Anklebiter the Insane |

Please accept my condolences for you and yours. May the good memories soon outweigh the bad ones, including that of her passing.

Anklebiter the Insane |

During the flex time, Anklebiter will pay a visit to the Cyperhlords. Hopefully some of this street cred will make a positive impression and he can get some of the Cypherlords to have a serious discussion with him about the Blot.
During work hours, Anklebiter will play the fool. Literally; he'll serve drinks and such and act like a jester. If he can score a gold-coloured coat for the job, all the better; it'll be good advertising.
After work, Anklebiter talks to the other members of the group about their suspicions, and tries to chat a bit with the other employees to see if any of them will tell him anything to support his theories. (Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17) He has his dinner and sleeps when he feels the need for them.
Before work, Anklebiter has breakfast, the occasional wash, and studies his spellbooks as much as he can, the better to advance his magical abilities.

Bruendor's biggest concern is figuring out Saul's game. During work hours, he'll volunteer for odd jobs around the Goblin, if only so he can get access to the secure parts of the casino. He keeps his watchful eyes on the crowd when he's walking security upstairs, but he's also keeping them peeled for oddities in Saul's routine, as well as anyone else in the Goblin.
When not at the Goblin, he's also wanting to spend time in some of the taverns and alehouses, spending his time and coin in getting the truth behind their opposition. He's wanting to find people that would have information on Zincher's plans, so he's not caught as unawares by the crime lord's next moves. He probably doesn't have the money, resources or talent to get someone on the inside, but he'd probably angle towards one of the more lower-rank members - maybe a kneebreaker, or one of Zincher's working girls, someone with a problem that he and his associates can solve. Help them out, and keep them paid to inform on Zincher's movements. That sort of thing.
He's also familiarizing himself with the area around the Goblin, its streets and rooftops, suspecting he might have to either escape it quickly, or follow someone fleeing it. Better safe than sorry.

The Ruby Phoenix was a Tian sorceress of great power who had amassed a great deal of magical items and treasure over her life. She was also a devout Abadarite, and wrote up a very detailed contract with that church over the disposition of her own Vault. She made plenty of enemies over the years, and some of them were even successful in killing her. However, she kept coming back from death, each time her red hair slightly more scarlet than the last. However, she eventually disappeared from Golarion, and the execution of her will stipulated that a grand martial arts tournament would be held every decade, with the victor choosing a single item from the Ruby Phoenix's vault.
Seated in Goka's wide harbor in Tian Xia, the tournament is ideally situated from competitors from both that eastern continent and the Inner Sea, and past victors have been from both. Hundreds come to Xielan Island's shores during this time to watch the bouts, and while the Ruby Phoenix's vault contains wealth beyond imagining, many say the true prize is the glory and fame that comes from winning such an event.

Anklebiter the Insane |

Hmmm. Sounds interesting. What kind of character classes and species are welcomed?

Bruendor Cavescouter |

Races - anything from the Core Book, plus the five in the Dragon Empire Gazeteer (kitsune, nagaji, samsaran, tengu, and wayang). Others would be allowed with a good background so long as it doesn't have a level adjustment.
Classes - anything from Paizo, really. If ever there was an adventure that lended itself to the Eastern classes, this is it! That said, there's no reason you can't play any of the others, including gunslinger.
Since it's bound to come up: 20 point buy, standard gold for 11th level, max HP at 1st level, half HD + Con modifier + 1 for every other level.
Oh, and an ulterior motive for signing up for the Ruby Phoenix tournament other than "I want glory" or "I want the prize." The reason for this will become clearer in-game.

Bruendor Cavescouter |

It's a one-shot, and yes, it's 11th level. Multiclass and magic-wielding characters are not only welcomed, but encouraged! While I don't intend for the PCs to know each other initially, they'll need to make a complete party once things get rolling, and that means covering the usual bases.
Also, for the ulterior motive, I would prefer that emailed to me rather than posted on the forums or attached to the character sheet for now.

I'm definitely intrigued. Let me think of what I can come up with (assuming the party will eventually be working together, not competing with each other through the tournament).
Oh, though I should warn you that I'm probably* going to be on vacation the first week of August and may not be able to post much. If that's a problem, I certainly understand if you don't want me to join in.
* My girlfriend's dad may be going into hospice -- which would obviously affect my plans -- but he's talked before about stopping treatment and then changed his mind.

Bruendor Cavescouter |

You assume correctly, motteditor. The adventure is designed for a team of 4 11th level PCs, which presumably have worked together before. For this story, however, you're all coming to the Tournament without having worked with each other before. Events will conspire (as they often do) to bring you together.

Anklebiter the Insane |

Pfft~ :P Calla, I'm sure you don't want Anklebiter accompanying you to Callistria's temple, especially not if it's just a whorehouse!

DM Bigrin |

OK, sounds like cloak goes to Lefrik, shield to Calla, potion to Anklebiter.
Did anyone want the MW longsword? Lefrik's the only one who can use it, I think, but he might prefer his greataxe. Otherwise, we can sell that, along with the banded mail, which should net us 283 gp and 5 sp.
Not counting the gems, since we don't know what they're worth yet, that'd net each of us 104 gp, plus 105 gp and 5 sp for party treasure. (There's also the two bottles of liquor Bruendor snagged, though Calla wouldn't think about those, just assuming the dwarf would drink them when we got back to the Goblin.)
Oh, and bump. : )
Looks like you are going with the party number+1 split method for treasure, so everyone (and the kitty) adds another 28g to the total above for personal spending.
Everyone make any purchases you need to make before your next posting.

Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere |

So that's 157 gp for each of us, plus 158.5 gp for the party kitty.
Brue, I think I've got an idea for the Ruby Pheonix that I like. Do you want me to PM you (I didn't see a recruitment thread set up). Probably a martial character -- I've got the basic idea for the character and his ulterior motive, but I'm still thinking about specific classes/mechanics.

Anklebiter the Insane |

Anklebiter has invested in more Cure Light Wounds-potions... And a bottle of Alchemist Fire. >:D

Bruendor Cavescouter |

Calla/Bombadil: I'm keeping the recruitment to people I know and would like to play with; hence, recruiting in games I'm already playing in. Shoot me a PM with any questions you might have, and send me a link to the alias once you're finished.

I don't know how much I'll be able to post in the next few days. It's the viewing for my girlfriend's dad, then his funeral tomorrow; plus I'm filling in for a co-worker at work; and then I'm off to a weekend camping trip. Please feel free to DMPC me, if need be. I was planning to just press the attack, keeping my judgment on defense. If I have to, I'll use true strike.
Brue, still planning to submit an idea to you, though probably won't have him statted up till Monday, when I'm back home.

Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere |

Hey all, I'm about to go to a wedding/on vacation (Aug. 3-9) and don't know how much Internet time I've got. It's possible I'll have none, but it's also possible that I'll be able to check most nights as I tend to stay up a couple hours later than my girlfriend. Please feel free to DMPC me.

DM Bigrin |

No problem. Have a good trip.
@Kelendra - Saul was in the counting room (downstairs) with Bruendor. The thugs didn't know that, but Kelendra should have. Feel free to change your action if you want until 12 EST.
@everyone - I am moving on Monday! I should be back with full internet by Wednesday. If you are waiting on me by then, all I can say is "I'm moving!"

I guess this Jasker Gant is a Monk -- or else a lot higher in level than we are. o_o;

A high-level Monk...? >_<; I don't care what Belkar Bitterleaf said, those guys dish out the hurt!

Bruendor Cavescouter |

I will have sporadic access starting tomorrow (8/15) until next Monday (8/20) as I will be at GenCon Indy. I'll try to check in, but my schedule will be very busy, so I'm not sure how well that will work.
I'll see you all soon!

Anklebiter the Insane |

Nah, I've got another two of these badboys, and you're out frontline fighter. You need to keep your hp up.
