RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

On a related point, we've had a REALLY good showing in this fight!

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Yeah, but I still don't think we're gonna save the governor's manor. From the moment that nat-20 for the fire spreading got rolled I'm pretty sure it was gone.

As far as the fighting itself goes, I don't think it's so much that the stalkers had a poor showing as that the RNG was very much our friend for it. There's really no way to prepare for...what was it, five more-or-less consecutive critical hits?

Still needs rolls from Tobar (and Weyve, if he's back yet).

I'll be out of town from Friday afternoon through Tuesday night. Wi-fi access might be spotty, so I might not be able to post much until I return.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

If the trip to the hag will include a night's rest, I think we should head out now; if we could be there within a day, I'd say rest here and head out at first light. Even if that fight didn't take many spells from me, I'm sure we'd all prefer to be at 100% spell-wise and health-wise before we try taking on a hag.

I assumed that you rested overnight and the conversation with Ramona happens first thing in the morning.

Would you like to bring Oorka with you?

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

That's a good question. Lesser questing I wouldn't have a problem bringing her with us, but since we're about to be taking on a BBEG, I dunno...what does everyone else think?

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

She's good to have around, but it's dangerous. I say we go see her and ask if she wants to come. If yes then great, if not then fair dos!

You can send Kalikk to go check on her. She'd be back in a few hours.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Yeah, that's a good thought. Go ask her ourselves! I'll agree to that. Are any strix available? They could go and ask her if she wants to join us a lot more quickly than we could walk.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

How long has it been since we sent the locathah out in search of anti-hag gear? That was the main reason we were hangin' around so long and trying to root out stuff at the colony; waiting for them to get back.

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

Only a few days I think... and Brainiac rolled max for the time it would take them! :D

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. Probably not long enough, and I don't think it's a good idea for us to wait until they do come back with anything; we need to go take care of the situation now.

It will still be a week before they make it back, unfortunately.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

That being the case, I think we should just push forward. Now's not the time to wait for something like that; anything they find that's hag-specific should work on any monstrous humanoid, so it's not like it'll be useless.

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

Let's move then. Smite Evil overcomes all DR afterall! ;)

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Do we want to bring Oorka with us? I'm honestly leaning that direction. I don't think we'd have made it through the fight with the crazy Gillmen without her healing us here and there, even if she did get knocked out in the process.

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

I'd like her to come, specially if we are going to be down Weyve as seems possible.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Yeah, Weyve has me worried. Yesterday was three weeks since his last post in-game and this isn't a fight we need to go into minus a divine caster/healer.

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

Worst comes to worst Oorka comes with us now and then we recruit at beginning of book 3?

Also, can Weyve-bot fix my con damage?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I'm down with that.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

I suspect we're gonna need to have Weyve botted through the end of this book regardless; losing a level six character can't be made up for by adding one that's almost certainly at least a couple or three levels lower. Oorka would just be a bit more insurance.

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

Yeah... unless Oorka has gained LOTS of xp from adventuring with us I imagine we need both!

Unless anyone knows someone else who might step in at short notice and run Weyve for a bit?

I can bot him for the time being.

Will you all use the raft to cross the lake? Do you want to approach the tower or go into the cave?

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

Terana will be on the raft but not rowing, she needs to slide off at a moment's notice for when we get attacked by giant lake monsters! (You all know it'll happen!)

I say cave. :)

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Gideon will be on the raft too. I'm assuming the lake is freshwater, which means the Cloak of the Manta Ray won't work in it. And I'm also gonna go with cave.

The lake is freshwater. Post coming now!

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

So...assuming you have to continue to bot Weyve, are you willing to entertain tactical suggestions for his actions?

Yes, suggest away!

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Have Weyve use his action to cast invisibility on Terana so she can get into melee without provoking.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Just barely made that Concentration check...I've never actually built a character that used magic heavily enough to warrant Combat Casting as a feat choice, but is it worth having? Arcane Strike would be more offensively useful for my next feat and was my original plan, but now I'm not so sure.

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

If you plan to be casting a lot its probably worthwhile. You could always retrain it later if you find hitting the DC becomes much easier at higher levels.

Still need Tobar's rolls for the round.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Merry Christmas to all my gaming buddies!

Edited my previous post. The cave entrance is a long tunnel before it actually gets to a chamber, and the water's shallow enough to walk.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Edited mine, too. I realized that you hadn't said anything about how deep the water was when I had made an assumption, so I took that out.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

That should say a yelp of surprise, obviously. I just noticed the typo and I'm past the correction window.

Does anybody else want to help Gideon attack the ooze?

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

I'm assuming I can't... no ranged weapon and even a glaive won't get that high up!

Tobar absolutely should though!

There are a few more rooms on this level, or you can head upstairs to the next one. Where would you like to go?

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

Look in the ones down here quickly. Terana expects bad thing upstairs but not checking would be silly.

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

I've gone back through the whole game thread searching specifically for mentions of Alchemist's Fire. We've found some periodically, but have also used it. Best as I can tell, we have a bare minimum of eight, and maybe as many as fourteen. Most of that comes from the haul we found on the Faceless Stalkers, from whom we got eight flasks. A while back we divided four amongst ourselves equally that I can't find a post showing us using, and we also got two more from Alba, which brings us up to fourteen.

However, there's always the chance that I missed a use of it here or there, so it's probably more on the safe side to say we have ten or twelve flasks total.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I know what I’ll be throwing for this fight!

RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)

I've got a couple on my sheet. Happy to hand them off to you Tobar. You'll do a better job than me anyway!!

Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

Would Terana and I get an AOO against the one that's to my right on the map? It would have to pass through both our threatened areas to get to the other side of me unless the stairwell actually has a full wall there.

It has a fly speed of 50 feet, so it was able to move around without moving through your threatened area. It does pass through Terana's though, so she can take an AoO against it.

Still need Tobar's rolls.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6

For my own ease, and the ease of the other players, I thought it'd be easiest to compile all of the submissions into one place.

1) Haji, LG Half-Elf Paladin/Inquisitor

2) Cathyriel, NG Half-Elf Cleric

3) Brognan, N Elf Wizard/Pathfinder Savant

4) Ionus, LG Human Cleric/Hellknight Signifer

5) Saeros, NG Elf Oracle

6) Calamity, N Halfling Hedge Witch

7) Varloo, N Skinwalker Cleric/Sorcerer

8) Delavandis, N Human Cleric

I'm pretty sure that's everyone who has submitted a mostly/fully completed build. Seems like we definitely have our work cut out for us here, especially with recruitment up for only four days!

Brainiac, Do you want us to give our feedback on our favorite submissions as we did when Terana joined up?

Thanks for making the list, Gideon. Saves me the trouble. :)

I'm leaving recruitment open for one more day, then we can decide. Yes, I would ask you please give your feedback on which character/player you think would be the best fit for the game.

Still need Tobar's actions for this round, btw.
