Definitely rest and get better! As someone who is currently spending most of the days lying flat on their back, I am all for that idea.
Also, FYI: Today is our tabletop group's monthly PF game (obviously I am not able to attend it in person, but I am joining via Skype). I won't have much time to post here until late in the day.

Nico, although I'm a spontaneous arcane caster, don't forget that working in tandem you can use my spells for item creation, so if I know a spell that you want and don't have, we can work together to scribe a scroll of it, which you can then use to transcribe into your spellbook.

I'm thinking I should buy some medium armor and a shield for Durielle to have when the team knows it's time to get serious aside from just her light armor for the field and travel.
What kind would Oleg have on hand and what would be their "wilderness costs", O great and wise DM?

*sigh* I guess I'm the only one confused. I thought Durielle was continuing an existing conversation; I was unaware time had advanced other than noting Vladimir stating he was ready for time to advance.

Nothing in particular. Just wanted to have a couple lines with Nico more or less. We're free to skip time if no one has anything else they wanted to say or do which would include Durielle.

Excellent. I will almost certainly take advantage of this.

Per the rules in the AP:
.
.
.
.
.
Traveling (Time to cross 1 hex)
Party Speed.....Plains....All Other Terrains
15 feet.........11 hours..16 hours
20 feet.........8 hours...12 hours
30 feet.........5 hours...8 hours
40 feet.........4 hours...6 hours
50 feet.........3 hours...5 hours
Exploring (Time to fully explore 1 hex)
Party Speed.....Plains.....Forest/Hill/Swamp.....Mountain
15 feet.........3 days.....4 days................5 days
20 feet.........2 days.....3 days................4 days
30 feet.........1 day......2 days................3 days
40 feet.........1 day......1 day.................2 days
50 feet.........1 day......1 day.................1 day

| Nico Tegustus |

Huh. These differ from the Core overland movement rate for Plains (trackless) (3/4 x base), which would be:
_
_
_
Rate .......Time (hours)
15 feet.....10.6666
20 feet......8
30 feet......5.3333
40 feet......3.5555
50 feet......2.8444
It looks like they are rounding the fractions to the nearest hour.
I assume we are using an 8-hour travel day?

I think I will go ahead and purchase the chain mail & heavy shield for Durielle. Go big, right? :P
Also, is there a mule or donkey we could purchase? Or maybe we could get another horse and a cart as a group? And I seriously think we should get a hireling guard or two to watch our horses and stuff when we run off to explore ruins and caves and hunt tatzlwyrms. That way we have an off-camera helper who is protecting our animals, so it doesn't feel too un-immersive that our mounts and stuff don't get killed in the wild.

I think the hireling idea is a pretty good one. Were you thinking a fresh hireling or taking on one the reformed bandits?
The horse/mule/donkey and a cart isn't a bad idea, I'm just not sure I like the idea of how much that would slow us down while we are traveling/exploring. (see post above for average speed and travel/exploration times.)

Do they really slows us down? My thought was to have fleet-footed animals to help distribute weight and thus remove possible encumbrance issues as well.

Though it does say in the vehicles section that max speed for a cart is twice the pulling creature's speed -10. Therefore maybe it could be a -5 to normal speed? Dunno... not too worried about it overall, though there may be situations where it would cause minor complications - such as crossing rivers.

I agree that the hireling might be a good idea. Balter would be iffy about using one of the former bandits, but they are good candidates otherwise.
The terrain might be a bit too rough on a cart, but a pack mule would be able to go anywhere our horses could.

If you want someone now - from Oleg's, there are only ex-bandits available. The militia will not leave without replacements.
>Residents
Oleg - helpful merchant carpenter, basic labor
Svetlana - helpful skinning, cooking, taxidermy
>Militia
Kesten - helpful Militia leader
Mauersberger
Loomis
Elbern
>Ex-Bandits (year in labor 7.5 months remaining)
Budgie (mostly human) - stable boy, housekeeping
Arliss (mostly human) - forager, small game trapper
Kressle (human former bandit "team leader") - field hand, housekeeping
Rillo (gnome) - maintenance
Bunyon (gnome) - maintenance
>year in labor 11 months remaining (Topper's crew)
Cragger (human) - tree-felling, milling, construction
Garuld (human) - tree-felling, milling, construction
Linus (human) - farming

Kressle would be the most capable of the bunch while we are out and about. That being said, she's also the most likely to bolt out the bunch too.
Budgie has been at Oleg's the longest and might be the best fit for someone to watch the horses and whatnot while we explore.
Cragger and Garuld might be useful to help out with rebuilding the Stag Fort once we get there with their construction backgrounds.

That's 3 of the 5 of us. Sounds like the mule is a go. Bringing Arliss has 2 votes, one more to carry the motion.

I suggested the mule! You can assume I'm on board. I just wasn't sure a mule was specifically available, so I thought of the horse & cart as an alternative.
As far as the bandit hireling, Durielle feels she would be happy with any as their presence and continued help would just help prove the faith she has shown in their rehabilitation. Especially if any of the ones she gave the visions to accompany. She imagines her presence would help sober up any thoughts of returning to previous ways! :P
Doom!

The ones Durielle vouched for were from Topper's crew. I'm fine with one of those as well.
@Balter - I think I can carry Chafwinth just fine, but my odds in Elmere are probably about as good as a far right republican in California/far left democrat in Texas.

@DM BG - Okay, sounds like we a go for the mule/pack horse depending on what is available and bringing Arliss along for the ride as hireling/henchman to watch the horses and whatnot.
