Oops, no - crit is x4, which I then added to the original damage! Good spot, I was clearly not thinking straight when I posted. Should still be dead, though!

Ummmmm... Guys, please don't leave me bleeding out and unconscious?

I think Soractus is at 0? And Valarius, if you want to return, now is the time.

0/10 from lethal damage is unconscious, no?

Staggered.

Sorry, disabled.

A character with 0 hit points, or one who has negative hit points but has become stable and conscious, is disabled. A disabled character may take a single move action or standard action each round (but not both, nor can he take full-round actions, but he can still take swift, immediate, and free actions). He moves at half speed. Taking move actions doesn't risk further injury, but performing any standard action (or any other action the GM deems strenuous, including some free actions such as casting a Quicken Spell spell) deals 1 point of damage after the completion of the act. Unless the action increased the disabled character's hit points, he is now in negative hit points and dying.

Sorry for the delays. Houston has been hammered nonstop with rain for weeks, and Tropical Storm Bill is about to hit as well. I will try to carve some time out soon.

Stay safe out there, DM!

With our numbers dropped to 3 plus two very intermittent postings, I think it might be time to recognize the inevitable. We put a lot of work and thought into this, but we are moving along at too slow of a pace. I blame myself mostly, but I try to offer a lot of interesting stuff to interact with. I have been getting back shorter and shorter posts lately. Short posts are fine for interaction with one another, but we aren't getting that either.

What do you guys think? Time to call it a day?

Male Human Alchemist (Chirurgeon) 2 AC 15 [T 15 FF 10] | CMB +2 | CMD 17 | HP 17/17 | Fort +4 | Ref +8 | Will +1 | Init +5 | Percep +6

I don't know... I really like the concept, I'd like to keep going; but you're right, the pace is slow.

I think the issue at the moment is there aren't that many cues - we're in the cavern, there's stuff we don't recognise; and it doesn't help that none of us made the Perception check to realise what's going on! It's just a bit open-ended and I'm not sure what we should be doing.

I think the posting rate goes up when things are happening - my worry would be if we were in the middle of combat and still only posting once a week. As it is, (speaking just for myself) I don't quite know what the options are for where we are right now and that makes posting more difficult.

Male Human Impossible Sorcerer 2 [HP: 14/14 | AC 12/12/10 | F+2 R+2 W+4 | Init +2 Perc +2 SM +1]

I enjoyed the concept too, but we are really limping along. Part of Iron Gods is that we're really lost at what we're seeing. Even our technologically advanced characters are baffled by the weird skeleton, the even more advanced robots, etc. And we're also under a certain time-pressure because we don't know how long it will take the rebels to discover the research team. So there's a motivation to interact less, and push forward more.

If the game ends, I'm happy to have tried it for the concept. Lots of games end on the boards and few are this interesting.

I'm good with staying on if you can recruit more players. As for clues, I think that we just sort of wander around until we have enough if the pieces to begin to form a coherent picture. I'm not dismayed at the clues nor really the pace all that much; it's the nature of PBP. What we need are players who will let regularly.

But if you should decide to call it, I will understand and say thank you!

Male Half-Elf Investigator (Steel Hound/Infiltrator) 1 | HP 10/10,- AC 17/T: 14/FF:13 - Perception +7 - F: +2/ R: +6 / W: +3 - CMB: +1 - CMD: 15 Speed: 30, Init. +6

I'll simply apologize for my inactivity; got slammed by a surprise change to travel rules for work that have meant that I've been commuting 5-7 hours a day plus work. In theory, the light at the end of the tunnel comes after the holiday weekend... In theory.

If we keep moving, I'd like some lengthier posts. Tell me why your character feels a certain way and what they are thinking. Tell me about how past experiences informs the present. Describe the combat viscerally. Drop a paragraph even when a sentence would do. This game has a great concept - and I'm looking forward to revealing some hinted-at truths.

I will get us moved along tomorrow, then. I am celebrating my birthday tonight.

My apologies as well, as I have been the worst posting offender. I will get back to the more in depth posting, though my question is how far are you okay with us creating on the fly in those posts (regarding backstory and world details)?

As long as it doesn't contradict something or make a huge jump away from the established, go for it.

Good posts. Just what I'm looking for. I will get to moving you out of the caves tonight, so continue to react if you'd like.

I lost my first attempt at a big expository post when the website crashed last night. Here's to attempt #2.

Artemios should have no trouble understanding Androffan, being one of the languages that he knows.

What a busy 4th of July! Hopefully I will catch a breather soon.

Still waiting on level-up reactions from a few. It's not a normal level-up, that's for sure. I also need Soractus and Simeon to level their characters in here. I don't have a character to prod you along in the IC, so you'll need to create the initiative there.

Have fun! No GenCon for me this year... :(

I have given this game some thought while y'all were away from Gen Con. I had a really good time and think that there was a great story to tell, but I think it is time to call the game. Best of luck to you guys. This was a very unique and ambitious story, and I want to thank you for taking part in it.

If you want to know the overall plot I had planned, read on:

Spoiler:
The ship Divinity crashed into Hermea, which was sparsely populated by primitive tribes. Unity, the ship's artificial intelligence, eventually gained sentience and began sending machines out to explore. Unity came into conflict with humanity and basically purged the island. Geography prevented it from spreading farther, but eventually Unity developed pseudo-demigod status (though still trapped in the physical confines of the crash). Many years later, Mengkare came to the island after hatching his plan to improve humanity - only to come across Unity, who captured him and implanted cybernetic improvements that also gave Unity total control over the dragon. Unity and Mengkare started experimentation on humans, splicing them with android genetics until they were a new race. Unity's grand plan was to utilize every Citizen in a neural network (which they have as a result of their android heritage) bolstered by their faith in order to ascend to actual godhood. His ascension would've featured an actual satellite launch and the death of all of the Hermeans. Hellion and the woman who appeared (Casandalee) were offshoots of Unity and previous attempts to create a 'child' of sorts.

Basically, everyone's a Cylon.

Really sorry to hear that, I had a great time and you really made me think about my character - both in the creation and in the playing.

Thanks for DM'ing it; I now run a couple of games on these boards and I know how much effort it takes. Much appreciated.

Thanks too for 'lifting the curtain' a bit and showing us how it ends - really ambitious and intriguing ideas! I'm sorry we won't get to play it through now.

Male Human Impossible Sorcerer 2 [HP: 14/14 | AC 12/12/10 | F+2 R+2 W+4 | Init +2 Perc +2 SM +1]

It was good while it lasted, GM. Thanks for running it and giving us a glimpse into the story. It sounds like it would have been fun.
