This is the second part to Curse of the Crimson throne where a devastating new plague enters the city and claims the lives of innocents. Can our heroes save this city?

A further 17 damage, both ant's appear to have maintained grapple.

Confident his minions have the Elf skewered, Curnach hurls a second fire bolt to finish off the last zombie that narrowly misses setting Krenn's hair on fire.

Jerin draws out his wand of Lightning Bolts and fires one right through her mid-section.
lightning bolt DC 14 reflex save 5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 3, 3) = 18 I imagine she has quite a few negatives due to blinded and grappled :)

The crazed Elf manages to dodge most of the blast, but the hit manages to force her to her knees.
"Surrender..." she manages to blurt out before falling to the floor unconcious and bleeding out.

The zombie tries to strike at Krenn with it's closed fists to slam into him but completely misses, striking the armour and not harming Krenn.

Jerin readies an action to fire another lightning bolt if she does anything other than surrender, cast, move, etc. and waits for Krenn to finish the Zombie and secure the prisoner.

Arianna will approach the woman and tearing a strip of cloth from her dress, attempts to bind her wounds.

Stanching the flow of blood, Arianna calls to Curnach "Call off your pets, she seems to be the only one living who can tell us what happened here and what happened to Ruan"

It shall be as you say Arianna- but i'll find another use for them...

Curnach has the ants release the Elf as a free action and they move down the stairs to attack the other zombies. Curnach seems content for Krenn to finish off the last zombie while he keeps a vigil on the stairs, watching his pets attack then dissipate.

Note that the bite will get through zombies DR as bites are treated as bludgeoning, piercing and slashing. I will assume it takes the ants one round to get into position to attack.

You all notice that the bodies on the floor appear to all belong to musicians. The chairs to the east are where they were most likely sitting. All the bodies have their masks still on.

The Giant Ants are tearing into the undead and the zombies are powerful and no matter if the zombies attacks land or not, they merely bounce off the powerful hide of the ants before the ants dissappear. Two undead, that were dancing together are now marching on their way to head upstairs.

I assume the time on the ants fade or do they have 1 more round? Also I know that bite counts as all, I looked it up when trying to find out what damage it was.

They're coming up from the stairs

You find that the bodies are those of muscians, however none of them appear to match the description of the missing brother and his instrument isn't anywhere to be seen.

Various peices of art hanging on the wall, all being painted over with stick figures made of blood. One a explicit stick figures of a man and a woman together, woman with pointed ears whilst another simply has a heart symbol with a arrow through it with two names in the centre with a "+" between them. The names are "Rolthy" and "Jol". The art is probably ruined due to these blood marks spoiling them. One was a portrait of the lady of the manor now covered with the heart shape. There's even a real human heart stuck to the portrait with a crossbow bolt keeping it in place.

The bodies have been rotting for sometime, even the ones now coming up the stairs appear to have been rotting for sometime.

There are two more doors up here that you havn't been in. The door between the one you all entered from and the one of the far right appears to be lavishly decorated and spoiled by the markings of blood saying:
"Lover's Nest" and another blood marked heart on the door.

One of the figures having being burnt by Curnach's flame, ruining the outfit even more than it was. The other undead also have the same crossbow bolts through their bodies and they appear to be covered in some kind of disease just like the others.

The zombie already burnt badly from Curnach falls under the power of the magic missiles slamming into the undead with force and knocking it back down the stairs whilst the last one, wearing a dress appears to be still walking up the stairs.

For sake of not dragging this along let's assume you destroy the last one.

The elf is laying, having bled out bbut stabalised by Arianna.

Do we want to try and charm her to get her to tell us what we need or just beat it out of her? This horrible thing doesn't deserve our pity, is she engineered this massacre, she should suffer!

We need to find the boy and Rolth's location.

Given that she is in love with that body-snatching fiend, Rolth, I don't believe that even the threat of violence will do the trick. I think that a Charm Person might be our best recourse. You also find a black leather book that appears as if it was once plain, but now has blood on the cover with Rolthy written on it. There are spells inside that will require research to find out what spells are there. Where there should be blank pages are more crude and child-like drawings of a pointy-eared woman and a human man together, with many romantic annotations of the beauty of being one of the undead. Also of how Rolth promised to furfill her wish of being turned into one of the undead. Maybe even visit Geb.

We should finish searching the house for any other clues as to the boys whereabouts and then get her conscious so I can charm then question her.
What about forcing her accept the spell? I would hate to waste it, but I guess you can try as well if needed...

When we get around to it it will be a DC 19 Willpower Save


We should either all go to explore the rest of the house, or split evenly, two and two. I'll head out to explore. Who wants to go with me?

Dividing ourselves is not a good idea- there may be greater dangers than the Elf here. I don't imagine this will take long- lets wait for Jerin to get any information he can.

She is unconscious, that's why I figured we would finish looking around first then heal her enough to get her awake and then charm her.

She could inform us about the rest of the area so thats why i'd rather question her first. We can knock her out again once we're done questioning.

Curnach forcefeeds the unconcious Elf goodberries, one by one, until she regains conciousness.

They heal 1HP at a time so we should get her concious at 0HP.


The elf becomes concious and looks around at you all. Four against one don't appear to be good odds so she doesn't attempt to grab any weapons which I assume you have all confiscated and then gets hit by Jerin's spell.

Follow-up questions if the story dosn't get what Jerin needs,
So my dear, where is Rolth staying these days? We have so much in common you know. We both didn't fit in to the academy...I so want to meet him and talk about our shared experiences.

On the boy, What happened to Raun the ocarina player? I was upset that he wasn't here so I could do horrible things to him myself.

Well Rolthy sent me here to kill several of the rich bastards who were scheduled to attend the party here, but everyone else were just bonus points!" she again giggles as she says this. "I dressed up and snuck in here, shooting my disease infected bolts at the bastards, watching them run and scream, oh it was so fun! Rolthy's new employer wanted them dead, but I don't know who or why, before you ask, silly rabbit."

At the question about where Rolth is she tilts her hear.
"Rolthy has been pushed around by this new employer. He, or she..." she grits her teeth as the possibility of it being a woman unfuriates her "Has kept him locked up in the some hidden laboratory in the city. Keeping him locked up my poor Rolthy has barely been able to speak to me, so I stole one of his spell books to keep for a keepsake after he came and visited me the day after everyone died."

"Ocarina?" she seems confused into you explain it to her "Oh! The handsome Varisian with the weird wind instrument! Rolthy was so happy when I gave him the wrapped up Varisian to experiment on. He was so happy we got to use the main bedroom and he gave me two scrolls of animate dead, which I used to make this beautiful display" she seems really happy when talking about Rolth in this light, but then the smile fades "He had to leave as he had two women with him. They were heavily armoured and carried the young man off to somewhere. These woman had red-plumed helms" You recognise these helms and description as being that of the Gray Maidens.

She shrugs and shakes her head.

"where Rolthy is, maybe. If i knew where he was I'd be there right now. He said he'd return, but didn't say when. His work is getting him plenty of pay and spells. Some group who love undead like us." you see that she's quite sad being seporated from Rolth.

To the group, Not good news about the boy...we should probably talk to Croft about this. If the maidens are in league with Rolth and whomever this "benefactor" is, we might be able to have them follow some Maidens to wherever this location is, they should stick out like a sore thumb.

Agreed. There may be more survivors here though- and even if not, these abominations of flesh must be destroyed. Curnach lifts his club and beats the Elf back into unconciousness, unless someone stops him.

Jolistina is knocked out and the spell now is dispelled due to the offensive action, but she's unable to act as she's already unconcious.

There are two rooms still up here, one the obvious master bedroom and on the ground floor you can see hallways possibly leading into many other rooms. There is a light eminating from the groundfloor from possibly a fireplace in the room north with no doors blocking off the room.

Before setting off with the others, Arianna will take the manacles (assuming there's a key) and thread them through the stairway bannister shackling Jolistina's wrists.

Krenn will start by giong into the master bedroom. He'll have his shield stowed (so he can use his left hand to open doors and move stuff) and his axe out in his right hand.

As you open the door, inside the room appears to be a lavishly decorated room, perfect place for those of high society to sleep, however now it smells terrible.

Two female figures are in this room, one dressed in a attractive gown and in the position of a lady-in-waiting as the other is one you recognise as the once elegant and beautiful Lady Olauren Carowyn as her picture depicted her, only now she is covered in rotting and festering diseased flesh. Her elaborate, powdered wig now brushing against the ceiling. She is dressed as a Galtan Queen with a sprawling pearl-studded gown flowing around her as the other undead is dressed as a Quadiran princess. Just like everyone else their bodies are rotted terribly with bolts through their bodies. The Zombies don't appear to have noticed you all yet.

The once beautiful Lady Olauren Carowyn who was killed in cold-blood by a disturbed elf and then raised again in the mockery of like is put to Krenn's blade, slicing off her head as the corrupted body was still leering into the mirror.

The Mockery of her once great and noble life has now ended, but her lady in waiting is still standing.
