Ouch! What an (un)lucky set of rolls. Sorry Kel. If you want to make another character, go right ahead. That was brutal.

Yeah, I was pretty stunned when I logged on to find out we lost one. Updated my hitpoints

And by updated, he means we all added 10 so we don't get gakked by the killer GM!

: )

Goblins never leave their dead behind if they can help it! ... It'd be a shameful waste.

well, she was a haunted oracle, so now I guess she'll do the haunting :) Smeeeeed, I'm the ghost succubus of money lending past! No worries on the kill, it's part of the game. I'd be glad to make another character, different type of healer to maintain party balance, I'll try to have it posted by tomorow.

With a 13 con. and 5 HP, would Kelendra have been at -11 after the scimitar attack? Any chance she may have survived?

I had her at -13.

Looking at your rolls, Big Grin, I'm a little confused.

You hit, doing 5 points of damage, which should put her at 0.
Then you confirmed the crit, rolling for 16 points of damage. However, it looks like you rolled the base damage again (assuming it's a scimitar, there should be just 1d6+4 additional for the crit). If we take just the crit damage, Kelendra should have been at -11.

Alternatively, if that second roll was meant to be the full damage (ignoring the first roll completely), she should be at -9.

Of course, I easily might've missed something...

Nah, you did it right. I misadded something in my head while trying to run herd on a pair of urchins. As for the rolls, I rolled as if the scimitar was x3 instead of x2 on the crit. I was supremo distracted. She should be at -11. Is that enough to kill her? If not, when Lefrik picks her up he'll notice that she groans slightly.

At -13 Kel would die, so she has two rounds to stabilize and with the -11 to the Con check to start she would need a natural 20 to stabilize, or a companion to succeed on a heal check.

Con check round 1: 1d20 - 10 ⇒ (5) - 10 = -5

Con check round 2: 1d20 - 11 ⇒ (20) - 11 = 9

Ran with the "I think she's breathing" bit which is far more sympathetic than "If she is dead, who gets her stuff?" that would arise in some groups I've been in :)

I think she's dead, Jim

Half-Elf (Chelaxian) Female HP 109, AC 26/18/21, F +13*, R +11*, W +15*, Init +8, Per +22 Inquisitor 13

I think if we'd realized she wasn't dead outright, we'd have tried to use heal. I'd argue let's handwave and assume she survived, but that's just IMO.

I'm fine with that. If Kelendra wants to live, we can certainly do that.

half-elf Oracle 13 | HP 107 | AC 27/15/24 | F +8, R +9, W +11(+2) | init +3, Perception +8 | CMB +10, CMD 25

The natural 20 on the last chance to stabilize was awesome, but I'm the newbie to this campaign, so I'll let the group decide her fate.

If the decision is a new character, would the group prefer a halfling oracle or a half-orc cleric?

Bigrin? Everything okay? Or are you just waiting for the RP to die down before you go to the next scene?

I was waiting on the RP. What you guys are doing is a big deal, so I wanted to make sure you were both set on it and had a chance to talk it all through.

I'll progress either tonight or in the morning.

P.S. Please don't take my silence for apathy. I am loving you guys' RP-ing. Much better than my last few groups. They'd go nuts if they didn't roll some dice every 3 hours.

Sooo... Did Anklebiter manage to crack the code yet, or should I try another Linguistics check?

If you'd have cracked it, I'd have let you know :) but realistically, you'll need 8 hours between tries. Fortunately, that's enough to have made several checks, given that we are about 8 days from when you burgled.

Wow, natural twenty on the first go! ^^

Anklebiter:

The code is actually a cypher based on Old Azlant writing. It took a couple of days to work it out, but it seems quite clear that Saul is cooking the books. The document you hold seems to show regular influx of funds from an unknown source, the latest of which was 4 days ago, before Larur disappeared. But, at the same time, the Goblin appears to be in debt and spiraling to ruin. The numbers don't seem to make sense, and certainly clash with Saul's behavior and the state of the Goblin.

Oh.

Oh, dear. Have I got something to tell the rest of you guys... o_o

Are you going to tell them before or after the trip to the docks? I just don't want to stat a new scene if you need to jump in in the middle.

Before we actually set off, but after we're out of the office, please.

Have at it! It is 2 days after the office job and 5 days before the liquor pickup that you manage to crack the code.

I get it, Anklebiter. I'm sure that, at some point, Bruendor will realize he's wrong about Anklebiter, and while he probably won't call him a friend, he'll acknowledge he's a member of the team.

Until then, expect fanatical fantastic racism from him. You're an "acceptable target." ;P

Hey DM, what program are you using for your combat maps? I'm thinking they look a little better than the ones I've been using (via Photoshop) and was thinking I might upgrade.

I use MapTools for the combat maps. I normally make them from scratch, but this one is copied straight from the module and inserted into MapTools.

I have a ton of maps I can send you if you want to use MapTools, including a Forest Paths map that has over 2km of forest paths and clearings.

Edit: Speaking of maps, I think one of my kids ran off with my thumb drive and hid it in a toybox or somewhere. I couldn't find it last night and thought it was at work. now that I am at work, I don't see it. No updates until tonight then :(
