Why don't we start by asking one of the clerics to cast augury to see if it will work? We could list the people we intend to use it on.
FYI I don't have hold person but I can fake it with shadow enchantment. I can do up to 4 per day.
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
I suppose we could, do that, but what is considered a "good" or "bad" result for an augury? The natural assumption, I think, is that it would be good to find shapeshifting plants in the colony, but it's also bad that we have them there at all. If we got a "both" result, does the "both" mean we found a faker but that means there could be more, or does it mean there wasn't one and the colonists raise a stink about it? Just seems like there's a lot of room for interpretation on a result that's as vague as "good" or "bad" or "both."
Just waiting for an in-game post indicating which part of the plan you want to put into action.

Yeah, this discussion does seem to be taking a while...I think it's time we move it along. What's our final answer here? It seems like we've got two options in front of us:
1) First, try an augury and see what comes up
OR
2) Go straight to trying a Hold Person on Kereda
As for myself, I'm not convinced that an Augury would give us enough information to better inform the decision, and I don't want to bring our suspicions up to anyone other than Ramona right now, so I'd rather go straight to 2.

I admit this one has me kinda stumped. If there were high level casters around I'd consider buying some scrolls of things.
I'm fine with the plan as-is.
Alright, give me a Bluff check to see if Kereda buys your ploy. :)

@Brainiac. Could I take a feat at 7th level to get the ability to use Detect Abberation in the same way that I use detect evil? I'm thinking a modified version of Sin Seer since it strikes me as being very fitting for a paladin with the Oath Against Corruption!
Sure, I will allow it. :)

That's a good point...Ramona IS with us, right? Not trying to pass the buck or anything, but shouldn't the say in what action to take fall to her, since she's the colony's leader?
She'll defer to your judgment.
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
I'm loathe to lose this chance to do something about a shapeshifter in the colony, but there's more than one way this could go sideways, not the least being our group suddenly seeming to attack a fellow colorist fire no obvious reason.
RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)
Frankly I'm tempted to hit him, if nothing else the colour of his blood might be a give-away! :)
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
Well, I think at this point it's safe to say that we only have one option left to us...

Y'know, hats off to Tobar here. The shapeshifter thing was a great flash of insight on your part.

Just suddenly occurred to me!
Sorry, falling a bit behind on some of my games. I will try to get a post up by Monday at the latest.
Awaiting Tobar's actions.

Shapeshifters
The site overall is NSFW, but that page is fine.

Sheez. Well...on the plus side, however many of these things there are for us to fight now, there's five less than there could be, them being already dead.
Maybe we can get people to safety while the stalkers are reverting to their true form.
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
So...are the shapeshifters part of the hags cadre or do you guys think the two are unrelated?
RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)
IC as well as out i aay not related. Stalkers work for aboleths and this hag is against the anoleths and therefire, i adsume, against stalkers too.
Sorry Tobar, I usually roll with the "two people agree to a course of action" rule to keep things moving. I'll give you an extra attack though as a surprise round since you were rightfully suspicious.
Might not have a chance to post later so I did so now, but Tobar can still retroactively take that extra attack.

It's fine, I was just surprised that I was right again about the shapeshifters!
You must have good instincts, and/or a high Sense Motive bonus. :)
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
I I was kinda suspicious too, but I was thinking that we would go on and there would actually be stalkers disguised as settlers, and when we tried to help, they'd all jump us. They sprang the trap quicker than I expected them to.
Lots of cries and retroactive AoOs to sort out, with not much time this weekend. I will try to get to it tomorrow or Monday morning at the latest to figure out who is still standing. :)

No worries! My apologies if my forgetting to take my actual attack action this round messed up the figuring.
RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)
You do an awesome job Brainiac. No pressure here.

Totally agreed! This is definitely my favorite game to check on new posts for. I enjoy them all, but yours is the one that I get most excited to see new posts in. Take whatever time it takes.

Guys: I've been having internet connectivity issues the last few days. My connection has been going out for long periods. I'm hoping that the problem is over but I can't say for sure.
I'm going to try and get caught up but since my window for posting may be limited I will handle threads that require short posts first.
So... many... crits... O.o

I'm really scared for when Karma comes calling for the luck debt Terana is racking up....
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
And it looks like the streak is broken. C'est la vie.
On another note, holy crap that fire spread fast. There's no way we're gonna save the building without the help of the other colonists. Should we have Weyve go call for help with putting the fire out or should we call the building a lost cause and just finish off the stalkers?
RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)
Probably better for Weyve to stay and deal with the fire and have either Tobar or Gideon go. I think we'll be down to one or two stalkers shortly and Terana can probably hold them by herself if need be.
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
Happy Thanksgiving to all my gaming buddies! Hope it was a great time with family for all y'all!
As far as the fire goes, Weyve is on the best position to get help. He could make it rain or cast a different spell and use a move action to get outside and yell for help with the fire without provoking from anything.
I'll give Weyve a bit more time to post before I bot him because of the holidays.
Sorry for the long delay, I was on a mini-staycation earlier in the week. I'm going to go ahead and bot Weyve. The doors are locked, so it would be difficult to get out for help. I'll just have him continue to fight the fire for now.
RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)
Hope you enjoyed the staycation!
I did, thank you! It wasn't long enough though--it never is. :P
RETIRED - divine guardian of the Compass (Ruins of Azlant)
Teacher... I know exactly how you feel. And we moved during the last holiday, so that wasn't a holiday at all!
Male Human Bard (Archaeologist) 11; HP 69/69; AC 21/14/18; F+4/R+11/W+7; Init+3; Per+21; Arch.Luck+3+1,6/6
Wait, y'all are teachers? I'm a teacher too! High school engineering and technology.
I'm not a teacher. I'm a director at a local television station. :)

Ah! Well that's still cool. One of the courses that I teach is A/V Tech, though that is a much more recent addition.

Secondary maths, upper end of your middle schools.
Hoping to get Latin back onto the curriculum next year though!

Very cool. And Latin? Wow! The only language at my school is Spanish.
On an unrelated note, has anyone heard from Weyve? I know he was having computer issues, but it's still been a while since he's posted.
I haven't heard anything since his last post. I'll continue to bot him until he returns.
On an unrelated note, these faceless stalkers have had a very poor showing this fight. :P
