak around as needed. I simply claimed it because my wings would make wearing a cold winter outfit difficult.

If no one wants the hammer I'll take that otherwise I'll just stick with my mini tree trunk.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

You can have the hammer.

I have the meteoric dagger, a mithril chain shirt, and a +1 composite longbow.

Half-Orc Barbarian 1

Krathok just have normal dagger and smelly leather armor. He have simple tastes.

Male Dwarf Rogue (scout) 4

Edit: That is actually a +1 composite shortbow. Not longbow.

Male Human Soulbolt 4

Quodak has a dagger, a cestus, and a chain shirt.
